The bánh khọt was a bit disappointing since it wasn't crispy, which is what I usually look for. The bánh canh cua was decent--I liked the thick, rich consistency of the broth. However, for the price, I was expecting more toppings, especially more crab meat and meat. Overall, the flavors were good, but the portions could be more generous.

I seriously can't say this enough--I LOVED this place! From the moment I walked in, I was obsessed. The restaurant is absolutely adorable--everything from the menu to the decor to the staff uniforms is thoughtfully designed and just so cute. And the staff? Incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. As for the food... WOW. If I had to describe it in one word: superb. Every single dish, every single bite was amazing. I was literally doing a happy dance the entire meal. I already can't wait to come back. Thank you for such a wonderful dinner!

Came around 830 on Saturday, it was out post workout meal! I tried so many Vietnamese restaurants but this was the place i would surely return to try their other dishes. It was a hidden gem! The plaza has many restaurants but I chose them cause I was craving vermicelli! Slightly light dinner! Servers wearing their cute traditional outfit, decorated walls were so cute, loved their music choice (making quiet background for customers to enjoy their food). - Vermicelli: Grilled pork and prawns were on point, perfectly cooked, well balanced with noodles and lettuce. Service was great, servers were so polite and friendly. They really keep their space clean and well organized. You will love it as soon as you walked in to the door!

I had this place bookmarked for awhile and it kept popping up on TikTok. We came in and were seated right away and the reason was because the other Banh Canh places were already closed in San Jose. My review for each item: Banh Canh: 3/5, I've had better in San Jose & OC so it's hard to compare when I've already had the best. I wish they added shrimp and made the broth more umami & savory. You do get a good portion for ordering the large which I shared with my partner. But we both had to add fish sauce to give the flavor more of a kick. Banh Knot: 4/5, certain regions in Vietnam do the white Banh knot and this is the first I've seen in the Bay Area. It was crunchy and had that sweet coconut flavor. The fish sauce dip did need a little more so we added some to it since it was on the lighter side. Pha Lau: 2/5, I've honestly have had better Pha Lau, not sure if this was a different version but a little more on the runny side & coconut side for me and my partner. This is his favorite dish so slight disappointing when it wasn't up to par with what we're used to. I know in Vietnam depending on region things are seasoned and prepared differently. But I hope they don't shy away from just putting the full out authentic flavors. I see a lot of protection and growth they can make to their already extensive menu.

A friend and I saw an Instagram reel for this place and I really wanted to try. We made it happen and got two more friends to join for dinner. The crispy egg rolls were pretty tasty. I've had ones just like those. The Banh Khot was good too. The Instagram video mentioned a pandan tea that I did not see on the menu so I asked for it. It tasted pretty good. I don't see this in other Vietnamese places so it felt unique. The main thing I wanted to try was their signature dish: Banh Canh Cua - Vietnamese udon with Dungeness crab, pork slices, and shrimp strips. This was my first time trying something like that. It tasted pretty good, but nothing extraordinary. Also saw a sign for a dish that we couldn't understand. The server did not know how to explain what it was in English initially. Came back and told us it was beef offals. I've had beef offals in Chinese, Korean, and Japanese cuisines, but not Vietnamese. The food here was pretty good, but a bit steep if we are just eating Vietnamese "street foods."

Years ago I had this restaurant and don't remember it being hella good but recently had it again for take out. Banh canh cua had a nice thick class consistency but after eating it, its the choice of toppings they used. Maybe I'm a little picky on the cut of pork. I felt like it was missing something. Perhaps not enough crab. I think the two small items pink items in the soup (is that cha ca??) also aren't my favorite proteins. While it was an additional variety as a topping, it made me dislike it a little more. The broth though was decently flavored so I'd give it a 3/5 The star for me was the banh khot. Even after take out it, it was decently crispy and good flavor. Dare I say one of the better banh khot around San Jose. I'd come back again for this but not rush back for the banh canh. Food - 3.5 / Price - 3.5

This is one of our go to spots when we're craving some comfort food. We usually come on a weeknight right after 5pm and get seated right away. The servers here are very nice and attentive. For food, we usually will order the deep fried crispy fried eggrolls. The texture and flavor of these eggrolls are sooooo good! Our next favorite go to dish is bun rieu because it's our comfort food to eat when we're feeling under the weather or just want something hearty to eat. Whatever peppers they use always has a kick! The other dishes we have enjoyed are the mi thai, banh khot, com bo luc lac. There's so much other dishes to try so we'll continue to try something new each time we come back.

