We had just landed in Austin from two flights and needed to stop at Trader Joes to stock up our room. We were tired (cranky), hot and hungry and spotted this place. The vibe was cool and so was the AC! Our waitress was super sweet and explained everything on the menu. We ordered wine, a cocktail, the cucumbers, the Boujie pizza and some air fried chicken. The pizza SO GOOD! I wish we ordered more to bring back to our room because I could eat that pizza everyday, forever. They had Foccacia bread on the menu that said it could only be ordered after 5pm but we asked at 4:30 and lucky us they accommodated that request! The menu is extensive and has lots of different delicious healthy food options for you to choose from. I went there for a team building dinner and it was fun sampling a lot of different shared plates. All the food was fresh and delicious! Their staff was friendly and accommodating since their menu is so big they were helpful to help you pick your perfect entree. The restaurant is large and airy and can be loud at times. We came here again and had another good experience. We sat at the bar and were once again seated immediately without a reservation, which was nice. The bartenders did a great job as well. My fiancé got the smoked Gouda turkey burger, which was very good. I got the OG burger plain which was alright. The hummus was very good as well, definitely recommend that as a starter. Beautiful, open restaurant! I love that you can see the kitchen from any seat in the restaurant. We tried the edamame dumplings. That weren't too great to look at but they sure were tasty! We also tried the butternut squash soup. Which I loved. So delicious and perfect for a cold day. We were a little disappointed that they didn't have the glass noodles. I can't believe they ran out at 1PM on a Monday but I guess that's just proof of how good it is! We had pesto pasta and a ranch chicken wrap. Both very very delicious. Our only complaint was that the food was not hot, at all. Not sure if it was the lunch rush or how they choose to serve the food but the dumplings and the soup would have definitely been more delicious if they were warmer in temperature read more

However, when it arrived it was a VERY small container already and they only filled the container a little more than halfway. 8:45pm reservation. Arrived on time. Greeted nicely and sat immediately. Ordered a seasonal cocktail and an appetizer. Server (Lindsey, who was great) brought our cocktails. She asked if we were ready to order our entrees since the kitchen would be closing soon. We ordered our entrees and I specifically mentioned that I would order a glass of wine before the entrees arrived. At 9:04, the server came by. I asked for a Pinot Grigio. Server asked which one, and I wasn't sure since I thought there was only one listed on the the menu for "by the glass". Said she would get the menu. She returned 5 minutes later and told me the bar was closed and I could no longer order a glass of wine with my meal. I asked to speak to the manager. At 9:15, the manager, Christina, came to the table. I asked why I wasn't able to order a glass of wine with my meal since - a) we were not given a "last call", b) I specifically said I would be ordering a glass of wine with my meal, c) ordered the glass of wine only 19 minutes after our reservation time, and d) ordered before we received our meal. The manager would only say the bar closed at 9:00 and there was no way to order a glass of wine. I inquired further, but she just looked at me without offering any further discourse. Quite odd for a manager. The issue is not that the bar was closed or that I could not get a glass of wine. Kind of silly, really. The issue is the manager lacking the fundamental creativity and flexibility needed to resolve a customer issue. And then to act so disengaged from the issue. There was clearly a disconnect between the staff and manager's desires. That is not my issue. Good managers strive to attain a certain level of communication skills and problem-solving abilities. We have been somewhat "regulars" to this True Food Location. Usually dine there 1-3 times every 1-2 months. Food was great, as usual. Ambience was great, as usual. This breakdown was an abject failure. We won't be returning. read more

