I had 2 experiences at Twenty8 in a 24 hour period. One amazing and one terrible. On a Saturday late afternoon we stopped at the bar for a few drinks and to watch the world cup match. We had a great time, the bartender (Tania?) was AWESOME. I went back to the restaurant for breakfast the next day since we were staying at the hotel. I ordered the avocado toast and it was awful. For $19, 2 eggs, and a slice of toasted bread the 'avocado' shouldn't be grainy and like it came out of a tub. It just wasn't edible. The eggs had an artificial butter taste like movie theater popcorn and were served on top of the toast which made it very soggy. I would not recommend. I'm rating 3 stars. Afternoons amazing! This is only a review for breakfast. And frankly, only for one dish. And yet still, for one chef ... I had breakfast at my hotel today and had the eggs Benedict. I do not expect much from a hotel breakfast, but this was included in my Titanium Benefit and I did not want to travel in the snow for breakfast. I had the entree, juice and coffee. I will not waste a lot of words on the Benedict, just look at the picture. It far exceeded my expectations. Cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. Eyes half open. Family crabby as heck due to lack of food. Currently living off of some microscopic snacks from the plane ride. Thanksgiving night, nothing is open because, well it's Thanksgiving Night! Fortunately, this place was open till 9:00 pm and it was 8:50 pm, panic officially in motion! We ran in there, at 8:58 pm, jackets dragging on the floor, hat half off, glasses nowhere to be seen, suitcases in hand and thankfully, they still sat us! Huge sigh of relief. Service was great, our hostess/waiter/bartender (our all in one bundle of joy) was very nice and as attentive as he could be. He seemed to be the lone wolf, with the exception of the manager that mainly sat and watched tv. Felt bad for our lonely, apparently over his table quota, bundle of joy, but he had a smile and was very outgoing. We ordered the shrimp wraps, which were really good, a little spicy due to the kimchi, but to each is his own. Then our main meal consisted of a steak, shrimp and a burger. All were okay, it's pretty much bar food, but we didn't care because they were open and we were starving! Price Range: Medium Perk: They were open! Non-Perk: Need more staff. Last night we feasted on the Mushroom and Leek Ragout, which was SO delicious, and finished off with the White Chocolate and Almond Mouse! Located in the Renaissance Hotel & Spa at Patriot Place, I attended an industry function last night with about 150 people. First of all, the facility is just beautiful, with great style everywhere you look- the bar, the furniture, the look of the whole place is gorgeous. Patriot Place itself is also pretty nice, granted it was far less crowded yesterday than it is on a game day. The event I went to last night included passed hors d 'oeuvres and two food stations. The hors d'oeuvres included seasonal vegetables with Ranch and red pepper dip, Tenderloin with caramelized onions and horseradish cream, wontons with spicy tuna and a siracha aioli, bacon wrapped scallops, a tequila chicken with mango salsa served on a potato chip, and an apple goat cheese mousse with candied walnuts and phyllo dough. The food I tried was outstanding. I didn't sample everything, but the spicy tuna and tequila chicken earned high marks. As the evening progressed, two food stations opened up -a Macaroni and Cheese Bar and a "Cider Brined Chicken Breast Station". The mac and cheese station was a clever idea and you could have traditional mac and cheese or a version with shrimp and garlic. I didn't think the product was more than average. On the other hand, the cider brined chicken breast was the best food I had all night. Incredibly moist and juicy (how come the chicken I cook at home is never as good as this?) it was carved to order and served with an apple-cranberry glaze. The evening ended with platters of mini filled cupcakes. I had one and it was excellent. So in summary, the food was very good, the ambience was very good, the service was attentive and friendly. I went with my wife before a Bruce Springsteen Concert. I did have a reservation. After being seated, the server told us she would be right back. 20 Minutes later a now show. I had to contact one of the three managers at the front desk chatting. We waited another 10 minutes for one of the managers to take our order. We both ordered cheeseburgers. Pretty simple. My burger came without cheese. I did not complain because we were running out of time. My wife asked for extra Ketchup but it never arrived. This place is great so I'm a little thrown off by the 2 1/2 Star Rating... You walk into the elegant Renaissance Hotel and over to the restaurant where you'll be surrounded by funky modern decor. I'm not sure who was the interior decorator, but I want them to come decorate my house!! The chairs at the bar have zebra print backs with red leather seating, everything just comes together so well. This was my 3rd time eating at Twenty8 ...but one of the 3 times, I organized a company dinner here which was arranged in a private room for 10 people. Everyone agreed that the appetizers and dinner were amazing. The private room was cute and cozy and can seat up to 12 so its a nice place to host a private party. My most recent time here, I ordered the soup of the day as an appetizer which was a beef stew. When I was told it was made with Boston Lager, I knew I had to try it. Beer in my soup?? YES PLEASE! I am usually a homemade beef stew kind of girl, but this soup was great!! It did not have huge chunks of beef, but it was more like shredded beef throughout the soup. It was a heavy soup, therefore, I didn't finish the entire bowl so I could leave room for me meal. For my entree I ordered the Pan Roasted Salmon which was cooked perfectly. I forget which vegetables I got as a side but I wasn't a fan of either. Oh well, the salmon was enough for me. One big thing here is the liquor. If you are going to order a drink, you MUST ask for a top shelf bottle or else you are going to get the crap vodka, tequila or rum. I am throwing 3 stars at Twenty8 for our experience here last week. There may be some entrees that are not the right pick as I have read the other yelpers, but I have to say that there is one entree they definately have down, and that is the gnocchi. That dish, though a few bucks over-priced, is delicious. Our server was very sweet, but did not master the espresso martini - no problem. The atmosphere is very nice and dimly lit - romantic. I had the queso fondido appetizer- gooey goodness served with little flatbread pieces to sop it up with, and it was excellent. I would come back again and give it another shot. We recently stayed at the Renaissance and went to the 28 for breakfast on a Saturday. We sat, ordered coffee and were told it was a buffet (ugh). We had checked out the menu online and were not expecting a buffet. The buffet was scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and potatoes. (Our bill was $40 for two) Our server did say the kitchen would make an omelette or pancakes if we wanted them. Overall, it felt like a complimentary buffet at a cheaper hotel. The service was excellent and we love the space. Next time we stay there, we'll make other breakfast plans. read more

