Brand new furnace was not blowing any hot air. Called Total Comfort and they were out there the same day. The technician (forgot his name) noticed that a sensor in the furnace that ensure CO2 is not building up was defective and because of that the furnace would not fire (it would just keep the fan going). I got a call from Rob the next day informing me that the part was not readily available and that they are working on getting one from the manufacturer. 1 week later, I spoke with Rob again, he informed me that the part had just come in and they would be able to send some on Saturday and get it fixed. Saturday, technician Will comes at the time they said they would. He was wonderful, always had his booties on to not track dirt onto the carpet, even called his supervisor because of another concern he noticed (it ended up not being an issue at all.) All in all, Will explained everything, fixed everything and now we have heat. Thank you!!! read more

We requested a quote from Total Comfort for a Quiet Cool whole house fan. The guy who came over was nice and professional but the quote he offered was $4000 higher than other companies offering the same product. We don't know if he was taking advantage of me being a woman (my husband was not at home) and assuming I'm ignorant or what else was going on but to offer the same 4.5 Quiet Cool fan for $4900 while everyone else I called stated between $1300 and $1500 installed is asinine. And I have the quote in writing! I called the company after he left asking why their price was so high. The person who answered the phone said she would have someone call me but they never did. Please do your due diligence and get quotes from other companies before settling on Total Comfort. Will be sharing the information to Quiet Cool to see if they want to continue having a company like this offer their product. Shame on you. read more

