We came here for lunch and got the 11 piece omakase for $48 - pretty good deal!! They gave my husband an extra piece because it was his birthday - very nice of them! I enjoyed all the pieces. You can also pay more for pieces at the end. We paid extra for to try the wagyu caviar truffle - about $25 a piece. I enjoyed the otoro - so buttery and just melted in my mouth. We were seated very promptly- staff was very nice and attentive! I have also been to the Kips Bay location. Chef was knowledgeable and efficient!

Blown away!!! We went for the endless tuna experience and it was so good. The fish was extremely fresh, they gave us sooo much uni and ikura and caviar. I wish I could've ate more. Our sushi chef was super attentive always standing on deck ready to serve us the next piece during the ayce portion haha Instagram & tiktok: @ra_eats

My friends and I had a great omakase experience! All the nigiris had creative dressing and flavors that I typically don't get to try. As a NY tourist, I'm impressed by the fish quality here. The only con from our experience was that the courses felt a bit rushed. Each course was served very quickly & we ended up finishing our meal earlier than the estimated time listed when I made the reservation. Regardless, I would come back for their fish. Amazing value for what you get!

I came to Tsumo Omakase for their AYCE Tuna Event. I was prepared to eat as many pieces as possible, and I can proudly say I did. When we walked in, the chefs greeted us and explained the different parts of the fish. The place has two separate rooms to accommodate for more people, but it was all counter side, which I enjoyed. We got to try every section, and my favorite tasting was the chutoro with truffle. The tuna just kept coming and coming, and I was not backing down. By the end, I ate a total of 28 pieces, but I believe the record for that day was 37. In the end, I was tired of tuna, but it was all so delicious and I learned a lot about the fish and techniques!

FINALLY I tried the ENDLESS bluefin tuna omakase at Tsumo -- thick-cut toro stacked high and topped with luxe ingredients like caviar, uni, and ikura -- served nonstop until you say "STOP". Yes, it's technically AYCE, but the quality is TOP NOTCH. Nagasaki tuna is prized for its rich and fatty profile. The cooler waters off Nagasaki mean this tuna builds up way more fat than other regions. We tasted all three cuts: lean akami, buttery chutoro, and the fattiest otoro. They served it every way: sashimi with shoyu, perfect nigiri, and loaded hand rolls. One of my favorites was the negitoro don: a mountain of chopped toro drenched in uni and ikura, paired with crispy fried seaweed chips. It's $180 per person, and for this level of quality, it's honestly a solid deal if you've got the appetite. They didn't hold back: thick slabs of tuna were literally piled up and finished with premium toppings. Jaw dropping to see they generously topped our toro don with loads of caviar. Toward the end, the chefs freestyled with thick toro slabs layered in truffle. Some remarkable courses include: - akami, chutoro and otoro nigiri - negitoro don with uni and ikura - charred otoro nigiri with caviar - toro caviar don - triple tuna truffle handroll The chefs kept the omakase going for a full 90 minutes. Some people in our group powered through 20+ courses!? I tapped out at 13 courses (I'm a loser I know), but I heard the best record is 40 courses lol. No surprise that Tsumo is fire as the endless tuna series is in collab with Ume Hospitality, so you already know the omakase is going to be next level.

The place is very nice, great ambiance, cozy, and even the counter seats didn't feel tight. The service was excellent and the staff was attentive. Now on to the Endless Tuna experience: I loved the presentation. Watching the chefs break down the tuna into different cuts from lean to fatty was such a treat, and nothing beats that level of freshness. The portions were generous, and the pacing never felt rushed. Overall, it was a great experience. My only complaint is toward the end of the meal. They began stacking multiple pieces of the same tuna cuts, and it became a bit repetitive since you don't get to choose what's next. At one point, the chef made six stacked nigiri; two guests at the end of the counter said "stop," but it was already made. After I finished the piece he placed in front of me, he ended up putting the unwanted pieces from the other guests onto my plate. I didn't want to eat the same thing again, but I also felt like I couldn't refuse it. I wish there had been an option to request a different nigiri instead. Aside from that, it was a memorable experience and definitely worth trying if you love fresh tuna. The price wasn't bad $180 for ayce within 90 minutes.

Food: The endless tuna event was excellent. The tuna was very fresh and amazing quality. As soon as you sit down, the sushi chefs go around with the tuna to allow you to take pictures before they start cutting it up. The event last 90 minutes and the sushi chefs keep serving you courses until you say stop. The courses range from sashimi to nigiri to hand rolls to mini rice bowls. They definitely don't skimp on the fish and even stack multiple pieces on one piece of rice. Every piece tasted so delicious and fresh. I would highly recommend this event if you are a fan of tuna. Service: Service was phenomenal. The sushi chefs were fun and friendly. The waitress was also very attentive and cleared empty dishes and refilled water quickly. Ambiance: This restaurant is a good size with two different rooms, each with their own sushi bar. There are about 20 seats in each room. The decor ambiance is simple and clean. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Manhattan, NY (Upper West Side) - the Financial Times runs an article about sushi deflation coming to NYC with a trend of more affordable omakase. I send it to my friend who suggests we try this new UWS location of Tsumo which is a couple of blocks from his apartment. At $58 for 13 courses, the deal's a steal! I accept without hesitation. I easily book a 6:15pm slot on Resy for the day we want, pleasantly surprised at the number of open slots and relieved at not having to navigate the complex matrix of Tetris-ing limited competitive hot restaurant availabilities against limited competitive hot scheduling availabilities of any group of people in NYC, which often results in meeting up 3 months later or resigning ourselves to dine at a less coveted hour. The presentation is elegantly simple and the courses are no-frills - there are no molecular gastronomic appetizers plated on antique Japanese flatware here to round out the nigiri courses - but the quality and variety of fish are mostly admirable, especially so for the exceptional value. The pieces are fresh, sumptuously cut and delicately seasoned as per the Edomae tradition. Each seating is 75 minutes and they'll only hold your table for 5 minutes, but the experience does not feel rushed at all. At the end of the 13 courses, which concluded with a toro hand roll, you're given the opportunity to add more pieces a la carte including from a changing specials menu. Our chef was friendly and quietly engaging. Omakase is an art form that's best graduated into for initiants, meaning the nuances of the $450+ omakase will be lost on those who don't take the time to understand and appreciate the history & philosophy, ingredients, sourcing, preparation techniques, craft and presentation of the more high-end omakases, and there's no point jumping into those thinking you're getting a "better" experience simply because it's more expensive. At 1/10 the price point of some of the luxe celebrity chef omakase joints that are proliferating around the city, go here before the secret is out and it becomes harder to snag a reservation!

