Our second visit to the Tupelo Honey restaurants, first in Asheville and this visit now in Myrtle Beach. We opted for Tupelo to grab some Brunch before heading back home. So far they are 2/2 for our visits. Both times have had great food and great service. This time one of the breakfast bowls was calling my name! The bacon and sausage scramble was a perfect combo of fluffy eggs and savory bacon and sausage goodness paired with the green tomato aioli drizzle I was ready for seconds! The biscuits for a cause are a great starter to the meal as well, nice fluffy and buttery biscuits with an impeccable blueberry jam to spread on top. Tupelo has yet to disappoint us and will keep us coming back for more! read more

Kiss my grits! Great spot for brunch- super friendly service and lots of space for our large party to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. So glad that Yelp helped us find this great restaurant to help us celebrate a birthday dinner while traveling! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food was delicious, service was so attentive, and it was a perfect night for outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with the fried okra appetizer and the biscuits with sweet butter and blueberry jam. Both were phenomenal. Okra was crunchy and spicy and the blueberry jam had whole blueberries. My husband had the meatloaf with collard greens and onion rings sides and I had the spicy chicken and waffles. Both dishes were delicious and I would recommend both. I also had a side of fried Brussels sprouts which were pretty good, not to die for though. The highlight was my husband's flight of old-fashioneds which he ordered for his birthday. He was thrilled! I had the peach/pineapple sangria which was really tasty, I just wish it was a little larger. The staff were so pleasant, especially the front manager and our server. They had great personalities. I wish I remembered our server's name but she had blonde hair and said she had been there for 4 years. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The setting was just lovely, in a picturesque neighborhood. The wood table feels tacky here from whatever is being used to clean them. Menu items here look intriguing. They have a 4 fan system that work together with the belt operating to run each of them. Started off with the biscuits for a cause, lavender limeade fizz, avocado chicken with a fried egg, picnic chicken salad sandwich with an added fried egg well done and an upgrade to the side of Appalachian salad $(2). The lavender limeade fizz is slightly tart from the limeade and I get a slight taste of the lavender, but it's not overwhelming and quite subtle. It's not bad. The biscuits are warm, nice. They are dry, quite dry. You definitely need the blueberry compote to get it down. It has a nice crust on the outside and golden coloring, just makes me thirsty. I think the butter should be placed in it's one ramekin. The avocado chicken with the fried egg is yummy, nice and crispy outside of the chicken, creamy smoothness from the avocado. The picnic chicken salad on the potato bun with the fried egg is quite good. The chicken is generously piled and it's also flavorful. The Appalachian salad is quite tasty, so glad I tried it out. Nice tartness from the blueberries and a bit of sweetness from the candied pecans. read more

Stopped here in a whim, definitely worth the trip. Took a bit longer than expected for the food; but it did NOT disappoint!! Some of the best food we have tried here. Ordered the kids blueberry waffles; it was larger than expected. (Order half if they are a picky eater). Also had the Lemon Garden Party salad with grilled chicken, Amazing; side of brussel sprouts, very well seasoned. Only had salt and pepper, but neither was overpowering. Ordered the sweet and spicy chicken, some of the best chicken we have had. You could cut the meet with a fork! Sides were greens and the goat cheese grits. Will definitely return. I think this is one of my favorite places in Myrtle Beach. One time we came and sat outside - the margaritas were great and very inexpensive ($7 I believe). The second time I came here we sat inside and ordered dinner - the service was great and the food was very tasty. The fried pickles came with a delightful buttermilk ranch dressing that was incredible and my sandwich was excellent. I love how you get to choose your side. Can't go wrong with mac n cheese - ever! We also got a side of their biscuits - which we were all a fan of. Our waiter was a younger, very good looking guy, very very pleasant and cheerful. It's hard to find amazing food in Myrtle Beach - but this spot is a definite crowd pleaser! read more

