I was in the whiskey section today, browsing. I am fairly knowledgeable, as I have been tasting, buying, and researching American whiskey for the last several years. I was excited to see Castle and Key's Restoration Rye, and since I'd been searching for the first batch, I was momentarily stunned to see a "Batch 1", but from 2021. An older gentleman asked me just about then whether I needed help. I smiled and said "Thanks, but probably not!" and explained that 2020's selection was likely gone from shelves. He agreed with me, but then said, "But how would you know the difference between the batches?" with a knowing smile. In the moment, I couldn't decide if he was being serious--multiple sources describe significant differences between the batches--and my feeling of being mocked only solidified when he walked away, saying over his shoulder, "Have a nice da-ay!" Please don't treat your customers like they don't know what they're doing. I have sampled 130+ whisk(e)ys, and I didn't need this guy belittling me. read more

This is a great place to find amazing selection. I want to really mention in this review their great curbside service during COVID. We have used it a few times and it ROCKS! No contact, fast and friendly delivery to your car, curbside, no lines and quick! Most of the time we can order the same day and get it. I highly recommend giving it a try. I have had good expierence a here in the past, but I felt this needed to be addressed. I came in and needed 4-5 wine boxes to pack up some wine to move. I asked a employee and she said no problem. I picked out the boxes, picked out cigar boxes to purchase and then asked if I could leave the cart for a moment to go shop for some bottles of liquor I was looking for. When I get up to the front a few minuets later with the bottles to check out Another employee named "Wen" was taking the boxes out of my cart. When I asked why she said that I could not have any of those boxes o my o es without dividers. Here is where my issue is. I was purchasing $75 in booze and she didn't even have the customer service sense to offer me one or two boxes. I thought it was petty and lacked good service. It is things like this that cause people to make different choices in where they shop. And now I still have to find 3-4 boxes to get ready to move. Stay away until they learn Covid-19 Safety. Even after the governor's order to wear masks indoors, they had multiple STAFF working without masks, or wearing masks incorrectly (I didn't know having it around your neck was an effective method of wearing.) I went to the customer service counter, which doesn't have a plexiglass shield like the checkout counters, so I could politely suggest they quickly get the staff reminded about the mask order, and the person who turned around to greet me wasn't wearing a mask. I will be doing my wine shopping at Costco until they get this cleaned up. Bummer. read more

Yikes! Or Wow! Depends on which way you want to look at this place. It's huge! Where to start? How about wine? As opposed to most places I know, the wines are separated and grouped by varietal instead of by country. If you're looking for a specific wine, my suggestion is to ask for help. It's not easy to find what you're looking for, if it's obscure. And yes, they do carry first growths as well as the hard to obtain Chateau Petrus. Scotch? Yeah it's here too, including cocktail embellishments and garnishes. Beer? They had a lot and I'm no expert. They just had a lot. There's cigars here along with a humidor. My sibling and I were planning to purchase a few things on our way out from another store next door . Though one of our sisters is a minor we knew it would be alright as we are all her legal guardians and per their policy we would be able to make our our purchase . Not only did they not sell to us , but even after showing ID for our sister who is a minor . no explanation was given on the why . If they are to enforce this group policy of theirs . I would hope that they do it for every group that comes in with a minor ( we saw quite a few of groups walk in with children younger than our sister ) . No issue with them enforcing their policy , but don't just pick and choose . I suggest going to the Bevmo nearby service was not only efficient, but no judgmental/ condescending tones .we were in and out within a few minutes . read more

