It was better than expected. I had never eaten at a Torchy's before today and I have had people tell me they are overrated but my experience was very good. My co worker had gone yesterday and came back raving about their queso and had me try it out. It was so delicious! I knew I had to go today. As I later found out this was their 2nd day open and the lines were LONG. I had patience and the line moved fairly quickly. I placed my order to go as it didn't look like there was any seats available. I got 2 of the beef fajita tacos and the queso with chips. Once they take your order you are given a buzzer and you can sit anywhere and they will bring your order out to you. Service was surprisingly good based on how slammed they were. I would wait a few days to go back and maybe the lines would be shorter. read more

Here's an UPDATE on my experience, Theresa Cano reaches out to me via email on August 22, 2023 and I share my experience with her . SHE offers to send me a gift card for my horrid experience. Weeks go by and I haven't received anything so on September 23, 2023 I reach out to her letting her know that I haven't received anything and just wanted to follow up with her . Theresa Cano then says "Hi. You should have received that GC a long time ago. I will check the box to make sure nothing was returned but I sent that out. I assumed you received it since I didn't hear anything from you. " It was the tone and delivery that I didn't like AT ALL . But I still just kindly let her know I didn't receive anything and got no response. On October 4,2023 I reached out AGAIN and got zero response. In my mind, there is no excuse for a restaurant in Houston, TX which is almost exclusively dedicated to tacos to serve bad, store-bought tortillas. There are other Torchy's locations that make the tortillas in-house, and it makes all the difference. That said, salsa, chips and queso are great. Drinks are on-point, though wine selection at this location is inconsistent. Taco varieties are decent. Solid 3 star spot. I'm partial to Spring Branch or La Centerra location but this one is right by my house. read more

Almost every time I've been here, I've had to call back or poke my head into the kitchen to call someone to come take my order because no one is ever at the front register. The bartender is just plain rude, too; the heavy set guy with tattoos and glasses. People from Texas are always raving about Torchy's Tacos and I end up in Texas for work and my hotel was next to a Torchy's Tacos. I obviously had to go and was very happy I did. I stopped in twice for dinner in the week that I lived next door and both experiences involved delicious tacos and local beers. Both times I stopped in ordered three tacos, but the second time I repeated two of them because I liked them so much. That means I tried four different tacos. My absolute favorite was the Alabama Shake. The cornmeal crusted catfish in it is so good and crunchy that I would eat this every time I visit. The Democrat with shredded beef barbacoa was also quite good because barbacoa is always good. The Green Chile Pork did not disappoint as I am a major fan of carnitas and it's pretty much my go-to meat at Mexican restaurants. The Trailer Park was okay but probably my least favorite. Not to say it wasn't good, but compared to the others it was at the bottom of my list. And yes, I did "Get It Trashy" just for the novelty which in my opinion added nothing (more cheese, no lettuce). Then comes the sauces. I love the Diablo sauce! I love hot peppers and spicy food and this sauce actually has some heat. And it tastes good if you can handle it. The Poblano sauce is disappointing in my opinion because it's basically a ranch sauce which is probably the last thing I want on my tacos. The Tomatillo sauce is pretty a good green sauce with more fire roasted green chiles than other tomatillo sauces. The Chipotle sauce is once again a ranch based sauce but is better than the poblano but still not my preference. On the menu, each taco description clearly states which type of tortilla they come with. The first time they gave me all flour tortillas even though one should have been on a corn tortilla. The second time, the person taking my order asked what kind of tortilla I wanted and recommended the corn so I went all corn the second time. Both times I enjoyed a local or regional brew. First time it was the Buckle Bunny cream ale from Eureka Heights Brewing Co. in Houston and second the Blood Orange cider from Austin Eastciders in Austin. I absolutely love traveling and trying local beverages and am happy to see Torchy's supports the local area and region where the restaurants are located. I definitely like the tacos from Torchy's and would certainly return again. The service was fine at this location, basically just ordering tacos at the counter and then sitting down at a table to wait for them to come out. I was amazed at the way this Torchy's service member went out of her way to correct OUR mistake yesterday. We ordered online at a different Torchy's (we are new to the area) and then went to this Torchy's to pick it up. At noon. Very busy time. And yet, the sweet woman behind the counter just told my husband not to worry, she would take care of it. She and the rest of the staff rushed our order out for us and even called the other Torchy's and told them what had happened. Wow. Above and beyond. I did not get the woman's name ... I was waiting in the car while my hubs went into to pick it up. I only got the full story later. Kudos to you, wonderful lady at the counter at noon yesterday. First of all I've been a fan of Torchy's for years and was thrilled when one opened up near my house. The service in the storefront has always been very good. Prior to the pandemic in 2020, this was an excellent location front to back. since the pandemic and continuing today, the quality of the food has declined significantly while their prices have dramatically increased. sadly, I will not be going to at least this Torchys location any longer. I got a "to go" order from there last week and that was "the straw that broke the camel's back". I paid $16+ for my food, not only did I get the wrong food (I realized this as I got home to eat... they didn't put their labels on the tacos so I couldn't tell until I unwrapped them to eat ), the food I got that WAS correct was a total mashed up mess. For instance, one of my breakfast tacos came with the eggs on one end of the taco while the chorizo was completely on the other end... who makes a taco like that? Their kitchen's quality has been and stayed in a state of decline for the last 3-4 years now. I will not be going back... sadly. I can spend $16+ elsewhere and get a better product. read more

