We used the 28 foot U pack trailer for our move from California to Tennessee. We reviewed multiple ways to get our things across the country. U pack provided a price and there was no weight limit. They delivered the 28 foot trailer on time. Our family helped us load all of our belongings into the trailer. After it was loaded, we locked the provided door and our items were sent across country. We paid the additional amount to have the trailer stored. We drove across country and purchased a home. I called U pack and they delivered the trailer to our small town right up to our garage. We hired a moving company to unload all of our heavy furniture And boxes. After the trailer was emptied, I called U pack and they drove out and picked it up. I had to change the dates several times due to issues with the escrow and sale of our home. Each time I called U pack, they were so friendly and changed what I needed them to change. I highly recommend this company. I thought it was too good to be true after having re-searched other companies, but it was exactly, what they promised. No high pressure I recommend taping out your garage if you can to the length and width of the trailer. I put all of my items in the taped area to determine how much room I was going to have. PLEASE READ!! For the love of god save your money and either go elsewhere or sell your precious items and buy new in your next location!!!!! We were going from San Diego, CA to Wilmington, NC. It's a straight shot across the 40 or the 10, basically sea level. We weren't having our freight lug up and down the Rockies. We bubble wrapped just about everything, boxed everything, layered everything with sheets, towels, wrapped items in plastic, tied items with rope to the walls to ensure it was secured, heavier boxes on bottom, you name it. Upack even gave us 75lb wooden walls to go up to hold it all in. We spent $4000 on the freight since we needed a bit more square footage and we're fine with doing so because we really wanted to keep some of our most precious items collected over the years. Our freight was dropped off at our new house and we were eager to make our new place feel like home! We unfortunately had the opposite experience we were hoping for. When we took the wooden doors off, it looked as if the truck driver rolled off a cliff 6 times and hopped back on the road to deliver our stuff. I'm literally convinced the driver got into an accident. Everything was filthy dirty with black dirt, everything was either dented, scratched, or completely broken. What was the point spending all this money only to throw 90% of it out? We wrote an extensive claim report to upack (3 pages worth) with all the photos. $4000 worth of our items were ruined on top of what we spent to get it delivered. I had to follow up on my email because they never even replied. 3 days later, Kacey Yother "Supervisor", send me an email saying since they didn't pack our stuff and it was just "freight shifting", they deny our claim entirely. We're not dumb. We understand the items might shift a bit being on the road. But finding my laundry rack that was sitting on top in the back, in a million pieces sitting under an 80lb rug in the front, just does NOT add up to me. It was the most insincere email with zero care or understanding of what we just experienced. Our driver in Texas showed up without a mask,both coming and going, but we were outside and not required to get close. Our problem was the leak in the trailer that we didn't find out about until we unpacked. We had to immediately wash a lot of clothes, take some things to the dry cleaners, and hand dry silverware,etc. I doubt that the standard insurance will cover much, if anything. We had help loading and unloading, but most people could do it. The hardest part was loading heavy things on top. A ladder is usually required. read more

This was the best option moving from California to Washington state. Where moving companies were quoting me 6-10K! U-pack was a little over 4k for two containers. You have to do the leg work but it's worth the money. Also, you need to buy your own locks for the containers which kinda sucks but still happy with overall results. You can also track your shipment with a tracking number provided by them. Don't get ripped off by the moving companies and use U-pack. It's the future of moving. Thank you U-pack! read more

Finding a quality Moving Cube, Relocube, whatever you want to call it, is not as easy as you might think. The prices vary greatly and so does the service. I eventually decided on U-Pack for my move down the west coast. The cube was delivered as promised and shipped without incident. They gave me an extra week of storage in the San Diego facility that I didn't end up needing, but nice that they gave it to me for free. The delivery to my new place was smooth and after only taking an hour or so to unload it, I called and they came back the same day to pick it up. U-Pack is on the expensive side, as compared to U-Haul for example, but the U-Haul reviews scared me off, too many complaints about price switching and poor customer service. The price that U-Pack quoted me was the same price I paid, including all fees, gas charges and taxes. Moving is never too much fun, but not having to worry about the stuff you packed, or the price you'll end up paying is worth the extra money in my mind. read more