Before going I read a review where someone stated it was the best breakfast in their life. You know what? That reviewer wasn't far off. So I stopped in for brunch on my way out of town and I'm so glad I did. They take reservations - yay! They were super accommodating to my party of 10 (including 3 kids under 5). Service was great for such a big party. The food came out fast and hot. I ordered the sriracha chicken and waffles. My server told me it was spicy. I said - ok yeah (I like spice and usually when someone tells me this I end up asking for extra hot sauce). Well....the server was right. It was VERY spicy. I liked it a lot, but wish I had ordered something to cool it down. Biscuits were a hit with everyone. Other big hits with my family - the breakfast bowl, the chicken sandwich, and the blueberry waffles. This place was picked as an alternative to the ordinary breakfast establishment. We wasn't disappointed. We ordered shrimp and grits, classic chicken and waffles and the old school breakfast bowl. While we waited on our food, we asked our server, Denise , about bread. She suggested their biscuits. We ordered biscuits and wow, they are huge and very tasty. Very, very good. My wife had the shrimp and grits but because of her heart condition, we have to watch her sodium content. It was a couple of salt shaker shakes from being too much for her. I decided to order the chicken and waffles and put the shrimp and grits in a to-go box for me. Coffee was good, don't know if it was worth $3.65 but what can I say. Good food read more

Chef review: Easy on street or lot parking, easy to find but there are steps directly in front of access to restaurant. Had dinner on a weeknight so it was not extremely busy. When asking our waitress if there was any specials, we were told no. No mention of her favorite items on the menu. The food was not bad but was NOTHING to write home about. The server asked us many, many times if we were ready to pay the bill. It wasn't crowded, the table didn't need turned over. If she was leaving for the day the tip would have been waiting for her. I loved this place for fried chicken, no longer. We've been living here for the past few years and bring all our visiting friends there for Fried chicken and waffles everyone loved it. My wife and I always had their hot a spicy chicken which wasn't coated but deep fried till crisp and dipped in the Sriracha honey sauce. When we were done there was NOTHING left on the bone. Well we were there with my Wife's mom visiting from up north. She wanted to go to her favorite place here, you guessed it Tupelo Honey. When I looked at my Sriracha chicken, it was totally different bread coated fried with just a dab of the sauce. You couldn't taste the sauce there was so little. A few days later my niece was visiting from Denver. She works at TH there and I asked if they changed the recipe and she nailed how they make it now added she didn't like it. Well TH, chalk two ex-customers. We'll never be back! read more

As a foodie, I have to say, this is not a foodie place, from 2 different flavors of fried chicken, cauliflower bites, bean soup, shishito pepper, pasta, and cocktails we ordered, none of us liked what we ordered....so sad. Very disappointed, given the restaurant looks modern and fancy. All fried items fried in thick batter, with a typical bar quality foods sauce added on the outside, tasted awful . Felt like just eating the batter. Cocktails came in small glasses, looks fancy, but don't taste fancy, can barely taste much alcohol in them. This place is all about location and a casual dining experience. The service was excellent, and our server was amiable and attentive. The food was good, just a tad underseasoned for me. We loved this pleasant little area, and Tupelo Honey was a nice spot to dine outside on a warm night. I'm normally not a fan of Southern food for the masses (they're part of a chain afterall), but the food, ambiance, and service here were all pretty good. We had the shrimp linguine, fried chicken, and some wonderful brussels sprouts. NO complaints here. The food was the highlight, just as it should be. Full-throated recommendation here. This was just an average at best dinner. We were there with a larger party but only one person loved their meal. I also did horrible taking pictures. I loved the biscuits but I was the only one. Everyone else thought they were to doughy. I had the classic chicken and waffles, and I loved the waffles...so fluffy...but the chicken was just average. My husband had the spicy chicken and waffles. He did like it but in the end the sauce was just too hot to enjoy. My dad did absolutely love his shrimp and grits. Sadly, this might be our last time here. read more

Food was 5*. Meatloaf has a different flavor than you typically get but in a good way. Mac and cheese was about as good as mac and cheese gets. Was a bit pricy but quality backed up the price. Shrimp and grits were also incredibly good. Restaurant is very nice looking and clean. Located in a nice area with great ambiance. Staff was accommodating to my wife and I as I am vulnerable to COVID and let us pick a booth of our choosing. Staff wasn't super social but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We went to the restaurant for it's name since we had recently visited Congaree national park and learned what a Tupelo was. The staff was friendly and sassy. She was just fantastic. The food was delicious. This was the first time I've tried Fried Green Tomatoes and I can't wait to get them again. We had also tried the Parmesan & Rosemary Potato Cracklins, the Brussels sprouts and we shared For the Love of Cobb salad. I had the Kiss of Lavender Lemonade. I highly recommend it. My friend had the Bloody Mary and she also enjoyed it. When I'm in the area again, I do plan to come back and try more things. read more

