California Burger

It feels great to be back at Tower Burger after 12 years! My bestie and I ate here for dinner on a foggy Sunday evening. It wasn't too busy at 5:30pm, but it got busier as it approached 6pm. We used to eat here for lunch on special occasions or for dinner before a show at our high school. The ambiance significantly changed for the better as it became modern with updated tables and gray chairs. Ordering was easy at their counter, and the staff on duty kindly writes it down including specific requests. I ordered a California Burger without cheese and tomatoes, while my friend ordered a hamburger. There's an option to add fries for approximately $4.99 to your burger orders. After placing and paying for our orders, we were able to sit at any table. Our orders were ready within 10 minutes. The burgers were perfectly charbroiled and were delicious and not heavy. It suited well with the avocado slices, lettuce, red onions and the toasted buns. The fries were crispy and not greasy. It matched well with a side of honey mustard sauce (as per my request). The quality has sustained well since my high school era. Tower Burger is the legit OG place for burgers in the Twin Peaks-Miraloma area!

Tower burger was juicy and flavorful, fries were crispy and well seasoned; staff was friendly and accommodating

Seems like there is a fast food desert in San Francisco which is a good thing. After Wendy's left the city it seems lots of good alternatives to burgers have spawned everywhere from where's the beef ? to regular beef and vegetarian to vegan. Tower Burgers location is a desolate burger spot since you would not find another burger place within more than over a half mile any direction. At Tower Burgers it offers different styles of burgers like the Burger with Brie and mushroom ( Paris). The menu also offers fish and chips with great cuts of cod fish and also prawns and chips. They also offer garlic and regular fries. I decided to get namesake burger "The Tower Burger" with bacon, caramelized onion, mushroom, cheddar cheese, and their secret sauce ( I have a hunch about what's in it). On a hot day I will get the Mitchell's Vanilla Milkshake.Good laidback community place to enjoy a meal. Very consistent. Tower Burgers is the place with a bit of everything interwine Get a burger with a beer and wine according to the menu sign

Just had the California burger with fries and it was amazing! Here's a couple photos that I took of the meal. Great service and good food. I highly recommend this place.

The Paris burger, sauteed mushrooms with melted Brie cheese.

I just wanted to give an update and say this place remains awesome. And if you haven't had their milkshakes, they're the best. They use Mitchell's ice cream, locally sourced and San Francisco all the way. Let's keep supporting these good folks.

Paris burger

Wait time was short and the food was great! I got the Paris burger (blue cheese and mushrooms, friend got the mushroom and Swiss and 3rd guest got the chili and a shakes - which used Mitchell's ice cream. Big burger. Oh the garlic fries? Let's just say, I'll be back!

Chicken Caesar salad

Still loving their healthy sized Chicken Ceasar Salad, my absolute favorite!! If you're ordering for p/u, make sure to tell them to put the crouton on the top or side because when they put it under all that massive chicken the croutons end up a bit soggy by the time you bring it home. Real friendly staff too.

Super popular and surprisingly packed on a weekday evening on the normally quiet West Portal strip…read more Reservations online (and even with a reservation, you'll have to wait). Loud, lively ambiance, warm from the open kitchen and gas lanterns lining the wall. Beautiful interior, with several tall trees in the center under the high peaked ceiling. Complimentary thin house tortilla chips and tasty slightly spicy roasted salsa. Delicious. Housemade tamale side was delicious, and I'd definitely get again. Esquites (street corn) was fresh off the cob which was nice, however it was in a soup of too much mayo--pass. Ceviche and octopus appetizers were delicious, and go well with the complimentary tortilla chips (I prefer thin over the thicker accompanying chips). Short rib was tender in a tasty mojo sauce and comes with warm tortillas so you can make your own little tacos. I still preferred the tamale though. Agua fresca good and horchata fresh, however definitely smaller than what you may be used to. Overall good visit. Will be back when we're in the mood for this type of Mexican food. Though having grown up in SoCal, college in SD, worked a bit in East LA...I generally prefer hole in the wall comfort Mexican food.

This is an excellent place for a group for drinks and catching up. The new things that I tried: crab enchiladas, beef augachile, and the tres leches. We also order drinks. All the zero proofs were super refreshing and tasty. Guacamole and esquites for the table along with the table chips and salsa. We also ordered the skirt steak carne asada and ceviche. The only thing about this spot I'd take note on, is the noise level. You walk in and you're instantly hit with chatting and music. So I wouldn't recommend for a quiet romantic dinner. Can't wait to go back!

We started off with the beet salad and warm focaccia with olive oil, garlic, and balsamic vinegar. The combination of hot bread with sweet, cool beets was a perfect contrast. The beets were perfectly cooked and came with crunchy, candied pecans over a light bed of whipped ricotta. I could not get enough, especially of the candied pecans. The focaccia was perfectly cooked and super light and fluffy. You can tell that the olive oil and balsamic vinegar are of the highest quality and the dip paired so well with the bread. For our mains, my husband got the rigatoni while I got the gnocchi carbonara (at the waiter's suggestion). Both of us were extremely happy with our choices. I'm used to getting gnocchi dishes that are super dense and doughy but in this dish, it was melting in your mouth. The infusion of the duck flavors really came through in the sauce and you had crispy meat sprinkled on top as well to give a contrasting texture to the rest of the dish. The rigatoni came with a couple of meatballs and sausages that you can tell are freshly made in house as they were tender and flavorful. The marinara sauce had a hint of sweetness with the tartness of the tomato sauce to balance it out. The pasta might have been a hair undercooked but it didn't make the dish any less delicious. For dessert, we ended with a chocolate tiramisu - a bed of moist, chocolate cake with a layer of coffee cream and cream on top, it was a delicious twist on the classic dish. We both agreed that we can't wait for our next visit back to Ofena!

(There's a outdoor pirate themed play area across the street which my kids enjoyed before dinner). The inside is modern but sparse, with three cozy dining dining rooms with a lovely full bar in the center room. Service was wonderful and the manager warmly greeted us with champagne for having happened to be there on their 2 year anniversary. It's not often these days that I find everything on the menu intriguing but we definitely had trouble deciding on what to pick from. What I ended up loving the most were the "sides" which were main dishes in and of themselves in terms of how much flavor was packed into them! For example, the Gigante Beans were so delicious that we tried to replicate them at home the following week. I loved how colorful and tasty the Squash Cabonata side was. Also loved the Pea and Asparagus salad which was beautifully plated, well-textured dish-- I liked that they were small bite sized cuts of crispy asparagus, and sprinkled with some pea shoots. The Gnocchi Carbonara, Saffron Risotto dish, and the polenta side were all very tasty, but I think it was an error to order all three since they were all a bit creamy/heavy. Overall a wonderful spot for dinner!

Calibur is the place to get an organic grass fed burger. I got the double cheese burger with Calibur sauce. It was tasty and it had great flavor along with a soft bun. The fresh grass fed cheese burger pairs well to eat with cheese fries in SF. The fries were crispy and saucy and got a bit messy. Sure, sometimes it's nice to visit a lesser-known restaurant in hopes of finding a hidden gem, but the reality is -- any eatery worth Yelping about is being Yelped about. Every part of dinner further solidified Memento's status as a one-and-done deal. The mocktail we ordered was so syrupy thick, it needed watering down before we could drink it. Paella with sausage had a thin layer of crisp rice. Oddly enough, the tomatoey elements coupled with the type of sausage used reminded me of pizza. My bf reported that the steak in his surf & turf was undercooked & had a "funny" flavor. 'Nough said. As much as we'd like to support a neighborhood restaurant, it cannot be at the expense of good flavors & basic cooking techniques.
