Duck duck duck duck duck duck duck!!! So good!!!
    Tiffany H.

I've never actually been here..but my dad always buys duck from here and it's so juicy, fatty, and meaty!!! I love duck!!! I've literally ate 4 ducks in the past week. I'm not even exaggerating 2 ducks from here and 2 from some other place. The duck here has to be top 5 in San Jose as of today for me. If that changes I'll update the review. Their Lo Mai Gai (sticky rice with meat in lotus leaf wrap) is also really good!!! Can't wait to go here one day to see what else they have.

3.5 lbs of the bbq pork and a half duck. Total cost ~$50. All of it tasted so, so delicious.

This establishment consists of a counter to order meat and a cash register. It looks reasonably clean. One of the two employees--the one handling the meat and cutting it-- spoke enough English for me to place my order. You could also just signal a number corresponding to the item on the menu though so you'd be fine ordering either way. The prices seemed very reasonable. I was debating attempting to make BBQ pork myself and now with this place I know I never will. It all tasted delicious. It was exactly what I was craving.

Uncle Quan has been my new go to place for roasted duck and pork! The pork skin is always crunchy and the meat is juicy! But my favorite is the roasted duck! They are meaty ducks but doesn't have too much fat like some of the other bbq places. I can't speak for their other dishes since I only go here for those two bbq items but I see people often buy the hot deli items. Small shop, only to-go style. Make sure you stand in line or people will try to cut in front of you.

    Braised Cuttlefish - $18 for 1 lb

I decided to stop by this place since it was fairly new and I was craving some crispy pork belly. It's a nice little spot for crispy pork belly and braised cuttlefish, and it's conveniently located near our house. The shop is in a busy area next to an Asian market, so parking can be a bit of a hassle, but it's not too bad. I love coming here for the braised cuttlefish. You can ask them to cut it into strips so you can take it home and stir-fry it. We usually do a fish sauce style dish and it's amazing~ The crispy pork belly is also tasty, not too overpowering with five spice like some other places. Sometimes the skin isn't as crunchy as I'd like, but it's still very good overall. The staff here are always super friendly and sweet. I always called ahead and today when I called in. The lady at the front was kind enough to save me the last piece of braised cuttlefish! The butcher is also very nice. Everyone I've interacted with so far has been helpful and welcoming. They also serve dim sum, which we haven't tried yet but we definitely plan to next time!

    Dimsum and porridge

This review is for takeout: Dim sum is legit good - had shui mai, seafood shui mai, har gow and chicken feet. Pork and preserved egg porridge - very good too! Service: Packaging was secure and safe to ensure the food didn't get tampered with. Can't speak to ambiance yet, but if the takeout represents quality, I'd recommend it!

Old food... weird taste ... please don't buy from this restaurant

Everything was so bad there.... old food made my stomach feel so bad ... dont buy anything here

The decor and ambiance is nice - very spacious and elegant. You can join the waitlist from Yelp - always a plus. Highlights: the har gow were plump with large pieces of shrimp and minimal filler. The dumpling skin was on the thicker side (I don't mind it but my wife likes thinner skins.) Maybe that was needed because of how big these were - really packed with shrimp. The mango pudding was delicious and reminded us of childhood, and the shrimp noodle roll was great. Lowlight: I was less happy with the xiaolongbao - there are so many good options for these in the South Bay that this meager interpretation was frankly bordering on blasphemy. I would not order those again. The steamed char siu bao were far better but still could've used more pork in the filling and were slightly soggy and over steamed. We also had the beef chow fun which was excellent with smoky wok hei flavor. Overall a good place for dim sum but avoid the xiaolongbao.

In general, their dim sum was better than dinner, but tonight's dishes are worth mentioning. The good: 1. steamed lobster with rice vermicelli: good flavor and fresh lobster. All lobster pieces were cut open, making it easy to eat. 2. beef steak with broccoli: the beef was so soft! The 0.5cm thickness makes it perfect size to bite down. 3. BBQ plate: loads of goodies, with my favorite cha siu, jelly fish, and pork belly cubes. 4. Soup with morel and chicken. Loads of morels! Could use a bit more salt but it's not that big a deal. The ones that could be improved: 1. small silver fish fried with egg yolk coating: a bit chewy, but good flavor. 2. sea cucumber stuffed with shrimp paste: indeed a hard to make dish at home, so we were all excited. But the sea cucumber was not well flavored; instead, it tasted quite fishy and earthy. Too bad this expensive dish was only half consumed. The bean sprouts at the bottom were a lot more desirable. 3. salt pepper chicken: it was seasoned with salt and pepper powder, but not cooked with salt at the pan, so the chicken lacks the heat and dryness from salt. At the night, a wedding reception was in place, but we were able to seat at the next room and enjoyed our noisy and loud cheers.