The service and ambiance was great, the food was ok. I didn't go for what the place is known so that's where I went wrong. I had the southern chicken BLT and my chicken was not flavorful. It was a basic chicken breast. My daughter had the breakfast bowl and she didn't care for the sunny side eggs and the bacon was a little bitter for her liking. The tables were sticky and the server was rude when I mentioned it. Overall, she was absent and dismissive, which was surprising since restaurant was virtually empty. The food options were limited since they had no dark meat. For a place that specializes in fried chicken, I found this odd. It definitely ruined my plans for my meal. Our food looked good but was cold when it came out. Brussels sprouts were beyond crispy, they were mostly burnt and the burned taste overwhelmed them. It says something when I can't finish Brussels sprouts. Although I put in that it was my husband's birthday (40th), there was no acknowledgement. I wasn't happy with any aspect of the experience and would not return. read more

Late lunch upon arrival in Myrtle Beach so we stopped in to eat at Tupelo located in the Marketplace about 10 minutes from the airport. Service and food were very good. Tried a shrimp po' boy and grits with goat cheese. Delicious! Shrimp fried perfectly and the bread had just right chew to hold the sandwich together. Grits were tender and creamy with nice tang from goat cheese. Large portions, reasonable prices so it will definitely be on our return visit list of restaurants in the area! read more

This is our third different Tupelo Honey we have visited and it was just as good as the other two. My wife ordered her usual shrimp and grits and I ordered the honey chicken. The wife was very happy with her meal and said both the shrimp and the grits were well prepared and left her wanting more even though she was full. My chicken was cooked to perfection as well with both pieces coming out with a crispy skin and a juicy center. We did wait longer than we have in the past for our food, but we didn't mind because we understand the challenges businesses are having filling their staffing needs. Plus, the food was worth the wait. One last shout out to the manager who was making the rounds to ensure everyone was well taken care of. We arrived around 10am on a rainy Saturday and were immediate seated and greeted by our waitress Alissa (sp?) who was warm and welcoming. My husband got the bacon & sausage scramble which he devoured and I got the classic chicken and waffles with the blueberry lemonade mimosa. Everything arrived within 10 minutes and was delicious with a dash of salt added. One of my chicken pieces was cold and Alissa jumped right in to get me a fresh piece which arrived within 5 minutes. While we were waiting, the bartender asked where we were from. We told her Southern Maryland, and when I said Huntingtown, she immediately said, "That's where I'm from." That alone surprised us not many people even know where Huntingtown is. When we mentioned the road we live on, she said, "That's the road I turn on to my parents' house." When he came back, he explained it was his own version of his mother's soup. We told him it would go perfectly with a gooey grilled cheese, and he laughed and said they actually have one on the menu. Their appetisers looked awesome however, this is an "Old World" Italian restaurant that offered their minestrone soup, and their Caesar salad which came with our meals, was very tasty, and paired very well with the bottle of wine from their varied, and well selected wine list, which we all shared. First, I read some of Villa Romania's great reviews on Yelp, before making a reservation, most especially, because I did not want anyone to have to repeat "THE LONG Lines" at our Fried Fish Palace, lol experience from two nights earlier. All of our entrees pictured below, were savoy, aroma enticing, tastebud thrilling, flavor forward, and exceeded all our sensory expectations which helped us all unwind while really enjoying our evening out together as it unexpectedly, evolved into an event for us all. While all their deserts sounded wonderful we were all completely full. But on our next visit, tiramisu, ice cream, and cannolis for all. So it's expensive, right? That is a great question Poindexter, but wrongo, my parsimonious friend. It was again, surprisingly affordable, and "I shall return" as General Douglas MacArthur once said. Why? Because sometimes you just can't find what will work for everyone, and that feels and tastes, just right. That's it! That is Villa Romana Restaurant, and we all were so gleeful and happy we discovered that fact in our visit to Myrtle Beach, SC. Manga... Enjoy!

