My first time using u pack! I was moving across the country and was very nervous about the whole thing. I kept getting phone calls from " other" moving companys wanting money up front and I wasn't crazy about my stuff being moved around from truck to truck. Upack reps explained every clearly and we're very patient with my many questions! I received email updates throughout the entire process ( I took several weeks to enjoy many stops along my drive). My truck arrived before me and they arranged a time and day convenient for me to receive the truck. Both drivers ( west coast/ easy coast) were both super friendly and helpful answering questions!! I discovered U-Pack by accident while I was trying to figure out logistics for a cross-country move for me and my roommate. The cost was about the same as renting a truck and tow dolly that I would have had to drive myself. For the price I was very happy to have U-Pack take care of everything aside from the actual packing/unpacking of the freight cube, and monthly storage was also exactly what I needed on arrival - they provided that too at a fair price. The entire contents of our one-bedroom apartment fit in the cube with room to spare. Every service rep and truck driver I dealt with was friendly and helpful. Will continue to recommend!! read more

This was a stressful situation but it all worked out. I ordered a semi to be delivered a semi trailer on Friday, they said 8ft wide but actually 9 ft something so it would not fit down a driveway, the u-haul I rented did? So they wanted to charge me for the delivery that did not work, I called and paid more for two Boxes, $350 more? They fit by an inch on each side? careful about the forklift is wide. Now it is Monday and lost two days of packing and it rained (in San Diego)...bummer. Pick up was good, delivery good, all in all excellent way to go, few situation to resolve, cost me a little more but that's life. I would choose again, they wheeled and dealed, wish someone came out to measure before delivery or I went and measured before drop off...worked out. read more

Recently I moved from San Diego to a rather remote area of Colorado, but within a couple hours of Denver. No one would deliver a container for under $4000 to me locally. Upack provided a great alternative. They delivered my container at the prescribed time and I was able to take several days to pack and secure then call when it was good to go. A week and a half later I received the notice it had arrived at the storage center in Denver, rented a uHaul truck, and drove to the center to pick up my cargo. The people at the center were very nice, thoughtful, and shifted the container to an easy place to unload and load directly to the truck in just a few steps. It cost less then if I had driven it in a UHaul myself, and the container was obviously kept safe and in a flat position as my belongings had barely shifted. We found this company through Yelp and have used them twice to move 2 homes across the country. We were uncertain how much spaces we would need, so we ordered the 27 feet trailer, as they only charge us by the foot with a minimum of 5 feet. That proved to be a smart decision since we have space in our driveway to park the trailer. The trailer is taller and can accommodate the items that are too big for the cubes. I am totally happy with this company. The drop off and delivery are on schedule and very smooth. I like that we can edit the move details and track the route of the trailer online. The price is very reasonable and the staff are very courteous and professional. I will definitely use them again for our next move. read more

Had to do cross country move. I checked out multiple options, from UHaul, Pods, Amtrak and professional moving companies, to name a few. In the end UPack provided the most cost efficient option. They dropped off the container right on time, picked them up on time and delivered them as promised. Everyone I spoke with was professional, and very helpful with information. I would highly recommend them. One thing to remember (and UPack tells you this) is to check to see if your home (city) will allow the container to be on the street in front of your house overnight. Some places require a permit, which YOU must get (not UPack). Also some apartment complexes won't allow you to drop at their location. This happened to us, so we had UPack drop it at their local facility and hired local movers to go unload it and bring to our apartment. Throughout all this employees from UPack were very, very helpful. One of the nice options is to have them drop multiple containers. You are not charged for the containers you don't use! This is very helpful if you aren't sure how things will pack in the cube. read more

