The last time I had a very good Poké bowl was on our last vacation to Maui! I found this place on the way to Knott's Berry Farm, and figured why not eat something healthy before we go into the park. Then I went on Yelp and realized there was one in our hometown in Costa Mesa. I can tell you all the ingredients are authentic Japanese. Coming from a Japanese background myself, I give this place a 5/5 cause they have every little ingredient that I love. If you could buy all these ingredients separately, you'd pay a fortune. But they have it all here ! The fish is very fresh, they offer different spices, spicy mayo, Furikake, sesame oil, onions, jalapeno, ponzu, etc , etc. I like to do brown rice or 1/2 white and 1/2 brown rice! The portions are humongous and I can't wait to take my husband here because like I said the last time we had a very good Poké bowl was in Hawaii! Took my friend here and she loved it!! I have been coming here for years on and off, and while I have noticed many positive changes to the front of house the seating is honestly awful. It smells like a literal chuck e cheese sitting in these booths. I couldn't even finish my food, it actually ruined my appetite. If i were to come back here, i would absolutely take my food to go. They haven't changed the booths and tables, even with new ownership a while back. I'm not even suggesting replacing the extremely worn out booth cushions, however the whole wall of booths (including the walls) should be hosed down. read more

Love coming here! Came 3 times in one week so i figured i should post a review. Wether you're on Yelp scoping this place out or happen to go in person it's easy to see it a a popular stop and rightfully so! The offer some premade rolls and other snacks, but the star of the show is the poke. The have lots of topping options and the fish is very fresh. I'm also a huge fan of the house ponzu sauce - i don't feel like you can really go wrong with it. The service is fast so even if there's a line you're usually in and out fairly quickly. I feel like I had all of that at Uroko Cafe and I often have to pick 2/3. Came for lunch on a weekday so pretty low in traffic. FOOD - quality fish, good variety of side choices, good portions, great sauce options. Plated quite beautifully which is a nice surprise SERVICE - standard fast casual AMBIANCE - quite a big space with lots of seating indoors. There are some tables outside too if you prefer. The fish always tastes fresh whenever I come. The interior is super clean and spacious. Whenever I come, I feel like there is always seating. Anyways, what I'm trying to say is you can manage to find a seat both on weekday and weekend. They did raise up the prices again. It is still worth it though in my opinion. My bf and I have been craving raw fish for a while and we decided to try out a new place for poke! We decided to dine-in after reading advice from another yelper saying they give larger portions dining in. We both got poke bowls w/ 5 scoops of protein. They have an abundance of options to choose from and the fish was fresh and delicious. They gave so much fish so we had a ton of leftovers. For $19 for each bowl, it's a pretty great deal! I also like that the tax is included in the price so we paid a total of $38. We also got a free bowl of miso soup for checking in. The miso soup had lots of pieces of tofu and seaweed which I really enjoyed. The only thing I didn't like was that we could only choose 6 complementary add-ins but our bowls were still super loaded nonetheless. They have self-serve water cups and small, cute to go boxes for your leftovers. The place wasn't too busy so service was fast and efficient. Start to finish a bad experience. I ordered a bowl to-go with half rice and half salad. When I asked for a side of chips, the employee removed half the lettuce and hurried me along. I've never encountered this at any of your locations and would have happily paid for the chips if asked. I requested three scoops of spicy tuna, but both times the tub was empty. The employees scraped the bottom, and it would have been ideal to refill the tub instead. When I asked for a correction, the next employee threw away my bowl and refilled it while counting scoops aloud. The service felt rushed and inattentive. Overall, the staff seemed frustrated, and my requests were met with annoyance. While I understand it was busy, I have always enjoyed positive interactions in the past. I visited for dinner on Thursday for the first time. I found this place on Yelp and decided to try it out. I got my food togo but there was plenty of seating inside as it was spacious. The parking lot was a bit busy though. I got the 3 scoop poke bowl with half white rice and half spring mix. You get 6 sides to add on but they all have to be different which I thought was strange. I got the crab meat, spicy crab meat, avocado (no extra charge!!), seaweed salad, cucumbers and white onions. The portions were generous and the spicy crab meat was my favorite. For my fish, I chose 2 scoops of salmon and 1 spicy salmon. Fish quality was pretty good. Didn't taste a difference between the regular and spicy salmon but that's probably because it was all mixed together in my bowl. I just did a simple spicy mayo for my sauce. It didn't taste like the usual spicy mayo you get at other places. I should've asked for more because with all the sides and toppings it made the bowl pretty dry. Last step is toppings and I chose the green onion, garlic chips, fried onion, furikake, and masago. Not sure if there's a limit on these since the menu didn't state so. The order total was $15 and that included tax which I appreciate. I will definitely be back. The portion was very good and the quality of everything was on point. Leaving this review after I did not get a response from Uroko's email or Instagram account. Two weeks ago, I got a bowl and as I am eating, I felt a weird texture while chewing, and pulled out a piece of plastic. At first I first thought okay, mistakes happen sure, but then i continue eating and i feel another bad texture in my bite, and I pull it out and it is a strand of METAL from a metal sponge used for cleaning. After that I reached out to Uroko's email hoping to address my concerns , and have yet to receive a response.I followed up multiple times and then reached out via an Instagram DM and have not heard anything back from that either. Uroko has been my go to poke spot for awhile and I am disappointed that this has happened, but more so disappointed that this concern has not been addressed. I will not be going back. read more
