    Water spinach (special)
    Dimitri S.

I had the pleasure of going here a couple of times in the past week and was impressed by the menu and the service each time. We were immediately greeted and sat at a table in the back dining room, which can be mostly private or lively, especially as there are some larger tables back there. We had the xiao long bao, both pork and crab and they were nicely prepared and flavored, with the traditional vinegar served and we carefully navigated getting them off the paper in the dim sum steamer and onto the soup spoon. Warm, brothy and tasty! We had some shumai and pan seared pork dumplings that also were nicely prepared. As we were celebrating a special occasion we had a dish off the menu, scallion and ginger crab. It was expertly prepared and the delicate crab and the tasty sauce mixed well together. The standout dishes continued with the dry sautéed crispy shredded beef, the Tingling Curry Chicken hot casserole, and the red cooked short ribs in Hang Chow style being ultimate comfort food in the cold weather. The Shanghai fried rice was also top notch as an accompaniment or could be a main course. We had some pea shoots as well as some water spinach (off the menu). Both brought clean, bright flavors and some greens to the mix, though the beef ribs come with some greens as well. Service was attentive and the water glasses and tea cups were kept full throughout our meals. It is an excellent, traditional Shanghainese restaurant and the casserole recipes have been handed down from generation to generation, bringing deep, wonderful flavors, as they are slow cooked to perfection.

The beau and I popped in here on Valentines Day to deliberately avoid the silly fixed menus and set prices that pop up on this holiday. We were greeted in a friendly and excited manner and shown to our table. The menu is full of delicious looking dishes (love the pictures) so it was hard to choose. We had the pork spare ribs and steamed shumai to start. Both were great but I prefer a sauce on the ribs and these were served naked. Then we designed our own dish of chicken w veggies in a brown sauce and also had some noodle dish. Everything was delicious and very affordable!

I had a craving for dim som so I stopped in here for a late lunch. I was pleasantly surprised when they handed me a happy hour menu. Win win in my book! Peaceful, cozy, warm atmosphere and they serve some really good authentic dim sum. Dim sum is available every day at all meals. Steamed Shumai Shanghai style come 3 to an order - a nice mix of minced pork and sticky rice. Pork Dumplings with Chili Sesame Sauce- this was my favorite. Light steamed dumplings with a nice spicy sauce. Topped off with a Lychee Martini... a perfect vacation lunch!

Tri Dim was a great spot for an easy dinner! We shared the sesame chicken, chicken dumplings and Shanghai Noodles with vegetables and everything was really tasty. The restaurant was clean and spacious and the service was good but felt a bit disjointed at times. We would go back!

I tried my first Peking duck at this fine establishment on Saturday afternoon. It was outstanding! But what was even better, was the service provided. When my friend and I got pork soup dumping, the Dan Dan noodle and the Peking duck pancakes, our server played everything and it was truly an amazing experience. If I'm ever in the city and craving Sichuan again, I will most definitely return here. Thank you Tri Dim!

Tri Dim West is a decent Chinese restaurant in the Upper West Side, serving up a wide variety of Shanghainese, Cantonese, Szechuan dishes. Peking duck and crab meat and pork xiao long bao were the standout dishes. Although we were the only Chinese on the night we visited, we were pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of their food. The dining experience was accessible for non-Chinese as they kindly provided chopsticks, forks and food clips. Service was attentive--the server replaced our dropped chopsticks with a new pair, without us even having to ask. The environment is tranquil and spacious compared to other traditional Chinese spots I've been. Perfect for dates and groups (yes, we went there on a date night, and the other customers were mainly couples). *Shredded Crispy Duck (Half) 手撕鴨 $33 *** I am not really fond of peking duck, but their meat wasn't too fatty which was spot-on for me. We ordered half and it was the perfect portion for two. *Crab Meat and Pork Soup Dumpling 蟹粉小籠包 $13 *** While for the xlb, I could actually see and taste the crab meat. The thin wrapper barely held together the rich filling inside. As I took a bite, a burst of rich meat broth spilled out. *Rice Cake w. Pork and Pickled Cabbage 雪菜豬肉年糕 $16 ** Shanghai stir-fried rice cake was solid. It absorbed the slightly sweet and salty glaze and contrasted well with pickled cabbage. *Szechuan Dan Dan Noodle 四川擔擔麵 $15 The chili oil in the dan dan noodle was flavourful yet we wished it could be spicier. *Scallion Pancake 蔥油餅 $9 *Shanghai Bean Curd Puff 上海烤麩 $11 *Jelly Fish w. Scallion Sauce 蔥油海蜇 $12 The starters we got were delicious. I was amazed by the scallion pancakes as I've tried many underwhelming ones in NYC. Theirs was crunchy with a chewy interior.

