After the movies I wanted lunch. Lots of places to choose from. I went for the Korean fried chicken I got the number 2 combo. Yang nyum chicken which had a sweet n spicy sauce over the chicken, which were wings and drumlettes. I liked the side of pot stickers that came with it and the jap chae, and kim chi. Tasty food and friendly cashier/server. First time here with a really good experience. I got the beef bulgogi bibimbap, beef bulgogi kimbap, and the rice cake Sodduk Sodduk. Everything tasted really good. I was just a little disappointed in the amount of meat in each dish. They all had a small amount of beef for the portion of rice, egg, and vegetables. They also ran out of sausages for the Sodduk Sodduk but the server politely told us he could replace them with all rice cakes, which were crispy and delicious. read more

The guy behind the counter was very nice and explained the menu....today the girl who was behind the counter, and took my order was let's just say blahhhhhh...she didn't say a word to us, didn't greet us just starred. Took our order, grabbed her things, and walked out. The girl who took over after her interacted with customers and was pleasant. I got the #2 yang nyum wings last time, and they were sweet with a little kick. Today, I ordered the extra crispy #9 and the extra spicy #7. The spicy does have some serious kick- not crying kick but enough to make your nose run and blow your pallet. The extra crispy was some dam good fried chicken lightly salted and had some pepper on it. Between the two visits, I would say #2, #9, #7 are my rank orders. I want to come back and try the jalapeños as those are supposed to be a med heat. I was bummed today they were out of the pickled radishes, which are soooo good. What I got: * Half & Half (5/10): $28.99 18 pieces original + Yang nyum. Honestly, the flavor in the chicken was really lacking. Especially the Yang nyum one I couldn't make out the taste. I also got the mixed wings and drums but they only gave me 3 wings the rest were drumlettes. * Kimchi Fried Rice (3/10): $13.99 There was barely any kimchi and it was super salty. It was drenched in this sauce and oily too. I wasn't able to eat much of it just a couple of bites. * Dduk bok gi (7/10): $12.99 This tasted good. But, it felt like something you could also get at the Korean store and make at home. I don't know if they make the sauce themselves or not. I've tried this spot twice now and am a huge fan! So glad it's just down the street. Their original and extra crispy wings are both delicious. Even without a sauce, they add seasonings and garnishes to make the wings taste delicious. The wings aren't the largest ones out there, but they are so tender and juicy. This is the first kfc place i've tried in sac and it did not disappoint compared to the places i've been to in the bay area! I'm definitely coming back :) Me and a friend split the half and half chicken of 18 wings for $28. We also got the sodduk sodduk to share for $7. Steamed rice was $2. It was both of our first times trying sodduk sodduk and it was soooo good I wish i found out about this dish sooner!! It was essentially rice cakes with sausage in a sweet and spicy sauce. The rice cakes surprisingly had a perfect crisp to them which was not was I was expecting since they are always soft when I've had them. Super yummy, i loved it! :) As for the wings, I think the half and half was the way to go. The original was crispy, and the yangnyeom added flavor to the meal. After coming here for years I'm sad to say that my days coming here every week or so is probably over. Till about a month ago the food here was great, the service terrific! Last time we came a couple of weeks ago the chicken was over cooked and dry. Service was still great. This last visit we order a full order of chicken which isn't cheap. But this time for a small container with about two spoons of sauce we were being charged a dollar. Which in itself is not a really big deal. For me, maybe for others it's just the principle of it. Like being charged for ketchup when you buy fries.... Napkins, when you buy food. Just ain't right when you're being charged $2 a wing. Had a really good experience here. It was recommended by one of my coworkers. I orders the combo with the original chicken. Chicken was really flavorful but I was very impressed with everything else on the plate and I finished it until it was clean! I even tried out the bulgolgi and it was pretty good! The restaurant was very clean and there was kpop playing in the background. I felt well taken care of by the staff who came in to make sure that everything was going well. Whewww. $44 for fried chicken and a box of kimchee fried rice?! Expensive, but for the portion size, understandable. These aren't just tiny little wings, after all. They're like... KFC-sized breasts and drumsticks with whatever flavoring you want! But regardless of portion size, the food was just okay. After going back to their Yelp page and re-reading her the address listed on this restaurant's profile, she confirmed I had, indeed, called the correct restaurant. Okaaaaaaay. Not sure why we had to go through all of that, but surely there is a better way to confirm this sort of thing with customers without confusing the hell out of them. I can't imagine my mom or father in law calling in to place an order and dealing with this. So, yeah. Maybe the frustrating customer service is tainting my rating, and making the food taste juuust a little worse. Maybe we'll have better luck actually ordering in person? Who knows? But the food was just okay. I'm a Korean Food fanatic and order it + dine in + make it myself pretty often, so I know when it's okay, good, and REALLY freaking good. If you have that kind of a start with about 20 reviews and avg a "3", something is