I went here to shop for some spirits as presents for my friends in Ukraine before my trip. I came across a brand of Kentucky whisky I bought last year, and was happy to see it in stock. However, I was puzzled to find it for 36$ on the shelf, while same exact bottle on top of an oak barrel in promotional area was priced at 109$. Nothing about it short of lot number was different. I asked the floor manager for explanation. All he was able to give me was that the 109$ version came from the oak barrel it was sitting on. He promptly ran away before I could ask any more questions. In bewilderment, I grabbed the bottle off the shelf priced at 36$, but surprises didn't end there, because I ended up paying 56$ for it. LOVE Total Wine. This place always comes through when you're hosting a party, looking for a gift, or just browsing for some patio drinking options. They always have a wonderful stock of seasonal goodies and you can't beat their wine tastings! I have been a veteran shopper here, but apparently never made the time to leave a review! Yesterday I went in specifically for 1 thing; a bottle of Prosecco for my friends birthday present. The moment I walked into the store I was greeted and shown to the Prosecco section. I had been eyeing the Giuliana Prosecco (yes, Giuliana Rancic's Prosecco! I was already sold purely on the good reviews, the fact that I LOVE G AND BILL, and the fact that the bottle was sleek and sophisticated. I was informed they were doing an in store tasting, so I wandered on over to get my taste on. Bud was serving up samples of the Prosecco and some other goodies. He was so incredibly friendly and had some great facts about the pairings, etc. I fell in love with the Prosecco and thought I was done with my shopping! But then Bud did an awesome job of asking if I wanted to continue the tasting tour to sample some Rosè and Sauv Blanc; um, yes! The tasting was so much fun and I ended up walking out with the ONE thing I came for AND THEN about 6 other bottles... Whoops! Bud was a great salesman, not pushy! I used to come here every weekend to browse through their miscellaneous beer can/bottle sections. This was almost therapeutic for me because I could stroll through the store and find some awesome new beer to try. While I have sort of shifted from my hard core beer snob days, I still like to see what they have been offered. Plus it's nice having the option to not commit to an expensive 6 pack that you end up not being a fan of. If you're looking for really any price range of alcohol for gifting or dinner parties, you have a one stop shop here. They even have awesome event cards, present bags, and lots of snacks! After several days of snow went to curb side pick up my large order on the first clear and sunny day 2 days before New Years. Arrived and signs were up that there was no curb side pick up. Called and spoke with manager "Patrick" who said he personally had cancelled curb side pick up because "it is 15 degrees out and I refuse to expose my staff to the elements." Facts: it was 27 degrees out with clear blue sunny skies. Parking lot was clear of ice and snow. When I went in there were at least 4 staff members standing around pick up area so obviously staffing was not the issue. The order they put in my cart was short one item. I love that we can always go to Total Wine and More to find an old or new favorite drink. One of our favorite things to do is to grab a random drink based on bottle here, and 9/10 we love it! We've always gotten help with wines here and staff has always been eager to assist and recommend. I was searching for the oh so perfect bottle of rum for my fiance for a wedding gift. After attempting to visit multiple distilleries Seattle and North of Seattle, battling traffic, and getting a bad case of the H-angries, I finally decided to stop in here and see what type of local rum they had. They. Have. Everything. Here. Holy smokes, how can one place have so many bottles of tantalizingly delicious looking beverages? I casually happened to choose a wine aisle to walk down as I made my way to the back of the store where the hard liquor is kept and after several pauses and ponderings about how many bottles of wine I NEED at such a reasonable price, I had to remind myself that I was here for a gift. As wine is more my thing I'm sure I looked more than a little lost in the rum aisle. A nice sales associate came over and asked if I needed any help. I told him I was looking for a great bottle of rum and something local. Something that would be special and reminiscent of the place where we are getting married. He recommended 3 Howls, a local distillery I had been having trouble getting into for a tasting. There was also another local rum I had already managed to sample at a restaurant I was thinking about getting. He told me they usually can open a bottle here and there for customers to sample before making a purchase, which really surprised me and I thought was great; however, today there was a local vendor already giving out samples of another type of alcohol and on these days they can't compete. Makes sense. I was completely shocked though when he told me their return policy. That if I opened them both up and sampled them at home and decided I didn't like one I could return it. Jaw. Drop. That was enough to convince me to buy both the bottle I had initially came in looking for as well as the 3 Howls limited edition he recommended. Naturally after sampling both at home I decided my fiance just "needed" to have them both. One can never have too much rum. Now, based off my math, I think that means since I was selfless and bought him 2 bottles of rum, next time I go in I get 6 bottles of wine. I'm pretty sure that's how wife mathematics work. I appreciated the selection, the customer service, the reasonable prices, and most certainly their return policy is a bonus. read more