We had a great meal here! The wait staff seemed to be very invested in ensuring that our experience was exceptional. We started with soup dumplings, which were tasty, but not really hot enough. Next were delicious Dan Dan noodles. Perfect spice. The crispy shrimp and scallops were delicious, we preferred the shrimp to the scallops. Finally, duck egg rolls, fabulous. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Steamed Roasted Pork Buns -- a bit soggy

Some delicious surprises: The beansprouts with chives was super fresh & succulent braised duck had a lovely light sweetish flavour that worked. The sweet & sour ribs are yummy bite sized chucks. Great crisp batter and wrapped in gorgeous tangy sticky sauce. Pity about bone to meat ration but hight recommended. Disappointments? Have had better Peashoots -- very bland despite the garlic. It was very wet / stewed & chewy. I would have. Nice but personally would have preferred garlic a bit crisper or some chillis / something to bring out the flavours and maybe younger pea shoots? Not tender. Not recommending? The curry Singapore Noodles were average. Not recommending. Large chunky chopped onions & spring onion. Salty egg chunks. Weirdly sweet curry flavour. Decent amount of shrimp. Minuscule bits of diced char sui pork, thickly julienned carrots and overly dry slivers of beef. It was easily worst item ordered (shame as one of my favourite comfort foods). Would have benefited from some beansprouts/ bamboo shoots & less onions -- or a bit of oil? It was super super dry.

Doing a fun trip to UWS President's weekend. Wanted to start with some dim sum for a takeout lunch before our museum adventures. Our favorite was the Peking Crispy Duck Roll. Red cooked short ribs a treat but a bit expensive for four relatively small ribs. Other dishes quite reasonable. Enjoyed the Hong Kong Shumai. I was so so on the Steamed Pork Bun. Good sauces, rice, and side of spinach. Phoned in order and all ready as promised. Interior of restaurant pleasant. We haven't had dim sum for a long time, and overall this was tasty with many different textures.

I visited the restaurant with my parents looking for a quick bite to eat and we were all craving Chinese food. I hadn't had good Dim Sum in a while and I was craving dumplings. I ordered shrimp dumplings, a pork bun, a Diet Coke, and a build-your-own bowl where you can choose the vegetables, protein, and sauce that you want. I chose shrimp, sprouts, baby corn, mushrooms, and snow peas with my sauce on the side that I took home later. The food was really good, and my cravings were satisfied. I loved the pork bun in particular because the flavor of the sauce combined with the juicy pork in the center of a delicious bun really made my afternoon. The only reason why I knocked one star off of my review is that they told us they couldn't seat us in the back where we could have more space because "they were doing some work on the back part of the restaurant" which we understood, but later saw them seating other customers. It didn't make any sense to us. Although the seating arrangements could have been more comfortable, the quality of the food and service really made up for it. Our food came quickly, our bill came quickly, and our orders were taken in good time. Given the success of our meal, I would say that I would gladly come to eat here again.