The most impressive part was that the driver in PR got to my new location in that big truck with no issues (mind me, I grew up here and still get a bit scared driving on some of these roads!). I had an amazing experience with U-pack. As a military family, these moves can be so stressful. This was our first PCS and rest assured U-pack made every step very easy. Weight tickets were provided to us fully completed at the end of our move, which was very nice. Delivery was made easy, I was not home at the time and I was allowed to have my neighbor sign off on the truck for me. They even pulled the truck up perfectly in front of my home and I did not have to show them where to go, they used their best judgement and it was perfect. Only downside is that they only deliver and pick up trailers on Wednesdays to Camp Pendleton, CA so I had to tailor some things off of that. Since military moves are so unpredictable, I would have liked more flexibility on dates for Pendleton! Everyone in their customer service is so friendly and kind. We just moved from San Diego to Florida and so glad we found this moving service!! They were top notch from start to finish. The Upack representative we got quoted us correctly on how many cubes we needed. You do have to pack them high and tight to use all the space at maximum capacity. It's a little challenging to make all the pieces fit but if you use padding between big items (we old sheets, etc) and utility cords to tie things to the side of the cube to keep things from falling over during transition, then it works. They were easy to get a hold of and were super helpful with questions and where we wanted the cubes to be placed on our driveway (all on one end so we can still park the car inside our garage and another car on the driveway). They estimated the arrival date to Florida to be around May 29-31. It arrived in Florida on the 28th. It was 6 (7 if you include Memorial Day) business days from when they picked up the cubes. When we got to Florida, the ABF freight company there was great. They worked with us on the drop off date and pick up date. Everyone was very professional all around from start to finish. read more

I have never moved this far before and was nervous so I found a moving company to help us move. Long story short, they scammed us and left us high and dry the weekend of our move. In the midst of this happening my fiancée called U-Pack and told the guy our situation, and that we needed something sooner than what their website had shown. Best news of that entire day was he had a trailer available for us the next day!! They dropped it off, we packed it ourselves (should have done this from the beginning) and had it picked up within a day or rep on our way to our destination. We left a few days later ourselves to drive, we got to our destination and our trailer showed up the next day! It couldn't have worked out better. We even were quoted more than what we used. We received our trailer on time, however it did not come with a ramp (I thought it was a requirement to have a ramp on trailers). When we called, they mentioned a shortage of ramps and they are being manufactured. Mind you the trailer is 28ft long and about 4 and half ft off the ground. They said they would take off $150 and to call around to rent a ramp. I understand this is U-Pack so the customer packs and loads the truck but the company U-Pack should provide all of the tools to the customer in order to load our house hold goods in the trailer. We called SEVERAL places and no one had a ramp for the size of the trailer. If U-Pack would have told us in advance of what we were receiving we would have atleast taken proactive measures to make sure we were suited to load our belongings but we did not know until the trailer was already at our home. My husband loaded the truck by hisself for the most part until my father in law was able to help after he got off work. His back has been hurting since this move. So for the lack of tools U-Pack didn't provide, namely the ramp (which is an essential item needed to load and unload onto a trailer) I'm giving a 3 star. Moving by itself is stressful, packing, transferring, changing things, having little ones around during this process, and anything and everything in between it's all stressful. To add to this stress we loaded a truck 4 and half ft off the ground without a ramp hauling big and heavy furniture. If it wasn't for this issue, U-Pack would have received a 5 star from us and we would have definitely utilized them again for a move in the future. But not knowing if we will get a ramp or not I won't risk doing that again. When we got to our destination we were provided a ramp and hired some movers to unload our furniture since we were all pretty beating up from loading the truck the week before. The trailer came a lot earlier than we had anticipated which we were grateful for. We thought we were going to go a whole week without our things being a holiday weekend. I would recommend this company for a long-distance move, especially if you do not want to tow a vehicle behind a truck, and have a more stress free moving experience. The U-Pack employees that I dealt with, from quote through pick up and delivery, were all professional and courteous. The pricing was competitive. The company charges based on the space that is used. The website includes videos to help calculate space requirements and provides packing tips. The process was easy from scheduling through pick-up and delivery. I was able to track the truck's location online, and the company sends text updates that allow you to easily schedule pick-up and delivery. The three day allowance to pack and three day allowance to unload was sufficient. The only downside is the weight of the ramp and door that separates your belongings from the remainder of the open space in the truck. If someone is trying to do this alone, has limited upper-body strength (the ramp weighs around 120 lbs.) or other physical limitations they will need assistance from a moving company, which U-Pack offers to arrange in most places. We got a pod and loaded our stuff inside and it went from San Diego to New York. As long as you load everything correctly yourself, and pack it tight or use ratchet straps, there will be no issues. Keep in mind it's going to be lifted by a forklift and slid into a truck and maybe eventually a train. It will bounce around during transport like any freight would. Our pod arrived basically on time, and nothing was moved from the way we packed it! They made it easy and convenient for us and we're always there if we had any questions. We relocated from Seattle to San Diego. The initial pickup and service on a Thursday went great. U-pack is really convenient in that they come to you, their containers are really tall for lots of storage. Quite hassle free with competitive pricing. They even will store the containers for a month if you need to find housing. The downside with them is that they don't do delivery on the weekends. Because of this, it completely threw our move off, since we either needed to get an AirBnb or adjust our lease's move-in date. The day was saved by hiring a different moving company that could unload our containers on a Friday. Complete hassle and more $ spent. Buyer beware if you are planning on a weekend move. read more