I still don't like the change in Washington's liquor laws, but Total Wine & More goes a long way in soothing the hurt. TW&M has a vast selection of beer that is positively jaw-dropping, with an astounding number of stouts, porters and ales. It reminds me of the exciting early days of microbrews in the late 80s/early 90s, when even places like Safeway had impressive selections. Back then, I used to save a bottle from each of the different beers I had bought, with the collection lining the tops of all my kitchen cupboards. But when we got married, JP made me get rid of the entire collection, not caring for the bachelor pad look. And hey, the gin selection at TW&M is impressive, with a number of French gins made from wheat that I'll have to try. TW&M even sells cigars out of a humidor. I was so giddy seeing the mammoth selection that I actually bought a blonde cigar, despite not having smoked a cigar since college. I smoked about 1/8 of it later in the evening. It tasted and smelled wonderful, and blowing smoke rings was nostalgic, but I felt poisoned for two days afterwards. Now I remember why I don't smoke anymore. But I still love cigars. Checkout is a breeze. Aside from the hefty new WSLCB taxes, prices are reasonable. Lots of checkstands and no wait in line. read more

The selection is pretty amazing, and a lot of the prices are pretty right on. They beat the crap out of breweries, wineries, and distributors over cost. That puts a good price on the shelf in some cases, most notably with a few beers and wines. This is an entire supermarket worth of aisles and coolers, all devoted to intoxicants of one form or another. You see wines when you walk in; walk to the far side of the front of the store and you're in the beer aisles. Toward the back is the liquor. I didn't check out the wines too much, but they seemed well organized by region and varietal from what I could tell walking by. The beers are organized by country, with a whole aisle of American beers organized by the bigger style families--IPAs, stouts, and so on. There are lots of people standing their shaking their head, just looking for familiar names. Lots of people walking up to sales clerks with one name written on a piece of paper. Most of the beers are singles, and you can mix and match. There are a few six-packs, most of them are in coolers on the back wall. There are sixers and half racks and cases of the big industrial beers on another aisle. A few foreign industrial beers get lumped in with craft beers--Kokanee in with the Unibroue, Stella Artois in with the lambics, Kirin and Sapporo on the Japan shelf, and so on. The liquor is segmented by type, with the exception of a few expensive items of different type grouped together behind locked glass. The tequila selection is pretty good, and it's all alphabetized by distiller. So you get, say, all the Don Julios together, rather than all the anejos over there and all the reposados over here. The scotches are divided into blends and single malts, thankfully. They're also alphabetized. This approach is particularly problematic with single malts--in their case, doing it by region would be better for people just learning about scotch as well as more experienced folks. It would take a little explaining in a pamphlet/buyer's guide, but not as much as just alphabetizing every single single malt and then explaining each one independent of region. They're actually pretty great about putting little buyer's guides out, truth be told. They're free, and there seem to be little stacks of them on just about every aisle. What's important to keep in mind is a factor that has nothing to do with TW&M. Prices are now higher on liquor. It wasn't that long ago Lagavulin 16 was about $65 a fifth--maybe 8 years or so. Now, with all the extra fees, it's close to $100. That's quite a jump. I'm not sure if other places can sell it to you for $94 where you'll pay $98 here, or what. But at that point it's not worth burning the gas to get those savings. I could definitely see shopping here for bulk purchases (like before a party, or stocking a new bar or something). And the selection is vastly larger than supermarkets can offer. They don't seem to have all the special beer releases that the little bottle shops have, but they did have at least one (Sneaky Pete from Laughing Dog) that's not everywhere. Virtually none of the beer here is cold, though they do offer a few taps for tasters and growler fills. Bottom line, they're a viable alternative for alcohol purchases, but there's no one thing I can point to that makes them a hands-down favorite by any means. read more

This place is the mother of all beer, wine, and liquor stores. When you look at it from the outside you think what is this place. Total Wine. Kind of throws you off because I was thinking it looked like some dollar store or something. I walked in not even having a clue of what it was. I heard the sounded of angels chime in my ears. You have to check this place out. The prices are really reasonable on most things. The staff is knowledgeable. The best thing of all you can taste.....BEER!!! They do growlers of random kegs. They have everything well organized. All the wine is sorted by different blends, the beer is sorted by types, seasonals, IPA's, Porters, etc. Best of all they have some great prices on liquor. I tried some Vodka called Veil. $18 a half gal distilled 5 times. Made for some great bloodies! It's right next to Uwajimaya so you can get your liquor on and then hop on next door for some asian food or Indian food across the parking lot. Buzzed and full! Life is good!! read more