Friendly staff, consistently fresh food, and still one of my go-to spots for banh canh cua. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the ingredients always taste high quality. The restaurant has a welcoming vibe and the staff are always kind and attentive. It does seem like the menu has been expanded or updated recently -- possibly from an ownership change -- but overall the quality has still been solid. Definitely a spot I'll continue coming back to when craving Vietnamese comfort food.

First time trying this place and I will definitely come back! The com tam dishes were delicious and I loved the broken rice served with it. The fried egg rolls were very crispy and savory too! One of my fav parts of this place is the decor inside feels very cozy and they play very calming music. Our food also came out quite quickly and we felt very taken care of. 10/10!

Highly underrated place. Food is excellent. Downside the bowl is average size not large. This is either a good or bad thing based on how much you eat. I prefer this size to keep my calories down. The banh canh cua is excellent and so is their Mi Nam Vang. Only thing is there's no liver which is supposedly the trade mark of Hi Tieu/Mi Nam Vang. There ingredients are also slightly different with lots of seafood. Good food. Skip the Nam Vang if you prefer tradition ingredients.

Almost forgot this was the whole point! Being foodies, we eat at so many different places we forget about the food we grew up with sometimes. @truongthanhrestaurant is an OG spot that serves delicious and flavorful Vietnamese dishes we all know and love growing up. We felt right at home after just one bite. They're known for their Banh Canh but don't skip out on their Mi Thai! Egg noodles with hugeeee prawns. With a huge selection of dishes and drinks, there's definitely something for everyone for family fun. Service was so nice and restaurant is so cozy

Banh Canh Cua is soooo good. Definitely order some Chinese Donuts to soak up the gravy-like broth. So savory and flavorful. The noodles were perfectly chewy and this was overall just a deliciously hearty dish. Made me feel warm and fuzzy. Don't sleep on the Thai-style Egg Noodles! (Mi Thai Truong Thanh) Actually blew my mind! The pasty sauce is a little sweet and spicy. However, the fried jumbo prawns? INSANELY GOOD. I was addicted to this. If you're not in the mood for banh canh, order this!!! I have to admit that the prices are a little high, but it's one of the few specialized Vietnamese restaurants in the Milpitas area. I would come back!

This is one of our favorite Vietnamese spots in Milpitas especially when we are too lazy to drive to SJ but my husband asked me to write a review this time :) My son's friends mom who is also Vietnamese actually told us about this spot and we usually come here for their banh canh cua (crab noodle soup) which is a crowd favorite and perfectly chewy. Our usual favs are the egg rolls, banh khot and a bun Bo hue for my spice loving boy. The banh khot is def one of my favorite things to eat - def a 5/5! My husband wanted to try something different this time: he ordered an egg noodle dish that he liked but i thought the flavors were just alright. I do usually love all of their noodle or rice dishes though! Anyway I just wanted to give them a shout out because my daughter likes her bland noodles so we usually order her a side of extra noodles plain, and today they gave us extra noodles and soup instead. While a nice gesture and totally worth the $ if you really just wanted an extra large bowl it wasn't what we needed. When we asked them to exchange it they were very accommodating and gracious, and brought out extra noodles without charging us extra. We tried the fried banana and ice cream today too and my kids have already declared it their new favorite dessert. It can be hard taking young kids out to eat, but my kids never complain when we come here because it's clean, relatively quiet and the food is yummy.

