Tortas Mexico and I are going steady. The food here is a knockout. A grand slam. Slam dunk. Insert lame sports analogy. It is just good. Obviously, the tortas are incredible. The chicken burrito (I always add cheese) is TO DIE FOR. The Chicken tacos are clean, bold, and easy to pick up. I never encounter any weird or grizzly pieces of chicken, which is a nice happy thing - since I like to pretend that I am not eating meat. Their breakfast burritos are my new favorite habit. Filled with eggs, cheese, sausage or bacon, avocado, sour cream, rice... and all kinds of other goodness. Don't expect to run a marathon after wolfing down a breakfast burrito, which is fine for me since I refuse to work out. I go here often, and NEVER have a bad experience with the food or service. read more

Wow. This place is awesome! I came here because I saw the prices were reasonable, and was surprised to find the food is great too. Handmade tortillas, rice that's simple and made here, and nothing was overly greasy - not even the taquitos that were fried!! Plus, the service is great. This time i ordered the torta cubana, but I'd drive out here again to try out other plates. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! As Nick Y said, I was quite impressed with the interior. I went to the one in Tujunga before and wasn't too impressed, but thie one in Montrose feels like a dine-in restaurant with open kitchen and friendly wait staff. I usually go find a taco truck when i work in LA since they have the best burritos. I had the huge steak burrito 2 pounder (i think?) for 8 bucks and it was definitely better than the tujunga tortas. Had this for the first time and I may not be eligible to write a review but wow this place is yummy. I had their shrimp taco and it's delicious but I wished it was a bit more crispier. Pretty good spot I hadn't hit up since working down the street at the hospital some years ago. It was a pretty reliable spot for burritos some 6 years ago and I am now finding out that they offer more than burritos for a quick lunch. I had what was the tortas equivalent to a wet burrito. I hadn't heard of this before and I wasn't disappointed after deciding to try something new. Good taste and good service was what we walked into and I'm glad we just beat the rush of the afternoon. My first visit to this establishment was very positive. The chips and salsa was fresh. I ordered the Cuban Torta and got a tall glass of orchata. The sandwich was a good size and the orchata was fresh. Its cool that they have LCD screens all over so you can watch the game(s). The service was good also and I thought I got my $10 worth and I didn't leave hungry. Next time I go there I will try something else and I will keep you posted. Oh and they do serve breakfast. I have mixed feelings about this place. Dropped in for an early lunch w/the kids on a Sunday. There were several people in there, looking happy. The waitress gave us our menus, gave us some time and took our order. It didn't take long to get our food. I ordered an ultimate style al pastor burrito. It was a good size, but i polished it off easily. I enjoyed it very much as the meat was juicy and all the extras mixed together well. My daughter ordered a pork tamale. It started off pretty good, but the masa and the pork got dry half way through...i guess it wasn't done steaming all the way through. My son ordered chicken taquitos w/beans and rice. He only ate 1/2 of one of the taquitos, although he finished the beans. I grabbed the other taquito thinking i'd scarf it down, but the chicken inside was so dry and the tortilla wasn't crispy, i could hardly swallow the one bite i took. Plus, the wait staff was pretty inattentive. I think they were obsessed w/food they were making for a catering event. We may go back and try some other things on the menu, but i wouldn't go out of my way. read more

1) They deliver. Great! 2) It's pretty darned delicious for quick/convenient Mexican food. 3) Their hot salsa... is actually hot. I appreciate this. It won't kill you by any means but if you think a Wendy's or Jack in the Box spicy chicken sandwich is "spicy" then you're not rated, by a long shot. 4) They actually put a good amount of meat on their tostadas. When ordering for delivery, I just use the grub hub app on my phone/computer. It solves the drama of phone ordering. I've found the staff to be very friendly and kind to me. Wound up here after seeing it so many times going next door to have Korean. Finally got to try their food. Their chicken mole was so good. The flavors of the mole were bold & delicious. The juicy was moist as it should be. It came with beans topped with cheese & rice. Both of those sides were a perfect compliment for the chicken & also amazing in flavor. We also got a Chile Rellenos which was very well made here. I love to try this at almost any authentic Mexican place to see how they do it. Tortas delivered in the correct way. Zero stars if possible! 25 minutes for a salad with chicken. My husband didn't get his rice and beans until he was done with his tacos. He only had two hard shell tacos. When I asked what happened she said chicken takes a long time to cook. At least 4 people got their food before me. Oh and my husband had one chicken taco she nice try. This place sucks. Never going back. Somebody please open an authentic Taqueria around here because this definitely not one!!! read more