The food was pretty good, took awhile to get to us, the drinks were good, I had a hangover elixir type of drink and it was very good! Clean tasting food. We had wonderful service today at TFK. It was a random Tuesday around 12:00 and it was slammed! We had to wait about 20 minutes which wasn't too bad all told. We just got there right at the lunch rush. We finally got seated and waited several minutes for our waitperson to come take our drink orders. Out of nowhere, Paul, the house manager, came along to check on us. He apologized for any wait and comped us a free appetizer. Thanks Paul. He was attentive to our table and I could see him buzzing around the restaurant during our visit. He's very personable and is a hard worker. The hostess was very sweet as well. When we checked in, I gave her my cell number and we seemed to be waiting an abnormal amount of time. I went to check in on things when I saw that another two top had been seated before us. She explained that the reservation system was down and she was looking for people; kind of like the old days...I joked. She didn't seem to get my humor. I guess my humor is wasted on the young folks. Well, I made myself laugh! ;) We ordered two glasses of wine, which were pricey. In hindsight, we should have just gotten the bottle. #nexttime The cauliflower appetizer that Paul recommended was delicious. I ordered the Panang Curry with chicken. The description said that it was spicy. Well, the first bite was perfectly spicy and then the coconut milk took over and made the dish much too mild. I would order it again but ask for extra spice. The forbidden rice was perfectly cooked. I added chicken to the dish but it needed more chicken. There was barely any in the dish. The dish was overpowered by the sweet potatoes. I didn't care for them in that dish very much. It added a nice pop of color but that's about it. The rest of the veggies were great. I only found one piece of bok choy in my whole dish though. :( My friend ordered the kimchi fried rice bowl. She said hers was very flavorful. It looked great. She was a member of the clean plate club. #iykyk Overall, we had a lovely lunch. I don't always prefer the half booth/half table concept but tables were spaced far enough apart that it wasn't too bad. I would come here again and again! Just wow! My granny who is vegetarian was visiting for the weekend from California and I really wanted to take her to a restaurant with healthy options. We made a reservation through Open Table and had to make some last minute changes to the time due to flight delays but it was no problem pushing the reservation a few hours on a Friday night. Our server was exceptional and came back to check on us many times throughout the meal to ensure everything was going well with our experience. She explained how the seasonal menus worked since it was our first time eating there. She also went over the specials in detail and was very professional and kind. I tried the Lasagna Bolognese with fennel chicken sausage, mushroom, spinach, ricotta and basil paired with a glass of white wine. It was the perfect portion size, with more meat and vegetables filling than pasta which left me feeling perfectly full. It was full of flavor and one of the best lasagnas I've tried and was light enough I didn't feel too full. My fiancé had the Forbidden Poke with wild caught tuna, forbidden rice, avocado, roasted mushrooms, cucumber, jalapeño, citrus ponzu, edamame, & Chef Matt's Magical Dust. He loved this and said it has been one of his favorite meals in Austin. He paired this with a Mezcal Margarita which he said was a little sweeter than he had hoped for but still enjoyed very much. My granny had the Ancient Grains Bowl with miso sesame glazed sweet potato, turmeric, charred onion, snap pea, portobello, avocado, hemp seed, and cilantro pumpkin seed pesto. She was very happy with this and it was such a large bowl we took some home for leftovers. She had the Sparkling Prickly Pear Tisane to drink and liked it very much. We all shared a dessert which was their vegan/gluten free Pink Lime Tart made with ube, marcona almond-date crust, and coconut whipped cream. This was phenomenal, and one of the best deserts I've ever had. It was not too sweet and had such a unique flavor. I can't get over how good this was. The ambiance was gorgeous, very open room with beautiful decor and although it was very busy it felt very roomy and not too loud. This was our first time eating here but will most definitely not be the last time. Truly one of the best meals we have had in all of Austin and didn't break the bank either. 10/10 would recommend. read more

This part of Austin is very hip and modern. I absolutely loved stopping by the library a block away. The restaurant itself felt very nice and gave a sustainable vibe. Super disappointed with my recent True Food experience. I placed an online order for pickup. Waited 30 minutes past the scheduled time. Staff would never tell me when the order would be ready. I checked in multiple times without any clarity. They processed 30+ orders in the time I waited, mostly for people with pick up times after me. I finally asked for a refund so I could leave. The manager disappeared and never confirmed the refund. I had to track her down to confirm myself. Overall really poor service and attention to customers. There are way better options close by- Local Foods and Flower child to name two. These are my usual go to spots for pickup and customer experience is always great. So this is our second location that we've tried of them. I really really LOVED them at another location. This one is different. There wasn't many people in the restaurant and our waiter was sooooo slow. Messed up our order so it took even longer to get our drinks because I don't know if he has to manually make our peach lemonade ?? But it took a while to get 4 of them and than he came back with three. So it took forever again to get the last one. At the other location I had the ancient grain bowl and it had more flavor at the other location. My friend brought her daughter and they were able to accommodate with juice and fruit to satisfy her as well as plenty of food choices to satisfy us. Between catching up we checked out their menu that had a great mix of bowls, pizzas, platters, and appetizers. I was torn between the grass fed burger and panini. The waitress recommended the burger and I am so glad she did! Wow! The burger was full of flavor and had a slight crunch because of the flaxseed burger. So good that I had to stop myself from eating all of it. So I focused my concentration on the kale salad and sweet potato hash. I love that the waitress was able to do half and half as both were so good. The kale was raw, but it was mixed with a light sauce that helped with the bitterness. However, I really like this place: bright, spacious spaces, with lots of tables. Staffs were quick to greet and seat us, we went in around 1 in the afternoon on a Saturday as a party of two. We ordered the Grass Fed Burger with sweet potato hash and Teriyaki Quinoa Bowl, adding the chicken. Burger was divine, I love the mushrooms, arugula and juicy patties. The sweet p hash was too salty, I barely touched them. The quinoa teriyaki bowl has many veg: snow peas, mushrooms, avocado, beets? i think and they were quite generous with the chicken. Their hummus is one of the best I've had too. They nailed the ambience with the warm welcoming lighting, natural elements mixed with modern industrial design.