We had an issue with our thermostat not syncing with our router. We've had the unit almost a year with no previous problems. We called up Total Comfort and they sent out a technician the next day. Edwin Garcia came over in a timely manner and greeted us with a smile. That pretty much set the tone of the visit. He asked what our issue was and he attempted to remedy the situation. Because he wasn't able to do it, he called Ecobee and got followed the agent's instructions and in no time, our thermostat was syncing and everything was back to normal. I originally called Total Comfort, Inc. for a second opinion after receiving an INSANE quote from another company based out of Ontario to fix my broken whole house fan. After speaking with the rep on the phone they waived their customary $69 fee since it was for a second opinion. I wanted a local company that I could work with and wanted a vendor I could rely upon to service my home. They setup an appointment for several days later and that worked perfectly with my schedule. I was not home at the time and my wife met with Randy to get a quote. Randy and his team did a complete inspection of my existing ceiling fan and gave me several viable options of repairing it (it was in BAD shape), or replacing it with a new similar model. My fan was 6 years old, had a broken belt, and was leaking fluid. After some discussion with Randy I opted to just replace the unit as the price they quoted was fantastic. Less than 50% of the previous quote I had received. I went ahead and gave Randy the approval to move forward with the project. Randy and his team came out on a saturday morning and had the project done very quickly. They identified some potential trouble ductwork issues in my attic and fixed them while they installed the new fan. The respect for my home and family that Randy and the rest of his team observed cannot be overstated. They were very clean, respectful and meticulous. I appreciated the honest up front pricing that I was given and the quality of the work. While they were onsite I asked Randy if he could give me a ballpark quote on replacing my aging 30+ yr old furnance & leaky a/c unit. Randy got back to me about 2 hours later with an exact quote that was very reasonable. After some discussion we managed to get a great unit that fit perfectly in my home for what we were looking for. Randy and his team helped me secure the proper funding and took care of all the permits. As was the case with the whole house fan install his team was once again absolutely fantastic and had the old unit pulled and the new unit completely installed in 1 day. Randy has his team answered all of our question completely and without any hesitation. During the install of the new unit his team brought to my wife's attention that we have a leak in our water heater and did a routine check at my wife's request. Turns out the water heater in my house was installed in 2010 and has lasted about 18 years. Definitely over the service life of standard water heater. Randy explained the situation to the company boss and they offered me a fantastic deal to change out my water heater. I was so pleased with the results of the previous jobs and the straight dealing I have had with this Company, Randy and his crew that we just approved project number 3 and are moving forward with the replacement of the aged water heater and moving to a new tankless water heater in my home. What I liked about this company and what set them above the rest: 1. Straight up fair and honest pricing the first time. 2. Randy and his team treated my house and my family with the utmost respect. 3. When Randy says he will get back to you, he WILL get back to you. He's a busy guy and he followed up every question and concern I had EVERYTIME. 4. Randy and his team were extremely clean, quick, and accurate on their installs. 5. At no time was there ANY sales pressure. In fact all inquiries for quotes were initiated by me based on personally what I observed of their work ethic and actions. I am not a handy guy with house stuff and I know my limitations. This has been one of the few contractors that I have dealt with in the 4+ years of owning my home that I did not feel that I was being taken advantage of or pressured into purchasing anything. Let me start by saying that I cannot imagine how this company got any 5 star reviews. On a Sunday (7/9/17) my AC started blowing warm air. The system is old, 27 years but has never failed. After many calls trying to get some help on a Sunday, through an internet add I called Total Comfort in Coronal, CA. So "Omar" calls me back after a couple of hours and offers to send some out for a Sunday service charge of 189.00. I thought this was pretty outrageous, but my wife is old and not in good health, so I agreed to the charge because I did not want her to suffer in the 100 degree heat. The tech was supposed to show up at 2 pm (already hot) then after several calls by me to find out where the tech was, Omar calls and says the tech will be here at 4 pm (hotter still). Well, "Edgar" shows up here at 5 pm and checks out my unit. After connecting his diagnostic equipment he says Freon OK, must need new starting cap. He removed my old cap and installs a new one. Compressor then starts and all seems well, until he presents me with a $581.00 bill. I later looked up the cap he installed and it is a $50 part at best. Super high bill, but what could I do. He got my credit card number and signature and was gone. Stupid on my part to sign. One day later, the air started to blow warm again. Also, the outside unit was making strange whining and blowing sounds, even when the outside unit should be off. Obviously another problem was created with some of the wiring installing the new cap. I tried several calls the next day on Tuesday and then Wednesday to Total Comfort and had to leave messages because they have an answering service and will not answer their phones. Especially if someone is calling for a return service that the customer might not have to pay for. So yesterday, I called Magnolia Heat and Cooling. They came out the same day, evaluated my system and showed me why it was shot. Visually showed me the corroded lines and other obvious faults. Why couldn't the Total Comfort tech done this? Just wanted to make a quick buck. So, end of story is that Magnolia Heat and Cooling will be installing a whole new system on Saturday (7/15/17). Should have waited on day from the Sunday visit and called more reputable people first. When you see some 1 star (can't give lower) ratings on Yelp, believe it! Charged my credit card, hurried work because the tech was hot, and they will not call me back because I want this redone. read more

Total Comfort sent their HVAC technician, Randy Gutierrez to work on my AC thermostat. He was able identify the problem and changed it out quickly and efficiently. He also checked my air filter and checked the temperature output with his laser readers to ensure proper air distribution. Additionally, he checked the ducts in the attic to make sure they were properly sealed, luckily they were. Finally, he gave me an estimate on a more efficient AC unit. My most recent service request started with a bad taste as the replacement motor ordered by Total Comfort didn't arrive even after 3 weeks. They somehow figured out a way and installed the part and got the unit up again. Technician (Will Powers)was thorough and friendly. He took care of required work very well. I am removing two stars for a bad experience dealing with office and the process. I had to follow up and then only got to know that there is some issue and they scheduled the repair twice but key cancelling it due to part unavailability. Understand that Total Comfort is not manufacturing the parts but a good support process and keeping the customer apprised with the situation is what I expected. read more

