Wow, Uroko is pretty amazing. Upon walking in, you see the store is very spacious with plenty of tables and seating - perfect for coming with your friends to chat and hang out. You get in line to start creating your own poke bowl. I usually get the 2 scoop because it's filling enough for me, but if I'm extremely hungry I'll get the 3 scoop. Unlike most poke places, your food comes in a little metal bowl/plate if you dine-in. Takeout comes in a paper bowl. There are so many options to add to your bowl. They also have eel sauce, a delicious addition that isn't found in many poke restaurants. Other bonuses here: free miso soup! Warm, delicious miso soup is a great addition to a poke bowl to wash down the fish. Uroko also sells boba! Although it isn't top tier boba (it isn't a boba shop, so I wouldn't expect quality boba), it is still pretty good. My two loves are poke and boba, and being able to get them both in one go, well can't go wrong with that. One thing I would caution is that, while you can ask for multiple sauces (i.e., I ask for the house sauce, sesame oil, and eel sauce), it can get extremely saucy! If you plan on getting more than one sauce, maybe ask the staff to not put too much sauce. My last bowl I got here had so much sauce in it everything was drowning and it was way too salty. Both of my top two go-to poke places closed down within a month of each other, so Uroko is now my new top poke restaurant. I will definitely be coming here very often. read more

I ordered a large poke bowl from here and i got food poisoning when i woke up from my nap. don't order from here their fish is obviously not fresh for me to get food poisoning. i was throwing up for three hours straight after eating from here and constant diarrhea. It was those teary-eyed, heart wrenching throw ups where i thought my gut was going to come up. These throw ups were so intense i started sweating. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. They're disgusting. Pretty standard with everything needed in a Poke line-up. They have everything similar to Pokinometry; however, with more options and drinks! They also give your one free scoop of crabmeat and avocado. I got a three scoop because I wanted a little more fish. My boyfriend opted for the five scoops. The unique thing about this place is that they give you a metal bowl if you are eating for here so yay for self-conscious environmental lovers out there. No waste of plastic! The metal plates are one size so you can really see the difference of how much fish you're getting. I've noticed the prices have gone up compared to last year's menu, which is understandable if their fish is higher quality (?); however, I would not come by frequently since it's pretty pricey. I learned 1 Japanese word after I came here - "Uroko" which means scale, as in the scale of the fish. But, their Uroko comes from a Japanese expression "me kara uroko" which translates to "the scales fell from one's eye" which means someone get surprised with the truth. However, I didn't get surprised at all by their food, it was just a normal poke bowl for me. Well, one thing did surprise me: they charged $1.50 for seaweed salad. This is the first poke shop that I know that charged for that. Everywhere else you can get it for free. This place is not the best poke place, but it's not bad also. Fish was fresh and the Uroko special sauce (citrus based sauce) was delicious. One tip from me is not to chooses the eel as the protein because it was cold and kinda hard to chew. Just stick with the basic: salmon, tuna, yellowtail. read more

Just no.... No no no no. Came in around 4 pm To grab some lunch and I was thoroughly disappointed. Initially, I called in wanting to ask about prices ... No one answered and yelps menu images had the incorrect price so started off not in the best way. Let's start with the service... I was helped by a young man with glasses. Initially the service started Off friendly but he literally made a mess of my bowl and honestly ruined it. I'll explain more in detail.. Ordered a large poke bowl with white rice my fish selection was octopus, salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, and albacore. So the guy gives me half a scoop of avocado and says if I want more it's extra ... No thanks. Then, when we move on to add sauces to the fish I told him the sauces I wanted and then proceeds to add an insane amount of sesame oil without even asking me which completely macerated the whole bowl with this strong, pungent nut smell. DUDE, what if I had a peanut allergy? I DIDNT ASK FOR SESAME OIL. Literally ruined the bowl. To add insult to injury we move on to the topping station and I ask for some sesame seeds, fried onions, furikake, and garlic chips. He proceeds to cover my whole bowl with so much sesame seeds, and garlic chips that it totally ruined the balance. I literally had too much crunch in every bite and it was not pleasant. Ps the sesame flavor is still on my mouth 20 minutes later it's disgusting. Never coming back here again. My experience was ruined because apparently here the employees do what they want ... Just because I ask for recommendations doesn't mean you do what you want to my bowl. I'm asking for an opinion not telling you to make my bowl the way you like it. Uroko Cafe genuinely has good quality fish and is overall at the higher end of most poke places. The only reason why I didn't give this place a 5/5 was because you're only allowed to have 'this or that' options. For example, I'm someone who typically orders both avocado AND seaweed salad but this place only allows you to get one which in my opinion, is such a ripoff?? because I don't get crabmeat or other toppings like mango & pineapple on my poke so I felt like that rule was not worth the money I spent there. I typically get a medium (3 proteins) and this place charges around $11-12 which is kind of insane for me BUT the portions are reasonable so I guess that justifies the price? It's to you honestly! Uroko cafe isn't anything special or out of the ordinary but they do have good quality poke. All in all, I would come back again if I'm in the area but not often! read more

