Brought our 79 year old Aunt here for a nice lunch. The rules are overly strict. We were not allowed to join two tables together to accommodate our party of 10. They could not make a reservation for outside. We came. Labor Day Monday at 1:45. This is their slow time... counter productive. The food is, strike that, could be good! The menu is nice, I feel a little over priced. You could eat a poke bowl and walk away hungry. The fries if air fried cost an extra 2$. Lots of rules... The gluten free bun was 2.50$ extra and was hard as a brick:(. The 20$ hamburger was just ok. The table bucket of fries was disappointing, one had Parmesan and one did not. They were kind of hard too... as in not freshly air fried. Luckily we were hungry! The sauces (3) were not even ok. The ranch is billed as real ranch made in house, NOT! The Tara ketchup was ok, the bbq was ok. Actually if we were not hungry we probably would have returned them. The tomato soup was good but again overpriced. The neice got a chicken sandwich, it was not supposed to be blacked but it was:( she could not eat it. So they took that off the bill and charged her for the chicken tenders. They forgot to take off the gluten free roll. But they had the audacity to charge us for the little dessert for the auntie. We didn't ask for it and were surprised to see it on the check! 270$ check 60 some $ tip. The server was good, attentive and timely. After getting my blood drawn, I walked to True Food Kitchen to grab lunch. I started my meal with a zero proof cocktail - Blueberry 75. It was bubbly and tart. It tasted like apple cider vinegar. There was no actual blueberry taste to the mocktail other than fresh blueberries. After telling the server of my allergies and intolerance to spice, I ordered the Citrus Salmon Salad with a couple of modifications - no walnuts and parmesan instead of feta. The "salad" consisted of organic mixed greens, toasted almonds, grapefruit, and shaved parmesan topped with orange marmalade salmon. It wasn't really a salad in my opinion. They was a thin layer of greens underneath the salmon. I was glad that the citrus vinaigrette was on the side. Assuming it wasn't spicy, I poured it onto my "salad". I ordered the pasta with mushroom and it was creamy but lacked any real wow to it. My friend did order the poki and she did enjoy it. We did order the apple dessert and it was tasty but the ice cream was not tasty and had too much nutmeg almost. The ambiance can be impressive and the decor is welcoming and inviting. The server we had was very nice; he didn't try to get us to leave even though we sat through lunch and for another hour or more. If I have a complaint it's that it is very overpriced. Our family went to True Foods to celebrate Father's Day. Everyone ordered a different dish so we had a wide variety of items plus appetizers, desert and wine, Every one of the dishes were very good, from steak to salads and everything in between. The restaurant was full and very busy but not too loud so we able to have a pleasant conversation without shouting to be heard. Our Server was Hailey W. and she was terrific. She was welcoming and friendly but also handled herself very professionally. Hailey checked to make sure none of our party had any allergies or food restrictions. I really like that this place tries to put good food in their recipes. They are fully transparent with their ingredients and try to strive for non-inflammatory foods. Place can be quite expensive and the quantity of food could be bit underwhelming. On top of that, not every food item is as health conscious or non-inflammatory as it may seem. I was pretty excited when True Food opened so nearby. As someone who regularly obsesses over clean and healthy food, I couldn't wait to try it. We finally visited yesterday and unfortunately, what we ordered just didn't meet the level of excitement I had. I ordered the Ancient Grains Bowl and Chicken Mozzarella Panini, David got the Chicken and Sausage pizza. Upon walking in, I will say that liked the watermelon infused dispenser of water they had by the hostess counter. They had little tiny shot glass sized cups next to it- I strongly considered just filling my water glass there but thought that'd be too much LOL! Ancient Grains Bowl: I'm not a big pesto fan, but I did like the pesto sauce they had on the side, cilantro and pumpkin seed. The snap peas were a little underdone in my opinion. Overall it just seemed like something I could make in my home, so for $15+ I guess I was just expecting a little something special about it. And plus chicken would have been a whole extra $5 - so that was a no. For my money, I would much rather get the Mother Earth Bowl at Flower Child, Naked Lunch in Mom's Organic Market, or St. Veg in Rockville. Chicken and Mozzarella Panini: Sounded super yummy from the description - but, this one did not impress. The chicken was a dry, and there definitely wasn't enough mozzarella. I appreciate they tried to squeeze broccolini in there to get the veggies in, but my broccolini could have been cut up a little more, it was like having whole stems in there so with every bite you were eating broccolini heads and stems. I prefer to enjoy my veggies while barely noticing their presence. Chicken and Sausage Pizza: Our clear favorite of the dishes we ordered. Crust could have been a tad thinner, but overall flavor was good. I thought the sausage was pretty salty. But of the dishes we had, we liked this one. I probably wouldn't try True Food again unless I had a good reason, for my money I would rather go to elsewhere. Shoutout to Danielle our server because she was amazing and super friendly! P.S. We had a great experience at True Food Kitchen at the Rio. We had a table of four in our party and were promptly seated on their outdoor