    Protein Lover Rice Bowl
    Karyn H.

I Door Dashed from here. Selected the Protein Bowl. omg! So fresh so good. Such a nice portion. Carefully packed and delivered. Base of shiitake-garlic heirloom forbidden & brown rice, chicken, pork, organic tofu, crisp water chestnuts, I added cucumber and pickled onion. The sauce is off the hook. The protein is flavorful. Plentiful. I look forward to finding other locations as I travel. We need you in Folsom!

My manager recommended this spot to my team as a healthy pick since we were fatigued from deciding where to order from (and were regretting the health effects of a particularly large Chick Fil A order from the prior day's overtime dinner), and we really liked it. I ordered the protein lover rice bowl with spicy orange sesame sauce and Sichuan chili oil crunch, along with a coconut greens smoothie (spinach, pineapple, banana, lime juice, and coconut milk). The rice bowl was so filling and full of healthy greens, veggies, and well seasoned meat and tofu. You definitely finish your meal feeling satisfied, and not with that dreaded gut feeling that what you had was way too heavy or greasy for your palate. The coconut greens smoothie was also not too sweet, I was so excited to see that there was no added sugar in this!!! As someone who makes smoothies at home, I always hate when restaurants add sugar or sorbets to theirs. Sometimes I'm a little too lazy to make my own smoothies or don't want to deal with the clean up, but knowing that there's Jamba Juice orders that masquerade as healthy that hit more than half of my daily caloric intake upsets me.

Organic Tofu Rice & Cabbage Bowl

I found Umami Express on DoorDash when seeking for a healthy vegetarian meal near the downtown SJ area. I ordered their organic tofu rice & cabbage bowl and loved it! I like that they have a half rice and cabbage and all rice option in case you are looking for a lower carb meal. Man I wish I could prepare meals like this at home! Also, the portion was so generous. I've been noticing a lot of the newer bowl spots skimp you on the portions and are still pricy. I could have honestly probably stretched this bowl into two portions if I wasn't so hungry. The tofu was nicely seasoned and the orange sesame sauce was delicious! The water chestnuts were a nice touch. Definitely recommend.

So what y'all not gone do, is play in my face! I normally will try to stall a restaurant out but not in this case. This food is OVERPRICED! And just simply does NOT taste good. Even when I tried to add the lil sauce they gave me on the side didn't add any flavor. Nope! don't do it, save your coin & get something else

I love ordering healthy-ish bowls when I'm too lazy or busy to make lunch for myself, and I've had Umami Express on my radar for a while. I like that they have an assortment of protein options with very reasonable prices. I ordered the Organic Tofu Rice and Cabbage Bowl for myself and the Pork Shoulder Rice Bowl for my boyfriend to eat later. I thought my bowl had a great amount of each item, and I really like that the tofu is organic. The Umami rice is also quite tasty. However, the Pork Shoulder Bowl had a pretty small portion of meat. I also get what people mean when they say the bowl itself isn't very flavorful. It does rely heavily on the chili oil crunch and the soy sauce, which are both delicious -- but you'll need a decent amount of it!

The front desk worker is always the same woman; she gets my order and that's all I need! No need for special how are you doing, nice to see you, how's everything nonsense- she's got customers always coming in and they're always busy! Those who know- KNOW. But here's a tip: the phone is unreliable- your best bet for an order would be to come in person**** Portion servings are always way more than you need- there's a TON of value for the price point they give; one of the top reasons of why I always keep coming back. The food is delicious! Definitely recommend the bbq chicken fried rice and sweet and sour pork. Seating area is more so just for waiting for pickup. No sit down and eat since tables are stacked up. Ignore the dust and cobwebs ambiance because trust me the food is worth it. I'm going to go here forever!

The food was decent, I believe it could have been better, but was unique and has a like able taste. Quantity is where evergreen panda excels. The plate was overflowing and was filled with food. I enjoyed it and was somehow able to get everything down. I would come back to this place, especially if i'm very hungry.

Not the same Mayflower that I went to growing up but this place did NOT disappoint…read more We were in the mood for dim sum on the way to the T&T grocery store opening and yelp brought us here. We walked in right at opening to a completely empty dining room. Instead of leaving, we browsed the menu and ordered XLB, pot stickers, jelly fish, and pea sprouts (my personal fav) so glad we didn't leave! The XLB are a nice size, with each precious dumpling cradled in its own foil wrapper for maximum soup retention. The potstickers were full of flavor, packed with protein, delicately wrapped, and had the crispiest, golden bottoms! Jelly fish was fresh and the pea sprouts were a hit! The poor owner answering the phones made sure (in all languages) to inform folks calling in that there were a different May Flower than the other place-felt terrible for her but also understood the importance of differentiating right up front. I can only imagine the number of misorders they have probably dealt with. By the time we were done, the dining room was filled with a mix of what seemed like regulars, locals, large groups of families, small groups of friends... this feels like we stumbled upon a tiny hole in the wall restaurant where everyone who has been before just knows the quality and taste they are going to be getting! Highly recommend you check this place out for a dine in or take out order!

This is one of the handful of American Chinese restaurants that stood the test of time. As is typical of these places, there was an old lady manning the counter and also acting as the server. And as is typical of these places, there was table at the end where they were prepping the fruits and veggies. It's truly remarkable how they are all similar in these ways! We got a couple of dishes and they came out at lightning speed. * Chowmein-3/5- delicious with lots of umami flavor but shockingly greasy. I mean I am used to oily noodles but this one exceeded some limits. *crispy salt and pepper eggplant-3/5- I had a stellar version of this dish at another restaurant in Sunnyvale and was stoked when I saw this on the menu here. Unfortunately it was a poor representation of the dish I loved there. The batter was too much and the dish felt heavy. The hot oil or sauce they had felt old and extremely vinegary as well, I would recommend avoiding it.