I have walked by this place a hundred times and thought it was just another typical hotel lounge restaurant. I was so wrong! Some of the best food we have had in a long time. The nachos were bursting with flavor. We got the salmon and risotto for our main course. I give them both a 10!! My husband and I were highly impressed and will definitely be back. Here for business. Mid-week. Not crowded but can only imagine how it is during events at the Stadium. I enjoyed my dining experience here. It wasn't busy. Sat at the bar. Enjoyed a glass of Cab (Beringer). The wine list wasn't that great. I wasn't impressed with the cocktail menu either. No Craft Cocktails of the Manhattan/Old Fashioned variety. That's on me. I don't trust just any bartender to make one. The bar menu looked appealing but I ordered an entrée - the La Nostra pasta. It was absolutely fantastic. Deliciousness in every bite. I had made a dinner reservation at this restaurant just before attending the Rolling Stones concert. As you can imagine, the restaurant was extremely busy!! We were grateful just to be seated at a nice restaurant in Patriot Place that night! We were seated very promptly but it took a while for the server to approach us. She was very apologetic and took our drinks and food orders right away. Surprisingly our drinks and food came out rather quickly! I ordered the mac and cheese and my husband ordered the seafood linguine. My mac and cheese was very creamy and nice and hot! It was really tasty. My husband's dish was full of seafood and he said he really enjoyed it! I found the dishes to be a little overpriced but this was probably due to the event that night. It took quite a while to get our bill and pay for it. We weren't in a rush or anything but by that point, I just wanted to settle up. Again our server kept on apologizing for the slow service - she was very nice and I think she appreciated our patience. The restaurant has a lot of potential - it's beautifully decorated and the food is very tasty. It just needs to focus on providing faster and more attentive service. read more