Service was great and the inside was super clean and nice! The omakase much were good. My fav pieces were o toro, hotate, chi toro and Wagyu.

Delicious and fresh sushi! Highly recommend if you're in the area, definitely check them out. Definitely pricey, but definitely worth it! You pay for the food and one on one experience with the sushi chef. If you have a big appetite you might need to walk a block down and get a pizza lol

I just brought my wife here for her birthday celebration and we had a blast. We obviously went for the omakase, which was outstanding (and very affordable). We ended up ordering a repeat of a few of our favorite items, although it was tough to choose, as they were all delicious and wonderfully prepared. We had a great time watching the chef preparing our food with so much care. Next time we will probably order an additional omakase to share, which is more interesting, varied and costs a lot less than just ordering a handful items à la carte (we didn't know it was an option). Very recommended.

Tsumo on the Upper West Side delivers a quietly confident omakase experience--refined, well-paced, and refreshingly unflashy in all the right ways. I came in for the base omakase and left thoroughly impressed (and, to my relief, actually full). We had a reservation and were seated right on time--always a promising start. The space is calm and minimal, with just enough polish to feel elevated without being intimidating. Service was attentive and seamless, and the chefs were clearly skilled, both in preparation and in presentation. Each piece was introduced clearly, which I always appreciate--knowing what you're eating somehow makes it taste even better. The progression of the meal felt intentional, with a lovely balance of texture, temperature, and flavor. There was an impressive range of fish--not just the usual suspects--and each bite was handled with real care. Though I stuck to the base menu, it was easy to see why others around us were adding extra pieces from the à la carte selection, which includes higher-end seasonal offerings. If you're still hungry, or just curious, the staff makes it very easy to keep the experience going at your pace. In short: Tsumo is now my go-to omakase on the UWS. Excellent quality, graceful service, and a calm atmosphere that lets the food do the talking. If you're looking for sushi with precision, variety, and just enough room for curiosity, this is the spot.

If you love tuna, run- do not walk to Tsumo! They fly in their fish fresh from Japan everyday. They do a live cutting of the fish in front of you so don't be late to your reservation. My friend and I were so full because the size of the portions is double the normal size at your average omakase. We ended up tapping out after 15 servings. The fish was so delicious though. Honestly, for just the amount of fatty tuna, caviar and uni alone, that is worth the price. Best omakase value if you come hungry. Not sure which sake to get? Get the Kubota.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. We walked into a stylish, energetic space with a menu designed around sharing, making it a good option for a casual dinner or group meal. The interior has a contemporary, lively feel with an open kitchen that adds energy to the room, and the seating is arranged to accommodate both small groups and larger parties comfortably. Instead of sticking strictly to traditional Japanese dishes, the menu mixes familiar flavors with more modern presentations, creating a dining experience that feels both approachable and exploratory. The standout item is the katsu, which is where the restaurant really shines. We ordered the pork loin and tenderloin versions and found the breading crisp while the meat stayed tender and juicy, the crust holding up well without becoming greasy. The mazemen is another highlight, with chewy noodles and a rich sauce that brought a lot of flavor without feeling too heavy, the sauce coating each strand evenly and the toppings adding layers of texture and depth. Beyond those, dishes like the butter scallops, corn ribs, and seafood options added variety and made it worth ordering multiple plates to share. The scallops were well seared with a buttery finish, and the corn ribs offered a smoky, slightly charred flavor that paired well with the richer dishes. The desserts are also a memorable part of the meal. The corn ice cream is one of the more unique items, with a sweet and savory flavor that sounds unusual but works surprisingly well, the sweetness of the corn balanced by a subtle savory note that kept it from feeling cloying. It fits the restaurant's overall approach of taking familiar ingredients and presenting them in a more unexpected way, and the creativity of the dessert menu feels consistent with the rest of the meal. Service and atmosphere add to the experience, with attentive staff and a lively dining room that feels suited for groups. The team checked in at the right moments and kept the pacing of the meal comfortable, and the open kitchen added a layer of engagement as we watched the dishes come together. Reservations can be difficult to get, especially during busy times, and the small plate format means the best experience comes from ordering several dishes rather than focusing on one entree. The variety across the menu encourages sharing, and the pacing of the meal works well for a longer, more social dinner. konban delivers a well-executed modern Japanese dining experience. While some of the more hyped dishes may not completely live up to expectations, the katsu, noodles, and seafood dishes make it a worthwhile visit. The combination of creativity, quality ingredients, and a lively atmosphere makes it a destination for exploring different flavors and dishes together rather than just ordering one signature item, offering a meal that feels both engaging and satisfying.

The pork was so tender. the ebi tempura were huge, and the mazemen was thankfully not spicy. However, the scallops could've been more tender and we we were all unimpressed with the ube tiramisu.