    Shumai

Generous portions was provided, even with the chili oil I asked for, and sides of sauces that came with. I was happily surprised by the food and my friend loved it so much that asked for name of the place after we left. Vegetarian options also available. Chrysanthemum tea for those who want herbal (naturally, no caffeine) options They also have delivery and pick up. Super close to the 77th Street train station. If driving, may be tougher to get parking but there's the $12+ per half hour parking garages nearby. If you want to visit someone at the Lenox Hill hospital, there's that around the corner from too. Highly recommend.

My friend and I went here for lunch after walking around New York. The place is neat and clean and the staff are friendly. Food: Shanghai Fried Rice, Steamed Shrimp Dumplings and Pan-seared dumplings. It is very filling, it's a little bit of pricey.

I did not expect to find a sit down Cantonese & Sichuan Restaurant in the heart of Herald Square…read more For sure a hidden gem worth trying. Came here with two other friends for dinner and we pigged out. We started off with Scallion Pancake with Shredded Duck ($15), which tasted amazing. The pancake was flaky and not overly soaked in oil, while the duck meat enhanced the taste. I think everything should order this for the table. We also got the Dan Dan Noodles w Minced Pork ($8), which is a staple dish in Sichuan cuisine. Make sure you stir the bowl to mix the sauce and minced pork. For veggies, we got the Sautéed Green Beans With Eggplant ($18), which tasted great. I usually get sautéed pea shoots for a veggie dish, but this was worth ordering as the eggplant tasted great along with the green beans. For entrees, we got the Spicy Green Pepper Fish Filet ($28 for filet). A classic Cantonese dish that comes with bok choy, so it turns out I didn't really need to order a veggie dish. Delicious. We also tried the OOHU Mao Xue Wang ($34), which may be one of the most spiciest dish available on the menu. This dish combines blood curd from a duck, tripe, and chicken gizzards along with other organs into a simmered broth containing chilis and peppercorns. They also use spam, vermicelli noodles, mushroom, and other things. If you're adventurous and you like spicy, I would recommend this. Best eaten with a cup of rice. Service is great as our server made good recommends and was overall friendly. They also have a party room you can book, which sounded pretty affordable. Don't recall what their minimum spend was, but it was super reasonable compared to a lot of other spots in Chinatown and Flushing.

We ordered multiple dishes which came out one after the other. Some of the standouts for me were the Pork Intestine Dry Pot ($20.95), Crispy Tofu with Salty Egg Yolk ($23.95), and Sauteed String Beans ($16.95). Many spicy food options since this is a Szechuan spot afterall. Some dishes were a bit too salty and spicy, which they did discount after we brought it to their attention. Overall, decent spot and good for large groups. Otherwise, I didn't find this spot to be too memorable (not bad, not great).

The first time we ordered.. Wonton soup - 5 stars - we both loved the soup. The wonton skins were not thick and the meat was lightly flavored. Soup was light.. peppery. Beef tendon - 5 stars - delicious...lil spicy. The tendons were cooked so tender but they were so difficult to pick up with the chopsticks. $34 ..lil pricey for the amount but it's the city.. We got one white and one purple rice. Second visit.. Pork dumplings with chili oil - 3 stars - dumplings were okay, chili oil was good. Used the oil on other dishes.. we preferred the wonton soup. Lobster with ginger and scallions - 4 stars - Cantonese lobster dish that I've had countless of times. Ok. Mapo tofu - 4 stars - I don't care for tofu but L loved this dish.. even asked for a fork so he could pick up the tofu faster. Kung fu shrimp - 4 stars - fried shrimp in shell with a lot of chili peppers. Brought half of it home and added my own colossal shrimp to it and it was delicious. My shrimp was better but the chili peppers made them even more flavorful. My favorite dish was still the beef tendon and I should've ordered it again on my second visit but we wanted to try different things. Place was always packed but we never had to wait long for a table. Service was great. Refilled our waters and changed our plates when they noticed lobster shells were piling up. I didn't care for the cocktails much. Only tried one. Wasn't very strong.. too pricy for weak cocktails but they have other spirits available..