I was concerned about finding a relatively inexpensive way to ship my items across the country from California to Ohio. U-Pack was helpful from the initial phone call through final retrieval of the emptied cubes at my new home. I appreciated the clear instructions, excellent communication, and general ease of use. Cost was exactly what I was quoted. Moving is stressful enough without worrying about whether your property is going to make it. I moved Thanksgiving week; San Diego to Carson City, NV; as my escrow closed early had three days with the U-cubes to pack and leave. Decided to verify the check list with home office called and spoke to Erika. She have me detailed information regarding setting up pick up and delivery. Since it was a short week as instructed I called early Wed morning to schedule the movers to pick up U-cubes early; get a window when they would come because they were SO busy and closed for 4 days following. I did that and was given a window of 3-6pm. Also was told that they would pick them up if I was not home but never expected them not to check to see if I was there like a knock on the door! Getting to the point of review and complaint: one cube malfunction it jammed and everyday I spent many minutes trying to open. Tuesday I almost called them to come out but finally got it open Thought it was my inability to open. Wednesday I spent another hour trying to open rushed for time I called them and a mechanic came out and told me these old cubes jam up sometimes. He fixed it and I had very little time left to complete loading. He can between noon and 1:00..I left the big things for last my Samsung TV 55 inch 2 yrs old, tempurpedic mattress pad and featherbed, large cat carrier and Dyson vacuum. I locked the unit in between loads as there guys in parking area hanging around. I came out to pack these last few things and the cubes were gone!~! No one even knocked on my door. They came at least one hour before 3-6 window, I was shocked. Everything packed up to that point we're clothes and odds and ends that didn't equal 500.00. What was I to do??They were closed for four days I had to be out by Saturday, I tried to fit into my car but could not so now on top of all the last minute things I had to do I was left with trying to sell these item, unsuccessful so I had to just leave them for new owners!! I tried to reason with the home office about the malfunctioning cube, the time lose, the fact they came early without knocking on my door, I was shocked at their indifference, unresponsive attitude like SORRY.. NOT OK. I should at least been refunded the amount for the second cube which by their calculation was about 650.00 and the total cost was almost 2,000 for both cubes but tax and other things made up the difference. Also I got to my sisters' place unloaded the cube and my fan was cracked, computer stand broke in half and that is the stuff I have discovered so far. Horrible customer service from everyone in both home office and lady in Reno, no one knew what the other did and they were defensive and did not want to reimburse me for the malfunctioning cube..I am on a very limited income and I also had to spend a few hundred dollars for supplies and movers to help me. I am storing the second cube till I find a place and will deal with the charges through my credit card as they are completely unresponsive and will not take any responsibility for their malfunctioning cube and what it COST me..Isn't that what insurance is for?? I would no recommend them..This is a recent experience 11/2019. read more

My daughter moved out of state a couple of years ago. This was the easiest and most efficient way to get her things to her. Even though it is not cheap, the move was so easy. They dropped off at our house in Carlsbad on Tuesday and by the following Tuesday was in Oregon. I couldn't have had an easier move. The originating facility was very helpful from the moment I called for a quote... and then with questions for assistance every step of the way! We packed at the facility in SD and saved even more money! Every estimated timeframe from container availability to transit to delivery to our storage unit facility in MD was met, so no problem lining up helpers to load and unload. I recently moved from San Diego to western Massachusetts using U-Pack. Everything went smoothly, from the initial contact with U-Pack through the pick up of the emptied truck. I went with a truck instead of a cube after reading all the reviews--the truck had slightly more room for bit of a lower price. I had a crew of friends who packed the truck, and everything arrived without a scratch or breakage. The drivers were professional, and the drop-off arrived just as it had been promised. This company is horrible to go through. I recommend no one go through them. When my stuff reached its destination the majority of my stuff was either broken or damaged. Before my stuff left I specifically called and asked about insurance and they reassured me it would be fine. That was a lie. This moving company is an incompetent NIGHTMARE! Because my daughter lived in an apartment building in San Diego with no reserved parking or place to put the containers, we were told that we could have "same day service" (they bring the moving containers in the morning, you pack them and they pick them up the same day). We arranged for 2-containers for this "same day service" weeks before our actual move, but the day of our move, they finally showed up hours late in the afternoon with only 1-container! When we called their "customer service" about this issue, they said they would call us back immediately, BUT NEVER CALLED US BACK AT ALL!!! By the time the guy finally brought the 2nd-container, people my daughter had arranged to help her pack it, had to leave because they had been waiting around all day to help her load the containers and they needed to get to work. The really BIG problem with this scenario is, because they screwed up and only brought 1 of our 2 containers, we couldn't pack the containers carefully to minimize damage to our belongings, and this move was a NIGHTMARE due to trying to use this company. We would have been much better off to pack and drive a moving truck, which would have given us some control over this move and situation. When you contract with and rely on unreliable companies like UPack, you end up with an already stressful move becoming IMPOSSIBLE to accomplish. I would NEVER refer anyone to use this moving service. read more

Overall I had a very good experience with Upack. I moved from San Diego to Southern Virginia as a military Do It Yourself move. The rates were very reasonable and the pickup and drop off times were as requested. The drivers on both sides were very courteous and provided clear instructions on how to load and secure my HH goods. I received great service from Chelsea S. and Scott M. with my questions regarding weight tickets. They could not have been more prompt or helpful. My one hiccup, and unfortunately it was a big one, was with the delivery of my trailer. My driver's manager (Tom Kennedy) refused to allow him to put the trailer next to the building I would be unloading into due to a fear of rain. While I understand the possibility of getting the trailer stuck, the rain never came and this decision caused me an extra 4 hours of unloading time, unacceptable to me as I believe the customer's needs should be first in a situation such as this. I can't let one person's bad decision affect the entire rating so I will still give it 4 stars for the excellent service I received from the other staff members. read more