slapping you and saying wake up. When a business says we may have to review pricing and says but we are running a 15% off deal now, they seem to make excuses not to listen to their customers who are the only ones who matter in the crowded foodie/restaurant spots vying for customer's $. Don't kid yourself. In this new world of inflation to the moon, high prices on everything, price/upcharge gouging/daily/weekly/monthly price increases, unchanged menu prices but just casually tell you they are higher than what it says in the menu but I never bothered to tell you type eateries is commonplace today. But the customers know when they are NOT getting their $ worth as portions are insanely microscopic. My 1st thing I asked my fam was you bought from that same expensive spot with no value again? Truly this time the chicken was like a baby chicken for high pricing! Seriously! Insanity. In the day and age where it has become a luxury to dine out even at casual spots, to not offer any value to customers after a pandemic where 1/2 the world are worse off $wise than pre-pandemic is beyond me. Another Korean chicken place in town and the chicken is totalllllly legit. I've come here almost once a week now because i crave "The Crispy" so much! The service? Awesome people. Lots of flavor, lots of crunch. I've tried: 1) Original Ttobongee 2) Yang Nyum, 4) Soy Garlic... a little more spicy than your normal SG, in my opinion but rly good! 5) Green Onion, 6) Gal-bi- so yummy! tastes like kbbq! 9) The Crispy... by far my FAVORITE! It is the same as Original but fried with magic batter that makes it super delicious & crunchy! I have nothing to complain about the flavors, all are super tasty with a beer on the side. The side food? fried rice isdduk bok gi stick is good, shrimp chips are their added extra appetizer and I love it. So I had no idea this place was even here. It's next to the theaters here in natomas marketplace plaza (across from Walmart). When I walked in, I was welcomed by two smiling workers to my right. I asked them how long have they been opened already, and it has only been a short two weeks. I ordered Maip Dak which is the fried chicken with hot spicy sauce. If you follow my reviews, you know that I love spicy food. This dish had three peppers next to its name so I'm thinking it's spicy. To my disappointment, it's not as spicy as I thought it was for me. Now, I understand everybody has a tolerance when it comes to spicy food so I'm not nicking them for that. I am a little disappointed at how crispy the fried chicken could have been. Maybe the sauce overpowered the crunchiness, I'm not sure. The radish side that it comes with tasted delicious. I also ordered cole slaw and kimchi for obvious reasons (combo of cole slaw and chicken is bomb dot com). The side order prices are a little much for what you get but I'm not tripping over it too much. Last but not least, I can order soju in a bottle to go. Some perks of the pandemic I guess. They have peach, strawberry, and regular from what I can see. They have beer as well but I don't quite remember what type of beers. Aight Sacramentianites! So we got this new Korean Chicken restaurant that opened up in a busy part of Natomas. Let's begin the breakdown: Location: It's located off of the freeway off of 80 (Truxel exit) next to Rubio's. It used to be Wayside Noodle, so it's a small but nice corner. Since it shares a plaza with a bunch of businesses, this place is bound to be poppin more than a teenage boys face during puberty. Inside: It's very clean. Granted, they just opened yesterday, so it's a soft opening. However, It's a simple and clean layout. A few tables lying around, but obviously, no indoor dining since it's still covid. Menu is easy to read and the atmosphere is pretty chill. Service: There were 2 people at the register, both friendly. Staff is super polite, always able to answer questions and they made sure we had everything. When ordering, it was straight, simple and to the point. Easy transaction. The wait time was good as well. They made sure our food was secure and was friendly when we left. Food: So for the first one, I wanted to test out the Soy & Garlic Chicken (mainly because it's what I would get at a different restaurant and I wanted to compare it). First off, it was cooked well, fresh out the kitchen. Each bite was juicy and full of flavor. It had a kick to it. Not a major kick as if from a Major League Soccer player, but a kick from a 4th grade bully. The tiny garlic chips that was cooked was a welcome addition. Had that and a side of freshly made rice to complete the meal. Overall, the meal was fantastic! Overall: Since it's its soft opening, I am looking forward to seeing how the food is once they are fully opened. Here are the reasons why I'm only giving 3 stars. 1. *CON*As you can see from the pictures I posted, the drumsticks were almost as small as a drumlette. In no way that is a regular drumstick size. Bonchon's or Vons chicken are much bigger than this. 2. *CON* The taste of the soygarlic was alright, not as good as Bonchon. 3. *PROS* The customer service was great. The server/cashier were very understanding of my surprised reaction when I saw the drumstick to be that TINY. I ordered half and half, half soy garlic half original of 8 drumsticks. I thought by reducing the amount of pieces it will be a good portion size, but I should have just chose the 12pcs option which was 10 wings and 2 drumsticks. So they changed it for me. I really appreciated that. 4. *PROS* I like the salt seasoning they gave out. I think they add it for the original fried chicken. Plus the finger gloves was useful to not get your hands dirty and not get your hands sweaty unlike a regular plastic glove. *OVERALL* Price is quite expensive for the quantity and quality of the chicken.
