I ordered takeout through Tram Cream Coffee's online ordering system and intentionally chose No Tip. However, when I got to the payment screen, a 10% tip was automatically added, increasing my total from $15.74 to $17.31. The biggest issue is that I couldn't remove it. I went back to try to change it, but the system kept applying the 10% tip. If customers are required to leave a tip, then the business should clearly state that instead of making it appear optional. I don't mind tipping when I choose to, but forcing a tip on a takeout order without allowing customers to opt out is misleading and feels deceptive. I hope Tram Cream Coffee addresses this because it leaves a bad impression despite the quality of their coffee. read more

Been here a few times now and tried a few of their drinks. The cafe is located in the same plaza as the Vietnamese supermarket and other restaurants, so it's always busy (and rather chaotic) but there will be parking. You can either order through the kiosk or with the staff. I've had the egg coffee and the egg cacao. The drinks are really thick with ice and there's a sign teaching you how to enjoy it best by letting the ice melt a bit and then shaking it vigorously to make it super creamy. The service is quite fast -- you don't have to wait too long to get your drinks. The cafe has a nice calm atmosphere, and often times there are people studying or working, as there's plenty of outlets. The furniture is quite comfortable and the decor is aesthetically pleasing. There's also food that looks delicious, but I haven't tried it. I'd recommend coming here as a place to chill or work. read more

This is a pretty solid Vietnamese coffee spot which is still fairly new, located between Blue Pagoda and Pho Dao. The interior is bright, clean and aesthetically pleasing - it's a nice atmosphere to sit and enjoy your coffee and snacks if you have the time. Staff are always friendly and there is a self-ordering kiosk which is always a plus. So far I have tried their coconut coffee, VIP, salted cream coffee and banafe (banana coffee) and enjoyed all of them! All their coffees are strong and have the classic Vietnamese coffee taste. The one thing that drives me crazy though is the amount of ice that they add (excluding the coconut coffee which is a blended iced coffee drink).. it's really not necessary to put that much ice to where you can't even mix it until it's been sitting for a while. There should be an option for less ice but you're only given the option of regular ice, no ice, or ice on the side which isn't practical when most of their drinks have sealed tops. Using a little less ice would still have the same effect and dilute the drink as it's meant to. Just my two cents. But anyway regardless of the ice situation, this has slowly became my go-to coffee spot. As for their snacks, I have tried their calamari and popcorn chicken. Both were very good as well! The popcorn chicken doesn't taste like the typical Taiwanese popcorn chicken, but that's a given since this is a Vietnamese spot - still worth the try though. read more

After being disappointed in the bobas at the Tram in sunnyvale, I decided to give this location a try. I ordered the house milk tea with half sweet. It came with boba and grass jelly. I also ordered a thai milk tea half sweet, that came with boba, and I added grass jelly. It was so refreshing and the boba was lightly sweet and not bland like the sunnyvale location. Super happy to find out that Tram Cream Coffee opened a location that's a lot closer to the Milpitas area! Parking is a lot easier here than at their first location in Viet town. Their area is not as big, but still has plenty of tables and outlets if you want to study or chill here with friends/family. They have a self-ordering kiosk as well as people taking orders so the line usually goes by super fast but you do have to wait a bit for your drinks to come out. I do wish that their menus were a bit more descriptive, such as listing what's in the VIP drink, but the workers are very open to answering any questions! As for what I ordered, my go-to is always the Egg Coffee with Oat Milk (50¢ charge). Tram is known for adding a hefty amount of ice, but that's just because their Vietnamese Coffee is pretty concentrated and strong. To best enjoy the drink, it's good to wait a bit to let the ice melt! Tram's Egg Coffee is definitely a drink that you sip over time, but chug it if you need that quick caffeine energizer! As for the drink itself, I love how they already include coffee jelly as a topping to add that bit of sweetness to the drink. Their coffee is a lot more on the strong, bitter tasting end and it isn't as creamy as Lacaphe's egg coffee so it's a great option for people with no sweet tooth. I usually get the egg coffee- comes with coffee, milk, egg cream and coffee jelly. Just a fair warning, the coffee amount is like 2 shots of espresso and they put half egg and some milk. You want the ice to melt. Otherwise, you can drink it all in 2 sips. Most other coffee shop dilute it more with a lot more milk and/or condense milk, and or water (Americano). I get it though, it's a very little amount for $7-8 ish. But it's damn good though! I also tried the coconut avocado. It was probably a 700 calories drink but it was tasty after a bowl of pho. Hubs and I are always on the search for tasty Viet coffee and snacks! Tram opened its new location in San Jose, and we were very excited to try. The first time we went, I got the coconut coffee and I wasn't super impressed, but my husband really enjoyed his coffee. So after a while, we decided to go back. The second time I got the White bear and WOW! It is SO yummy. I think it's really unique and brilliant to have a hojicha and Viet coffee combo - it's just the right amount of Viet coffee strong-ness with enough of that creamy sweet but not too sweet. It's such a treat to have and I really enjoy the different layers of flavors that the hojicha provides. Also, the consistency and texture of the drink is so smooth. Highly recommend. My husband however got some other item and he said the coffee jelly was SUPER bitter, and so he didn't really like it but still finished his drink. We recently went back because I was craving the white bear again, so I ordered that and my husband got the coconut one again. He liked it much better than his previous drink and I loved my hojicha again although I think it was yummier the first time, so there's something to be said about the consistency. We also decided to order the soft fried tofu and MAN. That was delicious. I would get that snack again and again! It's hot, crispy, fresh, and actually REALLY filling. Just kind of expensive, but the portion size is fairly decent. All the workers are always really nice when we go, and recently it was decorated very nicely inside with holiday decor and pretty trees and some fake plants from Ikea. It was aesthetically pleasing and the coconut/ube flavor was tasty for a sip or two but it seems as though the coffee was 1/4 of the way filled and the remainder was just sugary cream. If you don't care about your teeth, definitely try this place. I also had their banana cream coffee and that was actually disgusting. It had a very bitter aftertaste to it that didn't come from the coffee. There was nothing to this except a "pretty" drink. I also noticed that the drink didn't have any ice and wasn't filled all the way. You could see in the picture that it's mostly bubbles towards the top and this was before I took a sip. Love that they made another Tram Coffee closer to me and they even serve food too! The inside is very modern with classic wood furniture and fake plant fixtures at every table. There is a kiosk when you walk in menus in line while you wait. You can either order with the cashier or kiosk. When it gets busy though, I do anticipate the line process will take a while since it's only a single file line. Got the VIP drink and it was SUPER strong to say the least. I had to wait for the ice to melt so it can be a little dilute from the strong coffee that they make. It also has coffee jelly, condensed milk, and egg cream to top it off to add more flavor! Been wanting to try Tram for a while since one opened up so close to me. My first time order at a new viet coffee café is always egg coffee. I got a small, no coffee jelly, and less sweet. They only had option for no ice which is odd and usually I prefer less ice. Coffee itself was pretty decent and strong but not sweet at all, so next time I will probably do regular sugar. Usually I have problems with coffee tasting too acidic but this one actually was really smooth! The egg cream was unfortunate, extremely thick and clumpy like another review said. They also only offer sealed cups with straws which makes drinking the egg foam impossible especially since the consistency is not capable of mixing with the drink. Had I known this earlier I'd ask for it upside down. The interior itself is actually quite beautiful, with so many tables. Looks great for studying or WFH, which I haven't found a lot of in the bay area. read more

