We said yes, not knowing it would include sitting at a very low, uncomfortable seating area with a wobbly table much too low to enjoy eating our meal. The food was great, but a bit pricey for the amount of food and the prices were about $10 more than any menu posted online. "Spicy" ketchup was regular ketchup with a squirt of smoke flavor; overpowering and not spicy at all. I can honestly say I've never been a huge fan of this place. On the plus side, there's plenty of parking right out front, and the setup is nice. There are both covered and uncovered areas, fire pits, and a good spot to hang out near the bar. That said, the food is just mediocre, and the service is absolutely terrible. We came for the Parade of Lights last night and, despite it being surprisingly slow, service was still an issue. There were three employees behind the bar, yet I had to flag someone down just to get silverware. The drinks are also way overpriced. Paying $24 for a 9-ounce pour feels excessive. Closing out took far longer than it should have, and they put all three of our checks on one tab without asking how we wanted it split. The vibe itself is pretty chill, but there are so many other places with great views, better food, more reasonable prices, and far better service. read more

What we had: Oysters - Super fresh! Perfect to eat with the spectacular view! Lobster tacos - Meaty and delicious, highly recommend you order this. Brussel Sprouts - You get quite a bit of vegetables with this dish. This is shareable, and I like the crisp on the brussels. Pear Flatbread with Balsamic Vinaigrette. I really liked this because it was sweet with the pears and had some savory elements with the cheese. Pairs well with wine. There was a lot of crab in the crab cake, but it needed more seasoning. The slaw served with the cake was delicious and paired somewhat well with the cake. The lobster Mac and cheese had some nice pieces of lobster, but the pasta and sauce was bland; it desperately needed salt. The burger was juicy and tasted good, but it was just an average burger. The fries however were yum! Crispy and well seasoned. We paid $167.71 (with tip). If solely based on the food, I would say, no return visit. The views and vibe however saves the day in this case. I love this spot for views and good food. They have traditional restaurant table settings and they also have a section of couches more loungy and cozy seats for dinner. I love coming to the spot with my friends as it's a higher end food with beautiful ocean and sunset views. They don't have a large menu but they do everything on their menu really well. Two of my friends were on a diet so they didn't really order much, but one of my friends and I ordered the skirt steak which came with sweet potato fries. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare accompanied by really tasty soft and crispy sweet potato fries. Our server was super attentive and really nice. Given this was a Saturday night and it was really busy you can still hear everyone at your table really clearly. Topsail never disappoints. I will say parking can be a challenge so just prepare for that, there is paid parking right in front but it could be typical to find a spot. read more