We visited this restaurant last Friday for my mother's birthday. I honestly was so excited to visit this restaurant because I had been to the Asheville location several years ago and it was fantastic. I was not however, impressed with the new location at Myrtle Beach. I'll start with what was good: Our waitress was excellent! You could truly tell she enjoyed her job. The online reservations were a breeze and we were seated in no time with a full house upon our arrival. Now I'll discuss the not so good: The wait time for our drinks was incredibly slow. The restaurant was so loud that we could not hear each other talk or hear what the waitress was saying. The interior is pretty, but I think they need to figure out something to buffer all of the noise. My mother really wanted mac and cheese but was so disappointed to find out that it would be too spicy for her to eat. I ordered the mac and cheese and I found it to be WAAAY to spicy too and I like spicy foods. It was just unnecessary to put that much red pepper in "southern mac and cheese". She really couldn't eat any of the sides or the food on the menu because the restaurant apparently just dumps red pepper on everything. She had to go with the shrimp without the sauce and the shrimp were also sub-par. The dish she ordered cost a lot and she got 4-5 measly tiny shrimp that looked like salad shrimp. They may want to think about adding options to the menu that don't include red pepper on everything because there are a lot of people out there that can't eat that or don't like it dumped on their food. It almost seems like they are trying too hard to make the food different, remember, simple and classic can still be good. My dad ordered the "southern fried chicken" but this was not good either. The chicken was so dry he could barely cut it with a knife. It also had the texture of pressed chicken, kind of like you would get at McDonalds and the portion size was also not worth the expensive price paid. The manager did make his way over and we told him our complaints and he asked if there was anything he could do to "make it right". We asked for dessert, since it was my mother's birthday and he said he would send over a pecan pie and banana pudding for the table to share. We were expecting to not be charged for those items, yet it still appeared on our bill. And the last thing we noticed on the bill was a "pour charge" for our drinks!! We were not told by anyone that there would be an extra charge to pour an alcoholic drink, otherwise, we probably wouldn't have ordered cocktails. That, I thought, was very deceiving and sneaky on the restaurant's part. My husband used to bartend and has NEVER heard of adding a "pour charge" and he worked in New York City. My husband and I live in Myrtle Beach now and were very excited to hear about their opening, but our experience on Friday was so disappointing that I don't think that we will be back. It seems overpriced for the food that you get and I was so sad that my mother had such a bad meal on her birthday. I called this restaurant on my way there to see if they could accommodate two in ten minutes and i was told to come on in that it was a slow night. I arrived ten minutes later and was seated right away. I was told my server couldn't be found at the moment and a young man took my drink order. Fifteen minutes later still no drinks on the table nor setting or plates absolutely nothing yet i told my wife well give them a shot. Another man approached us asking if we had our order taken and we responded no and that we ordered drinks but never got them. So we ordered with him. Yet another 5 mins go by and we received our drinks still with no setting on our table. Fifteen minutes later we received our apps of ribs that were so dry that i couldn't even eat them they must have been under a heat lamp for many hours. But yet i still didn't complain. We waited 30 mins for our entrees to come out during this period of time we were completely ignored by our server. When our entrees were served i was told my steak was over cooked and i would receive another in a few minutes. That wasn't even the problem the problem was that my dish had fried miscellaneous items in it and the grubs of the bottom of a dirty frier basket. My wifes meal was the braised short rib over mashed potatoes absolutely terrible dry dry dry and carrots that were never cooked hard as bricks. When I receive my second steak not only was it undercooked there was a nerve in it so thick you couldn't cut it. Ive never in my life have had such a terrible experience at a restaurant and too top it all off i was charged for a mac and cheese that i did not receive instead of complaining i paid my bill and left in a hurry. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I am not one to complain but this was just insane. Very unhappy and they ruined my night out with my wife. read more