Thursday, today, I finally got to try them out. A decent sized place with inside seating of benches and table with chairs available. No option to sit outside. House music playing throughout the shop. Though, the volume was a bit too loud so it's hard to carry on a conversation. 1 kiosk and cashier ordering system. Egg Coffee: phin-filtered coffee, milk, egg cream, & coffee jelly (4/5). This was a strong and bold coffee flavor, which I loved. The egg cream was creamy and decadent. The coffee jellies were a nice touch. We ordered the coconut coffee and creamy Hanoi. Coconut coffee had the sugar options of 50%, 75%, and then 125%. It weirdly skipped 100%, but there was also another option for more sweetness or less (not sure what the difference was in sugar level but more/less sweetness?). I like my coconut coffee on the sweeter side, so I got it with 75% and more sweet. The coffee itself was super strong, but when mixed and after it melted a lil, it was the perfect amount of sugar. The creamy Hanoi was way TOO strong. It literally tasted like they seeped it, added too much ice, and that's it. Can't even taste the condense milk, cream, or any milk. I get that you're supposed to let the ice melt, but even after waiting 20 minutes to drink it, it tasted pretty much the same. I would recommend the coconut coffee only. read more

I have been to all of their south bay locations and I am glad to see they opened another one! I went during their soft opening. Easy to order from the kiosk. You get a number and wait for it to be called. They were training/learning. Space was bright and clean. Good amount of seating! I got the White Clarity. There was a lot of ice (typical of viet places). The drink itself was good! The matcha was smooth and the drink was creamy and you can really taste the matcha. They give you condensed milk on the side so you have to mix it in yourself. If not, it wouldn't be sweet. Quality / taste is there. Would like it more if it was a little bit sweeter and if they could mix the condensed milk in the drink first. Would get it again as I really enjoy their matcha (I usually get their coffees) I got my bf the tiramisu cream latte and it was strong like their other locations. Would recommend waiting for the ice to melt a bit or just drink it slowly. They offer some snacks, but I haven't tried it yet. I don't have a proper baseline for Vietnamese coffee, but both my SO and I enjoyed our drinks! I got the Egg Coffee while SO got the Saigon, less sweet for both. We did take the advice of some of the Yelpers who suggested to let the drink sit for a bit (~10 minutes) before drinking, so I was not as bothered by the ice situation (though I can understand why others are). The drink was strong, perfectly sweet (just enough to counter most of the bitterness of coffee without masking it), and creamy. I spent 27.50 for 3 large drinks. 2 peach & orange and 1 jasmine logan . Except to find out they are now using a flimsy cups that the lids don't fit tightly and one of them spill all over my car.
