My wife ordered the Tricky Fish platter (blackened redfish, crawfish etouffee on rice, and fried okra) and I ordered the fried catfish platter, which came with fries, cole slaw, and two dipping sauces. Every item was freshly made, seasoned nicely, and cooked perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire dine-in experience. My dad, brother and I were in town mainly to watch the Dallas Cowboys (my dad is a diehard fan) and we decided to visit this resto for a seafood-themed lunch right before a planned tour of the Star training facility right across the street. It was my first time trying grits! Very creamy, almost reminding me of porridge and quite rich with the added parmesan cheese! I liked it! There was ample seafood running through all the dishes which was good to see. No ripping off the customer. I really enjoyed the flavour of the linguine as I could actually taste the sherry in the sauce. The portion sizes were very decent. Salmon could've used a lil more cook time. It was JUST REACHING medium rare (prolly edging more towards rare actually). My family tends to prefer medium doneness on cooked salmon fillet. It was fine. The lemon butter sauce very tasty. I have been visiting all the Tricky Fish Locations to compare. Decided to go and visit Frisco today. Richardson is my go to. I recently tried Fort Worth and had a blast. Frisco: Connor my waiter was AMAZING! Great Customer Service! Lunch Special Bourbon Sherry Linguine yummy and the perfect size for lunch. It's well seasoned and flavorful. Pasta is cooked perfectly and the shrimp were blackened this time. I usually get grilled, but mixed it up today. This location has Pepsi products this made me happy. This location is also cool and laid back. It was clean and comfortable. They gave us a free side of hush puppies. The hush puppies and butter were scrumptious. Guess location does make a difference. First time at the star, we chose to have a meal at tricky fish. It was a week night so there wasn't much of a wait but the restaurant was pretty full. It's got a nice vibe going with some splashes of neon and color to separate it from the standard sports bar look. I appreciate the effort. Service was generally decent. Not memorable, but not bad either. The menu didn't feel overpriced and there is a good mix of choices between pastas and fish dishes. The kids split a generous portion of alfredo pasta served with shrimp (that's a new one) and chicken. It was tasty but the shrimp didn't really fly for my kid in terms of going with the pasta. They did love the fries we got on the side. Nicely seasoned. I liked the mac and cheese but the younger kid complained about the seasoning. I'll have to wean her off the kraft stuff ..... *barf*. The better half and I both had fish food, one with pasta and one with rice. It was pretty nicely done. I thought my portion looked small at first glance but I was more than full once i worked my way through the meal. We couldn't resist ordering the french toast sundae. That was a mix of over and underwhelming. Seriously awesome french toast with a scoop of checking all the boxes, standard vanilla ice cream. It needs a sauce or something to tie them together. Smoked Old Fashioned- Beautiful presentation accompanied with a smoke show! It was so tasty that the hubs had 2 of them! Raspberry Smash- vodka infused in house, with fresh peaches, and raspberries garnished with a raspberry skewer. The flavors worked so well together and it had the perfect amount of sweetness to it. It was definitely yummy. Gumbo- Rich, dense, and flavorful! You can tell that they took their time creating this! I love that it also came out piping hot just like I like it! Fried Green Tomatoes- These guys were perfection! Perfectly fried and topped with a creamy remoulade and grilled shrimp. I could have honestly ate another order of these! Okra- So happy we ordered this!! The okra was nothing like I expected, but everything I needed! Cut in half and roasted to perfection. The blend they seasoned it with took it to another level! Definitely a winner! Crab Cakes - I know I said my crab cake search didn't end here, but this crab cake was still yummy. It was a cold in the middle, which I was very surprised by, but i took it to go. When I heated it up at home it was much better. It was made with lump crab meat and served with a slaw that had sliced red peppers in it. The slaw had somewhat of an island feel to me. Finding a good seafood restaurant can be a little "TRICKY". Not so here. This is a great choice for a well managed, reasonably priced place to have a great meal. On this beautiful Tuesday night, the restaurant was not busy and the service was great. The menu is almost 100 percent seafood and is probably not going to be a place to bring little kids. We were having a birthday celebration meal for me and at the end, the waitress brought me a birthday gift card to use on our next visit, signed by the entire staff. A really nice touch. This was my first experience at this Tricky Fish. It is in the Star complex (Dallas Cowboys). Our server, Monica, was good, but it took a long time for her to return after leaving us the check. The sandwich was outstanding! Bread lightly toasted and the fish cooked to perfection! I'm not a big fish fan, but this was really good. The filet was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. It came with cole slaw, which I had served on the side. It was not too strong or tart, but had a light dressing. The fries were also perfect. Warm and fluffy on the inside, but crispy on the outside. The okra was good. It's not your regular Southern okra, which is heavily breaded, but had a barely noticeable crust and was nicely seasoned. They were not slimy, but more like a dried French fry. They may not be for everyone, but we liked them. I had ranch on the side with my fries. It was inhouse ranch and was really good. I've tried Tricky Fish twice and I absolutely love it! My first time there was with my girlfriends. I got their must try fried green tomatoes-OMG!! They are best I've ever had. I've also tried their shrimp & grits. I didn't prefer the tomatoes on top , but overall it's was bomb! The purple drink was the Mardi Gras mamba back in March, it was delicious.