Started with calamari, it was a mess, big glob of tentacle bodies stuck together. Unappealing. They also breaded the banana peppers, I believe to give the illusion of more calamari on the plate. The dipping sauce tasted like generic, bottled seafood cocktail sauce. I accidentally ordered the rib eye steak (I'll explain the "accident"). I felt the steak was thin and tough. It came with a light BBQ sauce that was uninteresting. Now, the "accident". This restaurant charges $30 for a steak, so, I'd expect top quality servers. The menu they have is stupid. The "main" menu is a single sheet of paper tucked into a black board. They had a "Summer" menu partially tucked in on top of the "main" menu. I specifically pulled the "Summer" menu out of the way & asked, "Can I get the rib eye prepped like it is on this menu?" I think an attentive, quality server would have noticed there is NO rib eye on the "main" menu that I was pointing out. I feel she should have corrected me, so I could have ordered the proper sirloin style steak. (No, I didn't feel right, sending the steak back, I made the actually error). IMO: you can definitely skip dinner here & try one of the several other eating establishments within walking distance. read more

I like this place alright, but it sounds like my complaints are similar to the others I'm reading on here: selection and price. The menu is only one page, one side, and the prices are a little bit steep for what you get. The atmosphere is pretty cool, and I've never had any issues with the service, but I think I'd only return here again if I had another Restaurant.com gift certificate like I did for my last visit... or maybe just for the gnocchi! Despite my 3 star review, I've gotta say their gnocchi is definitely up there in the 4-5 star range! I was very pleasantly surprised, since I wouldn't expect gnocchi this good outside of an Italian restaurant. The portion was so enormous that I ended up bringing almost half of it home with me, and that says a lot considering I typically eat gnocchi until it's either gone or I explode because I like it that much. It was smothered in a pink vodka sauce with tomatoes and basil... simple, yet delicious! It was more than I typically pay for gnocchi, but since it was so generous of a portion, I'd say it's one of the best deals on the menu. read more

As a frequenter of Patriot Place, I decided to try Twenty8 as the next restaurant on my quest to try them all. Upon walking in, it seemed nice enough, although there is not really any separation from the hotel lobby, so you don't entirely feel like you're in a nice restaurant. One wall would make a huge difference. But no big deal, we were seated and promptly a waitress came over and took our drink orders. The service, though, unfortunately went downhill from there. It took a good 10 minutes to get our drinks, 30 minutes to get our food (and there was no bread served in the meantime, although I did see bread plates on some tables which was questionable), and then it took about 10 minutes for her to drop off the check and another 10 to pick it up. It was definitely not busy enough for the level of service we received. Another issue was the lack of selection on the menu. There were a total of about 15 entrees to choose from on the entire menu... in addition to a few appetizers, 2 or 3 soups and 3 salads. The whole menu fit on one piece of paper. Now I'm not one to need pages and pages of options (ala Cheesecake Factory), but I do enjoy a little variety to choose from. This didn't really cut it. Pretty much the one redeemable quality of this restaurant is that the food itself was excellent. I had the pan-seared salmon and my fiance had the filet mignon, both of which were very good. However, they would've been a lot better if we weren't so ravenous from the waiting with no bread to pick on, that we scarfed it down so quickly! Would I go back here again? Probably not. Overall, for the prices they charge, I'd be able to get a much better experience elsewhere. read more

