Really had an awful experience today. We sat outside on the patio section and had to move a couple times since there were several heaters on. Our waiter was less than kind and sort of standoffish. Amazing! Chef Brendan Collins never disappoints when it comes to making very sexy dishes yet very casual. My wife and I had an array of dishes, lets start. We started off with the Poke and Meatballs, Amazing!!! The Poke was well seasoned and the leche de tigre was seriously fucking tasty! The meatballs are subpar any Italian restaurant and the garlic bread just makes me want to hate my gluten allergy. As we continued our 2nd course, we ordered the shirt rib and stuffed crust. There are not to many short rib dishes out there, but this one is elegant yet feels like something I should have ob a regular bases. The brown butter mash melts in your mouth and the sauce a long with the protein makes a very exquisite palate of flavors that is blind to the eye. The stuffed crust has italian meats and sausage, can you say its a hoise favorite?! yes! the best pizza and stuffed crust Ive ever had. The cheese melts into your mouth as well as the meats. No one is safe here. The Banoffee and Donut Holes were unique and delish. Banoffee being an english dessert, its reinvented yet pays homage to the classic dessert, its a flavor bomb in your mouth. Everything is tasty! We dont drink alcohol, but everybody kept raging about the drinks. Best restaurant in the South Bay! I was pretty upset that Fenner's closed down but Tower 12 didn't disappoint at all. They even kept some of the former staff, Luis at the door is the man, always making my T12 visits great right from the door. The drinks are amazing, strong and tasty. I don't even like Gin but I had their South Side of the Pier drink once and I guess I like it now. Most of their Tequila specialty drinks use Casamigos, my favorite it's nice not having to ask for it. The food selection is great too, I've had the banh mi burger, stuffed crust pizza, Thai pizza, ahi tuna poke, pretzel knots, everything is delicious and always comes with great service. I organized my birthday there on a Saturday night and the whole experience from the door to the check was a breeze. read more

We had a blast celebrating my husband's bday! Place is super cool! Decor is beachy eclectic plantation...really great. Good was super impressive! I loved the food..i was suprisigly impressed. Pizza dough is awesome. All the pizzas were yummy, the meatlovers was so yummy with cheese in the edges. Sat on the balcony overlooking the rest of the pier restaurants. I had the mint grape crush and it was a really good refreshing summer drink... I even had another (and usually I'm not a big tequila drinker). I also shared the sausage pizza and the burrata toast. Overall a really good vibe for brunch and the service was good. My boyfriend took me out on a date to Tower 12 and I had the most amazing experience. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. Russel was very attentive towards our drinks and food. He also suggested the meatballs and pretzels which were outstanding. The cheese for the pretzels was one of the best tasting quesos that I've ever tasted. The location is great, the decor is cool and the food great however we had a very negative experience on Saturday, March 10th, with the DJ that was playing on that night. We had a group of 10 friends celebrating a birthday and we were having a fantastic time dancing and drinking until the girls requested a song called Despacito to the DJ and he started being very aggressive to us to the point of showing the middle finger. I totally understand if he doesn't want to play the song ( even though he is there to entertain the public) but did not need to be disrespectful to us. My husband saw what happened and was furious with the situation. We all live in HB and we will not go back to Tower 12 until the DJ is no longer playing there. I also share my frustration with the security person called Luiz and he was very helpful at the moment saying that he was going to share it with management. I hope you guys get another DJ so you won't lose anymore clients like us. read more