I have not had Fujian fried rice in many years and so trying theirs was was nostalgic. I enjoyed the wetness of the sauce on the fried rice was what I was after. Jade Cathay is a typical Chinese restaurant in terms of service. I'm not docking off a point either since it's not a top priority for places like this -- I prefer not to be too bothered during my meal. Definitely come back here more.

Upon arrival, I found the doors locked; after calling, the staff realized they hadn't unbolted them yet. Despite being the only customer present from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM, I still had a 30-minute wait as the kitchen was prioritizing a large catering order. The server's sincere apology when the food was finally delivered significantly helped erase that frustration. The BBQ Pork: Very flavorful and not too fatty. However, typically priced around $15.00 to $16.00, I found the portion size to be a bit small for the cost and the wait. Beef Chow Mein: A classic staple that was well-prepared, though I prefer the thicker noodle. General Chicken: a solid choice, just the right amount of seasoning. Gailan: Fresh and a perfect balance to the heavier meat items. Overall, the sincerity of the staff and the food quality made up for the initial logistical hiccups.

The food used to be fresh, flavorful, and consistently delicious. Lately, however, it feels like corners are being cut. What makes this especially frustrating is that my group and I used to come here every Sunday and genuinely looked forward to it. It was a regular tradition for us. In my opinion, their system for waiting for tables is a bit chaotic. They do not ask for your phone number; instead, they print out a receipt with a number and call it out when your table is ready. There is a monitor inside the restaurant that you can watch, but since it's so crowded and the way the system is displayed on the screen, it's kind of hard to tell what is going on or what your status is. Service-wise, it's exactly what you would expect from any Chinese restaurant serving dim sum, if you know what I mean. :) Inside, the restaurant is very spacious and large, and I am assuming the reason for the long wait is that it's one of only two places to get dim sum in Milpitas (the other being Mayflower in the other highly packed plaza nearby). They do not serve dim sum with the traditional cart system where dishes are rolled around the dining room. Instead, you order from a menu and mark down how many quantities you want of each item. My family got a variety of dishes, but I'll call out some notable ones: * Their shu mai was juicy and packed with meat, probably one of the best shu mai I've had in the South Bay. * Their har gow skin broke apart really easily, which bummed me out, but it was generously stuffed with shrimp. * My favorite dish was their purple rice rolls. It was basically a Chinese donut stuffed with shrimp and wrapped in a purple glutinous rice roll. * The chicken feet were very balanced and not too sweet. * The truffle scallop dumpling had a rich mushroom flavor, and the scallop added a nice flavor profile. * The BBQ pork was coated well with the char siu sauce. It was tender and bold in flavor. Overall, my experience here was great, but I do not think it warranted more than a 30-minute wait. The food also came out a bit slowly in my opinion, but that was probably due to the high volume of people.

Cane here with a party of 3 for Father's Day, got quickly seated in a side room unfortunately…read morerather than the main area where we could browse carts. We ordered our usual: shrimp rolls, shrimp dumplings, sui mai, salted fish and chicken fried rice, chicken feet. Unfortunately literally every dish came before the sui mai and shrimp dumplings (seriously? its the most popular dish). I'll start off with the good dishes because honestly there were so little, the two best dishes were the siu mai and chicken feet. The siu mai was hearty, flavors were good, and it was large. The chicken feet was cooked perfectly, texture was consistent throughout and the flavors were subtle and well seasoned. Now the fried rice was 25$, I really wanted this to be good. My honest description of it is ‍, the rice was well cooked, shards were fluffy and seasoned nicely yet that was it. The salted fish was rarely seen, youd only notice every 3 spoonfuls and the chicken was passable. Shrimp rice rolls and shrimp dumplings are my stable go tos, I've been eating these dishes since I was small. These two were a complete disappointment, the batter were both chewy and honestly felt TOO thick. Then it seemed like there was a batter of some sort on both shrimp fillings? This cause the shrimp to have bites that were EXTREMELY chewy, like why are rice rolls chewy??? Final bill was 150$ for mid food that came out late and poorly time. Would NOT come here again.