We chose this restaurant because we wanted to be close to the airport and watch football. It's a short Uber ride and you can see the TVs at the bar from a lot of their tables. It's outside but they have plenty of overhead heaters, so it was comfortable even in the evening. The server was friendly and checked on us enough. I think the menu is a shortened menu from downstairs, at the Brigantine, or atleast they have some similar items. Either way, lots of great options. We decided to order a few apps as our meal. I always order brussel sprouts and theirs were good. They said kung pow but they weren't spicy at all. The bao buns/tacos were tasty but many places in SD make them better. I was in town visiting my mom on 9/30/25 and decided to go to Topsail for lunch and unfortunately found live worms in one of the oysters after i had already finished it.. yuck. The embarrassing part was my mom thinks seafood is disgusting and said "you better not order oysters, they can have parasites," and i said "they would only serve the best at a place like this." Moms always know best i guess. The manager came over and apologized and said he would take it off the bill and said he didnt know what they were or how it happened. Since i already ate it, i spent my entire visit with my mom researching different parasites and hoping i dont end up sick. Turns out Bristle Worms do happen to some oysters and are harmless to humans, most restaurants just scan their oysters for them. I was just surprised that a fancy seafood restaurant on the ocean like Topsail doesnt do any quality control on the seafood they are selling for a premium price knowing these things happen to oysters? We also ordered burgers, a pepsi and an iced tea. It was seriously a shame that the manager didnt even comp the soda and an iced tea after having to spend our entire time at Topsail looking at parasite pics. I feel like thats the absolute LEAST you can do and somewhat of a restaurant standard to do when theres a huge issue like that, so it felt personal that we were still charged for those basic drinks. But i guess thank you for at least comping the parasites i ate! I felt a little nauseous the next day, i dont think from the food, but just mainly from the whole experience. While parts of the deck had heaters, there wasn't one near our table, so it got pretty cold as the sun began to set. That said, the location was FANTASTIC for taking cute pictures! We especially loved walking over to the area where you could see the Star of India lit up in the background. Truly magical!! The food was solid overall. The bao buns were very light, though the pork was a bit chewy. The flatbread had a great texture, but it was slightly burnt, and the balsamic glaze overpowered the other flavors. The crab cake was a decent size and satisfying. To top it off, the staff surprised us with a complimentary mud cake for my friend's birthday, which was a really sweet touch. Overall, while there were minor drawbacks with seating and food execution, the ambiance and thoughtful touch for the birthday made it a worthwhile visit. The views have made it a new favorite! Cool vibes and just perfect to spend early evening. Alicia gave us the best service so far. We tried the Halibut Fish and chips. The fish is very fresh, juicy, and tastes good. The fries that go with it are a little soft (soggy) and overcooked. We also tried the fresh oyster. They have great fresh oyster. We loved it! Price is reasonable considering they are located just beside the Maritime Museum and have an incredible wide deck view. This is one of the places I always recommend to out of town guests for excellent views of the water atop an outdoor rooftop. For my cousin's 30th birthday bash, with a group of 35, decided to go here after brunch for some drinks before the night activities. It was a bit chilly out but the various outdoor heaters located around the rooftop was perfect. The atmosphere was great, perfect weather and docked cruise ship crowd was the setting. We ordered: Ahi Tuna Sliders, Wagyu Burger, a non-alcoholic Athleta Beer, and a Topside IPA. Food came out in a good amount of time. The garlic fries on the side of the burger were not as flavorful as I had hoped, and the parmesan cheese wasn't much. Everything else was very good. I loves the goat cheese in the burger, that gave it a great kick. Ahi tuna sliders were tasty according to my husband. Our server forgot my side of ranch dressing so I didn't get to finish my fries. It's okay though because she was very busy and I noticed that she was working the hardest compared to the other servers there. I think that we will try to eat at the bar top tables or a regular dining table if we come back. The communal sofa sectionals by the fire pits are not very congenial with dining. The table top is too far away from the dining chairs and it's considerably lower, so making contact with food was like a camping trip experience. First time at TopSail and it was a rainy Sundy afternoon. The view was breathtaking. I live in the area and hadn't been able to check it out until now. We sat at a fire pit table right in front of the view and it was very nice and cozy. Our waitress (don't remember her name) was nice but not too talkative, and a bit short with us. We ordered a grapefruit mimosa and the Spa Day drink which was amazing. Crisp and fresh. I recommend the drink for sure. We then shared a charcuterie board which was delicious, and our entrees included the wagyu burger and the mini lobster tacos. The mini lobster tacos were so delicious and the perfect size. The veggies and sauce were a great fit to the taste of the lobster. The wagyu burger was delicious according to my friend. We definitely enjoyed the cheese board too. Delicious lemon jam I've never had. One thing to remember is on weekends around 330-345p a pirate ship sails by on the bay and does 2 cannonball noises and boy it is very loud and startling even when they warn you about it..but regardless definitely will come back here on warmer sunny days!! read more

This place is the cutest, rooftop restaurant and bar, right on the dock, and Seaport offering amazing views of the bay and harbor. I came with three friends in the late afternoon around 4 o'clock for a light bite and drink, and we were sat immediately at a beautiful table on the deck. I tried the "bambucha" blueberry, vanilla, hard, kombucha, and it was so light and refreshing, really an amazing drink. And at a reasonable price, $7, given the atmosphere and presumably high rent. We all snacked on a dozen oysters on the half shell, which came beautifully on a bed of ice and platter served with all the accoutrements and sauces. The servers were attentive and work together to make sure we had everything we need and we really loved our experience here. This tourist will be sure to stop by next time I'm in SD again! read more