On the night of July 8th 2018, last Sunday I went through yet another aggressive and restrictive situation of segregation in my life, but this time it was right here in the United States... Myself along with three other friends went to a bar called Tower 12 which is located on the pier of Hermosa Beach in California. We arrived around 9pm and upon arrival the security of the bar did not allow us to enter, claiming that we were wearing tank tops and those were not appropriate attire for the establishment. Although we thought it was a strange request, we did not complain and went to the car to change. When we came back, the same security officer prohibited my entry once again claiming that I put a T-shirt under the basketball shirt that I forced myself to wear. That's when the most absurd situation started to happen, at that very moment a white man and his blonde girlfriend/friend arrived. He was wearing the exact same tank top my friend was wearing and the security officer simply looked at his ID and LET THE WHITE MAN ENTER WITHOUT QUESTIONING HIS CLOTHES!!!! I went and asked him why the other men wearing a tank top was allowed in and I was not. He proceeded to ignore me and continued to prohibit my entry. We then called the manager who came to talk to us but the security officer disappeared. The manager tried to apologize and even tried to "calm us down" by offering us free food and drinks, but This is not what we wanted: WE WANTED OUR PRESERVED DIGNITY. The worst was yet to come: We called the police who appeared 5 minutes after, but only spoke to another security officer that was at the door at that time and did not hear my side of the story to understand what happened even though I called him several times to talk to me. His attitude was conniving to the bar's segregation policy. He went away without attending or listening to us. I'm a black Brazilian, man who has all his documents in order: I pay my taxes, own a social security card and am allowed to live and work in this country. My father is an African, grow up in USA, professor at the University of Kent Ohio. My sisters are Americans who live in Los Angeles, and I have other American siblings in USA. I DO NOT WANT OR NEED FREE FOOD OR DRINKS FROM ANY BAR, I JUST WANT MY FREEDOM TO EXERCISE ALL MY RIGHTS AND DUTIES LIKE ANY CITIZEN HERE! The question that remains after my report is... are you against racism or do you think like the owners and employees of Tower 12 who consider that black people are not welcome and cannot mix with whites in their establishment? First time going they gave my whole dinner to someone else and said sorry so I had to wait another hour for my food. Last night I tried to give the restaurant another chance and take my mother out for her birthday and I unraveled my silverware and it was caked in dried up sauce with a dirt used napkin. I really enjoyed this place. The cutest friendly, homey, nature-y atmosphere! Also right on the beach!! Has to be one of my favorite on-beach venues. The scenery was incredible. Their food was also really tasty, but their happy hour was even better! This place is great, especially Thursday nights for karaoke. I finally got to go check this place out on a Saturday night and as soon as i walked in went to the right side of this place and my bf and i waited for 15 mins maybe even 20 just for the bartender to ask us what we wanted to drink, he completely ignored us and didn't acknowledge the fact that we were even there. It seemed like all he cared about was helping his friends, so after waiting i moved to a different side of the bar and another bartender quickly asked me what i wanted. Tower 12 is a very cool place. Each room is unique. The happy hour special is good. Unfortunately, the food is subpar. Each of our meals were disappointing. Went to visit an old friend in the area and they wanted to try this place out. We got there on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed but the wait for a table wasn't too long. We got seated after a short wait at the bar but it took them awhile to get a high chair for or friends two year old. In fact the service in general was slow but they always got what we needed and the staff was super friendly. The food was also very good. Had the ahi burger, though I prefer my ahi more flip flip raw (this one was a bit over cooked) the flavor was amaze balls. Fiancé got the Hawaiian pizza and I have to admit I snuck a bite even though I'm dieting and it made me cry happy tears. I would definitely come back here again. The reason for the 4 stars was that the dinning area was too crowded (yeah I know it's a bar but people constantly bumped the table and chairs) and the slow response time on service (not the server per-say but more so bringing out plates, napkins, water etc) read more

Rude service and racially biased dress code. When I talked to others about my experience my latin friends had the same problems. Restuarant wise they have a boring menu and they're overpriced like most other restaurants on the pier. But that's because the owner also owns Sharkeez and others nearby so it's no wonder they all have the same attitude. Take your money somewhere better like the lighthouse cafe or just skip Hermosa all together. Not much there but expensive drinks and racist bouncers anyways. read more

Luis the bouncer, is literally the epitome of terrible service. He swindles you for your money, sometimes seems like he made up the price right on the spot, and over charges you on non crowded nights. He'll let random people in by the groups, but intentionally split your group when he lets you in, and has cheeky grin on when he does it. I've watched group after group walk out of line because of their interaction with him. He's not worth the bar. It's a full grown man playing petty power trip games, and he loves ever bit of it. He's a horrible representation of the local vibe, and a terrible first encounter for any bar. He's the rudest bouncer I've ever met. As for the bar, it's a great vibe and a great place and it just really sucks you have to deal with that guy. When he works, people avoid the place because you know you're getting ripped off for no reason other than some pompous dudes trying have a power trip. read more

Tower 12 has found the perfect balance of upscale and casual. The food is outstandingly good and they are causing all of the other bars that serve food to pick up their game. It is a very comfortable setting where you can just go for drinks or can also have food that is at least as good as any restaurant in Hermosa. The prices are very reasonable and they have a great happy hour. The closest thing I can come to a criticism is that it is always so crowded (for good reason). read more

This is an awesome place to hang out! It does get really busy, but that's expected for a new place in Hermosa that's been hyped up for so long. We ended up waiting almost an hour for the table, but the hostess gave us a realistic time frame and kept us updated so we weren't surprised at all. Had some drinks and people watched in the meantime. Corina sat us in their back area, it has kind of a more lounge-type vibe. Our server Serena was really sweet and gave us really good suggestions for food/drinks. The burrata toast, cauliflower tempura, and the black & blue burger were all so good. We also got the pastrami sandwich, had too much cheese, but I love marble rye bread so I couldn't be too mad about it. In Hermosa? Go to Tower 12. Loved EVERYTHING about this place - food, service and decor. It may look like a super casual bar on the beach, but the food was insanely good. We sat in the bar area in order to keep an eye on our bikes down below, and the view of the pier from the 2nd floor was a perfect way to enjoy our Saturday afternoon lunch. I ordered the Beach City Fried Chicken Sandwich, in which they mentioned that they used Mary's chicken. At the first bite, I knew they weren't lying. It was a perfectly cooked, juicy, white chicken breast (please don't ever stop using quality ingredients?!?!). My husband ordered The Frenchie, and he said that the bee was some of the best he has had in the past year. The service was excellent as well. We never has to ask for a refill on our drinks, and I believe that a manager checked in with us as well to be sure that we were happy with the food and service. The decor is also worth mentioning as they've set the perfect, casual beach vibe with comfy sofas and surfboards. read more

We were very happy with our decision to walk into Tower 12 while visiting the west coast. It has a great atmosphere and the staff was quick to take our order even though it was very busy. Will, I think he is a manager, personally greeted us and made sure we had accommodating seating for our group (I had doubts they had room for a group our size). I highly recommend the spicy margarita and the bbq brisket sandwich. This would be a great place to get drinks after work or before/after hitting the beach.
