Authentic Mexican. Better Than King Taco. Great Mexican food at a fair price. The salsa bar is awesome - well the salsas are delicious. Burritos are good, as are the chips. Tacos are also very good. The meats taste like real Mexican food, unlike the chicken at King Taco (seems like cheap chicken). Breakfast is also good here. The eggs Mexicana are good and spicy. read more

I have officially given up on this place, today was my 4th and last visit. 1st time was great last 3 times I kept hoping it would be as good as the 1st. The quality of the food is so bad the carne asada was nothing but grissil the Salas is good but sauces for the enchiladas are terrible and taste like it's out of a can of la Victoria. Wayyyyy OVER priced. Don't waste your time or money here, I know i won't get my 42 bucks back for 4 meals 2 of which were kids meals. Tortas Mexico is a great taco restaurant but has average-to-bad customer service. Pros: Food: it's very good, especially their delicious chicken tacos (they're kind of like gourmet tacos compared to the other fast food tacos). You can actually see the nicely sliced-pieces of chicken, onions, and celery tossed on a small or large tortilla. Pricing: it's a little pricey since each taco is about $2 (small taco) or $3 for a large taco. I normally spend about $15 just on tacos and a small drink so it's not your $5 taco joint. It's expensive because they provide a full-sit down restaurant experience and liquor; plus, the food is high quality. Cons: Okay, so it's a little pricey as I mentioned above, but the real problem is their customer service. I stopped eating inside because of the slow and poor service, especially when they get busy. I avoid this train wreck now by placing a phone order for take-away. Overall, with higher than normal pricing for tacos, and at best only average customer service, I would still recommend Tortas Mexico because ultimately, it's all about the food and they have very tasty food that you can order for pick-up. read more

Back again. I tried the Chile Relleno Sope w/ Asada and Tacos Carnitas. This was amazing. I really thought that it tasted authentic as my family often travels to to different spots in Mazatlan. Not impressed at all. Came here for lunch last week with coworkers because one of them had been here before. I ordered the Tortas Cubana after seeing a picture of it on Yelp and let's just say I put it down after a few bites. The quality of the food was not good at all. I come to this place all the time and order the breakfast plate special (2eggs and toast) it was 12pm when I walked in and asked the idiot behind the counter for this plate I say he can charge me full price because I understand it runs till 11am. He says no you can only order from the full price menu. Then I say o.k let me get the breakfast plate with a side of toast. He says it comes with tortillas, I say I don't want tortillas. We were looking for a good Mexican place near us and found this location on Google. I wish I would have looked at the yelp rating before we ate here because it's a good indication that this place is not good. I ordered a milanesa torta and the meat was rubbery. It was really hard to chew. I thought maybe half the torta would have bad meat, but it was the entire milanesa cut that was hard to chew and swallow. We also ordered a carnitas burrito and the meat was so dry. The pupusas were delicious but they were overpriced. For the amount of money they charge, you'd think the food would be good but unfortunately it wasn't. The best part were the pupusas that aren't considered classic Mexican food. It's one of the hole in the wall places that's just hiding delicious food! Get the chicken burrito, ultimate style, you won't regret it. Their tortas are also really good. Staff are generally nice and accommodating, especially with deliveries and minimum price requirements. I've been coming here for years and I hope to continue to do so for years to come. read more

I made an online order with special instructions and had someone else picking it up. He said everything had gone well and they had packed everything as per my instructions. When we were getting the food out one of the components to the meal was wrong. Neither one of us wanted to go back to the restaurant. So I called and explained the situation to the owner. He apologized and asked how he could make things right. I live very close to the restaurant and within their delivery area so I asked if he would be willing to deliver the missing items. Without hesitation he said yes and was at my house in less than 6 min. He doubled up on the items he delivered. I was very happy with the outcome. read more

Horrible establishment; first they took the order wrong, then I had to pay $35+ for 2 burritos and an enchilada plate(that doesn't include drinks). When we received the food it was on a styrofoam plate...I can not believe how expensive this place is, especially with the horrible service and food. If it was good quality Mexican food then maybe I would not mind paying, but this is worse than I could make at home and I do not even know how to cook. We ordered to go and picked up the order. Got home, and realized that a few items were missing. No big deal, we drove back and showed our receipt. The individual who helped us, was rude and said no I gave them to you. We said, no that is incorrect...we stayed cool. The person insisted that we were given the food. So now it was a stalemate. We asked to check into it, he went back to check and then REALIZED that the bag of tacos was not given to us and was placed in the wrong spot. I would have rated this much higher if there was a little ownership and accountability by the person working there, versus implying multiple times that we were wrong and were given the food. Horrible customer service. I only gave this experience 2 stars since the burrito I did receive the first time was good and fresh. One thing I love about small towns are its small town restaurants and good food. I would eat here at least once a week during lunch hour. I usually call and preorder my food right before I leave my office, it takes me about 10min. to get to the restaurant and my food is ready to be picked up. Since I come here often, everyone knows me and greets me as a family member. They all know what I like and don't like and that really works for me !!! I highly recommend them. read more

I have been to Tortas Mexico plenty of times. The food is good and service was good also. I just recently went back on Friday 11/2/12 and found that there were changes they called it "A new system". It turns out that now you have to wait in line to place your order and then be able to take a seat at a table. The food is now served on disposable plates and service is not that good anymore. Not sure why they would try this new system of service. They have just as many people "employees" at the restaurant now than before. Not really sure I would go back to eat there while this new system is still in place. :( I really liked their menudo on the weekends. read more

Absolutely impressed for finding such legit Mexican food up in Montrose! Don't get me wrong, the tortas aren't something I would write home about, but I'm from Echo Park where there are dozens of places within walking distance to have legit Mexican food, I'm just so impressed with this place existing up in the Glendale hills! I think what I was most impressed with were the aguas frescas. Both the horchata and tamarindo were totally legit and obviously made fresh. Legit agua de tamarindo is hard to come by, even in Echo Park, so that alone deserves much props! I didn't try the jamaica but it looked good too. I won't be too harsh because it was not terrible.It just isn't good.I used to go to Tortas when it was located across the street from Big Lots in Montrose.The quality was a lot better.Baja Fresh has better salsa than this location.The salsas are heavily watered down and flavorless.I am Mexican myself and know what good Mexican food is.This is not it.My nachos were bad.There were very few chips and a ton of beans.The ratio of food to chips was way off and I just ended up with soggy chips that were burnt.Go to Joselitos in Sunland or Montrose.Dont waste $12 on poor quality food read more

This place is our go-to, #1 choice for pick-up when we're too tired to cook. Convenient, quick, and a large menu. Easy parking - it's in a shopping center with plenty of spaces. We had the queso fundido, which was gooey and cheesy, and several tacos. They weren't the best tacos I've ever had, but for $1 each I couldn't complain. They have a special - $1 tacos from 6pm to close every night, I think. For that price, it's worth trying, but with so many good tacos in the area I don't know that I'll be back. read more

I absolutely love Tortas Mexico because the food is delicious, prices are cheap and the service is quick! I constantly hear people complain that certain restaurants aren't "authentic" and that the food is "americanized", however I've yet to hear someone accuse Tortas Mexico of being either of the two. Just went in today for the 3rd time this year. It's a tiny place with great food. The service is quick, menu has huge variety and prices are great. They also serve soda and coke that's from Mexico so no high fructose corn syrup. Huge plus for me. The gentleman came to our table many times to ask how we're doing. Very clean as well. The chips were also delicious and there was a huge variety of sauces that you can grab as much as you want. Some people are so harsh in their reviews. Not sure why.