MY FAVORITE POKE PLACE!! Every time I come here, I am greeted with great service and leave with a full happy tummy. No matter what size you choose your poke bowl to be, the workers will stack your poke bowl into a mountain of fresh fish and tasty toppings and sides. They have a lot of protein to choose from, even tofu or edamame for vegetarians! My favorite of the protein has to be the eel. It can be a little bit salty sometimes, but the seasoning is still very yummy. The best topping? GARLIC CHIPS. A must if you like anything garlic or just want a crunch to your poke bowl! So many options for those who like variety when they eat poke. Serving style is similar to chipotle. Lots of protein choices. They even have vegan friendly and cooked proteins for those who don't eat fish or raw fish. I couldn't decide on a protein (because they all sounded awesome) so the guy let me sample a few. What I loved most is that they offer furikake as one of the toppings!! Another pro was that their Uroko sauce includes sesame oil. My favorite! You're not only limited to the Uroko sauce, they have other sauce options too. Great flavor compared to the poke spots nearby. Space is large with lots of places to sit. Literally the best place to get poke!!!! So fresh, fast, and they have a boba bar!! The vibe here is cool too.

My office really goes crazy for this place. Its common to see 6 or 7 of my office mates here at one time. The poke hall talk starts about 10 and increases from there. I like that this place is set up nice for large crowds. The line can be out the door and you will still most likely find a spot to sit and eat. They are very fresh and the food is good. Im still a poke novice so Im getting used to it. Im looking forward to my 3rd visit because I think I know how I want to order my bowl next run. The tea is excellent and that's a biggie for me. Uroko was a great place like all new food businesses in the beginning, unfortunately they've reached the point where all good things come to an end! The quality has been critically low and affected by greedy business owners. Trying to cut corners on quality to make an extra buck only affects negatively a business (grows your profits temporarily), some business owners who see a growth in their business get greedy and start making changes that affect in the long run, and starting to charge for items that have been included just to add more money to their pockets adds a bitter taste for a client. Hopefully quality can be restored and the business will go back to its original beginnings! read more

If I could give Uroko a 6/5 I would. This was the one place that got me into Poke and it's something I constantly crave now. I used to be very hesitant about eating raw fish, let alone sushi, but this restaurant changed everything for me. I usually get either their Salmon or Tuna and they're very consistent with how they present it and their freshness. They also offer miso soup (some times free depending on the deal) and as basic as it is, it's really really good. Every time my friends want to eat out, I always always suggest Uroko. Unfortunately, they recently raised their prices and made portions a little smaller. I hope they change it back soon because my wallet cries every time I go. This place is a huge disappointment. I don't get all the great reviews. I had a few tinky chunks of meat and loads of spicy mayo over rice. The server told me the meat dissapeares when mixed with the mayo, what the heck! The dish was an awful mush. I did order this for pick up and perhaps you get a more palatable bowl if you come in to place an order. There way better poke at the Camp down the street a bit. Of all the poke places I've been to, this one is by far the absolute best. I was greeted by workers when I entered and they helped me to navigate their menu and begin crafting my bowl. They're very generous with the portions of meat they put in your bowl and have a very large variety of toppings and sauces. The restaurant is very clean and spacious with themed decorations on the walls. The poke itself was AMAZING. The sauces and toppings that they use are without a doubt the best that I've ever tasted, I highly recommend the garlic topping! I got two scoops of salmon and one of tuna, and the meat was so flavorful and fresh. My bowl was around $10, and considering the quality of the food, service, and surrounding, I definitely believe this place beats any other poke at the same price. This place combines the fast, efficient ordering styles of places like Subway or Chipotle with its own superior food and style, effectively creating a poke experience unlike any other. My only wish is that this place was closer to my house, but it's definitely a place I'll be grabbing dinner from if I happen to be at Southcoast Plaza or The LAB. "me kara uroko" indeed! read more

Delicious, fresh, friendly, clean! Nice bright, big open place, too. Best poke bar we've been too (And we've been to several)! I'm trying to eat very clean - no sugar, oil or salt, as little as possible anyway and love they you can get broccoli as your base, too. Did half brown rice and half broccoli, toppings of mango, roasted corn, beets (there were more choices, but I doubled up on these). Then some fresh tuna and shrimp. Most of their yummy sauces are made with salt and sugar, so server suggested fresh squeezed lime juice and just a tad of sesame oil, and a tiny bit low sodium soy sauce. Shame on you guys for not supporting customer loyalty. My sister went all the time here to get food for her firm nearby. She collected 20 stamps = 2 free meals. Sometimes I'd meet her here during her lunch break. With covid we stopped going here. Came back today and they don't accept the stamps anymore. There's no fine print or expiration date on the cards. The manager said the cards are five years old which is impossible because my sister hasn't even been at the firm for 5 years. They said they could only give us $10 off...clearly my sister is a repeat customer with TWENTY stamps, they could not even honor it? That's a minimum of $200 of a customer's money if it's just the smallest bowl per stamp. We won't be coming back and when the firm opens again, they won't be getting their business either. read more