This was nothing short of insanity. You never spoke to the same person twice when working out details, so each one changed your contract and moved around your original plan. They promised you everything and anything you wanted was just fine. But it wasn't true. They said whatever they could to get the sale. It was like that game where they hide the ball underneath three moving cups and keep moving them. I believe it's called a "Shell" game. I specifically asked for insurance and was told that each container was insured for around $60k. They DID NOT offer any other insurance and didn't tell you that. They tricked you into thinking that you were covered under this $60k. U-Pack works with ABF Freight who did whatever the hell they wanted. Both companies were always on different pages in terms of pick up and delivery and any specific details. The truck drivers were miserable. Once the trucks were on their way, you no longer dealt with U-Pack, you dealt with these miserable idiots at ABF and that was an entirely different game. Either they knew that U-Pack promised things that were not true and weren't going to get on board, or they just sucked as a company. Either way, it was bad. The bulk head was faulty and they were notified as soon as the truck was packed, but they never repaired the damage. Then the container was shifted and tipped up on it's end, due to being loaded on a train (we were told that it was being driven out and planned our arrival back east accordingly), we were NEVER told that it was going to go by train. Nearly $10k worth of damage occured. When we opened the container everything was crammed up near the front. There was no way that it could have been tied into place with that type of radical movement. They agreed that they were negligent, but didn't care. They said "We pay 10 cents a pound for damage." So if your antique bed frame was snapped in half, your handmade kitchen chairs were crushed, and your meticulously wrapped television was blown to crap, you get about $15 for all three. It cost us 8 grand to move from San Diego to Ohio with this company. If you can afford to drive your own U-Haul, try to. At least you know that you care about your stuff and will stand a better chance of it all arriving safely AND you will be offered real insurance, not a shell game of lies. read more

Not only do I trust them with my most valuable treasures, every one from customer service to the truck drivers are so professional. I have never ever had a problem with time. Can Upack please not block handycap access. This box has been in this CLEARLY marked parking space for 2 days. It has been empty for several hours. After more than 30 minutes on the phone, being transfered to 3 people that said that they were not the person that could help, finally some lady (that gave me the impression that she was at least several states away) said the best she could do was to try to have it removed by tomorrow. This is a slap in the face to disabled people. Maybe you have heard the expression "to add insult, to injury" Why is it so hard to have an empty box removed from a spot it should have never been dropped in the first place? read more
