My wife did reservation Wednesday for 6 people outside in the shade. After a few missed confirmation messages, everything was set. No promises on the porch, but in the shade. After arriving, the welcome two girls, notify us the the porch seating is not available, (they choose to set other people with later reservation on the porch) but the shaded table on the side will be prepared. The service here is outstanding. Due to some scheduling confusion with my MOH, she ended up meeting me at my final wedding walkthrough at Unionville Vineyards over an hour late. This unfortunately trickled over to our lunch reservation time. Since NJ was outdoor dining-only at the time, I was a bit concerned about table availability. I ended up calling once to push our reservation back and a second time time to let the restaurant know we were on our way. Both calls were answered graciously, and they were very kind in seating us without any fuss when we arrived an hour later than scheduled. (I felt terrible about it, but thankfully it was 2 PM on a weekday) They even let me plug-in my rapidly-dying phone to an indoor socket when I explained that I needed it to serve as my GPS! I ordered the Open-Faced Grilled Chicken Sandwich on Chorizo Bread Pudding and boy was it unique! This sandwich is definitely not for the faint of heart. It was simultaneously rich, meaty, and cheesy. The one caveat is that it was a bit challenging to cut & bite the breast with the bread at the same time. Perhaps it'd work better if the chicken was shredded? There were so many Gelato flavors to choose from that they let us taste a few to figure out which we liked best. Unfortunately this restaurant fell short of my expectations. The Ropa Vieja was very good, however, my guest who I took there for her birthday was very disappointed with the Short Rib Noodle Bowl. We both looked in disbelief at what was supposed to be short ribs. It looked like shoe leather and was just as tough. Upon telling our server she made no attempt to offer another entrees and simply added that she would tell the chef. When she brought the check, she said the coffee was on the house, 1 cup. Also cocktails are $15 a pop. Take and tip brought the whole affair to $116.44. A high price tag for a disappointing birthday celebration. read more

We booked lunch at the last minute for 7 people and we were pleasantly surprised. I don't recall the name but it is arugula and shaved brussels in a creamy dressing. It is hands down one of the best salads I have ever had. Loved our dinner so much we decided to cancel our res at another place and come back for an encore on Saturday. Saturday was all about the tapas. We shared 4 between the two of us which is more than enough. These are traditional authentic tapas. They took me right back to my Barcelona days. For desert we had the coconut cream cake. We had brunch at the cafe on a Sunday morning. The breakfast part of the menu is a bit limited in that there were no simple eggs and bacon options but we all found something to order. I ordered a take out lunch here of the shaved Brussel and arugula salad, zucchini frittes, and I asked them to pick out the tapas for me with my only request being that they were low carb. I was told it would be 10 minutes but the order took about 30 minutes to come out. Being over 90 degrees out, having a baby that needed a nap, and being the only people there at that time, it was disappointing to wait so long. The food was very hit and miss. Either excellent or inedible. What was excellent: ~The zucchini frittes appetizer. Super crunchy and came with amazing sauce. I would order just this again. ~Gambas Al Ajillo. It was a garlicy shrimp with lemon and paprika. Very nice. What was awful: ~Manchego. Asian Pear-Lavender Honey. It tasted like it was sprinkled with potpourri and possibly sprayed with bleach. Its concerning that it is being served. This was thrown out. ~ some kind of seafood salad that tasted like it was made from everything that was spoiling in the kitchen. Possibly dressed with a rung out old sponge. My husband ate this one because he was hungry... time will tell how big of a mistake that may have been for him. My cowboy steak bone in was cooked raw with, fresh carrots and side of mash. Yes...I sucked the bone dry and even went in after the marrow!! My wife's chocked was just so yummy and juicy! I've been to this restaurant many times with a great experience. Not this time. The plate of Belgian waffle looked sad and my friend was unhappy that her eggs benedict didn't come with a English muffin. The server was just plain "eh." To top it off we learned of a new policy, they don't take change or give change. The total was $40.29 and if we didn't complain, the restaurant would have just kept our change. The plants, flowering trees, and flowers were beautiful, and we were fortunate to have a beautiful day, which was not too hot. We decided to try their beef empanadas because who doesn't love those, came with two delicious and crispy pieces of heaven.
