Chicken and skirt steak fajitas for 2
    Emily T.

Quality has definitely gone down since the last time we visited. Service was friendly but a little slow. The food was average on par with what you get at Rosa's. Dining room is well lit. (Super bright) There was a lot of mosquito and flies in the dining room.

Place is packed and we got right in! Plat Gordon for four!!!

The drinks are great, well made and to order. Queso was on point. It and the chips were so tasty, but don't fill up on chips, dips and Queso!! We got the mixed beef and chicken fajitas with 6 jumbo shrimp. Always add the Shrimp, they come 3 to an order. Arm wrestle for the extra shrimp! On a sad note, we are from out of town, they stopped the sopaipilla's and switched to Curro's. They are good, but we miss our sopaipils's.

Came in here for lunch after it reopened. Service was fantastic and our waitress was very attentive. The salsa was slightly bland but the chips were fresh. The queso definitely was creamy and had ok flavor. The Baja fish tacos were good and the mango pico in the salsa was refreshing. The chicken tacos were unfortunately very bland and tasted like they were boiled in water. This place has some good spots but also needs some work.

    Early dinner time.

We decided on an early dinner and hopefully take advantage of Happy Hour prices. We didn't want to sit in the bar area, so we asked to be seated in the dining room. Since we were there for early dining, we asked Miguel, our server, what was available for Happy Hour. He shook his head and said nothing in the main dining room, only in the bar area. Unbelievable, oh well, unsweetened iced tea for the two of us. Since we hadn't had Uncle Julio's fajitas before we decided to split an order for one between the two of us. A hot basket of chips and salsa were soon delivered to our table. Unfortunately, the chips and salsa were underwhelming. In our basket there were several clumps of chips stuck together and were really greasy. Someone in the kitchen wasn't stirring the chips in the fryer well enough. Since the salsa was only OK, we didn't request replacement chips. In a flash, our chicken fajitas, were brought to our table sizzling along with all the accompaniments. In our honest opinion, the fajitas were good but not great. They did have a very nice Mesquite grilled smokey flavor. We left the restaurant with full tummies. Miguel did provide very attentive service during our visit. There were several disappointments during time at Uncle Julio, no happy hour prices in the dining room, so strange, the chips and the so-so fajitas.

Love this place for girls night. The noise level is kinda loud but it has great food. If you wanna share or just have a great meal yourself. The staff are awesome and make sure you have everything you need.

The Uncle Julio's in Austin closed so I always try to make a stop when I am in the Dallas area. The meal starts with free chips and salsa. It is hard to find a restaurant with good chips and salsa, but this is one of them and I am a fan of both. The chips are served warm and are thin and crispy with a good crunch. I love their margaritas that are fresh and made with muddled fruit. My go to order is the Guadalajara that includes mesquite grilled bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp stuffed with Monterey Jack and jalapeño with chicken and beef fajita meat served with flour tortillas, Mexican butter, cheddar cheese, guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. I added diced tomatoes as well. I am not a fan of the Mexican rice or beans. We were able to split the fajitas and there was generous portion size. My favorite dessert is the Mexican piñata, a one of a kind smashable dessert that has fruit and churros inside of a chocolate ball. The restaurant was busy but the server was attentive and efficient. Overall a great dining experience.

The food quality is very, very good. It's got a similar taste and smell as Pappasitos. I love the fajita steak nachos and the chicken fajitas are great too! The flour tortillas are to die for! OMG I had like 3 of those and craved more even though I was full. The have a Chocolate Piñata desert which is fun for kids or birthdays, it's a little pricey but the experience and fresh fruit makes it worth it for special occasions. The menu has changed and so has pricing . I've added the new menu. The drink are always made nice and pretty strong too. The only think I don't care for is that Smokey salsa. I really wish there was another option, because the chips are good, but that dark salsa with that char taste isn't for everyone. Overall it's a clean restaurant with high quality ingredients and flavorful food.

Disappointed for a couple of different reasons. - we wanted to sit outside on the patio and they sat us in a table that was filthy. Chips and rice everywhere on the ground under our feet when there were plenty of other table options near that were clean. Also major delays for getting our drinks and chip refills when it felt like we were the only people out there. - the food just sucked. It felt like everything that came to our table was cold and completely rid of seasoning. We ordered the blackened tilapia tacos and that was the best thing we had all night. The chicken enchiladas were a joke. We asked for the sour cream on the side and they decided to just bring out the chicken wrapped in the tortilla and that's it. Not really sure how they thought that would go... beans were cold and rice was meh. No cheese no vegetables nothing else. - I ordered a margarita with a double pour of tequila. Our server came back and said she was instructed by her manager that she can't do doubles and they would have to charge me for another drink and put the tequila in a shot glass instead of having the bartender mix it in. Never in my life have I had someone refuse to make a double. I was curious why this place was so dead on a Friday night but now it makes perfect sense. It's just not a good restaurant. Save your $$ and go eat somewhere else.

There are 2 servers that are very very good, tall white guy and one lady but the rest are TRASH!!! So if you are looking for great food but can overlook the service this is the place but sometimes even the tasty food can't overcompensate the service. We might not comeback for a bit. Oh and we also saw the son today took our server tip from our table and put it in his pocket! And he didn't clean our table at all. He just pass our table, pocket the $7 and left. And he did not even wait on us at all today! I hope that girl got her tip back! So that was the turning point for us for a while. Watch out for him when you leave cash tip for your server.