Good lunch specials Monday through Thursday: buy 1 small taco ($1.89) get another identical taco free. I tried the marinated al pastor (pork), carnitas (pork), asada (beef), shredded beef and chicken... My favorite was the al pastor because of the great flavor and also the shredded beef because it was juicy, tender and moist! They have a salsa bar that offers 3 types of salsas, lemons, jalapeños and pico de gallo. This place also has a Groupon offer but it can only b used on their regular priced menu items. read more

My go-to for Mexican food in Montrose! I spent the last 3 and half years in So-Cal and Tortas Mexico was a 2 to 3 times a week stop during my tenure. You can't beat the buy-one-get-one deal on street tacos (Mon-Thur) and I challenge anyone to find a better breakfast burrito (they're HUGE!). Delicious! Or maybe my thought was, "WOO HOO!" I was so excited when I saw them moving in. Could not wait for them to open - they are THAT good. They are in the Vons/CVS shopping center where I do a lot of my shopping...how conVENient (as Church Lady would say). The food is EX-CELL-ENT! I love love love the carnitas (soft) tacos. My neighbors are addicted as well and report they've never had anything the didn't like. My boyfriend gets the carnitas burrito with extra sauce, which is delicious and filling. Something tells me we need to branch out and try something other than the "usual" since the menu is huge and everyone seems to like whatever they try. Although we have called in our order in the past, we like to drop in, place an order, then get some Coronas and limes at Vons. By the time we return, our order is usually ready to go. For both dine-in and take-out, we find the service friendly & efficient. They have, however, screwed up the order about 50% of the time, so check it before you leave if it's take-out. They always rectify the problem immediately, and sometimes throw in an extra bag of chips with salsa for our trouble. Bottom line is, you cannot beat Tortas Mexico for quality and quantity of food, casual, friendly atmosphere (they also have a couple big flat screens for sports) and price. My mom loves tortas and she's always in Montrose and we Yelp this place. This spot is right next to Vons it is a small spot but it is really good ! I got a carne Asada torta and my mom got an el pastor torta. Meat was super delicious, bread very fresh, and cheese was melted. I ate my whole torta I didn't leave anything. They also give you sides of chips which are very addicting with salsa. They have a little salsa bar on the side. They also do have agua frescas, three flavors the one I got was Horchata it's a little to sweet so I did put a lot of ice. read more

I work close to this restaurant, I was extremely excited to eat here. Now let me tell you I am Mexican, I eat Mexican food very often. I came in, nice little restaurant, and fun decor. I ordered a carne asada burrito with a small fountain drink. It came out to 12 dollars!!! The burrito is a good hearty size, stuffed with meat, and lots of beans. Let me say this the meat quality was good, however the flavor was not there. It literally taste like they grilled the meat chopped it up and put it in the burrito. The green salsa had no heat at all! Not worth the $12. I thought at the very least it would taste good since it's double the price of any other good Mexican restaurant. I will not be eating here again. This is not Mexican food! Mexican food is rich in flavor. Unless this is some Mexican food with a twist, or a healthy Mexican food with no salt or flavor added. read more

I used to get the carnitas wet burrito - huge and delicious - or a bunch of tacos - til I discovered the carnitas or carne asada family pack! Tortillas, meat, rice, onions, cilantro, salsa, lime, all the fixins to make all you can eat tacos for two (or dinner for 2 nights) or dinner for 4. Make them just the way you like them and have plenty to go around! If you eat in, they now serve beer. Bonus! Or you can order to go, then pick up Coronas at Vons next door while you wait. Your dinner will be ready by the time you go back. Meat is seasoned to perfection and they are generous. Wish it were still open right now as I would go back again. The spot needs a deep cleaning is pretty dirty. Staff is pretty rude and the only thing that is a hit or miss is the torta de Milanesa sometimes is good and sometimes is old. Beware of one of the older guys in there who likes to count the tips in front of customers, sweeps the floors and then cooks the food in the back without washing his hands. read more

Luz was very personable and professional. We came in right before closing for a take out order and she still managed to strike up conversation and even hook us up with limes when everything was put away. I come here all the time for their Pastor tortas and their 2 for 1 taco deals Mon-Thurs...just recently tried their family pack specials and was blown away at the value..and always blown away by the taste.
