Torrance Bakery took over the location of another bakery that closed down several years ago. This location off of Western Ave. is pretty small in size, but it gets the job done. They have all types of desserts from cupcakes, cookies to cakes and more. It's never really "busy" so the service has always been friendly and quick. They have a large selection of different types of cookies here. On Wednesdays they have a buy one get one free offer on their cookies. I guess they don't offer this during the holiday months of November-December, but start up the offer again in January. I've only tried a couple things from here before. So far I've tried, but didn't really care for the red velvet cupcakes and the red velvet cookie... BUT I do love the chocolate chew cookies! Those are absolutely delicious and the only reason that they deserve the 4 stars! It's the perfect thing to satisfy your sweet tooth, but at the same time it's not too sweet so you might eat a couple at a time. It's the perfect amount of chocolate and also the chew is amazing! I'm not into those hard, crunchy cookies, but I do love soft and chewy cookies! If you're looking for something to give to a friend and you don't want to give an ordinary dessert then you should definitely give them a box of the chocolate chews! I like Torrance Bakery and their ability to design a cake. We picked up a cake order this week, and it was just beautiful! The cake however is just okay/average. There isn't anything that sets their cake apart from other cakes. The customer service here is great, and the parking is never a problem. The store is well maintained and clean. read more

So my mother's birthday is this weekend. We have been going to Torrance Bakery for over 25 years. So I go in today to order the cake and I show the guy to pictures of how I wanted the cake. He then proceeded to tell me every reason why they could not make this particular cake. I remember last year for my mom's 60th birthday they gave a lot of pushback then! But we decided to give them a try one more time. I am so frustrated because this used to be the best bakery that my family used often. This will be the last cake that my family and I will be ordering from Torrance Bakery. As a customer it's very discouraging for a company to tell you what you can't have rather than just trying to find a way to make sure the customers happy. read more

My kids and I were so pleased with the cake today. This is the third birthday that we've celebrated since my husband has been gone. The decorations on this cake were on point. The roses are exact to the ones at his home-going celebration and the writing is the exact color of his truck. Of course it's delicious too. I'm sooooo grateful to you guys for making this possible. Good local spot for special occasion cakes and sweet treats. We had moved to the South Bay about a year earlier and happy to finally find a good bakery spot to frequent. I had been going there on average every 6 weeks for school and work purchases. I even ordered a birthday cake from there; the design was just as we discussed and everyone said it tasted good! My review is more about the taste of their items, but......... One morning was not so pleasant. I arrived to the place and waited outside as I wanted first pick on their cupcakes; door was open so I entered. I asked the sales associate if they were open for business. She took her phone out of her pocket, said it was 6:58 and walked away to the back; perhaps she was annoyed (??). Didn't say she was coming back, didn't tell me to wait, just left me there in the lobby, hangin'. I wasn't sure what to do, so I left and saw the hours posted on the door (my apologies); they don't open til 7a. The experience didn't leave a great "taste" in my mouth so I left and took my purchase elsewhere for the day. It's been a while since we've gone back; I definitely shall return. I've frequented another local spot that's good, too. Just thought the sales associate could've handled that situation better instead of just walking away without a word. Whenever I'm in the 'hood I love visiting this spot and for only one thing: Chocolate chew cookies. These things must be made of crack and chocolate 'cuz you can't stop eating them. They are like a decadent brownie cookie, crispy on the outside and super moist on the inside. MUST. STOP. EATING. COOKIE. They usually have 2-for-1 dozen sale on Wednesdays but they don't during the holidays (BOO!). So for a little over a pound of cookies, it was $9. A bit expensive, but so addicting and delicious. read more

Stopped by here around 9am to get a big batch of cookies for a reunion. I didn't want to deal with the crowds over at the one in Old Torrance so I stopped by here instead, where it was a lot emptier but had the same great service & same great cookies. There didn't seem to be lots of parking in this little area, even with other businesses located across the way. read more

wanted to place custom cake order so went like 2 weeks in advance and they told me i have to place order exactly 1 weeks in advance... so i was like ok.. sure...?! it said it on their custom cake menu "all orders must be placed in a week span of time. we will not be taking any orders past 7 days"...ok sure... they must make some really great cakes...?! ... Anyhow, called back 1 week after and now they tell me now I have to call back on monday again or something to place the order. wtf? who got all day and time to call them back whenever they want? So if you are planning something... better to avoid this place or you need to set an alarm to call them on the specific date that they tell you to call back. fyi p.s. when I walked in their first time, the girls were looking and acting like they didnt want to be there or something too... i dont know how great their pastry is... but after these experiences.. ill probably wont go ever again... read more

Came in with my mom. This is the cutest bakery! The service was super fantastic--the people were so kind and friendly. We chose a huge variety of items: donuts, cookies, cake, and the pumpkin cheesecake. We were in the need for a sweet fix and this cured it. Some of the best bakery I've ever had--we couldn't finish all of it so some of it was a day or two old and still tasted delicious. I should also mention the prices were very reasonable for this kind of bakery. This bakery is one of the many reasons I'm looking to move to Torrance within the next year or two--it just has a small town charm you can't find any place else in LA! read more

