Hard to miss this Torchy's tacos near 1604 and Stone Oak Pkwy. It is one of the biggest one's ive seen in San Antonio so far... There is a nice open dining area with high ceilings in the main area with additional patio seating outside. They also have a good sized bar, that has happy hour Monday thru Friday 3pm to 6pm. When i go, i usually start with the green chile queso & chips. It has a little bite to it (as in heat from the peppers) and tastes awesome. For the main course, i order two green chile pork tacos, that you can get on either flour or corn tortillas, but i choose corn. Another good taco i like to order is called the "democrat", which is basically a barbacoa taco. I love dipping the tacos in the green chile queso sometimes, before i eat them. read more

we ordered food from here but, were very disappointed! the portions were small for the price paid. our daughter ordered a bowl and it had virtually nothing in it! she was very upset! my fajita plate was so-so. the amount of meat for the price was small! the rice was bland tasting & the refried beans were average at best. we won't order or eat there any more! Not too busy when I went and met up with a friend around the 4:00pm time (11/3/21)I had their newest addition to their menu the chili wagon, chili stewed chicken with a poblano pepper ( they forget to put this on; order said I didn't want it, hmm, oh well no problem, it was tasty all the same) onions, avocado sauce, lime ( hmm no lime). The order came out fairly quick. Maybe more time if they would have remembered what was suppose to go on it. I was told it was a new item though. The chips and queso rounded out the meal. Yum! BAJA SHRIMP TACOS ARE MY FAVE! I could literally eat this every single day. Dramatic? I don't think so.

Why offer curbside if the process never goes well. NOT ONCE, TWICE, THREE BUT FOUR times have they totally mess up the curbside service. We always have to call and check on our order to find out it either it wasn't placed or they forgot to the bring it out. Also, why are you asking us to go inside to pay when i requested curbside? Had a pretty bad experience today. Ordered to go food, couple of tacos and chips with queso. They gave me one taco for free due to vet day which is pretty awesome, but then I sat there waiting for my food.... Then 20 minutes passed and it's all good waiting for my food they seemed a little busy... Then everyone behind me got their food and left... Another 5 minutes passed and I'm there by myself, I ask them what's up? They say don't worry your food coming. Another 10 minutes pass, they keep saying they checking on my food. So I finally ask again and they say they working on it. Another 10 minutes pass and food finally comes out.. like 40-45 minutes to get 2 tacos and some chips that they probably already have premade most of it back in the kitchen. So I'm frustrated and take off, check my food. Wrong order they missed a taco and the food is cold. I'm pretty upset at this point and just went back for a refund. I don't understand what I did wrong, I was respectful the whole time, paid for my food, didn't even complain once. But I guess they didn't like me for some reason. I love the food but goodness, the staff needs some help. I have been to this location three times and I have had my order messed up twice. Both times the server basically said too bad. You can get back in line and order something else if you would like. Great food will only go so far. I won't keep coming if I don't receive what I actually. Updated review. I've been here once, but from what I remember their tacos are really good. I had their Beef Fajita Tacos I think, and everything about it was great. The meat was nice and tender, juicy, and I think it even had that smoky taste to it. The cheese was of good quality, I think it was real cheddar Jack. The pico de gallo was excellent. I can't say anything the grilled peppers and onions because I don't remember having any with it. I didn't think I would like the Roja sauce, but it made the tacos that much better. It also wasn't too spicy, I can't always handle spicy food. The workers were friendly I think. The rebel theme of the atmosphere is pretty cool. We stopped by here on a Sunday morning and it wasn't too busy. I got the fried avocado tacos and asked for no cheese and to swap the poblano sauce for the tomatillo sauce to make it vegan! Very good! LEFT shrimp taco AKA AMAZING!!!! Sweet, spicy yet tangy, this hits all the spots. Usually served on a flour tortilla, it comes with marinated Jamaican jerk chicken, mangos and jalapeños. I mean, Torchy's is clearly not competing with your every day taco truck here, it's in its own category. Onto their secret menu (yes just like In-N-Out, & it's good). One of their best taco lives in the shadow of their secret menu: The Matador. Brisket, Jalapenos, avocado, sour cream in a crispy corn tortilla INSIDE a flour tortilla. Yup. I mean, world meet TexMex. Exhilaratingly good. On the other side, they also have one of my favorite bloody Mary's and delicious sangrías, very cheap during their HH from 3-6pm, I believe $3.5 apiece. And as lactose intolerant as I am, their queso always is the exception to my rule. It's life changing. Ok not life changing but absolutely delicious! It's spicy (if you put in the diablo sauce), and perfectly melty. Never had bad service. The only downside is how filling their tacos are... But again, more bang for your buck!!! read more

For those that don't know, Torchy's is like the Five Guys of tacos, everything is separate, you only get one (though a rather good size) taco per order, and it's on the more expensive side. The tacos a pretty good, we've had a few of different ones, but some are definite misses. The Trailer Park (get it trashy otherwise it's dry), Green Chile Pork, and Brushfire tacos are pretty good, but the Republican and Democrat Tacos are both lacking in flavor. read more

My wife and I tried this place out. The decor is really cool and they have a huge bar. Once we walked in we noticed it was really hot inside. Which was little uncomfortable. We ordered a pork burrito and a couple of tacos. When they came out they were hot and tasted really good. I enjoyed all the different hot sauces they had but my favorite was probably the avocado based hot sauce. And I'm not crazy about restaurants that ask for a tip when you are ordering at a counter, getting your own drinks/condiments and they are just bringing the food to the table and plopping it down in front of you with nothing more than a grimace on their face.