Someone made a reservation for a corporate lunch here and I was spooked, when I read these reviews, before I went. Maybe lunch is a better time to go, instead of dinner. Lunch was great. When I arrived, my party was already seated and waiting with drinks (I was only a moment late). I was greeted by a server and asked for my drink order within a few minutes. I saw there were several other tables with six or so people also dining. Everything moved timely through the meal, we ordered cocktails,appetizers and entrees. My colleague was having a birthday and they acknowledged it and brought out a complimentary chocolate cake for dessert (and he even sang with us). At one point it seemed we were served by two waiters but I think one of them may have been a manager-type. I would suggest, however, that they add more variety to the lunch menu. There was a little too much flat bread/ sandwich items. It would've been nice if they had a regular grilled fish option available for lunch. That said, I think they were very accommodating and I left the restaurant wondering what craziness must've happened for these other reviewers. I believe their stories but, can't help but think maybe they had been isolated experiences.... or maybe, mine was. read more

At the hotel for business, had dinner @ Twenty Eight. Food was EXCELLENT. Swordfish with parm crust and lemon caper sauce cooked PERFECTLY, not at all dry but done through. Grilled asparagus done to a turn, lovely char marks but still had a nice "bite", and opted for the risotto cake instead of potato...YUMl Decided to splurge and have the butterscotch Creme Brulee, which was yummy, but to be picky, could have been torched on top just a bit more. Ended up going back the 2nd night there, just for something light - they'd been out of the Clam Chowder the night before, and wasn't sure what I wanted - Jenna, the bartender got me a "tasting" of the chowder - OMG - one of the best chowders ANYWHERE! Super creamy, lovely consistency, and just soooo flavorful! You could taste every component - the clams (YUM YUM), the potato, every bit of herb and celery and the BACON.... not overpowering, just oh so complimentary!! Should have just had a full bowl, but opted for an order of wings - parm/garlic, done to a turn and with lovely crunch and juiciness. .Worth every penny. Jenna at the bar was lovely, effecient and wine and food savvy. Sheldon, the chef, has an incredible touch and flair. I'd eat in his kitchen every darn day! Also, Nicole in the upstairs lounge was lovely, gracious, and uber helpful as well. I'd go back in a heartbeat, and considering it's only a half hour from my place, I WILL make a special trip!! read more

The girls that work here are very kind and welcoming. We ordered a chicken sandwich to go and they made an error and put cheese on it. When we called back they made a new one promptly and even gave us extra French fries. As others pointed out, the inside is devoid of patrons and the atmosphere is lacking. This has to be one of the worst places I have ever ordered a meal in... The Zebra bar stools should be black and white like a zebra right? Instead the stools are dirty, stained and dusty. The other chairs are not much cleaner. We noticed this only after waiting over 45 minutes for a simple scrambled egg bacon and toast breakfast... Service was lacking, no one came by to tell us why our order was taking so long, or apologize. Our table was barely wiped down, there was smeared egg yolk on the table and we wiped it down ourselves. Given all the other places in walking distance, do yourself a huge favor and spend money elsewhere, you will find cleaner places, cheaper prices and staff willing to service your order in 1/4 of the time. This place needs a major overhaul. The restaurant is cold, there are doors near by and the chill never left the air inside the whole time. So the manager comes by after 50 minutes to check on us and tell us they had a full seating today and that is the reason for the delay... Isn't the job of a restaurant to be able to provide services when they are busy and not make excuses? read more