They always have ready made cakes to pick up for last minute occasions, all you have to do is take it to the front and they'll customize it for you. There was a lot of nice selection of pastries and cakes. Cakes doesn't have descriptions and the staff look and sound bother when explaining them. So when I felt the lady looked annoyed, I was discouraged to pick a cake for my birthday that my sister was going to get me. We just got a few cookies and that was it. Torrance bakery nearly ruined my sisters birthday. My sister had a TENNIS SHOE birthday gathering and they covered her shoes with the writing on the cake when I specifically asked them not to. The cake was a surprise and basically ruined the purpose of the cake because it didn't go with the theme. read more

Let me start off with my biggest appreciation to Diane this is an amazing patient caring loving most helpful woman I have ever came across. I gave Diane by far the biggest run around I was so stressed trying to put together my mom 60th birthday party. I changed colors and styles 6 times, I was picky, I was all the above of anxiety going bad lol however she never gave up on me she continued to work showing love she was so helpful brain storming with me making calls to work out different things for me she absolutely went about and beyond. Very good cakes.... I've been using this place for the last 20 years for all occasions where a cake is needed. They have some of the most creative cakes I've ever seen. The customer service is on point, we always get everything on time and the prices are very reasonable. If you are looking for a good birthday cake I suggest the white cake with lemon mousse filling and buttercream frosting. Simply the Best!!!! read more

This 1 star rating is for the UNPLEASANT service I received today. Ashley helped me with such a rushed and hurried quickness that it seemed like I interrupted her from a more important task. She threw my cookies in a bag, weighed them, swiped and returned my card with No eye contact, no smile, no thank you, or have a nice day Tip: treat every customer like it's your first. Work every shift like it's your first. Customer = business. Repeat customers = referrals. Referrals = more business and business = you have a job. I'm motivated to go on a Torrance Bakery fast. I was told that the best time to visit their shop is around 11am. Around noon today, I dropped by the shop again. I was determined to try more of their cakes. This time around, they had a full selection of desserts. I ordered the Mont Blanc Roll Cake, Mango Mousse, Chocolate Cake and Cream Cheesecake. I, of course, liked the roll cake, but liked the chocolate and cheesecakes even more. There are a lot of bakeries scattered around the South Bay, but this place is now my favorite. However, during my last visit, only one staff member was working. I went in the morning before work, so it was during the breakfast rush. I had to wait about 10 minutes just to place my order because he was taking orders and preparing the food, and the two people ahead of me had ordered a big box of conchas. Finally, after making me yell and argue with them for probably 3 minutes in front of the whole restaurant, she finally agreed to refund the $3. Horrible service, and dishonest. They tried everything they could to not give me a refund when there was no hash browns and I paid for them. Worst service ever.

On this visit I sampled sweet and savory offerings (sourdough, gluten free bread, cinnamon roll and bun and a chocolate croissant) First let me say that everything is handmade and being organic means that there is nothing in the mix that shouldn't be there, but most importantly everything was delish. I am not a sweet fiend, I am more of a savory guy and I was more than happy with everything that I sampled. The breads contained no added sugars and the pastries were lite on sugar and glaze. The flavors were honest and pure. My favorite of the bunch was the chocolate croissant. It was flakey, buttery and filled with the most delightful dark chocolate morsels; not too sweet, not too bitter just pure goodness. It paired well with my coffee, but should pair equally well with a glass of milk. Heck, all this talk has got me hungry for another one!!! Lastly, I respect and appreciate a company that stands behind their product (no compromise). Again, everything is certified organic and the dough is slow fermented (30 hours). This process enhances flavor, texture, digestibility for the gluten sensitive, better bioavailability of nutrients and enhances shelf life without adding preservatives. Finally, the young lady at the counter was super pleasant, knowledgeable and caring. I managed retail for nearly 20 years and I know good customer service when I see it and you will find none better than at Frogs. I will certainly be back to sample the rest of the menu.

I ate the skin too and it tasted great. The main part of this place is the soba. The kikouchi soba are thicker 100% buckwheat noodles that were very well cooked and pleasant to eat. The Plum "Ume" broth was so refreshing and nice. I ate it cold; I probably would have preferred it hot but the is just a personal preference. The Ginger Pork was great. The pork itself was super gingery without being too pungent. The shredded cabbage was super easy to pick up and eat and the side of noodle salad and miso soup were great complements to the meal. I can tell no corners were cut anywhere and that Otafuku puts a little of effort into every meal they prepare. There is great care for all of the preparations and it was a very special meal. I felt like I was in Japan for a second as the feel of the restaurant is very "homey" and the ambiance is a nice cheerful atmosphere.