First, I should say I am not much of a wine enthusiast, and wine takes up a plurality of the shelf space here. With that out of the way, this place is awesome. They have a great selection of liquors, and the staff really tries to bring in high-quality craft and micro beers - and not just from the Northwest either. I like to fill my growler up here, because while the line-up changes all the time, they always have at least one or two beers that I like if I do not feel like experimenting with something different. While they fill it up, I just walk up and down the beer aisle and see if anything catches my interest - it's like a candy store for a beer-drinker! Plus, if you see a beer you want to try, but don't want to buy a pack, you can buy an individual can. Sometimes I end up leaving with my own custom six-pack in addition to my growler. Congrats Total Wine, you're five star review #10 for me. That's rarefied air, like the American Express Centurion card, not many get to experience how awesome it is to have one. The selection here is out of this world. Wine and spirits are readily available that I've usually had to special order, or get online. I was able to purchase bottles of Pétrus, Armand de Brignac, and Krug among several others. My liquor cabinet is now full of my favorite spirits, The Macallan 25 and Hangar One's "Tasting Room" Series to name a few, because of Total Wine. Prices are so reasonable, you'll buy DOUBLE what you intended to. I can't stress just how VAST their selections are. It doesn't matter if you're a connoisseur, or just looking for something that tastes good and is inexpensive, you'll find it here. If you already know what you're looking for before you come in, you can grab and go. However, if you're looking for a place to see a cornucopia of alcohol, and expand your knowledge and palate, this place is your mecca. Well done Total Wine, well done. Disclaimer - I'm visiting from California and I have no idea how Washington liquor sales law works, so if this employee's behavior is a Washington law, please ignore my comment. So me and my friend walked into this store as the last stop for our après-ski grocery shopping. Therefore, when the woman at registrar asked for both of our IDs, I had nothing to show her except for my ski pass. When I told her that I don't have my ID with me, she immediately stopped talking to me and started yelling at her boss in a very high-pitched voice for ID check. Her boss came along, told us that they can't sell any alcohol to either of us without seeing everyone's ID, and all this time the original person was standing there smiling, looking pretty happy, and never talked to us again until we left. Now, I understand maybe the store has a policy about checking everyone's ID, but I don't know why she had to call her boss and why she had to be so rude. Was it because this woman, an employed grown-up tasked with customer interaction, was truly lacking the linguistic capability to say "I need to see everyone's ID"? Was she genuinely confused and couldn't tell the difference between one driver's license and two driver's licenses? Was she required by law to treat everyone wearing their ski jacket as criminal suspects? Or was she just a rude person who made it her career goal to make every customer as uncomfortable as possible. read more