Yes, it's definitely worth going to if you've never had Vietnamese beef 7 ways or baked catfish…read more There's not many of these types of restaurants around. General for celebratory reasons and it originated from the south as well. You can find many other Vietnamese cuisine out there, but unless you have a bigger Vietnamese population, this is a much more rare find. So when our friend from NY was visiting for Fanime, we had to get this. Though, I will say this to start with, nothing can ever beat my dear Thien An Bo 7 Mon from SoCal. I'm biased and I'm not afraid to say it, but I know that NorCal is lacking in many ways and with that in mind, it makes sense that the prices are higher (rent and costs of operation are much higher in NorCal, I'm sure) and the other differences as well. Regardless, the service was attentive and welcoming and they even chased my bf outside to his car when he foolishly left his card in the restaurant. There is a policy that the 7 course beef is 1 order per person and minimum 2 orders. I have not seen that in SoCal and they let us grossly share 1 order between 3 people, but things might have changed. With that in mind, 2 orders split between 3 people was more than enough. For drinks, my boyfriend got some local brewed IPA and when I sent my dad the picture (he's a Viet refugee), he immediately got triggered by the year that was on the can before I explained to him the origins that were on the label. I got a soda chanh muoi (salted lemon sparkling water and you pour the sparkling soda water from a cold can yourself into the mix in a glass). Refreshing and a sharp salty sour bite in between courses. The 7 course beef came as it would any other restaurant that does it: 1) Goi Bo (House Special Beef Salad) 2) Bo Nhung Dam (Beef in Wine Vinegar Fondue) -Not sure why it's translated this way but it's raw beef slices that have been seasoned in vinegar with some onions on top and you cook it in a hot pot broth. 3) Bo Cha Dum (Steamed Beef Patty) 4) Bo Cuon No Chai (Grilled Beef Sausages) 5) Bo Cuon La Lot (Beef wrapped in Lot leaf) -Easily the favorite of the table. You can never go wrong with leaf wrapped meats as you can see that it is a worldwide dish and phenomenon regardless of the protein and the vegetation used. -Savory and a bit smoky with a kick from the leaves. Good stuff. 6) Bo Nuong Xa (Beef roll with onion and lemon grass) 7) Chao Bo (Beef porridge) - the version I had in SoCal had cute beef alphabet and star pasta soup and I'm not the biggest fan of porridge so this was just okay to me. All the beef was seasoned well and moist, not too dry or tough. Definitely more than enough to share especially with the generous amount of rice paper and veggies to roll in. Again, just my qualm because I'll always compare every Viet 7 beef course with my OG in SoCal, but they had a vertical rice paper water rolling dish that made it easier to wet the rice paper without it getting soggy and without the water getting gross or the bowl taking up too much space. We additionally got vermicelli noodles to stuff our rolls too, which would have been nice to add a little bit of carbs into our meal, but if you're more into protein and veggies, this was good. Overall not bad and a must to try at least once.

There are a myriad of pho restaurants around the South Bay, but Pho Kim Long has always felt like one of the more nostalgic and reliable options for me. The broth has plenty of flavor without feeling overly greasy, and the meat is generally lean without being excessively fatty. I was recommended this place a friend whom is Vietnamese and grew up in San Jose, which tends to have really good Vietnamese because it has the largest Vietnamese community in the Bay Area/Northern CA. They have a wide range of beef noodle soups, chicken noodle soups as well as bun/vermicelli bowls and rice plates. I've had the pho beef noodle soups both times I've been, one time with the bone-in short rib, another time with the P1 Combo Noodle Soup. They offer fresh noodles (wide noodles) or the normal pho (thin) noodles, I've had both before. My wife recently had their pork bun vermicelli which the pork was tender and the ingredients fresh. Their side of fish sauce was warm which I had never seen before, but it helped tie the ingredients together. Also highly recommend their chicken wings which came out piping hot and had good flavors to it. One thing my friend did once which I didn't know was possible, he ordered chicken pho with the beef broth, I'm not sure if that's a common thing but maybe I'd try that next time. Even when it's busy their staff try very hard to fulfil orders. They're in a strip mall complex with a parking lot which fills up pretty quick.

