Hands down my favorite place for breakfast food. The servers here are so friendly and the food is on point every time. I definitely would recommend the big easy benedict with cornbread, i enjoyed every bite! They do put a lot of green peppers in this dish so if you're not a big fan, ask for less or without them. I'm a little shocked that I haven't yet reviewed Turning Point, considering that I've come here a few times at this point already. IMO, this is the best place for breakfast/brunch in the Central Jersey region. A big selling point for this place is the fact that everything is "farm fresh", which they are not afraid of advertising, and is apparent in every bite! So far, I've tried the grande heuvos rancheros, classic eggs benedict, and the grand french toast. All 3 dishes were superb, if I had to choose the best, it would be the heuvos rancheros. Turning Point is also a great place for beverages. They offer regular or french press coffee, and a great variety of smoothies and other drinks. In addition, they have a pretty extensive lunch menu, which I have yet to sample. For those living in the region (or nearby one of their other locations), you should definitely try Turning Point! read more

Food was good, but the service was absolutely horrible. The staff was pretty rude and clueless. We get there and are told the wait would be 25-30 minutes. It ended up being 1.5 hours with no communication to us. We also saw parties for 2 (same party size as us) putting their name down after we did. They were seated before us?!?? Avocado toast was great. The willbur skillet and eggs benedetto were also good. The portion sizes are quite large and worth the price, as well. But when we were eating, the hostess that took our name down was cleaning up the table. She was holding a full coffee pot that ended up spilling on the floor and also on one of the customers. He was, understandably, visibly annoyed. She looked back 5 times and was like "oh shit". I thought she would come back, apologize, and clean it up. Nope. 3 minutes went and she went back to taking names down. Didn't tell anyone she spilled. I ended up telling another waitress what happened and she immediately cleaned it up. Just apalling. How are you on a restaurant staff and leave that spill on the floor?! Especially in an area of the restaurant where people are frequently walking back and forth. I can't express what a great experience we had having brunch at Turning Point today. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. My friend has a tiny support dog that weighs 10 ibs and has paperwork. A nasty customer had something to say but the hostess handled it in a very professional manner. She made us feel welcome. Our server was so polite and accommodating. He was very patient. We spoke to the manager,Melissa. Talking to her was a pleasure. Now I understand why the staff is so excellent. Just had a great breakfast. I've heard good things about this place but I generally don't like to wait and this place is usually pretty busy which I guess is a sign of a good place. I decided to take my wife and daughter out to breakfast for my wife's birthday. I had the Big Easy Benedict which is Cornbread topped with avocado, Creole seasoned onion, peppers, & chorizo. Topped with poached eggs and Cajun hollandaise. Wow!!! It tasted great. I really liked it because it was something I never had before. I eat eggs Benedict all the time but this was different. My wife had the Salted Caramel Waffle which also tasted great and my daughter had Avocado toast with over easy eggs on top. Got to give it up for consistency. My mom loves this place and whenever she comes to visit back home she always wants to go here. The place can get packed but they always deliver in terms of food and service. There really isn't much that isn't good, and everything seems to be or feel healthier even if it may not. This is one of the better diners in the area. It's sort of on the pricier side when it comes to diners but the meals are well worth it. Expect to wait when you arrive because the place is always busy. I ordered the Wilbur skillet, it had avocados, potatoes, tomatoes, cheese, bacon and your choice of 2 eggs which I got scrambled. This work of art, dressed in a coat of Nutella sauce and garlands of strawberries, had a delightful crunch and char on the outside but the moistness of banana bread within and some gooey pockets like French toast. We also had the "Huevos Rancheros Grandes" and a seafood hash. Although both dishes lacked a bit of spice, they were cooked very well. Perfect amounts of cheese melted throughout the fresh ingredients, and just the right amount of grease without being overwhelming. Finally, had one of their signature iced beverages. It was essentially a coffee flavored milkshake, and man did it hit the