DAMN GOOD tacos. I'm not sure why this location does not have 5 starts! Torchy's is on the TOP of my list when it comes to tacos. Is it authentic? No. But they're DAMN good tacos. Chips & Queso -- 5/5, a MUST when you're at Torchy's Tacos! Delicious melted cheese topped with fresh cilantro and a scoop of guacamole (WHAT?!). Now comes with chorizo (Hillbilly Queso). Trailer Park -- 5/5, a fried chicken tender taco. Sounds weird but it's so good! Pro Tip: Get it "trashy" AKA swap out the lettuce for queso. Oh my queso! Crossroads -- 5/5, this is a fairly new taco I've added to my rotation. Now that I've discovered it, I cannot be without it! Brisket, jalapeños with onions and cilantro. A true Texas taco! Torchys is always good. There is a variety of options so there is always something for someone. They offer their tacos in bowls now which is a healthier option to cut out the tortilla. I love they have a monthly taco which is always fun to see what's new. My go to order is the grilled Baja shrimp taco. It's light, fresh, and one is enough to fill me up. Although I know one is enough is still order a second taco which I occasionally switch up. Lately I've been getting the beef fajita in the bowl. My husband loves the trailer park and he makes it trashy. A few others I've tried are the fried avocado, mr.orange, and their salad that I added grilled salmon to. Although a mile away, and given many mixed reviews, my wife, daughter and I decided to try the new Torchy's Tacos on I-10. My daughter is quite allergic to nuts and a bit more unusual, corn (which makes eating Mexican food difficult). We arrived (Sat night) at 7:15pm and as expected there was quite a crowd. We were about 25 or so in line. Although we were doing take out, given the allergies we came in to discuss the food and not over a cell call. We ordered: Fried Avocado (daughter) - (breaded in flour, then Panko) on a flour tortilla....Green Chile Pork (wife) - on corn tortilla and added cabbage.....Mr. Pink (wife) - on corn tortilla..... Grande Burrito (me) - Beef and black beans. Also ordered the queso and green tomatillo sauce with chips. The wait, holding our buzzer, took about 8-10 mins. We felt the noise level was very loud. The server brought the food out, wrapped and described the order as he bagged it before us - very nice and ensures order is correct plus you know which sauce is for what.... I though the queso was very good but not the WOW that I expected. I did not like, but my daughter and wife did like the tomatillo salsa. I thought the chips were average to poor. The Fried Avocado was excellent as was the Green Chile Pork. The Mr. Pink was so, so. The burrito was excellent, larger and more meat than all other of its competitors. Overall the tortillas we ok, not memorable, slightly better than store bought. Ingredients very fresh and flavors outstanding. The burrito was quite spicy, very nice for my taste but might overwhelm others. I love the Mr. Orange taco, it's so delicious but I wish it was cheaper. Whenever I order it to eat there the taco is actually nicely full and has everything in it. Yet when I order the same taco for to-go it's a straight-up rip-off. The piece of fish is so small it's ridiculous to charge almost six bucks for that, also they always forget to put the beans and avocado sauce on there. Even if I tip them like $4 dollars for to-go it comes out the same so now I never tip. The taco will come out just as bad either way. If Mr. Orange was about $4.10 for to-go then I would not complain. But it is close to a $6 taco which is a RIP-OFF. Conclusion: The Mr. Orange is the best salmon taco I've had, but I will only order it to eat there because if I order it for to-go it will be a very sad taco that should not even come close to the $6 price tag. When I order for there, the taco has everything and it is nice and thick. When I order the same taco for to-go the salmon is about one-third as thick compared to when I order for there. Well all the hype leading for group of us decided to turn this Thursday into " Taco Thursdays ". Well after all the debate we decided to give this Torchy's a try. Well I was a bit underwhelm. The queso with cheese was ok !! Was it best I had not the best I had definitely not. The beef fajita taco was blend and not the best I had. They put the menu right at the entry, so when you walked in if people stop and checking out the menu, you basically standing outside looking in, then you walk through the L shape divider which guide you through to the cashier like a cattle. Then the fun begins. Let me said this the cashier is well train and super friendly. The price however is a bit high about five bucks for a taco. . The music is so loud I had to shout make sure my friends can hear me, and I talked very loud. Any how not the best food or the experience I have. Meh for this place. . read more

First thing you notice here is the large space and the amazing decor ! Most Torchys locations are crowded due the small space and jam packed customers ...you almost walk away because closterphobia sets in real fast . Not here :) Well laid out ! The bar is the focal point of the location (of course, I may be biased , as the bar is my favorite spot in any restaurant- full disclosure:)) The food is Torchys standard . Great, quick and hits the spot on a budget ! Overall, I would say this new location is at the top of my list as it has plenty of seating in and out and that is so important as our city grows by the thousands daily. Will also note that the customer service is great which is also a major key factor as it is so far and between you experience great service these days ..my husband ordered "chicken fajita" taco and the young lady taking our order stated they had run out of that one, but offered to go back to the kitchen and make sure nothing had changed...I thought that was sweet to see she was going the extra mile to take time to do so. read more

We used to love this place for breakfast. They had a great ordering system and you could get your 'taco' in a bowl with so many different options ... perfect for breakfast on the go. Then they changed the ordering app which seems to have been designed by a 12 year old and they are constantly getting orders wrong and recently when we complained that the BEEF BRISKET based taco was actually PORK CHORIZO, the manager came out to say they would remake our order but he also wanted to school us that we couldn't recognize the difference between beef and pork, even though I had ordered the brisket 20 times in the last few months and my fiancee had ordered the chorizo as many times.
