    California Burger

It feels great to be back at Tower Burger after 12 years! My bestie and I ate here for dinner on a foggy Sunday evening. It wasn't too busy at 5:30pm, but it got busier as it approached 6pm. We used to eat here for lunch on special occasions or for dinner before a show at our high school. The ambiance significantly changed for the better as it became modern with updated tables and gray chairs. Ordering was easy at their counter, and the staff on duty kindly writes it down including specific requests. I ordered a California Burger without cheese and tomatoes, while my friend ordered a hamburger. There's an option to add fries for approximately $4.99 to your burger orders. After placing and paying for our orders, we were able to sit at any table. Our orders were ready within 10 minutes. The burgers were perfectly charbroiled and were delicious and not heavy. It suited well with the avocado slices, lettuce, red onions and the toasted buns. The fries were crispy and not greasy. It matched well with a side of honey mustard sauce (as per my request). The quality has sustained well since my high school era. Tower Burger is the legit OG place for burgers in the Twin Peaks-Miraloma area!

Seems like there is a fast food desert in San Francisco which is a good thing. After Wendy's left the city it seems lots of good alternatives to burgers have spawned everywhere from where's the beef ? to regular beef and vegetarian to vegan. Tower Burgers location is a desolate burger spot since you would not find another burger place within more than over a half mile any direction. At Tower Burgers it offers different styles of burgers like the Burger with Brie and mushroom ( Paris). The menu also offers fish and chips with great cuts of cod fish and also prawns and chips. They also offer garlic and regular fries. I decided to get namesake burger "The Tower Burger" with bacon, caramelized onion, mushroom, cheddar cheese, and their secret sauce ( I have a hunch about what's in it). On a hot day I will get the Mitchell's Vanilla Milkshake.Good laidback community place to enjoy a meal. Very consistent. Tower Burgers is the place with a bit of everything interwine Get a burger with a beer and wine according to the menu sign

Just had the California burger with fries and it was amazing! Here's a couple photos that I took of the meal. Great service and good food. I highly recommend this place.

I just wanted to give an update and say this place remains awesome. And if you haven't had their milkshakes, they're the best. They use Mitchell's ice cream, locally sourced and San Francisco all the way. Let's keep supporting these good folks.

    Paris burger

Wait time was short and the food was great! I got the Paris burger (blue cheese and mushrooms, friend got the mushroom and Swiss and 3rd guest got the chili and a shakes - which used Mitchell's ice cream. Big burger. Oh the garlic fries? Let's just say, I'll be back!

    Chicken Caesar salad

Still loving their healthy sized Chicken Ceasar Salad, my absolute favorite!! If you're ordering for p/u, make sure to tell them to put the crouton on the top or side because when they put it under all that massive chicken the croutons end up a bit soggy by the time you bring it home. Real friendly staff too.

This is a mom and pop shop in Portola SF. Not many options in the area to eat. Located in its own lil parking lot. Get this.... You have to pay for parking! In a parking lot! In a NOT busy area in SF. So that was wild. I know it's Frisch but the area we were in... didn't think to get charged to park in a small lil parking lot. Igs that's how they maintain the up keep in the area. The girl at front was nice. Gave us our time to look at the menu. We paid. I got a coke she immediately got my coke our fridge as put it in their freezer for me to get it nice and cold the way I like it. I ordered a create my own burger because I'm picky and simple with a side of chilli! My man ordered Town burger with fries. We asked for our burgers to be cooked well done. They came back just well.. a lil pink inside which I was not happy with.. but I still ate it. Didn't want to send it back. The chilli was really good. Tasted homemade. Fries were crispy & hot. They have water in the front self serve. I would try them out if I was in area again.

The fish was fried to golden perfection with a light, shatteringly crisp batter that wasn't greasy or heavy. Beneath that beautiful crunch was flaky, tender, and incredibly moist fish that practically melted with every bite. It was one of those dishes where you immediately understand why people keep coming back. The fries were crispy and a great side, but they were definitely playing second fiddle to the star of the show. As for the poke burrito...I'd skip it personally. We were feeling adventurous and gave it a shot, but it just didn't come together the way I had hoped. In hindsight, ordering the grilled fish burrito would have been the better move. The location is another big win. Just a short stroll from the beach and surrounded by shops, it's an ideal stop before or after exploring the area. Parking can take a little patience during busy hours, but don't let that deter you.

We even asked for a side of melted butter which made it so much better! The roll was buttery, crisp and warm, and we both enjoyed it! BAJA STYLE FISH TACOS (3) - $22 Crispy Battered Cod with Cabbage, Chipotle Aioli, Pico de Gallo and Avocado. You have the option of ordering 2 tacos for $18, but I figured for just $4 more you get another one to take home! These tacos are quite hefty and filling, so one was enough for the each of us! These tacos battered Cod was light and airy, like tempura, and I asked for extra aioli on the side. This was so good! I'm so glad I ordered this!

I have to say that it was probably one of the best sandwiches that I've ever had the opportunity to eat in all of California, and I'm unsure if I'll ever be able to encounter a sandwich that tops it. For the prices on this menu, I would expect service to be a lot better. We waited in line to be sat (no waiting list, just an old school line) and it took only 10 minutes or so to be sat but it was very bizarre, we were a party of 2 ready to be sat & she took the couple behind us and sat them first. No particular reasoning given. The host seemed to really not care about much. From there, service was odd. Our server didn't introduce herself and just asked us what we wanted. Again, not a necessity but you would think for somewhere you're paying $30+ per plate, service would be a bit better. An oyster holder was delivered to our table after we had already finished oysters. Glass was broken near our table and hastily swept up. Bussers were dropping silverware right next to our table. Again, just wasn't great ambiance or service. The food is good but there are other good restaurants in San Francisco. I would really only come here again with low service expectations.
