A popular brunch spot amongst locals, we came here in hopes of seriously satisfying food. Atmosphere is incredibly homey with ample seating and an open kitchen. The place was incredibly crowded, but thankfully we were able to nab some bar seats. The food, in my opinion, was nothing spectacular. The tropical crunch waffle was a standard waffle adorned with sweetened granola and tropical fruits. The Santa Fe salad had tender, well seasoned chicken, but was overloaded with cheese. The most exceptional part of the meal was the service. Our waitress was handling the entire bar, but seamlessly wove through our dining process in an efficient, attentive, and friendly manner. Not only delicious food, but the best service! Let me start out by stating that I've been eating at Turning Point throughout NJ for years. However, my first experience eating at TP of Manalapan was one to remember. My friends kidnapped me and brought me here for brunch as a surprise for my birthday. The staff seated us for our reservation right away. They even brought us out orange juice and allowed us to make mimosas with the champagne my friends brought along for me! As always, the food was perfect and I left feeling more than satisfied. The staff had been storing a cheesecake for my friends during our brunch, and later brought it out with candles. The entire staff sang to me for my birthday, and they also helped cut the cake and provided knives/silverware. The team was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could. I've been to this place twice and had no problems with service as some others have had. This place is pretty decent and much better than other chains, like IHOP, for brunch but I feel there are still better brunch places out there! I've had the Wilbur skillet with poached eggs and it was yummy. It comes with an English muffin, which I didn't really care for, and a side of mixed fruit. I also tried the s'mores hot chocolate which I liked but it didn't come with marshmallows on top like I had seen on the Turning Point instagram; it probably varies with location. My boyfriend's go to is the grande huevos rancheros which he enjoys. He has also tried the big easy Benedict and devoured it when it came to the table. You can also bring champagne for mimosas if you'd like. They have both regular orange juice and fresh squeezed orange juice. The service was average; our waitress checked up on us just enough and wasn't overwhelming or rushing us out even though it was busy. Ordered delivery from this place a couple of times. The food is pretty good, but they cannot get the order right. Both times I ordered a Benny with a side of salad, and both times got potatoes instead. Both times I asked for utensils and napkins and got neither. If you order tea, be warned that they put the teabag in the cup at the restaurant, so by the time it gets to you, it's bitter and undrinkable. This place has gone so far down hill. The quality of the food isn't what it used to be and sandwiches that used to be able to feed an adult and keep them full are now the size of a little bite sized kid sandwich. Amazing breakfast options. The portions are huge so I would consider sharing. My party of 4 shared 3 entree items and we were each stuffed afterward. Drinks: The orange juice is freshly squeezed in house, which makes all the difference. Be careful when you order the iced coffee because you have to pour the cream/milk yourself and it's easy to pour too much with the little pitcher they give you. The other coffee selections are really impressive. Think of a bar but for coffee. I got the salted caramel mocha-chino and it was decadent. Breakfast: The eggs options are so varied, so if you're in the mood for something, it's pretty much a guarantee that they have it. My usual spot for Turning Point is in Holmdel, but sometimes I head to Manalapan. The wait here was about 30 minutes for a table of 6 this Saturday morning at 11 AM. The front of house staff was very rude and lazy. I witnessed them having trouble with one of the waiting patrons, and the 2 hostesses were gossipping and being immature and nasty about the patron behind the counter even after the manager had come out to take care of it... wasn't very hard to me to "accidentally overhear" them considering I was standing at the counter with no room to stand elsewhere with all the other people waiting by the door as well. Not very professional... My favorite at Turning Point (and all I've ever gotten for 4-5 years... SERIOUSLY) is the Fruity Chicken Salad (and nothing else, EVER), but today for the first time, I tried the Wilbur Skillet by the recommendation of a friend. It's crushed bacon, potatoes, avocado, tomato, eggs (prepared your way), and cheese. Our waitress was SO kind and hospitable. She was extremely sweet and attentive and ready to serve. I wish I got her name just to compliment her here on Yelp. Anyways, I ordered my eggs to be scrambled, but they came out poached. When she came back to ask how we were doing, I asked her if I could get my eggs re-done scrambled. She deeply apologized and immediately ran back to the kitchen. 5 minutes later, the manager came out with an entire new Wilbur Skillet, and a box to take it home knowing I probably wouldn't be able to finish it. They apologized and made sure I was a happy diner. I was blown away by how hard-working the waitress and manager were. I even said to my brother next to me, "That girl is really working for her tip!" And he said, "That's really refreshing to see nowadays... people actually working hard at their job." It was REFRESHING! Though the front of the house staff was unfriendly, my waitress and the manager were incredible. They didn't rush us even though it was a very busy afternoon as well. In fact, I wanted to rush the parents who were leisurely chatting. I don't know how much our party tipped the waitress, given that my family friends paid without letting us peek at the bill, but I wished that I had brought my wallet myself to express how grateful I was to our waitress being so kind, bright, and diligent. I recommend this place for the wonderful serving and managing staff, and DELICIOUS food. Just ignore the waiting experience at the front hahaha. You can't go wrong with one of their 18 locations! We ate at the one in Manalapan this time & it didn't disappoint! We ordered the chocolate shake & Nor'easter hot chocolate...both were amazing! For actual brunch, we had the GOAT omelette, the Popeye skillet, S'mores waffles, French toast & the Reese's peanut butter pancakes (my favorite)... all were absolutely delicious! We even took home some waffles and pancakes for bfast the next morning! They were just as good the next day! Our waitress was lovely and so attentive. We love that they have a fireplace room too! The Turning Point is a pretty awesome place but its far too crowded. The fact we went on Mother's Day didn't help. Not sure what all the fuss is about. I've been to the Westfield location, and now Manalapan, and I'm not overly impressed. Today we were part of a large group which had reserved the side room for a party. That would have been great except that one table in the center of the room was still occupied by a couple of people well past the 10:30 reservation time, and people had to stand until they left and the tables could be rearranged. Seating was tight, too, and difficult for many to maneuver to get to the bathroom. No, I'm not talking about larger people, even the kids had trouble. I've been to a lot of brunch places, as well as a lot of diners, and while the food here is good I think it's pricey. If I'm ordering eggs, I'd like a side of pancakes, not a complete order. At a diner, you can get that add on. In most brunch places, you can do that. Not here. So, do I order the pancakes or do I order the eggs? Today I had the stuffed french toast, which was heavy on the blueberry but not on the other fruit flavors. It was good but because it was french toast, it had no sides with it. I think a cup of fruit or something would have added to the experience, especially at that price. My husband had a breakfast burrito. The side potatoes were excellent, but the burrito was a bit dry. However, he did enjoy the flavor. One of the people seated next to me had the lobster eggs benedict. It looked good and she said she enjoyed it but was surprised by the lack of lobster in it. She, did, however, say it was good and she also enjoyed the side of potatoes. Service was spotty, probably due to the size of our group (20+) and refills of tea/coffee/etc didn't make it down to our direction. I noticed the servers stayed in contact more with the people at the heads of the two rows of tables. Definitely ok, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again. This place is so cute. It feels like you're eating brunch in someone's living room. My waitress was super attentive and sweet and my breakfast combo was delicious. My friend got a delicious French toast latte. The only thing that bothered me was someone who seemed like the manager yelling at her staff multiple times when they were closing up and it sounded like she was talking to them like they were dogs. "Staff, staff, staff HELLO? why is there so much dead food up here. Is anyone going to answer me? No?"
