New to yelp and reviewing restaurants but just had a wonderful experience this past week! I understand they just opened and working out some kinks but service and food presentation was on point. Place was very busy and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Place was packed so noise is definitely louder than most places but to be expected at a busy restaurant. Some reviews are the complete opposite from what my group of 10 friends experience was. Seems like the Trident's are killing it and look forward to supporting them in 2019. I grew up on the East Coast and have eaten more than my share of pizzas in South Philly, Brooklyn, New Jersey and Providence RI.I know great pizza. This is the location where Grimaldis was previously. Thankfully they kept the wood fired pizza oven. They have a pizza cook that really rocks. He knocks out the orders in no time at all. Pizza is excellent. We were in yesterday and had several excellent appetizers. They are taking chinavirus precautions, but are not going overboard. It is nice to be able to sit at the bar with a beer and have a great meal. This is a US Military veteran owned restaurant. I highly recommend it. read more

I decided to try this place out since we've drove past it several times and I recall it used to be a Grimaldi's before (great pizza) therefore was curious about this place. Walked in to no greeting or acknowledgement with a bartender standing at the bar and a waiter standing a few feet past the entrance. Sat down in the middle of the restaurant which happened to be somewhat busy. Maybe 3-4 tables empty inside and the patio entirely empty except one family of 3 that had walked in right before us. We sat for about 10 minutes before being acknowledged by a passing waiter who asked if we had been served. She came back a few minutes later to provide us with menus and took our drink order. We soon after ordered the 3 Tomato Bruschetta, order of 12 mild wings and a large Centurion pizza. The bruschetta and wings are really the reason why I'm giving any starts at all. The balsamic reduction along with the tomatoes nestled on top of the toasted baguette and mozzarella had a very good, fresh taste. The wings were also good, but I was disappointed with the pizza. The toppings were good but the dough itself was bland and doughy. Seemed a bit undercooked. What really upset me is the level of service or lack of it. Through our entire visit we'd hear the staff welcome people entering the restaurant and thanking those who were leaving. Our server who brought us our food was a different waiter than the one who had taken our order. Throughout our dinner not once did either ask or offer refills of our drinks. Not until we had finished eating, asked for a box for our leftover pizza and received our bill did the second waiter offer refills. We declined respectfully. Working in customer service and accommodation myself it's upsetting spending $50+ on dinner and not receiving the same level of service as your fellow patrons. Even after that I have the decency to tip. Just know I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

I was really excited when I found out this place was opening because given that the original Trident has the Beyond Burger and vegan cheese, and I figured this place would have good vegan options too. They do have a vegan pizza on the menu, but they've made the same mistake as so many other places by lazily combining their vegan and gluten free option. I'm sure the cauliflower crust would be great, but it only comes in a smaller size and is not enough to be shared. Also, it's more expensive than the other pizzas. I was with a friend and wanted to share, so we asked if we could get the vegan pizza on the larger, regular crust. We were told the regular crust was not vegan. We left because we didn't want to spend so much on individual pizzas. Vegan and gluten free are not the same thing. Most vegans probably want regular crust for their pizza, whereas most people who avoid gluten would probably prefer real cheese and meat. I hope that others comment on this and they decide to offer a vegan option that can be shared, because I would happily go. I've heard that the food is excellent! read more

I had hopes of a good pizza back in Grimaldi's spot. But No! Trident stripped the inside of anything that looked nice and made it look like a hole in the wall with sports tv being the only wall decor. The back bar is blank wall with ugly beer taps, no more woodwork. This looks like a cheap dive and it matches the quality of the pizza and the horrible acoustics. Don't think you can go for conversation unless you like to yell. The crust on the 8 1/2 " pizza ( supposed to be 10") was dense like old dough. The box they gave me was greasy all over the outside as if it had been used or sitting around the kitchen. Just really not enjoyable. I'm glad they had the service window because I couldn't stand the inside. Back to Blackjack until we get something better in the neighborhood. read more

So I have been coming here for a while and Emily and Alex are some of the most personable bartenders I've ever met! I've worked in restaurants and I know how hard it is to be doing this work with Covid being so prevalent. They do very well at making me and my friends feel safe, I miss having everything open, but this bar has been a lot of help. The reason I give it 5 stars isn't just because of how well the food is prepared its because the moment I walk in I feel normalcy and it's a great place to feel comfortable. I haven't had any issues yet and even the smallest inconvenience the staff is always willing to fix an issue. I know with the pandemic it's harder, everyone has their own views on it and opinions on how a restaurant should be and sometimes it won't meet your needs from the food to the drinks to the conversations or safety but I've read over some of these reviews and I felt I'd take it in my own hands and show recognition to these ladies, the staff, the management and acknowledge how far they'll go for a first time guest so imagine what they'll do for a regular like myself. Having been a fan of the Tridents for years I can't believe we walked out today without so much as a glass of water!!! We were seated right away by whom we think was the manager. After looking at the menus, going to the rest room we continued to sit and watch the two waitresses walk by, ask who had our table, try to appear busy, take other orders, walk by some more, we left! Specifically, $9 for a slice and ANY Pint is a CRAZY GOOD DEAL! SERIOUSLY, take advantage of that Sculpin Pint and grab one of those huge slices. That's like having 2 slices of FIRE-FRESH PIZZA for $2, and following it with a refreshing Pint of quality IPA. What's not to like? Look, I know I've written the longest review ever here, but Trident has a special place in my heart now. Once you start going there regularly, you'll notice the hard work everyone puts in every day to make this place special for you. My biggest reason for the rating with the service staff playing with their long hair and then serving food. Completely unhygienic! We arrived on a NFL playoff Saturday. Great football atmosphere! Very cozy with lots of large screen TVs playing the game. We had to wait to be seated - no big deal. We grabbed a beer at the bar while we waited. The pizza oven was the centerpiece of the room which was great. We have been to both Tridents on Campbell and Craycroft, both amazing food and service. I emphasize food as Trident gets it right! I cannot mention the wonderful clam chowder or philly cheese steak or just about anything on the regular menu. All delicious! Now, to the pizza. Umm how do I say Tostinos? I had the pizza margherita and it was terrible. We just got back from a visit to Europe and let me tell you, had the best pizza of our lives. Pizza margherita is the simplest that makes it the best. The star is the lovely soft fresh mozzarella. I don't know what Trident was thinking but the margherita I had tasted like the took it out of the frozen isle. The crust was just as bad. I am writing a bad review because I want to give Trident a chance to make it right. They are a wonderful college chain and just about everything they do is perfect. The pizza sucks though, plain and simple. Have a pizza chef go to Naples and learn how to do it. It will be worth it in the long run. Get your cheese from quality vendors. For a $60 tab and we each had 2 beers I am expecting more from Trident. read more
