Wow! We just found this place...we were searching for a decent place here in the valley. The food GOOOOD - we ordered the 1/2 rack of Babybacks - very tasty - done just right. And a 1/2 BBQ chicken - fantastic! Our sides were the BBQ beans - ok, collards, very good, cole slaw, passable, and corn on the cob, soggy. We were most impressed with the Q and the friendliness of Andre. The prices are very reasonable. Wouldn't give it high marks for the setting - not with the flat screen blasting sports - but that's just me. Okay, so not much for ambiance...we ate in - and it was serious food, though next time we'll take it to go. They also deliver - another option - call in ahead to make sure you're not waiting too long. We'll be back - and we're glad we found it. read more

Husband surprised me with a full rack of baby backs with fries and bbq beans. Ribs not falling off the bone and were too salty to be really enjoyable. Now I am from Houston and have had BBQ from Austin to Memphis and back and this had neither the tang nor the sweetness from the sauce that I prefer. Couldn't really get past the sodium. read more

Great food . The only issue was the lady that's taking the orders has no knowledge of the menu whatsoever . I ordered fish (red snapper) she said they didn't have it . Great BBQ but my boyfriend and I are insane for the fried chicken. Huge pieces, slightly spicy breading and so juicy! Peppery collard greens and macncheese. I just wish they did biscuits instead of cornbread. Also, the granny made desserts are awesome. Must go! read more

Simply put: Uncle Andre's BBQ is awesome. Do yourself a favor and call ahead (wait 45 minutes or so) and go pick up some of the best BBQ LA has to offer. We recommend the pulled pork/chicken sandwiches, the ribs and absolutely under no circumstances leave without an order of the mac & cheese. read more

Yes the service is pretty abysmal but the food makes up for it. Definitely call ahead. Try and call early for the gumbo on Fridays. Full of shrimp, sausage, and crab legs. Really delicious. We went to try this place after reading all the yelp reviews.. but WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! the baby back ribs and beef ribs were dry and overcooked and they took forever to cook them! The ribs also lacked bbq sauce. The sides - fries, mac and cheese, beans - were all decent but not outstanding. Service was ok. for the record, there is one place in Ontario that very best I've had in SoCal, but nothing in LA County that has that true Southern down-home taste. The place in Ontario is so hole in the wall, I can't even find it online. Sadly, can't remember the name right now. Aunt Kizzy's is okay and so is Phillips. Lucille's is good, but not down-home; it's more like Applebee's or something. Same for Baby Blues in Santa Monica. The best in LA is JayBees, in Gardena. my point in saying all this? I have tried a lot of BBQ. I am not a snob, and can't cook it myself; I just know what I like. For me, I judge it on 1. Sauce 2. meat quality. in that order. Uncle Andre's is possibly the worst BBQ I've ever had. It's so bad, that I won't even eat it for free. I am not joking. My wife really likes it, though and it does smell good. Somehow, the sauce is terrible, horrible. With that said, their fried chicken is excellent, and that is why I continue to go there. For sides, the mac n cheese and baked beans are very good. They are nothing to die for, but are very tasty and go great with the bird. If you get it to go, make sure you double-check the order before leaving. Went there for dinner on Friday night 11/20/15 and I should have left when the lady said that they were out of gumbo and it wasn't even 6 o'clock got the catfish nuggets instead. Took almost a hour and a half to get it. Got home and my fish was black they cooked it in dirty grease. Will not recommend nor order anymore. read more

Being from the south, I pride myself on knowing a good BBQ sauce when I taste it, and Uncle Andre's knows how to make that authentic flavor really stand out. I haven't indulged in any sort of 'good ole artery clogging goodness' since I moved to L.A. last August, so I asked a few friends where the best BBQ joint was close to home. Their resounding response was "Uncle Andre's!". "Try the Combo Plate and get extra sauces Togo" they all said. So that's exactly what I did. BBQ is supposed to taste better the longer it sits, so when I was warned to call ahead at least 30min before pickup, I wasn't shocked. However, what did surprise me was just how worth the wait their food actually was! Tender, fall off the bone ribs; chicken breast so juicy it'd slip right thru my fingers; and the TriTip had little to no fat, cooked to almost near perfection! .. And their 'fixins' weren't too shaby either. Their cole slaw is made with crisp cabbage and has a vinaigrette base instead of straight, gluepee mayonnaise. And their Mac-n-Cheese.. Lets just say the 'side portion' was definitely NOT big enough, especially if you're planning to share! I personally love a BBQ sauce with a firey kick, but the awesome team at Uncle Andre's insisted I try all 3 of their sauces, since some are catered to accentuate the already instilled seasonings of the different meats. And I gotta say, they very well may have switched this long time spicey-kick gal, to the lighter, more savory-sweet side of the BBQ nation. I lived in the neighborhood for many years and always tried to support this business, but I must admit the customer service is horrible. When you order your food, they act annoyed. The food is good and there really is no other place in the valley to get this type of southern food. If you go there just don't be surprised. It's southern food but I'm not sure they have spent a day in the south because they don't have any southern hospitality. If they want to increase their revenue I suggest the first step is to take a class in customer service. read more

I just can't believe how good their seafood gumbo is and I didn't even eat the crab legs! (I was at work and afraid I would spray crab juice all over the paperwork on my desk) Our office placed a large order of the Gumbo, which required us to place the order TWO DAYS in advance! Apparently, they need a headsup so they can go to the store and get enough ingredients. They do not jip you on meat- there must have been two full sasuages, 10 shrimp, 3 crab legs and an enitre thigh of chicken in my large bowl. I only wish they gave you more rice with the large because I could have used more to sop up the broth. By ordering through my office, and someone else picking it up, I clearly avoided some of the service problems that I've heard Andre's has. From just a pure food standpoint, 5 stars! read more

When I moved to Studio City I kept hearing about this Uncle Andres place. Well come to find out it is walking distance from my home. It is a very small place. Nothing extraordinary about its look. However, there isn't one thing that I have ordered that i did not like. The catfish, ribs, cakes, pies, beans and mac n cheese are all scrumptious. I wouldn't recommend eating from here everyday if you r watching your weight but its definitly worth going to on a treat and cheat day. read more

Finally got to this place after living here a while. Awesome ribs. Quality sides. Straight up good BBQ. If you need a bearded guy in a vest to make you a sazarac while you wait for some 40$ ribs...that's a different place. If you need some baby backs that are soft and tender, that stay on the bone but bite off easy, with a good sauce...this is my new place for ribs. They are so damn good I find myself driving all the way from Marina del Rey to Studio City just to get me some :) Their menu is excellent, lots of choices from chicken, angus ribs, beef, they have it all, and it is DELISH!! My boyfriend and I were craving buffalo chicken strips so, even though they weren't listed on the menu, we decided to give Andre's a shot. These might have been the best buffalo chicken strips I've ever had. The chicken was super juicy and the breading was just the right amount of crunchy. My boyfriend also ordered the hot link sandwich that they had as one of their 'lunch specials'. It was also delicious. The sauce was the right amount of sweet and spicy and the bread was super fresh.
