Stopped by this restaurant for a little snack while out and about. Only had the cold tapas combo with the humus and baba ghanoush for $11 which also came with bread and crackers that were still warm! Both were really good and just enough for a lunch time snack. We ate our tapas with refreshing iced black and green teas. The ambiance is very nice and they have a nice patio area where you can sit, enjoy the sun and people-watch. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. I can't comment on the other food since I didn't eat anything else but the panini that the table next to us was eating looked really good. read more

Love this little place! The service is always great, super friendly. They deserve the full 20% gratuity! I love the spot outside by the window, with the two big chairs and the small coffee table. This time I ate the vegan "Tofu Kabobs". It comes with a side of rice, broccoli and grilled vegetables (delicious!). It's a big plate and the picture doesn't show it, but it is TOO MUCH food to finish, so be ready to take half of it home! Mediterranean's gone ORGANIC!!! Turquoise had their grand opening in November of 2008 after the owner, Hameed Fatemi, completed his thorough research to compile an exquisite menu. And let me say, you must dine here for some good eatz. I tried the Persian Nectar tea my 1st visit, it was so clean and light, I must say it cleansed the soul, haha. I decided to take my South Bay Eatz dining group(www.meetup.com/southbayeatz/) to kickoff 2009 by going green and had our 1st dinner at Turquoise. Dinner started with a glass ;O) of Fume Blanc and the sampler consisting of Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Paneer-O-Sabzi,.. and organic bread and crackers. I have to tell ya, what a way to "break bread" :OP, you're on auto pilot once you have it in front of you and can't stop the dipping. Every entree comes with the house salad. I ordered Sturgeon Fish which is a signature dish at Turquoise. Light, spongy, without the fishy odor and texture, it was delicious!!! And being the foOdiE I am, I had to try everyone else's dish and sampled the beef kabob, organic tofu(another signature dish), and chicken kabob. Turquoise also serves other dishes such as lamb kabobs and the Saucy Halibut which I must try next visit. We didn't stop there, ever have organic dessert? We ordered the strawberry, cookies & cream, and vanilla ice cream and creme brulee. Sounds plain and common huh? Remember, it's organic. The ice cream had a spongy and whipped texture which was extremely light but satisfied the craving of any ice cream fanatic and anyone with a sweet tooth. To wash down the crume brulee and ice cream, we enjoyed several cups of Fiji & organic green tea. Teas such as organic green and Persian Nectar contain a lot of caffeine so it is highly recommended especially if you need to drive home after having some wine or you need to continue into the night with more food and fun. The Fiji tea does not contain caffeine, it is smooth and aromatic with a mild lemony taste. I highly recommend adding the organic sweetener, Organic Blue Agave, to the tea. If you don't pay attention the place looks like its closed. Many times we have passed it by but tonight the lights were on inside and there were people outside so we ventured in and decided to finally try Tourquoise. It was A-OK. Almost everything on the menu is heavly laden in Garlic. Our server was able to accomodate us on two items that didn't have garlic and we enjoyed dinner very much. I had the lamb kabob which was not marinated in garlic and it was very good. It came with rice. The boyfriend had the Broiled White Fish and again, ate it all up - his digestive system isn't nearly as sensitive as mine. The wine was nice and the service was good so we would probably return but not sure what else I can eat here since I can't handle garlic. I was wondering why no falafel on the menu? The desert was nice too. it was a soy rosewater icecream and very different but refreshing taste. read more

Turquoise gets 5 stars and I wish I could give more. The Environment: The restaurant is very cute and bright, and about 2 blocks from the beach. The colors used in the decor pack a punch of vibrant energy, and the owner, Hameed, will happily tell you about his works of photography and the stories behind items on the menu. You are sure to have engaging conversations while eating at Turquoise. I should also mention that the owners have a chihuahua named Bambi and she sits outside in a bag, the cutest little guardian in the world. The Food: Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow. Look no further for an amazing experience with Mediterranean cuisine. The lentil soup was wonderful, as well as the duck shawarma panini! The flavors are beautiful, and everything is skillfully homemade. Hameed gave us Persian ice cream to end our visit there. Tip: ASK FOR THE PERSIAN ICE CREAM. I would give the spot three and a half stars. I actually liked the food enough to be back. The main issue was that for a Mediterranean / Persian restaurant, the serving sizes were disappointedly small. In fact, I don't recall ever seeing Persian food served in such small quantities at any other restaurant. Especially in light of the prices which for average. As such, you would expect average serving sizes. That was not the case. Another issue that we had, was the fact that the chicken kabob, while cooked well, was lacking the typical flavor that you would expect from such an item. A bit underwhelming. The beef kabob was better. The decor was more Greek and middle eastern despite the fact that the spot clearly serves persian food. But that's totally aok. Nice decor either way. Parking was street parking with meters. Make sure you put in enough money as they ticket without mercy. read more

