Tri-cities installed a heat pump for me two years ago. I called them this year with a question about the condensation pump and requested an annual service inspection as we were seeing moisture on our filter. I was told I needed to replace the pump at a cost of $1300. A quick check with local distributors showed the pump costs $90 and it did not need replacing at all. When I called Tri-Cities to question the reason for the expense I was told they followed a pricing book and that was the cost. I cancelled the inspection/service call, removed the pump, proved to myself that it was working correctly in the kitchen sink and reinstalled it. That took less than an hour. I looked more closely at the air handler and discovered that it uses a 25 inch filter. Tri-Cities installed a 24" filter and told us that was the filter size the unit needed so they would not have to cut a notch in the frame of the closet. The 24" filter allowed air to bypass the filter with such force that it pulled water out of the pan at the bottom, hence the wet filter. I cut a notch in the frame, put in a 25" filter and have operated the unit for two months without any problems. Had another firm inspect the unit... $90.00 and found no issues. I thought the price was fair. Im guessing I paid a little premium because of time of year and the equipment shortages. This company was everything you want...clean, responsive, friendly, and prompt. I'm the kind of consumer who does thorough research and homework prior to making a big purchase decision. As such, I got myself well informed about the symptoms and issues of my old unit, discovered that I needed an entire new system (it was too old, had too many issues, to costly to repair, not worth doing so), then got online and researched all my options (brands, sizes, prices, AC/Heating companies). I chose Tri Cities Best because they were direct, honest, had the best pricing, the right unit, and very accommodating - - - it was for my rental property and I didn't want my tenants have to deal with the cold w/o a working heater any longer than absolutely needed to. When I called, they knew what the problem was based on me describing the symptoms, came out and inspected (also with camera), confirmed and showed me the issues, offered me the BEST PRICE to replace the system... & IT WAS DONE THE NEXT DAY!!! I have a very busy optometry office and our A/C broke. For a few days we dealt with the heat until we found a company to give us an honest quote. We called tri cities and I spoke to Dan around 6pm on Thursday . Around 7pm we meet at my office, he climbed up to the roof and took his time evaluating the issue. He determined the entire unit had to be replaced . Our existing unit was over 10 years old. I explained the urgency as we can not work in the heat with patients. He made and few phone calls and told me he can install Saturday morning! He gave me a great price and I was so amazed the new unit will be installed within 24 hours. His men came to my office and they were very professional and explained everything to me. They took the time to explain the type of unit and warranty it had. They also had to verify the connection issue with my thermostat and they repaired it at no additional charge. I asked a few questions about our ducts and they took a look and answered all my questions without hesitation. It's been over two years now since Tri Cities installed my heating and air system. At that time, as you can read, I gave them a glowing review. But, apparently, once they're done, you may be in the history books. On June 8, 2018, I called Tri Cities to report that my a/c was not working. On June 12, 2018, Daniel finally returned my call and left a message that they would be out on Friday, June 15, 2018 to service my a/c. Aside from the fact that it took three days to return my call, but to only say that they will come out three days after the call is simply unacceptable and poor service. They got my money and the great review they requested. But, I never thought their service would be so poor and lacking in at least a courtesy call. For whatever it's worth, I also called them at the beginning of the year to service the electronic filter, which they said they would do. THAT phone call was never returned, and the filter went unserviced. I called another company instead, who promptly returned my call and scheduled an immediate service call to fix the problem. They're super helpful and had great customer service at first, but once the instal is complete, the check is cleared and they've received the raving review they ask for (which I did delete) good luck getting any help if you have any problems with their work. I had a new A/C and furnace installed in July during a heat wave. Because of the heat they recommended we not run the heater to fully check their work, but if once we did and if there were any problems not to worry because they would come out. Well winter came and of course the heater started having issues. The owner kept answering the phone but saying they were closed. The son Daniel who In July had been my point of contact also wasn't able to bother himself to respond to my many calls or text message. Fast forward one year later and now my unit isn't cooling. Of course it happens Friday evening so there's no way to get a hold of them and honestly after getting the run around this winter (which never was resolved) I decided to call someone else. $300 later due to a leak from their instal and no Freon it is now working again, let's see what this winter holds because my heater issue was never resolved. read more

Had issue with my air conditioner condenser not blowing cool air into my home. Called tri cities heating and air Ryan Horan came out to see what was going on with my unit. Came out on Saturday told me my compressor was shot couldn't repair. Tried to sell me a whole new unit. I decided to get a second opinion. To my surprise my unit was repairable all that was needed was to change round capacitor and my unit was good to go. My compressor was not shot. So careful with tri cities heating and air don't want to fix issue at hand they just want to sell you a new unit. read more