patio seating. The view of the lake on a nice day is enjoyable ambiance while dining. First we ordered the edamame guacamole for appetizer, which was a different take on the traditional guacamole that I have tried before. It is light and refreshing, and the edamame gave a slight crunch. Then for my main meal, I ordered the Korean steak, which had lots of flavor and had a kick of spice. I enjoyed the Korean steak, and would order it again. Also I loved the watermelon mojito, since it was light, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweetness for a summery drink. I think everything was going against me this evening. It was Friday night and we didn't have any reservations for dinner. We walked to three restaurants on the Rio boardwalk before we found a place that didn't require a 30 minute or more wait. We wanted to eat outside as the humidity was almost gone. Unfortunately, we got seated next to a table where one of the diners was wearing heavy perfume. Every time the wind blew, I felt the scent was too strong which can give me a headache. Because the bench with the back cushion was too comfortable, I decided to bear it and stay at the table. And if the heavy perfume wasn't an issue, there was a musician playing rock music nearby and unfortunately, the strumming of the electric guitar throughout dinner was grating on me. Despite all that, we decided to stay and try True Food Kitchen. After looking at the menu, we thought there wasn't anything that we would have liked. There are a lot of healthy and plant based items. You're not going to find a bacon cheeseburger and fries on the menu! Based on the pictures of the items in the menu, we thought the dishes might be small portions so for the two of us, we ordered three entrees: chicken panini, chicken sausage pizza, and chicken parmesan. The chicken parmesan was dry and I didn't want to spend time trying to finish it. I liked the brocolini. The pizza was great. The soft dough was just perfect and there was just the right amount of ingredients. We were full with the two entrees and ended taking home the panini. Service was great. Our server checked in on us several times. I didn't think we would see him again because he did say that all we had to do was scan the QR code, see the menu, place our order, and pay all online. He even told us we wouldn't need him if we didn't. read more

We said we wanted to order in-person so the waiter took our order and then at the end they said we can pay online with the QR code. But when clicking the code it says that we can order the food and it'll come out soon. But we already ate and just wanted to pay instead of reordering. We waited a while before waving over another staff to say we wanted to pay in-person. That staff member then told our waiter and they had to bring the whole check over etc. etc. the process was very long. Buttt back to ambience, pretty modern restaurant. Nice decor. Keep in mind the sides options are only sweet potato hash or kale!!! I was very surprised. Wish there was a bit more of a variety here. A vegetarian friendly restaurant that serves food that is locally sourced and in season. There is indoor and outdoor seating (with a covered patio and heaters!) You can order through the QR code or with the waiter. I ordered the Good Earth Kale Cobb (seasonal) and Sparkling Prickly Pear Tisane. For protein, it's an additional add on. Our waitress recommended the shrimp as she stated other customers raved about it. I honestly thought the shrimp was ok, but not the best. It was fresh but lacked flavor. The salad itself was good, I enjoyed the dressing. The drink was good, and you can definitely taste the prickly pear (sweet, does not taste like pear btw). I would suggest coasters for drinks as there was a lot of condensation all over the table. Our waitress was very sweet and would often check in on us. Imagine my excitement and then immediate disappointment at the first bite. First, the soup... imagine gravy with corn & pico. Right?! Like what in the mudpie was this? How about cooking everything fresh. Fresh corn-- a lot, muddle it so some is whole and some is broken down, add a cream base (or of some sort given vegetarian), use a fresh tomato-- heirloom would bring a better flavor, authentic spices, top with a dollop of sour cream, avocado & cilantro and crisps. The poke... visually pleasant but flavorless and uneventful. The bowl didn't marry. It was like a junk drawer of stuff thrown together because the colors are pretty. The protein allotment was not sufficient for the price. My waiter Navi was polite, professional, and super patient with me. He felt bad for me not liking my meal and tried to make it up. It wasn't his fault the chef is catering to the bland and uncultured. This man (Navi) deserves to be working elsewhere, to which I told him. He is too great a server to be representing a restaurant that carries fare that is subpar. Would I ever come back? I love farm to table cuisine but this was an insult. I'd rather drink from the lake with a straw and eat dirt from the garden beds. read more

Came here for a weekend brunch. Food was healthy and delicious - got the bowl with eggs, veggies, cheese, and sweet potatoes. Small portion, but it was enough for a light brunch. Tasted the grilled Korean steak as well, and it was flavorful and yummy. Ordered the strawberry margarita, but they have other many other options for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Deducted a star for the super slow service. Had to ask for water for the table numerous times, and we didn't get any until the very end after we already finished our meals. We came with a group, and had different servers per table, but one of our friends at the other table didn't get his food until much much later than everyone else.