If you're looking for a taste of Hanoi in South Bay, this spot is a great find. As a Viet, I've…read morealways felt homesick and my ultimate goal in the Bay is to find a bowl of pho that actually feels like home. I know the purists will say this isn't the authentic Pho Thin Lo Duc, but honestly to me doesn't matter. As long as food slaps and my belly is happy, then I'm sold. My favorite dishes here are pho tai lan and pho tai dap. And 2 sides you should order whenever you have Hanoi pho is quay (fried dough) and poached egg. The broth may not be the best, but it's rich, beef is stir-fried perfectly with signature garlic aroma (it's called tai lan for a reason, and dipping the quay into the soup took me straight back Hanoi. It's rare to find a place in Bay that serves pho with quay, so I really appreciate the authenticity. This restaurant is just comforting, delicious, and for a moment, it made the distance from home feel a little smaller. No matter what other people say, this is my favorite spot in the Bay for sure!

The service was nice, friendly, and attentive. I ordered #14 Pho Tai Gau Bo Vien: Combination Steak Soup. Choice of thin or wide noodles (3.5/5). The clean broth was decent and filled with green onions. Also it was piping hot which unfortunately cooked the raw steak into clumps. The portion-size was fairly good.

The Chinese sausage pieces sprinkled throughout added extra flavor too. The bowl is deep so there seemed to be roughly 5 cups of rice. Unfortunately the laksa shrimp fried rice was disappointing in comparison. It didn't have much flavor overall - better than plain rice but definitely needed more seasoning. The menu lists homemade laksa sauce as an ingredient but we didn't taste that, and the dish wasn't spicy at all either despite the 1 chili pepper rating. But it looked just like the menu picture so maybe the description is wrong. Fried chicken with tom yum sauce came with 6 pieces. Very juicy. We also enjoyed the herbal roasted prime steak with sausage rice. The delicious rice had the taste of fish sauce. Most of the short rib slices were soft and a few were slightly chewy but overall decent quality. Some of the fattier pieces of meat were still attached to the bone.

The stinky tofu was definitely stinky but not my desired texture. It was also too salty. The decor is nice, service could be more attentive.

You can tell they put a lot of thought into the details. The restaurant itself is also really cute and aesthetically pleasing. They have some really nice decorations and cute little spots that are perfect for taking pictures . The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, which I really enjoyed. The service was fast and friendly, and our food came out surprisingly quickly. Overall, we really enjoyed our lunch here and would definitely come back again!

After reading through some reviews, I decided to order the bone marrow fried rice, and this was easily the highlight. I'd definitely order it again next time. It came with a generously sized bone marrow bone with plenty of marrow inside. I immediately scooped it all out, broke it up, and mixed it into the fried rice, which made every bite incredibly rich, savory, and indulgent in the best way possible. Their take on bò né, on the other hand, could be a hit or miss depending on your expectations. Unfortunately, this one was a miss for me. I appreciate the creativity behind their fusion version, but I didn't feel like the changes necessarily elevated the original dish. The meat also wasn't as tender or juicy as I would've liked. It wasn't a terrible dish by any means, but despite how interesting and tasty it looks in photos, it's probably not something I'd recommend or order again. Overall, I'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu. They offer a lot of unique and creative dishes that you don't typically see elsewhere, and the bone marrow fried rice alone was good enough to make me want to return. Next time, I'd skip the bò né and use the stomach space to try a few more of their specialties!

Safe to say I DO NOT recommend this place at all and I'm never coming back here ever again. Here's what happened: A family got seated, then our party of 4, and a party of 2 after (this is the order of who came in the restaurant chronologically). This part is important...but we got seated right next to the family and the party of 2 got seated behind us. The older gentleman who was taking orders came around to take the orders of the family next to us. When they finished, we spoke up and said that we were ready to order & raised our hand...but he did not even look our way, deliberately skipped us, and rushed over to go take the orders of the party of 2 who came after us. Then he walked away?!...Didn't even bother to ask if we were ready!! So once again, we raised our hand and we ended up getting the attention of the lady at the cash register and she told the same older gentleman that we were ready to order. He barely turned to look at our party and said he'll take our order after and kept going. I was honestly so bothered by that, but thank you to the lady at the register for coming up to our table very shortly after to take our food orders instead. I honestly feel uncomfortable eating here now. I feel like we definitely experienced microaggression. We weren't even loud or acting crazy. We were quiet and polite. Even IF he didn't hear us, he didn't even acknowledge us or check-in on us. Couldn't really enjoy our food after that happened. I was just wanting to get out of this restaurant asap. I personally would rather go to any other pho restaurant in the area.