We.LOVE.this.restaurant! We usually go for brunch on the weekend and, since we live in Myrtle Beach, we can go any time! We went for lunch today. The restaurant seemed a little slow (maybe because school just started?) so we got a table immediately and started trying to make a decision. Their seasonal menu --an homage to state fair food--was interesting, but I had been looking forward to the peach pulled pork flatbread. We had the most delicious fried pickles at our servers suggestion, and the flatbread I ordered was just delicious. My lunch date ordered a grilled chicken sandwich for a change from the usual order of fried chicken--the best ever fried chicken, btw! Lunch was amazing but even more impressive was the service!! Nichols was our server--a friendly, helpful, cutie pie--and she was excellent. Perfectly fit their hipster, cool kid vibe, which was a treat. And the bartender was also exceptional; Lindsey went out of her way to be friendly and helpful, too! Hey management, these two deserve a big raise!! We live this place! Food, service, vibe are all wonderful. The only complaint I have is that I always eat to much--who can resist those homemade biscuits and blueberry jam. FIVE THUMBS DOWN! Tupelo Honey advertises as SOUTHERN AMERICAN. What a JOKE! The food was as far from Southern cooking as it could be and as bad as a man could stand . A complete Farce and Fake as Southern Cuisine. As a South Carolina born Southern Man, for this restaurant to mention Southern about it's menu is a disgrace . The wait staff was terrible in my opinion . Tupelo Honey might be able to fool some , but not a true sophisticated southerner. This food is as far from Southern American Cuisine as it can be. I give this restaurant FIVE THUMBS DOWN, because it doesn't even deserve a star. CRAPPY FOOD and bad service! I believe it is a disgrace that Tupelo Honey tries to pose as a place for Southern Cuisine. This is a slap in the face of true Southern cooking . Unless you go there to drink all those extremely bitter craft beers and get drunk on booze, then you might be able to stand the food. Collards were overcooked , the Brussell Sprouts were burnt, the trout was barely passable, the fried chicken was atrocious, green beans bad, the biscuits even worst. ALL IN ALL, I BELIEVE TUPELO HONEY MAY BE THE WORST PLACE THAT I EVER BEEN, EVER! Would not recommend Tupelo Honey to anybody. Just another Chain Restaurant pretender. read more

Well for starter this is my first time coming in here, and we waited an hour and a half to get a table for 2. I understand that this restaurant just opened and it's gonna be busy but I was willing to wait and try it out. Once we got seated we decided on what we wanted and once we told the waiter she told us they were out of macaroni and cheese, so this messed up our entire order. So we looked back through the menu and found something else, we go and order regular fries as a side since they were out of our first choice and they were once again out of something else. Obviously you know that your gonna be busy considering you've still only been open for not even a whole week. I also ordered sweet tea and I barley get any ice, after a while of it sitting there the ice melted, I was expecting to get ice once I got a refill but no, my drink was hot.. Plus slow service. Once the food arrived it looked good and tasted good. I give this restaurant one star because overall experience wasn't that great but food was pretty good. read more

I heard great things about the Asheville location before the one in Myrtle Beach opened, but it has taken me this long to check it out. First of all, don't pass on the biscuits. I almost skipped in the interest of 'saving my carbs', but boy oh boy I am so glad I did not! Brunch today was perfect. I had the Moonswine Mary...best Bloody Mary I've ever had. I also went with the sweet potato pancake with fried chicken. It was incredible. Couldn't finish it though because of how huge the portion was. My husband had shrimp and grits, which were great. We loved that they added goat cheese to the grits. We both really enjoyed the pre-meal biscuits with blueberry jam and honey. Service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and we had a couple of different people (I'm assuming management) come by to check on us. I highly recommend showing up at 9am (opening time) if you don't want a brunch wait. read more