Do you like bait-and-switch-like sales practices and retail shenanigans? Well, this is your spot. Traveled down there this afternoon to purchase a bottle of 18 year old bourbon, found it in the locked case, listed at the full WA retail price (which, +tax is highway robbery, mind you). I proceeded to call a sales associate over who courteously and promptly unlocked the case and carried it up front for me. There I was met by a wine manager (let's call him "JC") who proceeded to tell me the bottle was not for sale to me. Since I was not a "concierge member".[let's stop the tape right there]. [stares into camera, breaking the 4th wall, Ferris Bueller-style) So, let's unpack what he just intimated. He is reserving that bottle for the "concierge club". Now, let me tell you what I learned about the concierge club (primarily a wine club). It is a non-exclusive (which is good) club that requires nothing more than calling a 1800# to join. No history of loyalty or threshold of past purchases--just a phone call. Having spent waaay too much on wine, booze and beer at this joint (I'm a GRAND RESERVE member--which is the highest tier of the "total discovery program"). I just can't square his thinking? ...So, this guy refuses to sell: 1) an item that was on the sales floor, with a listed sales price, to 2) a highly loyal customer who has a considerable purchase history, because: I'm not on a free-to-all E-mail list??? Pure retail management malpractice. [start the tape again] He proceeds to feed me a line about, how he had made a mistake in pricing it and putting it out on the floor... I proceed to explain, that, despite his mistake, the item was on the sales floor, on offer at a stated price, and not to worry because I'm a loyal grand reserve member and he should do what's right and honor the sale and make this loyal customer happy. So did he end up doing the honorable thing... Nah... yadda-yadda... I get what many of you are thinking. BOO HOO! This is the #1 crying towel problem in retail, just another butt-hurt sucker that thinks he's entitled to purchase an item at full retail that was on offer on the sales floor. Yeah, I do feel like that guy today. Sometimes, just venting into the cold, dark, and lonely, cyberwebs makes you feel a bit better. It really does. Anyhow, like an Aesops fable, there is an important lesson to learn here folks. If you are looking for liquor or spirits, this is what you should do: First: Call around to see if it's in stock at a local shop (Bob's Liquors, Redmond Ridge Spirits, there are others out there) FIRST. Unless you enjoy a good sado-masochistic retail cuckolding. If that's your thing, by all means GO TO THIS TW, do not pass Go, do not collect your $200! So, anyhow where was I, oh yeah... Second: Build a relationship with the folks that work at that local liquor store. They are more likely to appreciate your business and treat you well over time. That is all. carry on. read more

If you want it, there is a 99.9% they have it (unless it's super popular and has sold-out). If you go in there with no plan, you'll come out with a cart full of booze you didn't know you wanted until you saw it on the shelf. Seriously, my husband waits in the car while I run in for my beloved Enza Rose Prosecco - try it, you'll love it. He says "every time I go in there Sarah, I end up spending $100+ on scotch so I better just wait in the car!" They have wine / beer / spirit tasting on the weekends which is always fun. The staff is super nice and will go out of their way to help you find what you're looking for. They're also super great at suggesting alternatives to my stand by favs. It's always nice to mix it up from time to time. Seriously - I love it here. Awful experience. Awful customer service. My friend who is visiting internationally wants to make a tiramisu cake, so we stopped at this store to get some rum. She didn't have her passport with her and I had my ID. The cashier and the manager want both of our ID. I understand they have policies to follow. What pissed me off is they started their interrogation with "the REAL QUESTION is why don't you carry your ID with you?" I don't know why they felt the needs to insult and attack their customers. Sometimes when people travel they don't carry their passports all the time. I'm amazed how this store train their employees on how to be offensive and rude towards their customers. Maybe it's big enough that basic customer service is not necessary. Strongly don't recommend. read more

This is as close to "as good as it gets" that I have found.The beer selection is second to none and the amount of wines to select from left me dumbfounded. Absolutely terrible experience with their checkout process. After spending a long time selecting the wines we wanted, my husband and I were treated horribly by the team when we assumed one person having their wallet on them would be enough. Apparently, two young professionals looking to purchase a bottle of wine should be stared down and told "hmm you could be under 21, sorry" as you snatch away their items (including a candy bar) and shoo them out the door. Was looking forward to attending some of their events in the future but don't see myself supporting a business with this terrible of customer service, though I have previously really enjoyed this store and the variety of options. This chain has BY FAR the best selection and lowest prices on beer and liquor. BY FAR. Rolling Rock 18-pack bottles are absurdly cheap, as is their bottom-shelf house brand for rum, vodka, whisky, and so forth. Although that's still cheap and nasty, Total Wine manages to somehow make it more palatable than the usual rotgut - like that plastic, family-size Black Velvet bottle that will set you back an extra $5 at Fred Meyer. For you connoisseurs, aka snobs, who can stomach the literally vomit-inducing literal spoiled-grape-juice known as wine, there seems to be a great selection. read more

