It had been several years since I visited this restaurant, but we were in the mood for tacos and did not want to spend $100 for dinner so we decided to give this place a try. This experience was really good. You order at the cashier and they bring the food to your table. It was fast service. We had the green chili queso which, based on my previous review, is really good. I was not wrong. The queso is excellent, not too spicy but very flavorful. I had a chicken fajita taco and it was excellent. The chicken was tender and had a deep smokey flavor. For $5 it was a deal. The salsa verde was really spicy but I got mine on the side so I could portion it myself. That's one tasty taco! The wife had the Republican, which is a brisket taco. She loved hers too. The meat was tender and smoky, The only downside to the meal was the combo of rice and beans which we got for the kid. It was too spicy for her. I tried the rice and it was spicy. She did not eat much. That is the reason for 4 stars and not 5. They need a kid's menu with spice levels toned down a bit. Overall, I saved about $100 over what we would spend at our usual Mexican restaurants. We enjoyed the food. We will be back. read more

Called to place an order because I don't feel comfortable giving any financial/personal information to an AI bot. I talked to a person who took my order but she put me on hold for 8min. When she finally responded, she confirmed my order and hung up. When I arrived, the manager said he'd put my order in because she didn't put the order in. This defeats the whole purpose of "to-go". This is the second time I've had to deal with this type of service from Torchy's in the last year. Then the manager told me "why I was yelling at him". I would check the cameras, because I wasn't yelling, I was talking over the loud music by the bar. There are better taco places out there in Dallas. read more

Came here after the holiday at the arboretum at night nearby. Had seen this place on instagram and stopped in. We got here about an hour before closing which I assume is why it was not amazing. When we got there they were already closing down parts of the resturant. The staff was nice and patient with us as we had never been here and did not know what to order. We got a trailer park trashy, baja shrimp, some kind of bourbon taco (it is not on the menu and I lost our receipt) and the taco of the month which was bad santa. We ordered a bean and cheese taco for kidlet. I was bummed that this is just tacos a la carte. I wish they had a platter where you could get 2 tacos and a side or two. I found the tacos expensive for what you get. While I appreciate that they have interesting flavors and combinations $5 a taco for what you get isn't really worth it (in my opinion). Our food was also barely warm. Kidlet's taco was cold and you could tell as the cheese was not melted and sure enough we felt it and it was not warm in the slightest. Also since this is the first and last one I have ever been in I am not sure if this is common at all of them but they look very unfinished. Lots of exposed beams and wood projects that look like they were just thrown up. Very little effort put into decor. I mean I was there for food and not decor but it was odd. Started with a half queso - it was delicious with a nice little kick. He got a tailgater that was a fried chicken tender with wing sauce and bleu cheese crumbles....and raved about it. Never knew Torchy's Tacos on Garland Road was so large and inviting. The bar area is a great place to meet neighbors and make new friends. I went last night to see a gal pal and we ended up laughing our way through the evening with a fun group of customers. SHOUT OUT to the bartender Rita "As in Margarita" she told us - easy to remember. She's been there 8 years, starting with four in the kitchen and then moving out to behind the cool bar. She was very efficient, chatted up the customers a little, kept the bar area clean and did it all with a friendliness that was pretty amazing since she's pregnant! THIS woman deserves to be moved into management: organized; hard working; smart. What are you waiting for Torchy's???? Give Rita a raise and a promotion!!! Torchy's was a great place for tacos and chips and queso. The queso was full of flavor and it wasn't bland. This was a nice appetizer to chomp on while waiting for our tacos to arrive. Also props to the chips for having enough salt that they taste great to eat on their own. I ordered the trailer park and fried avocado taco. The Trailer Park taco was delicious. I enjoyed the fried chicken in a taco with all of options. It just ended up tasting wonderfully. And the fried avocado was a fantastic contrast to the fried chicken. This is our local torchys that we frequent. It's always really good and has never had any complaints. Tonight we got 5 tacos, chips queso and salsa to go. I was significantly disappointed when two of the trailer parks were a little bit more than half cooked. This has never happened before and we were disappointed in the quality of food. Their tacos aren't cheap either so when it happens to two of them. Kinda stinks. Hopefully they can review the quality of the food a little bit more. read more

I love me some torchy taco! Come to Jacksonville Florida. The tacos are unique and not like anything I have ever tasted. It's been a little bit since being in Texas. But the servers are friendly here. This location is usually hard to get a parking spot. You might have to drive around a couple rounds. Also the flames of fire, and cuss words on the wall don't make it very family friendly. They have Maine root soda. So good. And cane sugar is used. I usually go here a few days while In town.