If I could I would rate this company as a O; it does not even deserve a 1 rating! We purchased a Rheem heater in 2012 from Tri Cities. They over-sold us the unit as it is much larger than we need for our 2400 sq. ft. home. Nonetheless, in 2015 we purchased a Rheem air conditioner from them because our unit was not functioning. Because we were over-sold on the size of the heater 3 yrs. earlier, we had to purchase a Rheem air conditioner to match the heater's capacity; thus, it, too, was far bigger and more expensive than what was needed! They took advantage of us from the very beginning! Moving on, we called them to service our heater, and then our air conditioner after the purchases. They came once to do that and when we called them again they said, "You have new units and you don't need to service them. We won't come out." THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A CLUE! 18 months went by and we needed to have our heater serviced this week due to an odd sound it was making. We called early in the morning and spoke to Daniel. We explained the situation and the fact we had tried to have the units serviced and were told we didn't need to. He said, "Well, you should have done it anyway!" He then told us we had to get the warranty info from the company which we did. We called 4 more times that day and left messages. After 6 pm we got a call back. He said he would call us back the next day, Friday, after 9 am! Did we get a call: NOPE! Read the comments my Avus M, Nancy H, etc. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY. read more

Stay away from Dan Horan and TRI CITIES Tri Cities sold and installed / replaced air conditioning unit in Camarillo. Unit worked for 4 days. After weather warmed up, unit would not cool house. Several calls to Tri Cities and no returned calls. Contacted Trane Factory and they gave name of another dealer in area. Called and made appointment to ck our unit. They found No Leaks but the unit was low on Freon. Expecting this cost to be covered by warranty - we were charged $285 for Freon and Service call. We were told because they didn't install or sell unit. They and Trane suggested we contact Dan at Tri Cities for refund. After many calls and messages left we finally heard from Dan Horan. We were told a refund was coming. After many follow up attempts to contact Dan and after his continued assurance the Ck was coming (2 months), we finally have given up. Call any one of the other dealers in the area.We do not recommend this company in any way. They have no intrest in Customer Service. read more

Moving into our new house, we knew from the inspection that the A/C didn't work, but didn't know what we would find. Abe replaced the failed units, but found that there was a leak in the line. We were going to have them run a whole new line through the walls, which is costly and invasive, when he found the leak and fixed it. I think that is an important point to emphasize. Instead of ignoring his suspicion and continuing with the expensive repair to make more money, he solved the problem and saved us a lot of money. They were thorough and I am confident that they found and fixed every issue there was with these systems.. I would recommend them and would use them again. read more

I was at a friends house early New Years eve... Getting ready for a big party with 100 plus people coming over, The house was getting very hot because the A/C unit was not kicking on...After a ton of phone calls to a bunch of other companies we came across Tri Cities.. Long story short Tri Cities came out very fast!!! Made a quick fix got the A/C working. I was thinking its going to cost alot because of the Holiday night and the fact it was the only company that would even come out... Not the case at all!!! We had new ducts put in by Tri-Cities Best last week and we're really happy.  Every room in the house now gets heat (we had none in the bathroom and the back bedroom) and our furnace works much better.   We had a friend put in a furnace last year and it never worked right. I can't remember the company that I called to 'fix' it -- I thought they improved it, but it still wasn't good on a cold night (nights get cold by the beach!).  We finally called Tri-Cities to come out -- they said the furnace wasn't sealed right so a lot of the air was just going into the closet space, and the grill space in back of the furnace wasn't big enough for the size of the furnace. They also said we had too few ducts (the other company mentioned that too). So they fixed the furnace and did the ducts... the next time I got out of the shower it was nice and warm, and our guests don't freezing anymore. We're just really happy with the work. Also, the three guys that worked all day put down tarps -- afterward you couldn't even tell they had been here, it was so clean. Their office called yesterday to make sure we were happy. I wish they could come and work on our house in San Jose! read more

When I called, the owner himself answered the phone, a rare happening in today's world. He answered all of my questions, asked good questions to understand my situation, and scheduled his foreman to come out to check my HVAC system. I was looking for a second opinion for a repair situation as well as a company to do the work. Daniel was right on time, very knowledgeable, just awesome to work with. He confirmed the initial repair need but also identified other problems that the first company had not. Daniel took the time to explain everything he was finding, which was very much appreciated, so I could understand what the situation was and what would be needed. It ended up that it was more cost effective to get a new furnace and air conditioning unit. Daniel asked the necessary questions to determine the best unit for my home. He then provided a system recommendation, taking the time to explain why that system would work best compared to other units. The install team was out the next day, again right on time. DJ & Chris did great work - they were finished in less than a day with no mess, no fuss. I was working from home & DJ was very considerate of the noise level during one of my calls, which was appreciated. All in all, a very positive, quality experience, with an ethical company, and on this alone I would highly recommend them. But, there's more that makes them even better - I learned during the course of conversations that the company is owned by a veteran and employs veterans. This makes them even better!! This company installed our A/C & Heater in our new home...we've used it for less than a year and the coolant is low due to a coolant leak that was installation air. They are refusing to take responsibility for thier shoddy work and are trying to blame us for not changing a filter timely. The filter would have nothing to do with a coolant leak. Now I have to hire a different HVAC tech for $105 an hour which could be an 8 hour job. Don't do business with them, you will not get what you pay for. read more

