Take advantage of Blue/Silver parking garages or valet nearby. Short walk from either garage. We made reservations via Open Table just to be sure to get in. Try one of their specialty drinks worth the extra price. They feature several meals which you only have to choose the protein to go with it. Be very hungry or better take some home as leftovers. Such a fun place! First, the bar has a good selection of beer, wine and specialty drinks. Tried a local Amber at the bartender's recommendation that was marvelous. Next the food...yum! I had the redfish with warm spinach and fried onions. My friend had shrimp and grits. Then we shared a great dessert. Everything was perfectly prepared. Finally service...our waitress and the bartender checked on us just enough. They were friendly and efficient. I will be back soon to try some of the other entrees. read more

If y'all are looking for AMAZING quality seafood and cocktails- THIS PLACE. Holy wow! We went to celebrate my girlfriend's moms birthday last night, she had been wanting to try it for a while. It was a Monday night, so we were one of the few tables. The atmosphere was really chill, kinda a more upscale casual. We were greeted immediately by Anna, and she got us our waters asap. She was informative of our question about their smoked old fashioned, that was awesome. They have the coolest method of making and serving it and it was delicious! The food was also incredible, everything melted in your mouth, no joke, I've never had better catfish, shrimp, and don't even get me started on the fried okra. Unfortunately I was allergic to everything else but my girlfriend and her parents are already ready to go back, as well as me! So yeah, don't walk... RUN to Tricky Fish at the Star! Tricky Fish had been on my list to try since I've heard about them and I'm glad we finally stopped by!! We came in during lunch time on a Sunday, and they were not too busy yet. We ordered the fried calamari to start. The calamari came with fried banana peppers and okra. The seasoning on the okra is pure chef's kiss. The whole appetizer was so sooo good!! I can't stop thinking about it! Highly recommend getting this appetizer! Soooo much flavor and the calamari was cooked very well! Not chewy at all! Just the right texture! Next came our entrees. We ordered a fish and chips for the kids, which comes with one huge fried fish. The batter and fish were cooked very well. I'm usually hesitant about fish and chips since it's usually a pretty bland dish imo, but at Tricky fish, their batter has flavor! Lol... my kids devoured it along with the fries! My husband had ordered their crawfish ettouffee which he really enjoyed. I ordered their special that day which was a grouper with chimichurri sauce, roasted potatoes and some seasoned carrots. The food was good. The etouffee was a little spicy, delicious. My kids didn't like the chicken strips because the breading was the same as what you'd use for fish. The Mac n cheese was good though. Menu needs to be more detailed. I ordered salmon with lemon butter orzo but I got orzo with other unmentioned ingredients like tomatoes, sliced red onion, some purple cabbage and mushrooms (I hate mushrooms and they were never mentioned, not even when I asked the waitress to describe it).. The orzo was inedible for me so I asked for a different side and they brought me room temperature "loaded" mashed potatoes. I took two bites and left it, just wasn't feeling it. I basically paid $23 for a small piece of salmon. The salmon was good. For my drink I ordered a mule but it was pretty much all juice. I had to ask for a side of vodka because I could not taste any in the drink. We also ordered calamari as the appetizer but note it's calamari and banana peppers so half and half with hard to eat okra on top. The calamari was good just barely any there. Positive things, the waitress was nice and attentive, my husband liked his butterfly shrimp (his sides just ok) and my kids enjoyed the burgers and fries. I had no idea this place was here. I love a good seafood place. Tricky fish is definitely a place I'd recommend giving a shot. Love the fact that they have patio seating and prices are fairly reasonable. Seems to be a place that will grow as it has a lot of potential... especially in this location. The shrimp and crab bisque was AMAZING!!! Loved it. I also got the fish sandwich which was Abita beer battered cod with fries. Fries were very tasty and well seasoned. The cod was decent I wanted more flavor (salt and pepper would've worked) but it was not a bad fish sandwich and I'd definitely get it again and return! The only con I have was experiencing a very rude waiter/server... her name was Marleen. If she's not there, I'm sure you'll have a great experience. The manager was extremely nice and hopefully having a rude server won't ruin business here. I'd say fix that fast before she ruin reviews. Located at the star, so parking isn't an issue. Service varies, the most recent visit, my waitress was not pleasant and welcoming at all but other times I've had great service experiences. I've frequented the location in Richardson a bunch I usually go there about 10x a mth, this other location I've only ever been twice. The first time was when there were about 4 people in the resturant and my food took about 25 min and my drink took so long my husband was on his second round and I ordered my first round with hi, and then when it came it was aweful the bartender tried to fix it and made it worse I ordered another drink completely, of course still paying for the mini sip from the aweful drink. When the check comes and we told them we were tax exemption see managers and owners hovering over the computer trying to figure out what it is and if it's legit, so that took a long while. I received an email over the weekend about 20 percent off we were headed to a game in Frisco so we thought why not give them another try the 20percent off hopefully makes up for the aweful drink I wasted money on last time. Food came out fast, service great, there was a male manager super friendly he always comes up and talks to us and our son. But of course check time comes later and everyone's confused again about the tax exempt, they said they can't honor 2 discounts at once I told them tax exempt Is not a discount it's a right, tribally, I don't pay a single sales takes in the USA. My status is that of a tribal nation/diplomat. It's not a discount they said they could honor one or the other. I was highly dissapointed. I could have went anywhere in this city on Labor Day the only day my husband and I are both off work and we came there and they don't honor our right to exemption because they are categorizing it as a discount. When the manager came over she apologized and said nothing she could do. I to,d her to call the other location(s) heck even FT worth and they all never have a problem finding the button on the POS system, they just take my ID entree my govt. Tax Exempt ID # listed on there and that's it. She said okay I will give them a call next time, as they give me the bill anyway. It's literally a violation of my rights. The only reason why the complaint didn't get taken up w/ our tribal govt offices is because I absolutely love Tricky Fish in Richardson and if it wasn't for Cindy and the other 2 managers that are so accommodating and non discriminatory I would never frequent this place again. read more

Stopped by Tricky Fish while at the Ford Center for a sports event and it was one of the few restaurants during half time that was able to sit us without a wait. We had the cat fish platter and seafood tacos. The cat fish itself was very yummy, the only thing I wish was that it was fried for a little bit longer as it was a bit mushy. Still super yummy the way it was. The seafood tacos were also tasty and were topped with a nice cheese that really rounded out each bite. The Mai Tai was a bit disappointing, but I think that was just because the staff was being hit with rush hour and put the drink together. Overall, I still think this restaurant is worth coming by. You can tell that the management really values each customer. They go out of their ways to open the doors for you to the restaurant and stop by your table to say thank you for eating with them. read more