Honestly; not the best place for the money you pay. I went with 13 other folks on Saturday night 11/12. We were originally going to go to Toby Keiths bar, but a 2hr plus wait wasn't going to work for us. So we tried Twenty8. The atmosphere is really nice... no complaints of anything with that. The presentation is nice. Again no complaints. Plus I love Marriotts. Why the low raiting? Price, choice and service. The menu options were really slim! One page, little options. Price was more on the expensive side. Not saying its not worth the money for what you order. Just with little options off the menu you are really in a bind to pick an item that is pricey. If you want a burger this is not the place to come to in order to buy one. The last part was service. She started off strong. Very nice, water, drinks etc. Then she disappeared. When I am in a nice place like this, why should I have to ask for water several times when my glass is empty? Not just that though, she really did disappear. At one point I had to grab another waiter to try to pay. It was a nice time for the group, just pricey with limited options. One page only of choices. Service was strong at first then fell apart. Only after I got some food did they tell me they'd make me an omelette and this included in the buffet - weird - poor service or money saving technique- not sure which. Went to bar last night. Got a martini with a little too much ice chips, but some people like it that way. They have a large selection of craft beers on tap which was a nice surprise. Had the charcuterie board - it was OUTSTANDING! Local cheeses, salami, pickled vegetables, and a couple deviled eggs with a dollop of bacon jelly. Delicious. I almost ordered another. I have to agree with the other reviewers that the space is quite striking and the menu is quite limited. That being said, everyone seemed to enjoy their lunches. I also agree with the Melanie D. in that the lack of clear/obvious demarcation between the restaurant and lobby detracts from the place a bit. Service was attentive and efficient. The outdoor patio looks like it could be fun in warm weather. I'm not sure there's enough here to make me return, especially given the plethora of other restaurants in Patriot Place. read more

A little pricey, but you are paying for the ambiance. It is really nice inside. Ok dramatic improvement ! Returned for breakfast buffet, it was fabulous Delicious sausage ,bacon, and a just wonderful scrambler-omelette the Cheff made for me. They have a tray of scrambled eggs, but it's much better if the Cheff makes something up for you at the omelette station. Also had smoked salmon. It was great although I did have to trim off a little skin. All things considered its the best breakfast I've had in months. Highly recommended, so you can disregard the rest of my old review below, but I will leave it posted for now, Old review; Been there twice. 1st time they served me Turkey sausage instead of pork. Second time they served the pork sausage but it was over cooked and all dried out. So if you need to meet in a really nice , fancy looking place for breakfast, this is the place, but currently The breakfast food is sub-par. In one word -- "Bland" I had the New York strip with roasted potatoes and green beans. She had the lobster mac and cheese. Neither were terrible, nor where they good. Steak was cooked well, but very dry. I had ordered it medium rare, and there was barely a drip of juice on the plate. Even with the center being red/pink. Potatoes and green beans didn't really have any flavor either. I was told that the lobster was overcooked and the mac and cheese wasn't even close to as good as Silvertones mac and cheese a few weeks ago. To start the night off on the wrong foot - we made reservations for my father's birthday. Upon arrival we noticed the Valetines Day menu was still being served. When making reservations this was not told to us. We asked our server Joana if there were any accommodations that could be made - immediately was defensive and didn't want to be helpful. Was told the manager wouldn't be able to do much besides providing the same menu but she would get her for us. Manger actually came and was able to provide a few adjustments. Besides appearance. Don't come here it's a piss poor experience. Lobster bisque was luke warm with fake lobster meat. Entrees is where we had enough. No reason or feasible explanation as to why the birthday persons chicken was the last thing to arrival after being told close to 3 times that it would be arriving shortly. To our surprise the chicken was still very much alive (raw). Then to please us after finally us having enough we were offered a bottle of wine for the table and a few things being discounted off our bill. They expected us to open the bottle apparently with our raw chicken because it wasn't opened when given to us. Won't be coming back but this place is perfect for an instagram moment. read more

Went here on a Friday night with my girlfriend to meet a friend from out of town. It was a ghost town around 6:30 so we were initially skeptical, but our fears were soon waylaid. First, there are plenty of craft beers to choose from on draught. Second, our waitress was attentive, nice and very competent, quick to apologize when one of the craft beers I ordered was out and helpful with suggestions on a substitute. Third, the food was delicious. I had the lobster mac'n'cheese which was fantastic. Good helpings of lobster and the sriracha give it a nice bite. My girlfriend had the Twenty8 flatbread. Both were excellent. Overall a very nice dining experience. They lose a point on atmosphere just because the layout of this hotel restaurant is so open and has a bit of traffic running through a portion. read more
