Customer Service, extremely unprofessional, rude, disorganized. I followed the address on the app and it directed me blocks away (El Segundo Blvd) from the actual location. Which made me late and caused a ton of confusion and trouble. No parking for customers when I finally found the location. I was rudely directed to find the van by pressing the panic button and follow the sound, then I had to go back inside because my van was blocked in by many other trucks. Mobile pick up/drop off confusing and did not work properly. I also was not aware or updated that dolly's were unavailable and made my move very difficult, then I was charged for a "missing dolly" at pick up, that was never given to me. I went yesterday to fill my propane tank at this location because the WEBSITE stated everything propane related was in working order. Got to the location only one person at the register and the line was looong, myself and the other customers had to have been standing in line at least 20 minutes. When it was finally my turn to be serviced, the young lady advised me to let the gentleman outside know I needed a refill. When I approached the young man (I forgot his name) he stated while chuckling, "the propane was out of order." I asked , well why isnt there any signs stating such. I immediately left. There was nothing on the tank, or the front doors. Uhaul please do better. Proper signage would've prevented this review. And to the young man that laughed in my face, DO BETTER! read more

The staff is very friendly. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. They didn't pressure me for any extra add ons, and they provided me with the van I needed. The prices are good. I paid for 50 miles, but I only used 30 miles so they charged me only what I used. When I returned the truck, no hassle just dropped it off and their staff took over and inspected the vehicle. Cameron is an excellent staff member he needs a raise. He inspected the vehicle efficiently and promptly. I'll be back during my next move. read more

To have one employee at the desk on a Saturday morning towards the end of the month when people are usually moving is ridiculous. Add to that the employee working definitely did not want to be there. Her attitude and "customer service" were both terrible. We reserved online which didn't seem to make any difference in the speed of the transaction. We had ordered a dolly and were told there were none and that they can't be responsible if other customers don't bring the dolly back. The person giving out the rental vehicles was equally not interested in any type of good customer service. I had hopes that when we returned the rental that there would be a different employee attitude. Nope. Although this location is very convenient geographically, I would drive miles out of the way to avoid going here ever again. I get that places are short handed these days but the people that are working don't seem to want to be there. PS - the reason we were renting was to clear out the apt of our son that just died. Last Friday (December 19th), I went to pick up a truck and a Dolly I had reserved at this location. I tried to follow the address link provided in the app, but it directed me almost two blocks away from the actual store, which caused me to drive around several times trying to find the place. When I finally arrived, the staff told me that the Dolly was unavailable. I asked whether the Dolly fee would be refunded, but received no clear answer. I had no choice but to proceed with the rental. The truck had almost no fuel, and I was told that if I filled it up halfway, they would deduct $40 from the receipt. However, the amount of gas corresponding to that $40 was actually only about a quarter of a tank. I refueled to that amount and took photos for documentation. I trusted that the partial refund would be processed, but the charge still has not been properly handled by my card issuer. I also do not know whether the Dolly fee was refunded. When I contacted U-Haul customer service about the fuel charge, I was told that excess fuel charges are not refundable according to policy. I feel that this misguidance caused me a loss, and it honestly feels no different from being scammed. It seems like small-amount customers are being ignored, and the service from the moment the reserved Dolly was unavailable was extremely frustrating. (If an item is reserved, there should be one ready for pick-up -- that's standard procedure.) I was very disappointed with my first experience here. If anyone else has experienced a similar issue, be aware that any verbal promises from staff regarding fuel refunds should not be trusted. read more

I called to ask if they had a dolly with the truck rentals cause we had just left one that didn't. A woman answered the phone and before I can ask my question I was placed on hold. Remained on hold for 10mins. Hung up called back same thing. Arrived to this location and the customer service was extremely poor. They are understaff and no one moves with a sense of urgency. They were moving so slow the line end up out the door without moving for 20mins. Jaycee arrived to his self and saved the day with fast service. Wow I'm suprised this place has 3 stars. I came in and rented a cargo van on a sunday, I asked for a utility dolly and they had none, so I rented an appliance dolly no biggie it was a couple of extra bucks. While checking out I get an estimated total of $68 for a $19.95 van going 20miles. I said you added insurance didn't you, the lady said yes it is mandatory, I was going to get it this time so I didn't dispute it, but I used to work for Uhaul 20+ years ago. Insurance is not mandatory. I used a major credit card and didn't care about the deposit. That was the first red flag, so she gave me the keys and bought the appliance dolly to the front desk, they didnt mention where the van was or anything but like I said, I used to work for Uhaul so I can find the van myself. I go to put the dolly in the back and what do you know, there's already an appliance dolly in the back, so I return the one she left at the front desk to the guy outside and explain, he says no problem keep the one in the back and leave this one. Cool so I leave for 2 or 3 hours and bring the van back. There were about 6 trucks in front of me. When I get out and go inside they ask was everything ok and did you fill it back up. I said yes then I explained the appliance dolly situation again. They said no problem leave us the keys and we will email you a receipt. I have heard them tell multiple people this. I do that and wait for the receipt. That day nothing. Today I get a receipt emailed to me and guess what, there's a charge of $200 for not returning the appliance dolly. Smh. Obviously I call to complain and get sent to a call center to file my claim, I am awaiting the results. This is ridiculous. I know it's their mistake so I will get my money back, but everything was explained as I dropped it off. That's what makes this so bad. read more