Made an appointment for the service guy to come by on a Monday, he did not show up nor did I receive a phone or email from anyone for Tri Cities Best, saying he would not be showing up, just left us hanging in the 115 deg. temps. we had last week. Not only not showing up but I took off work to meet him losing time and money from work. Very unprofessional !!! Tri Cities Best Heating & Air states, and I quote "serving you for over 35 years" unquote, they have a new lic. 969272 which is given on 12-09-2011 (6 yrs.) and the company was started on 1-18-2012 that is only 6 years. So under the CA. Contractors lic. and business name it is not a true statement and misleading. I am very concerned as to their claims as a company and advertising for 35 years as it is not true. About 7 or 8 years ago they installed our new Heating and Air units. They did a great job and we were very satisfied. But my experience with them the other day has changed our minds about this company. One of their techs came out for the yearly check up to keep our warrantee in good standing. I was told that there was only 114 volts at the outlet and their was a burnt wire and that if we didn't replace the braker panel the house could burn down. He made a call and told me there was only one panel available in the whole area and I had to agree to have the job done the next day or if someone else gets the panel we could wait weeks. Hold him it would have to be Wednesday which was in two days. He was not going to close up the heater because the house might burn down. I told him put it back together which he did but was not happy about it. He wanted a $400 deposit so I wouldn't lose out on the panel. Which I did pay him. After he left, I thought about all he said and acted, and talked with several people that said get a second opinion. I called the company and cancelled the Wednesday appointment, and also cancelled the check. I did get a second opinion today and there is nothing wrong with the electric panel, wiring or the heater. It was a bunch of BS and scare tactics to get me to fork out $4874 for work that didn't need to be done. All I can say is don't trust this company and always get a second opinion. read more

We had them install our AC; they came right out and did a great job, also finding a problem we did not know we had (didn't involve the HVAC system). Later, we had some air quality problems and when they did the filter change and system check, they told me about a pre-filter and a UV light which could help with allergens (we have pets); it was inexpensive, quick to install and works great. This month JC came out and did the annual maintenance and changed my filters for me. He was right on time, polite and efficient. Would recommend them highly! read more

This company has a bunch of different names and numbers for a very good reason. Yellow pages in Santa Barbara has them as AAA heating and Air. Everybody knows when you have an appointment with someone in the building trades you only have a 50% chance that they will show on time or even show up. The good ones will at least call you and let you know that they will be late or that they can't make it. The bad ones don't. This company is one of the very bad ones. I called Tri-Cities Best after another local HVAC company let me down. A relative had a furnace installed by TCB and really thought they were great. I called at 7 pm and Peter, the owner, answered. I described him the problem with our old furnace and he understood what was wrong right away. He offered to send his foreman that night. 24/7 service with TCB means, 24/7. Daniel, his foreman, was out the next day at 9 am. He showed me, via a tiny camera, the giant crack in our heater that was causing to to belch flames (literally, like a dragon). It was not possible to fix our heater, but he did a thorough inspection and then turned the gas down so we could use the heater safely through the December night. He recommend an excellent unit by York that was way more energy efficient than our old heater and came with a 15-year warranty and a rebate from the manufacturer of $1000. He didn't try to sell us more heater than our house needed. The next day at 9 am, two very professional, courteous guys showed up and spent 5 hours installing the new furnace and a thermostat that is easy to read and use, even at night. They put down tarps, they vacuumed, they wrestled a huge unit into the slot without any damage to the walls. Amazing. They checked everything before they left, gave me the instruction manuals and warranty cards, and cleaned up everything. It was like they had never been -- except for the wonderful install of a new furnace. Last night was the best night ever. The house actually stayed at the temperature we set it for, there was heat in every room, and we didn't have to worry about the thing blowing up. The old heater ran for hours trying to keep the place warm. This York heater runs for a few minutes and the job is done. I highly recommend Tri-Cities Best. If you have a problem, they're there for you day or night. They know their stuff. Any repair they do will be a quality one. Any install will be something they stand behind 100%. read more

Had a new system installed about a year ago, there were some issues after it was done, but now have surfaced that didn't really show up right away. They installed fibre ducting instead of metal, because we live in the Los Padres forest so there are rodents who like to use the fibre glass material for their nests. The unit they chose was a single zone type it should have been a dual zone so we could control the area that is not used much from sucking up all the cool air or heat. Anyway, I would definitely not recommend this company. They are very friendly and nice people but I don't think they know how to do high air central air conditioning systems. read more