This company strictly focuses on sales. you call them and ask for service and all they care about is how they are going to sale you a brand new unit, they'll send the most sales oriented tech (depending how old your system is) to sale you something you don't need. Also The whole UPP membership they sale you is a scam! the only reason they have that is for them to go out every few months for "complimentary tune ups" but it's just a way to take money from you each visit they go out too until you're ready for that new unit. This is second time I am experiencing this type of miscommunication. The technician Dimitrios Dauvikas handled the situation excellent. He took the moment to understand the situation and explained the benefits. Because of how he handled the situation, I am thinking of installing F100. We have used Total Comfort few times after moving into our brand new home. They have an agreement with our Builder to provide warranty services for our AC & Heating System. Their technicians are very professional and always arrive on time. At the end of each visit they always explain the cause of the issue and actions performed to fix it. We are seriously considering hiring them for annual maintenance on our system once the warranty offered by Builders expires. read more

We appreciate how quickly Total Comfort responded when we told them our air conditioning quit working. Having only been in our newly-built home for less than two years, we were understandably concerned that such a problem occurred. We also worried that with the excessive heat predicted over the next few weeks being without air conditioning would be uncomfortable at best, and potentially a health risk. The technician, who was very polite and efficient, determined the problem was a leak in the cooling coil and let us know he would order the replacement of the offending part. Even though we were going to have to wait to get the problem fixed, he recharged the refrigerant so that we would still have cooling while we waited for the part. We only give four stars for the moment but, assuming the permanent fix is accomplished in a timely manner, we will be happy to upgrade our review. All-in-all, a pleasant experience so far. read more

What a great bunch of guys. It all started with the purchase of our home that was built in the 70s. We had Asbestos duct work. We wanted it gone so we called them and some other companies in the orange county register. By far total comfort was not only the best price but also the most reliable when It came to scheduling the appointment (Omar) and actually being on time. I was very disappointed in this company. I had them come and give me a estimate on my a/c do to it not cooling upstairs. This service tech was very friendly but I believe I was being scammed into buying something that wasn't needed. The part he quoted me was over 500.00 along with telling me my freon was low and also a part was burned that would need to be replaced. The quote they gave me for everything was over 1300.00. I said I would think about it. Got another quote from a local experienced a/c company.Paid 165.00 for the part that was needed and was told none of the other things were broken nor did my freon need to be filled. Edgar was here on time. Very friendly and very efficient in his work. He was a fantastic guy and even pointed out my fence had come apart in an area in the back yard, which I hadn't discovered yet. He then asked me if I had a board and saw, and proceeded to cut the board and put a few nails in it to secure the fence temporarily. Disappointed... I had been a member of the annual service plan and until recently, it always seemed to be a worthy investment. I have an older unit and Total Comfort has replaced numerous parts on it. However, the last few times when a technician comes out to do an inspection it is no less than $300 for new parts and accessories every single time. They seem to want to replace parts before they actually fail and instead encourage you to do it "before it breaks, and you don't have AC" The most recent repair seemed to be more complex than others. They replaced the motor and within the first month it stopped working again. Because it was still under warranty they came out to fix it at no charge. However, they told me that this time it wasn't the motor that was failing, but the fan. I was skeptical because we had just replaced the motor a couple weeks prior and I wasn't convinced it wasn't something related to that. I declined replacing the fan and decided to get a second opinion. Sure enough, turns out the motor wasn't hooked up correctly initially, causing the fan to overheat. No need for a new fan after all. Funny thing is, I never heard back from Total Comfort when I declined installing a new fan. read more