I had a complication in my rental, but they worked quickly to fix it and make sure I was happy with the results. And I know it's a small thing, but the bathroom was clean. Traysean I've been using U-Haul trailer rentals for the better part of a decade and typically rent trailers of all sizes every other week over that time. I have not run across anyone more helpful expedient, kind, and customer service oriented than Traysean in of my time working with Uhaul. I hope that management sees his work ethic and dedication to his duties. I made a reservation a couple of weeks ahead on the UHaul website. I called the facility on the morning of to confirm. I was told, "The person who does that work doesn't come in on Thursday." Last minute need for a large 20 foot truck and this UHaul location came through. Service was decent, present credentials, hand over a credit card and we were in and out in minutes flat. Hardest part was learning to maneuver the beast of a truck. Whole new respect for the drivers who make this a career...on bigger vehicles! One short drive and it becomes apparent how bad everyday drivers (in cars) are, wholly guacamole so bad it makes your teenage driving years almost look professional. In any case, do yourself a favor and buy the full insurance. Don't take chances with that. On my short visit to the location I could see they have everything one would need for a successful move. Okay in my dreams I'd love some hunk-a-licious centerfold dream men to be my personal movers but alas, that is one service you can't get here. At least I don't think you can, I didn't ask but these days anything is possible am I right? Spacious parking, driveways and an enormous lot - perfect for maneuvering for easy returns or rentals. I did have to call and extend the rental for one day, though it was painless it felt like I stumped the rep who answered. After some non-committal and timid responses, she could feel the pressure of her lack of knowledge and soon decided on placing me on hold to get a firm response. Admittedly I wasn't confident the info I was given was 100% accurate so I called back for confirmation. Assured I had the right info I quickly got over that exchange and chalked it up to a learning experience. I gave the rep the benefit of the doubt that she is new, and left it at that. Ask questions. Got there to pick up my pre-reserved truck to find out the gas had been siphoned dry the night before. "Ha ha. Yeah, that happens. (Because the boss is too cheap to buy locking gas caps?!?!) We may need to send you to another UHaul." "You don't have any gas?" "Oh yeah. Let me look. Nope. All the gas cans are empty." I had to go get gas and bring it back, which worked out. The rolling door was stuck and the lock had been cut off, but not replaced, so I had to use my bike lock. It looked like there was only one guy working that had a clue. I'm guessing an absent & cheap boss. And just out of curiosity, why doesn't UHaul require that rentals are returned full of gas, like a car rental. That's the second time I've rented a truck (different UHaul locations) that it was given to me empty or almost empty where the person checking me out was completely unfazed (before we knew it was siphoned). read more

This place is the worse. They need to hire better people to work here. Every time I go for propane, it takes forever to get any service. The last time I went, I pushed the button for service as the sign says and nobody came out. I waited 5min and nobody came. I went in and a guy was just sitting there. No other customers in there. I tell him I need a propane refill. He says there is only one other guy there but he will come out to fill the tank. He then looks at my takes and says they are expired he can't refill them. These are tanks I propane exchanged at Lowe's last year. A bunch of crap. These people don't want to work and have no customer service experience. I took the tanks to Lowe's and exchanged them with no issue. Save your self the heartache and just go to Lowe's instead. read more

I had the worst experience at this location, first of all I made a reservation on Friday go to pick up the truck on Saturday no truck. The counter guy was so unhelpful and professional and could care less about about customer service. He said sorry we have no trucks I said what is the point of making a reservation if you wont have a truck. His response it happens here all the time absolutely the worst thing to tell a customer. He definitely did not try to help at all brushed me off and said no other location could help.. WTH. They had us set up and out in about 25 min. He gave us advice on the best timeframe for our move and the equipment we would need because we were off. The workers here are very unprofessional, I called to ask questions about my past rental I was over charged and when I asked about it the rep that answered was having a conversation with the other employees and as I was speaking she kept asking me to repeat myself because she was more into her conversation then trying to help me. Sign on the building (Rosecrans and Van Ness) says "Hitches!" The UHaul website says "hitches!" The counter person had noooo problem charging my credit card $327 to install a hitch on my Honda CR-V (one of the most popular vehicles in the US)...and, after getting the money, *then* she checks to see if they have the right hitch. No? I made the appointment on the UHaul website two weeks prior, showed up as promised at the appointed time, paid **in advance,** and whoof! NO hitch. "We have to order it...we'll contact you when it arrives." More than two weeks later, I finally dropped by and asked where my hitch is? The manager looked it up...and, oh! They never ordered it. No idea if or when it might show up. Didn't stop them from making the installation appointment; certainly didn't stop them from charging my credit card. They did do a charge back, while I stood there for about 15 minutes and the counter person endlessly pecked away at her keyboard. So, in essence, they don't install hitches, despite all the clues to the contrary. What they did do, though, is waste a lot of my time. read more

I reserved a 15-footer truck to be picked up on Halloween for a one-way NorCal trip THREE WEEKS PRIOR. "No problem." 2 days before said pick-up, i get a text saying my truck is ready to be picked up. AT BELLFLOWER. WTH!? So, I called this particular U-Haul and asked about the mix-up. I was told there was no mix-up, I had to pick up said truck 45 minutes away. I made a request to have the truck transferred to this location since the pick up wasn't going to be another 48 hours, but was told, "We no longer do that. Sorry." I spoke to a couple of people. Both said, "Sorry. There's nothing more we can do." No explanations, no reasons provided. I had no choice but to go out of my way. Forced to make the drive, and since it was rush hour, I ended up wasting a couple of hours and unnecessary wasting fuel. Will consider other truck rental companies should the need come up again in the future. read more

It was obvious they were all miserable working & the young man that we drove up to, dropping off the vehicle to was a rude jack ass (f word came to mind). I have felt more reception at courthouse getting sentenced than coming here. In fact, I preferred the cold treatment from the first older gentleman when we were picking up the vehicle- he drilled us thru the process speaking very little, but at least he wasn't talking out of his ass like that fool did to my husband. Even those guys at pierce shops & tattoo parlors are bit more amiable. Come here for the crappy customer treatment, stay here for the abuse; This is the go to place to get dumped on.
