When we got there, the girl at the counter was pleasant enough and the ordering process went fairly well. After we sat down, it took a good 10 minutes or so before we got our drinks. The food came about another 5 minutes after (and the place was empty). That was the last time we saw any staff (again, the place was empty). When we saw our plates, we had to laugh as the portions were so small, it looked like a joke (and we are very small eaters). I got the steak and two sides. The tiny piece of meat tasted fine, but it was gone after a few bites. My wife got the shrimp skewer and it came with one skewer with 5 tiny shrimps. Their famed sides were just okay, and the only one I remembered was the mac n cheese which was dry and flavorless. We were both left hungry after the meal, and as I mentioned, we are very small eaters (my wife is 95 lbs). The experience was not super bad, but it definitely was not great. We have no plans of going back. read more

The ambiance here is awesome! It's definitely more Seal Beach than "Long Beach". The food overall is good some of our favorites are Salmon, Steak and Burgers. The service overall is good except for "manager" Eddie who is very unprofessional and lacks appropriate customer service etiquette. read more

My boss is an LBC local who had seen the place, but never dined here. I love UP, so it was a no brainer, we came here for lunch. He ordered the meatloaf plate and I had my go to - the Antioxidant Salad with Salmon. The food was great, but the service is what really stood out to both him and I. Tried Urban Plates for the first time this weekend. I would totally give a 5 out of 5 review but The woman that took our order at the front was somewhat cold and even a bit rude. I disregarded it since I always remind myself that everyone is going through their own thing. Any I'm solely writing this review for Alejandro, our server who brought our food out as well as cleaned up after us. I was with my two small children; he was attentive (offering to get us additional silverware for the kids) and just very friendly. He even gave both my kids cookies as we left. I have wanted to try this restaurant for a while and it seemed to get great reviews. I had to order a door dash delivery, as I'm unable to drive right now. I ordered the surf & turf, with sesame broccoli and mashed potatoes and a side salad. The shrimp and potatoes were good. The steak was dry and overcooked (it was advertised on menu as medium rare..it was well done and extremely tough). The broccoli was not good at all. It came with a slice of grilled bread that was floppy, cold and tasteless. With the tip, I paid over $50 for this meal and I am so very disappointed. read more

Everything I have tried so far has been delicious, especially the chimichurri steak. But this review is specifically because of Sam. I really wanted to try the cobb salad, but because of my specialized diet, I cannot eat dairy right now (the cobb comes with an insanely good buttermilk dill dressing). We ordered through DoorDash, and unfortunately, there isn't an area to request modifications for the salad dressing. The only option I had was to choose from was a "dairy allergy" so I did. When our delivery arrived, I was incredibly impressed to find not only a side of their super YUMMY lemon vinaigrette but a handwritten note explaining why it was included. We've loved Urban Plates since we lived in San Diego. We were so happy to see one close by us now in LB. This location is great, beautiful decor, great service - but the star is the food. Excellent quality all around (which for us is key) and wonderful prices. We even always get the mango tart for my daughter's birthdays per her request! Our kids eat great proteins and lots of veggies every time we're there. We also use the plate pass now each time and get a great discount. Love this place. It's becoming a weekly staple in my life. The cesar salad is so flavorful, and the shaved cheese brings out the dressing perfectly. I'm happy it's cold again, so I can switch back to the vegan tomato soup. The steak plate is actually cooked medium rare, which I find harder to find at fast casual restaurants. All the sides I've tried have been great, and I love that the nutrition information is easily accessible. The food is fresh and leaves you feeling good. Don't sleep on the chicken tenders either. The only thing I would change is they'd ditch a few chardonnay choices and bring back a sauvignon blanc from New Zealand. Staff has always been polite and helpful! read more

Then when someone did show up I decided to order a Salad Nicoise' as I love them, and you don't always see them on the menu! It was absolutely terrible from the lettuce to the lack of ingredients...but the tuna was the worst just terrible, it was petrified! No color and pale brown "searing" with no taste whatsoever! Our teen wasn't a fan of the large lettuce chunks in her caesar salad and would have preferred cherry tomatoes instead of the tomato chunks, but those are personal preferences and does not take away from the fresh and savory taste of the salad.