Brought here for a date. Was told about their freshly made humus & Persian ice cream. It's a small restaurant so worth making reservations for dinner. The restaurant has excellent service & the decor is beautiful! It was cold last night but for warmer days & nights they have wonderful tables for dining outside. The food is soooo fresh & quality amazing! Try the Turquoise Salad!!! The fruit is perfectly paired with greens & very slight dressing that allows juice from the fruit to be the main event. I never had sturgeon & since it was a special we tried it. Again the spices & flavored danced in sync making my mouth & stomach feel wonderful, healthy, & happy! But wait! Our server said they are known for their creme brûlée!!! My favorite- but will have to go back to be the judge of that because we came for the Persian ice cream. Amaze Za Zing!!!! Creamy, light, rose water, and a bit gooey with bits of pistachios. I'm a connoisseur of chocolate desserts & creme brus but was won over by this dessert! The food superb, excellent organic lentil soup ~ fabulous Greek salad, which I think is out of this world. Also a big shout out to an amazing young man Nicholas H!!! What a great young man with only praises for his job, work family and food they serve. My bff Carie and I can't wait to go back and hope we are lucky enough to see Nicholas again. A hidden gem, right in front of your eyes! Location, service, and quality beyond expectations. My wife and I just got home from a great discovery. We started with an order of hummus and tabouli both off the chart, fresh, and organic? Truly the best we've ever had. For our entrees we had the special Scottish Salmon with grilled organic veggies and the Lamb Kabob with grilled veggies. Both dishes killed it! Dessert, my wife had the banafit, and I had the chocolate tart with coffee. Again, nothing disappointed. This place is a local, mom and pop place, the owner spent 10 minutes with us after the meal, talking about the food, and his other dishes "made with love". Our first time, we will be back!! I love this restaurant! So so good! Since having take out only, we have ordered their family kebab meal a couple times, and it is delish! We love all the veggies, the chicken is flavorful and tender and the rice is cooked perfectly. My only wish is that there was a little sauce of some sort included. We are vacationing in Redondo Beach and craved something delicious - we are so happy a friend gave us this recommendation. The restaurant is airy and clean, beautifully appointed with the owners own photographs. We ordered the family platter (take out) and I watched it come off the grill, everything looking fresh and prepared with care. The owner gave us fantastic beer recommendations and helped even carry the order out to my car. The food tasted even better than it looked. Came here a few months back and it was a great experience. The service was just perfect and so warm, from the servers in the restaurant and the owner. They were so accommodating with our baby and understanding of our diet restriction requests. We loved the lamb kebab! and the hummus. The food and the wine was really delicious. I ordered the chicken kabob and it tender, flavorful, and yummy. We also got the bread with 5 different dips/toppings. The bread is good (not amazing) but the spinach dip is addicting with the perfect amount of creaminess and tang. The olive tapanade was also really yummy. However, the service was insanely slow. Somehow the reservation was overlooked and we had to wait outside for about an hour in the wind and cold. Restaurant was really crowded and group that had not made a reservation yet arrived before us was seated at least 30 minutes before our group. Food was good but basic and overpriced. We took my great aunt here for her 91st birthday and they treated her like a queen. Fresh ingredients, good portion size, loads of flavor and a variety of things for vegans and meat eaters. I'd say 3.5 - ordered to go food twice. First time it took over an hour and one of the female waitresses was so rude. We were promised free bread next time by the owner. Alas, we moved on and enjoyed the salad and kabobs we took to the beach. Today we ordered two salads and lamb kabobs. Put in the notes for well done kabobs and no cheese on the salads. Came 45 minutes later to give well enough time as we were learned by customers last time that the food is perfect but the service is very slow. One salad was ready and the kabobs but the second wasn't. They didn't realize we ordered two-well we paid for two. We get them finally, walk to the beach and have raw kabobs, enough salad dressing for one salad, and only two silverware packages for three meals/people. What a disappointment. This is a wonderful restaurant! My new favorite in the South Bay!! Try the lentil soup, it's home made and has a lovely lemon flavor we didn't expect yet added a perfect balance to the soup. I rarely feel motivated enough to write a good review for a place because it has to be THAT good, but this place is THAT good. I am SUPER picky about my food and I eat here at least once a week because the ingredients are so fresh! They use natural chicken and organic beef, organic salads, and the owner personally goes to the farmers markets to pick the fruits/vegetables they use in many of their daily entrees. Their dinner shrimp entree is the bomb, but I also frequent this place for their chicken kebob, spinach salad, beef kebobs, and Turquoise hummus (which by the way, isn't made from those gross canned garbanzo beans but from garbanzo beans they actually soak overnight in the kitchen and make from scratch!) The location is amazing, less than a block from the beach. We came here over the weekend with a group of friends and our 5 Golden Retrievers. We sat outside on the patio, and even though it was a cold night, the owner made sure we were comfortable, bringing out blankets and plenty of heaters to keep us warm. The menu had a great selection of organic vegan and vegetarian options, with plenty of meat dishes as well. They have a nice variety of tapas, and their tea selection was very good as well. The service was very friendly and attentive. I'm sure we will be back again soon. read more

One of the most flavorful and delightful dining experiences we have had this year. We started with Turquoise's California interpretation of a Greek salad. It had a simple lemon and fine olive oil dressing that highlighted the fresh baby romaine lettuce and Greek olives and ripe plum tomatoes. Ripe, flavorful tomatoes! Simple, fresh, real flavors on display. Good feta cheese. No flavors overpowering others. The lamb kabob plate was the highlight. 7 nice pieces of tenderloins marinated in saffron with a delicate saffron rice and roasted vegetables were so flavorful on their own. And cooked exactly to our preferred medium rare. There were also 2 prepared small dishes that highlighted the lamb and saffron rice flavors. Each carefully prepared from family recipes. The owner, noticing our enjoyment, took the time to explain the ingredients and preparation steps for each. One was from homemade yogurt and shallots and spinach. We commented to a fellow diner who apparently comes here every week how we would have to spend twice as much to have a similar meal in his native NYC. And we could hear each other in conversation at the height of the dinner hour. A delight. read more