First tried this restaurant in Greenville. Service was so bad I thought that was the end. But alas, they opened at the beach and I loved the old Tommy Bahama atmosphere and was anxious to try Tupelo again. The first time we just had appetizers, the wontons and bbq egg rolls.They were different and and lightly fried. The flavors mingled well together. The second time I can't remember my entree because my friends was so delish - it was the veggie melt - with roasted red peppers and havarti cheese and mix of other vegetables. I had the sweet potato fries as well. The 3rd time It wasn't on the menu, I asked our waitress about it and she kindly asked the kitchen and they made it, very very good. My husband and I are professional happy hour patrons. We have both been servers 21 years ago at Cagneys and Flamingo Grille and enjoy a bar environment over table service. In addition... We are regular patrons of the Asheville establishment. Our visit to the Market Commons venue was great but different at the same time. The experience was definitely enhanced by our waitress... Ricole Lewis... an extremely knowledgeable... attentive... server. Her recommendations were on point... My glass was never empty...and she seemed to enjoy being there and seemed committed to making our experience the best it could be. Our first visit to the new tupelo honey café in myrtle beach, sc. and it was a great experience. All the staff there were friendly and helpful. We only had to wait about 10 minutes before we were seated. Our server, Caitlin was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were great. My husband and I had the wontons filled with pimento cheese and country ham. It was delicious. We both ordered the fried chicken blt with pimento cheese. He had sweet potatoes and I had mashed cauliflower and cheese, which we both enjoyed. My partner and I had dinner at Tupelo Honey's on Friday, January 26. It was fabulous ... we had a beet salid, Brussel sprouts for appetizer, pork dinner and shrimp & grits for the main course, and peanut butter and berry desserts. Oh, I forgot the biscuits. They were warm and tasty. All of the food was deliciously paired with a variety of red wines. In addition, I would be remiss if I did not compliment the professional and friendly service by Rose. We went with a few friends and was a little disappointed because we had a reservation at 8:15 and we didn't get seated until around 9:15 or so. Once we got seated it took a while for everything to come out. We didn't get our food until 10:45. Which honestly... is a long time. I understand that the restaurant is fairly new but when we're told that we were going to be comp'd chips and dip and then when we got the ticket..we had to pay for it. What I can say. Is that the food was fantastic..war it with the wait? Not so sure. read more

Most amazing food! Tupelo Honey is such a pleasure to have in Market Commons. I have eaten there 2 nights in a row. Our bartender Brennan came out and took care of us even though we grew in size and had to move to a cocktail table. He also stopped by our table to make sure everything was superb last night along with several of the managers. I will for sure be back and will also be telling everyone I know how much of a great restaurant Tupelo Honey is. Great service! Great food! Great atmosphere! No complaints here! read more

Great Sandwiches! I went with my family for dinner and 7 of the 8 of us ordered one of the sandwiches on the menu. I ordered the fried tomato blt with a side of ranch and their wicked sauce that added a hint of spice. Every bite I took of that sandwich was delightful. The apple cider bacon was cooked perfectly with the right amount of crisp that added a nice crunch to the sandwich. Went to Tupelo Honey this past weekend with our friends. We had a wonderful experience. My friend and I are both pregnant and could not drink alcohol, our waitress Rose was very helpful and pointed us in the direction of their non-alcoholic homemade lemonades. They were absolutely delicious. Because we were visiting with friends, Rose let us take our time and enjoy each others company and did not rush us to make any decisions. Went here for dinner with friends on a reunion weekend. This food was great and the service was seriously among the best I've had at any restaurant. Our waitress, Carlie, was fantastic. She made really helpful suggestions about what to order, but wasn't too pushy. The food was delicious and creative, as were the cocktails. The biscuits practically melted in our mouths. We recently celebrated my sisters bachelorette party at Tupelo Honey cafe, in their Special events room. The entire process was absolutely perfect. Scheduling the event was so easy, Rachel made sure to answer all my questions and was sooo helpful. Everyone LOVED the food and drink selections! Just had lunch at Tupelo Honey Cafe and it was wonderful. Our server, Tamera, was bubbly and very helpful in making our selections. The Goat cheese appetizer gets high marks. Our sandwiches were tasty true southern cuisine at its best. Topping off our delicious lunch were pecan pie and banana pudding, well worth the calories. I and my girlfriend were invited today to a soft opening event here. As you can imagine with on-the-house entrees the place filled quickly. The kitchen and waitstaff were obviously working out the kinks. Our waitress Nico was very attentive, apologetic, and personable. It's actually $3 - charge $1.50 for each item. Then a credit card charge on top. The excuse? New owner. Menu isn't updated yet, but charges are in the register. That's illegal. Use a pen if you have to. I didn't know, but now you do.