spot. I loveeee the turning point in manalapan. I would describe it as a little more upscale than your average breakfast / brunch restaurant. This place is always crowded and be prepared to wait on a Sunday or saturday morning! They take call ahead seating which is a nice feature, but no reservations. I have been here MANY times and have had the tuna melt, bananas foster, and bacche banne toast which are all delicious. They no longer serve the bache banne toast on the menu but I have still ordered it anyway for the past 2 + years and they always make it without question! My favorite brunch place! I have been coming to this turning point for years and I am never disappointed! The service and food is always of highest quality! Some of my favorites are the huevos rancheros and Popeyes skillet and they always customize it the way I like it! They also have an extensive coffee and tea menu with something for everyone! They have multiple locations in every area of NJ and one in PA it is definitely worth the trip! There is usually a wait during the weekends and most week days when the weather gets nice. My family and I have been going to Turning Point locations for years and this was by far my worst experience! From simple things like water not being ready on the table or seeing a server for almost ten minutes after we sat, to one of our meals missing, all soda flavors off, missing ingredients in entrees, and undercooked potato's! I went to take my mom out for Mother's Day on the Friday beforehand. She is in a wheelchair and I dropped her off at the door then parked my car. When I returned to the restaurant They already brought her to a table for me. That was such a huge help and a thoughtful thing for them to do. Mom always enjoys breakfast so she ordered traditional eggs easy over with potatoes English muffin and a side of bacon. I ordered the Chicken Pesto Panini on a ciabatta roll. It was delicious. I ordered the house Expresso specialty shake to go. It felt so much better to drink the ice cream with expresso that all those other coffee drinks out there. First time here they had a little bit of a wait but in the end it was worth it. The coffee they serve is in a pot which is awesome and freshly brewed so you don't even have to bother for refills. My mom has been telling me about this place for some time now so we finally checked it out. They take call ahead seating which I highly recommend you do. We called about 20 mins before we got there and were seated within 5 mins of arriving. People who walked in behind us were given 30-40 wait times....if you do have to wait, worth it. The menu had breakfast and lunch options. My sister had waffles which were cooked perfectly. I had the combo of the bennies sandwich and split pea and ham soup. The soup was just okay but the sadwich, their take on a ruben, was fantastic!! My dad had the tuna melt which he loved and my mom had the shrimp po boy which she said was really good and was filled with whole shrimp. We also had the hummus plate as an app. The hummus was delicious and fresh. Can't wait to try the one closer to me with friends. read more

I had suggested either Cracker Barrell or IHOP for Sunday brunch, but was overruled in favor of The Turning Point. This place also specializes in breakfast food. While there are some dishes the others do better, for example the "Harvest Grain Pancakes" at IHOP, the menu at The Turning Point had far more choices for me. Service and atmosphere were also better than IHOP or Cracker Barrell, although the attached gift shop/store at Cracker Barrell was a nice touch. Of course, this place is not a chain restaurant and the location was very far from home, but someday we'll be back. It was in a nice suburban mall with plenty of parking, they took a "call ahead," but no reservations, and if you have to wait for a table, there are some booths inside, with more chairs outside, and you can hear when they call your name. read more

Been here a few times for breakfast with the family. Never had an issue with the food or service. It's not your typical breakfast place, more upscale w/ healthier food options. Nice selection to choose from. The pancakes are amazing and as well as their Jamaican Blue specialty coffee. Worth every penny but have to admit, I do wish the pot was a little larger, barely able to get 4 cups of coffee which is not a lot when there are more than 2 people to serve. Service is always impeccable here. I've never had a bad or rude experience with any of the servers. Price is a little on the higher side. I had a crab omelette item off the seasonal menu and it was okay. I think maybe they're trying to be too creative with their combinations which makes it a bit awkward in the end. My dish had crab and some sweet ingredient which made it odd. For my palate, sweet and seafood don't really go together so I didn't really enjoy the dish. My nephews got eggs, pancakes, and waffles seem to really enjoy their breakfast. Maybe stick with the average dishes you know will be good instead of something experimental. read more

This breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurant is decorated very nicely, giving its customers a comfortable and cozy feeling. I received my food rather quickly. I got the Crunchy Monkey Pancakes which were filling but delicious. My friend was extremely pleased with her Berry Chocolaty Pancakes. The only downside was that my portion of pancakes was large, but I was able to get a take home box and save them for later! This restaurant is a must-go! In literature, "the turning point" is the climax, the most exiting part of the plot, but in the world of breakfast and lunch, The Turning Point is just the opposite; unexciting, average, and completely overrated. After complaining to friends about the awful food at the Turning Point location at Pier Village in Long Branch, I was told that I just MUST try the Manalapan location, that it is SO much better. So, as not to wrongly give the Turning Point name a bum rap, I decided to give the Manalapan restaurant a try. I went on a weekend at about 2:30pm, a half hour before they stop accepting customers. It was extremely crowded but the wait wasn't so bad; about 10 minutes. Once we were seated, we were given our menus and our waitress took our drink orders, a fresh squeezed orange juice and a coffee. The waitress kept disappearing, not giving us a chance to place our orders. Finally, when she gave us time to place our orders, I ordered the Florentine Benedict (which I also ordered at the Long Branch location) and my dining companion ordered a Seaside Jersey Club sandwich. First off, if all the crap my mother told me when I was a kid about, "If you swallow a seed, an orange will grow in your belly", was true, my stomach would look like Florida. I've heard of juice with pulp, but with seeds? Hmm. As for the food, there is really nothing to rave about. My dining companionenjoyed his sandwich but I really could not get into my benedict. I honestly believe that Turning Point has something against salt and pepper, as everything was grossly under-seasoned. It was very bland. The potatoes that came on the side were better than the ones from the other Turning Point restaurant but they were still dry, lacking in flavor, and luke warm. WAT WAHHH. I love breakfast and brunch. They truly are the most important meals of the day...although I can eat breakfast food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Maybe even a snack too. I usually go to Turning Point when I visit NJ because it's by the bus stop in Manalapan, and my mom likes it. So, we go. I mean, it's *good* but I feel like I could go to a diner and be better fed for cheaper and it's just as good, if not better. I mean, on weekends, you have a wait anywhere, even at the mall with Cheesecake Factory or PF Chang's. Since this is a "high demand" place, only open till lunch hours, there is always a wait. ALWAYS. Trick is to get there earlier. But I'm coming in from NYC. So I have a contrarian point of view. Everyone loves it here. I go here out of convenience. To the absolute and utter shock of my group made up of friends who also grew up in the area, Sunday was my first visit to Turning Point. Obviously there was a lot of hype around this and I was eager to dive into the interesting menu consisting of my favorite meal group, brunch. I ended up splitting the OMG and Big Easy Benedict with a friend. The OMG is a French Toast dish topped with pumpkin cinnamon mascarpone, pecans, caramel and chopped Virginia bacon. The Big Easy Benedict was cornbread topped with avocado, creole seasoned onions peppers and chorizo. The eggs were poached with cajin hollandaise. The dishes sounded absolutely amazing on paper however ended up falling slightly flat in reality. They were still delicious and we cleaned (both) plates however I was expecting that little something extra with both combos of ingredients. So Turning Point is the place to be for Sunday brunch. It was packed the entire time with a constant group of new people waiting outside and in the front lobby for a table. Despite the full house, our server did a great job making sure everyone got what they needed and taking care of our group of 11. He was very pleasant and patient with us, which is always a plus with a group dining. Just a word to the wise, your group needs to all be present in order to be seated. Even if you call ahead, you'll get bumped back on the list if you aren't there when your name is called. While it wasn't life changing brunch meal and it took a while to be seated, I enjoyed my meal and can definitely see myself going back. read more