I usually go to the Total Wine in Interbay. However, I found myself in Bellevue recently, and therefore decided to stop in here since I needed to pick up some liquor anyway. The parking lot is shared with Uwajimaya, so parking can be a bit tight (especially on weekends). We lucked out by finding a spot at once, but I think a couple of circles should do the trick in general. Since it happened to be a Saturday afternoon, tastings were in progress! We indulged in some whiskeys from eastern Washington. Wine and beer tastings were also ongoing, but we didn't participate in them. Keep in mind that the store does tastings every single weekend, and the tastings do not feature bottom shelf stuff! We had rum, bourbon, and chocolate bitters on our shopping list for the afternoon. The associates in the store were very thorough and patient in helping us find bottles that suited our needs and our price points. Since Total Wine imports spirits directly from a lot of distilleries, they cut out the middleman--and a lot of the cost--and are able to sell bottles to customers at significantly lower prices than other liquor stores. For instance, the white rum that we picked up at $12 for 750ml was such a steal! Cheaper than Bacardi, but waaay better--it ended up being ideal for Mai Tais, which was what we were buying the rum for anyway! I don't bother shopping anywhere else these days when it comes to booze. Kirkland-brand stuff at Costco will end up being a bit cheaper, but other brands are usually a couple of bucks cheaper here than at Costco. O.M.G.!!! Kid in candy store? Disneyland? Heaven? I am totally speechless the first time I walked in here! I have been to Taste of the World 2012, and I thought I have sen so many different wines in one place, but it was NOTHING compared to this!! Wines, beers, Liquors, ... I believe they have everything here! After my initial shopping spree, I have been back many times... Every time was still a treat, I discovered something new... Loved the tasting bar where I can taste and learn about different wines. To top the vast selection is the service. Every single person in the store was eager to help, can answer any question you have about wines, about items they have on the store. Awesome!! It will be complete heaven if Total Wine & More opens a store in San Francisco. read more

Horrible management/customer service. Went in to buy a bottle of cherry liquor for a birthday cake with my 20 year old sister. This was my first time at a total wine and more, there is NO SIGN outside saying minors can not be in the store. When attempting to check out, who I assume to be the manager, Suzanne, very rudely called out the fact that my sister was underage and that we had to get out. I stated I didn't realize minors are not allowed in the store, and she said "doesn't matter, and there's a big sign outside" and "you need to get out". I totally get the law is the law, but she was way too rude about it. She was acting like I was trying to cause trouble when in fact I was pretty mature and calm. It was ridiculous. I even asked if she had recommendations of where else I could find that specific brandy for the cake, her response was "I don't know, google it". She was beyond rude, it was borderline hostile towards us. By the way, there is NO sign saying anything about minors not being allowed in the store. If there was, it was not obvious. I checked for signs before entering and also after I was kicked out. I'm not upset about the law, I'm shocked at how rudely she treated us, making us feel like troublemakers when it was all very much a misunderstanding. Please make sure the feedback gets back to her, because no one deserves to be talked to like that. I will be sharing this story with anyone who tries to go to a Total Wine & More. read more

I came in at their grand opening and I stepped in the store while they just started the free wine tasting event, how could I not to give this store a 5 stars to welcome me like this??? Well, when I first walked in the store, it reminds me about all the BevMo stores in California except they have all the wine tasting stands over the store. And the more time i spent in the store, the more I found it is an interesting place to spend time at. They categorized all the different kind of beers, the wines and liquor in each section and it looks like they have a very compatible price in the comparison to the couple of wines I normally get in QFC or Safeway. Since I just walked in to check out the new store without any intention to get get new wines home, I do not know their wine variety without trying to look for any. I did try a couple of wine tasting stands though! They were kind of friendly, but not being too open to throw me the background or information about the wine they poured to my glass. But when I was ringing in the register, that lady told me it was the first day grand opening and i guess it explains it why all those people work at wine tasting stands did not seems like telling the customers much about what they are tasting. They were probably getting used to the environment themselves too. oh, and the cashier lady told me that this store called the store #81 and they are so ready to get the next store in Tukwila and more of Total Wine & More in the Washington state are coming soon too! I guess it is a good news for me while I always miss the BevMo in Cali. read more

Omg why did it take so long for me to walk through your doors? This is the super center for everything that's alcohol and more!!!! Such a cool store that one could get overwhelmed. I was amazed at their selection and the extremely helpful staff walking around making sure you were finding what you were looking for....even when I said I was just browsing he gave me an overview of the area and came back to check in a few mins later. Have to come back to try their tastings. Super excited I finally decided to stop in. read more