My current A/C was about 20 years old and starting to run very poorly. I contacted Total Comfort and they immediately sent Troy over to my place. He thoroughly inspected my home and recommended a choice that met my price point. Troy was very professional and attentive, took the time to explain all the details of the equipment and its instillation. The next day the technicians were at my home installing my brand new A/C and furnace complete with new ducts. The gentlemen who performed the work in my home were informative and very professional. My Freon was low and I simply wanted them to fill it up with two lbs of R22. The technician agreed there was no other problem but maybe some potential leak somewhere and offered to put in some liquid. They wanted to charge me $595! I protested to the technician and he called the owner to convey my message. The owner wouldn't budge and offered to only lower $50. I paid them $69 for the trip and sent the technician back. A total waste of time. No wonder they have so many bad reviews. They not only over charged her for their services, but they didnt even do half of what they said they put on the receipt. Now my husband has been doing heating and air for over 10 years so when i found out she had her ac fixed i had him go make sure it was done right. Not only did they not do it right they DIDNT EVEN DO IT AT ALL!!! They put a $50 part on and charged her 1300 dollars!!!! When confronted about robbing a poor old lady they said that they we just recommended for her to do all this. Now keep in mind they CHARGED HER for what they claimed to have just "recommended" for her to do. I have been using Total Comfort for Many years on their maintenance program and have always been happy. That is until we were up-sold to an entirely new AC system 6 months ago. I have had repair men out to my house 8 times, and the system still is not working right. Their customer service is good, but somehow they messed on my system and are not able to fix it. For all their talk of superior product and quality I am completely disappointed. For the price we paid....it should work perfectly for many many years. I am thoroughly frustrated with the company's work and am ready to ask for the system to be removed from my house for a full refund. We we finally believed them and change too Honeywell two zone system that has worked very well for us. Total Comfort? TOTAL RIPOFF is more like it! Listen guys, you know us. We're positive. We like to write positive reviews, provide encouragement and give praise to most establishments. In our experience, most businesses, restaurants and their employees try really hard to do a good job and we're there to give them a big thumbs up and spread the news. Then, rarely, you run into a completely crooked outfit like "Total Comfort." We admit it, we don't know much about air conditioning. That's why we call in an expert and we trust them to do a good job at a fair price. And, that's fair. But, what we don't expect is to be completely taken advantage of by them. That's unfair. We just wanted our A/C fixed. We don't want to be made to feel stupid and victimized. But, that's exactly what the people at "Total Comfort" did. So, what's the beef? Well, we could, and normally would, overlook being late to the appointment. But, what we can't overlook is being charged $480 for an $11 part. Yes, you read that right. How do we know? Well, because the quoted price seemed high, we snapped a picture of the replacement box and then, to our dismay, Googled it. We found the exact part, a capacitor, at full retail, on Amazon for $11.67 with free shipping! (And, it's not even the top of the line product!). They also excessively marked up our fuses. But, what makes them crooked was taking everything away (the supposedly "bad" parts and all the replacement packaging) so that we, like most of you out there, couldn't double check the truthfulness and honesty of this operation. They knew it was a ripoff and they intentionally took away the evidence. You're probably thinking, well, maybe this was a complicated job or took a lot of time. Nope, the entire job was done in less than an hour, with much of that time going back and forth to the van and rummaging around. Actual work was about half an hour: removing some screws with a drill and popping out the modular components. Whole bill for this "service?" $680! Terrible! Nothing like being made to feel stupid. Yes, that was our mistake and we paid the bill in full because, yes, it was our mistake in trusting this company. Don't make the same mistake. You've been warned. Our advice is to stay far away from this business because they ripped us off with a smile on their face. If there was a way for me to give less than 1 star I would! Total Comfort, Inc is a complete fraud of a company! They come in and waste time for the home owner not really ever saying whats wrong with the unit but instead trying to sell a new unit instead. One of their technicians compared the company to Nordstrom! When repairing a unit.. its either repaired or its not. Why does a company need 10X more overhead on prices and charges compared to other companies. Maybe for the crisp white shirts that they come in. I highly doubt any of their guys even know how to do a diagnostic run on the units. All they do is keep stalling until the "supervisor" (aka sales guy) comes to your home only to try to sell you a new unit again! All I asked for is a simple quote...then if you can even believe this... the main supervisor says "why should I waste my time giving a quote because you wont go with us, you are going to shop it around" DUH!!! Of course I'm going to shop it around!! Which idiot does a major repair on a house these days without shopping a quote around????? Common now, if these guys don't even understand the basics of business they have no idea what they are doing. If you want HONEST and trustworthy company DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!