Had to lower my rating this time around because the quality of the fish has worsened over time. But before that I would like to give an update of the whole store since they did change a few things around the restaurant. Pricing has increased from $8, $10, and $12 dollars to $10, $12, and $14. Probably necessary because of economic change. The base like rice and salad are the same except for now they have Steamed or Boiled broccoli, couldn't tell by the looks of it but it's there now. The side proteins/dishes have changes as well. They have 2 options of "crab" meat regular or spicy, 2 options of either avacado or seaweed salad, edamame (not part of the main proteins anymore) and/or roasted corn, and the same cucumber and white onion. Now as for the main proteins they have changed drastically by removing a few of the less ordered fish such as yellow tail, albacore, and possibly 2 more but I've forgotten the others. Now onto what the issue I had stated about the fish, if they are cutting it in house into cubes or receiving it as it is there needs to be a quality check. For example checking for sinew in the tuna or salmon since it is literally inedible and not very pleasant to chew on. I ordered tuna with the sinew attached to it I'm reluctant to order it again and for this reason I had to lower my rating by 1. This establishment is great for a poke fix but just need some minor adjustments to be fixed to make it better again. read more

I love this place for poké! They have fresh ingredients and plenty of options. My favorite part is that they let you add your own extra toppings at the end with a topping bar. They double as a boba milk tea shop, and the taro boba is delicious. read more

We ended up here because a friend was craving poke and we wanted to try something new. Upon walking in, I was quite surprised at how spacious it was. Another thing I noticed was that it was hotter than hell inside the restaurant and they only had fans trying to regulate the temperature -- hopefully it was just broken on the day we went, but it was definitely stuffy and I'm glad we didn't stay too long. Though the restaurant was super hot, the service was super cold. The guy helping us behind the counter could really care less about offering suggestions or the questions we were asking. In fact, he rolled his eyes several times during the transaction and when we asked about particular sauces, he said he didn't know what was good because he never tried any of them. Eh, okay - thanks... you do work here, right? Once Mr. Freeze handed us off to the cashier, everything was okay again. She was super friendly and ended things on a high note. We split a large bowl that comes with five fishy choices, so we did a double of spicy tuna and shrimp and a single of salmon. You get to pick your rice, flavoring and veggie options before being sent off to eat. The food and portion sizes were good and I thought the $10.75 price tag was reasonable for the customization and the amount of seafood that came with it. Parking is pretty easy in the back, but during lunch hours it can get pretty busy. read more

Poke places have literally exploded in Orange County. I feel like there's a new place opening somewhere every week! This place stands out because of their generous portions of fish, as well as the extensive selection. They have salmon, spicy tuna, albacore, shrimp, tempura, yellowtail. It would be nice to see scallop make its way on the menu. You basically walk down an assembly line and build your bowl however you like, starting with rice (brown or white) and or a salad mix. Then you pick your sides (pro tip: ask them the mix it in with your proteins, you'll thank me later). Next is the selection of fish, up to 5 scoops for a large bowl, and you can get multiple scoops of a fish. I normally do salmon and yellowtail because they always look the freshest. There isn't a large variety of sauces to pick from, but that's okay. Their citrus based soy sauce is pretty good, with multiple levels of spice, and you can also add spicy mayo or miso to it. Sesame oil is available as well. Finish off your bowl with a variety of toppings: wasabi, masago, ginger, furikake seasoning, garlic chips, sesame seeds and seaweed salad (which is an upcharge). The prices listed already have tax included, which is pretty nice, but $12 is a biiiit steep for a large bowl compared to other places. I don't mind too much because other places don't have yellowtail and aren't as generous with their scoops. Grab a soda (free if you check in on Yelp), and get ready to enjoy some delicious fresh poke! This place can be a bit hard to find as the parking lot and entrance is kind of hidden. You have to drive down a narrow driveway to get to the parking lot, so be mindful of that when you're looking for this place. read more

Poke heaven right here! Uroko Cafe has become my favorite place to get poke. When I'm craving some poke, this is the first place to comes to mind! The prices are great, the service is always quick, and the quality of their selections are fresh. They have an assembly line. At the first stop, you pick your base: white rice, brown rice, salad, half rice and half salad, a wrap, or chips. At the second stop, you pick your sides: cucumber, imitation crab, avocado, and white onions. I really like that they don't charge extra for avocado. Many other places are starting to do that so I really hope Uroko keeps this going! Next, you pick your proteins. With a small bowl for $7 you get 2 toppings. Medium $8.75 you get 3 toppings and a large bowl $10.75 you get to pick 5 toppings. I love getting the medium bowl bc I have about 1/3 leftover at the end to have as a snack later in the day. My favorite choices for toppings are salmon, tuna, scallops, and yellowtail. For those looking for cooked items, they have shrimp, octopus, tofu, and edamame. You also get to pick your level of spiciness/sauce. I always opt for their creamy spicy mayo. At the final station, you pick your toppings which include green onions, masago, ginger, seaweed sprinkles, and garlic chips. Make sure to get the garlic chips! My biggest tip to leave you with is to be weary of the lunch rush. The parking lot of quite small so you might have trouble with that.
