This is an amazing place to have a nice Italian meal in downtown Pensacola! I highly recommend eating here!

Went here with a group of friends on a Saturday night. The place was packed, but the service was still great. We ordered the bruschetta and the meat and cheese tray for apps. They were both very good. They also give you bread with oil and balsamic vinegar, olives, and a cheese spread. All very delicious. Everyone liked their food. We ordered Alfredo with shrimp ( sauce was wonderful, but a little heavy; although it's cream so it's to be expected), chicken Marsala ( great Marsala sauce and chicken was cooked perfectly with a side of mashed potatoes and spinach; this was everyone's favorite), swordfish Angelina ( swordfish steak with risotto; risotto was yummy, but I thought the fish lacked flavor), pasta primavera with shrimp and mussels ( this was very light and missing some flavor; I didn't care for it very much) and finally lasagna ( I didn't try this, but my friend said it was just ok.) We also got dessert. It was all very good and a great dining experience for Pensacola. read more

First Italian restaurant I've tried out here since moving from Los Angeles. Ambiance was great & service also great. My husbands dish was good he had the Chicken Parmigiana & I had the Salsiccia Fra Diavolo as much as I wanted to love it I couldn't get pass how rich it was the Gorgonzola was to strong & over powered the dish. I still want to come back to try other dishes as my sister in law & husband liked theirs. I am hoping to see some Ghocchi dish with no duck & some Lobster Ravioli. read more

We ended up at V Paul's since the first 3 restaurants we stopped at had wait times of over an hour. We walked right in and were seated immediately. Our waitress was super friendly and gave us suggestions for every part of the meal. We had the bruschetta trio as an appetizer and it was not what I was expecting at all-- but in a good way! One of the flavors has strawberry and a pesto mixture on it. Such an unexpected combination, but SO yummy! I had the scallops for my entree and it was fantastic. It was cooked to perfection and was loaded with flavor! Even the risotto/cauliflower mash mixture it was plated on was amazing and not bland! Their creme brûlée is a pretty standard recipe, but was the perfect size for one person. Excellent location for a date night-- it has a quiet and intimate atmosphere and their music selection is perfect (think 1920s + love songs from the 60s + Michael Buble). Even though it's an Italian restaurant, I was able to get the seafood that I was craving with an Italian spin on it. I was also a fan of their extensive wine menu. We got so caught up in talking that we didn't even realize that everyone had left the restaurant, yet our waitress let us stay long after closing and didn't want to interrupt. We apologized profusely for staying so long after they had closed, but they insisted it was not a problem at all and that we were welcome to continue sitting while they finished closing up. This restaurant was everything I had hoped it would be. The ambience, with wonderful music and beautiful aesthetics, was perfect for my small group of friends as we enjoyed a relaxing supper before taking in a show at the nearby Saenger. Our server, Topher (I hope I spelled that correctly), was extremely congenial and did not lead us astray when answering our many questions. All the food was presented beautifully. The caprese salad was all I expected. The Lasagna Bolognese was delicious and did not leave me with the heavy feeling I typically have after eating Italian. I highly recommend the sea salt caramel cheesecake for dessert. A friend ordered the creme brulee, and the sample I took was tasty. My drink of choice, the Godfather - a wonderful blend of whiskey and amoretto, was excellent as well. It's not an outing I can afford on a regular basis, but definitely one I'd like to make again if I return to Pensacola for another show. read more

This restaurant has been a favorite of ours ever since we started coming to Pensacola several years ago. The meatballs and spaghetti have always been a favorite. I have to say that our takeout was not what I remembered. The meatballs were over powered by garlic and not otherwise flavorful. The sauce was the color of tomato soup. The trio brushetta appetizer is delish. Sad to see the beef carpaccio is no longer on the menu though. Wait staff was friendly. We went on a Saturday evening around 6:30 and kitchen was backed up. Took over an hour to get our entree's. We enjoyed our spacious, intimate booth and drinks were good. The chicken Marsala was tasty! My husbands spaghetti and meatballs were a little dry. This is our second visit here and not as good as the first. I really like the ambiance of this restaurant, it has an upscale feel while not overly strong on the cost. However, except for the duck entree, none of us really cared for our meals. The Alfredo was recommended but turned out to be pasty instead of creamy. The seafood pasta was a LOT of pasta with not much seafood, and my guests said the seafood just didn't have much in the way of flavor. Personally, after smelling the OVERWHELMING fishy smell of this entree, I would never order this meal. My Veal Marsala sat atop a bowl of mashed potatoes with a bit of sauce poured over, not much. This is a horrible way to enjoy Marsala sauce and veal. I couldn't cut the meat without it being drenched in mashed potatoes and the whole thing turned into something more like a Shepard's Pie than a fine meal. What a waste. The prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato and basil appetizer was a tasty combination on bruschetta. The charcuterie board was fine, but not impressive. The service was good, Jessica was very nice. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo (half portion) and my boyfriend ordered the Salsiccia Fra Diavolo; he said it's his new favorite pasta dish. I've been to V Paul's a few times. The first time, we went right after it opened for a celebratory dinner. I was impressed with the food and service then, but it had that sad feeling of a good restaurant that was empty. Subsequent times, it's been great. The food is top notch, staff is friendly, overall great place for a date or just night downtown. It has a good mix of fancy atmosphere and casual. (I feel like I could show up in a suit and tie or jeans and t-shirt and it wouldn't be weird, which I like). The food is great. My favorite is their fettuccine Alfredo, which sounds crazy but try it. I like the one with spinach and mushrooms. Appetizer wise, I like their calamari. It's weird they serve is with assorted fried "other stuff", like peppers, pickles, you know. At first it was weird, but it's actually pretty good. Overall, I like this place a lot. Skip the whole olive garden thing and try these guys. read more

It's always a rule of mine that if an establishment is not a 4-5 star on the first try, I must go back. The first time I visited V Paul's was in the fall of 2014. We were celebrating our anniversary and we chose to go to V Paul's. The food was lackluster on that visit, though we did get free dessert, which we chose the gelato trio and it was okay. Our rating then was 3/5 stars. After visiting V Paul's last night for a second time, with a reservation of 6, (one person canceled last minute, making it a party of 5) I gladly type that I will not be back. I had a water to drink (tap) and had to pay for a bottle of water because the water they served had this aftertaste. We ordered the bruschetta trio and that was delicious. I ordered the lobster bisque and was dissapointed. The main ingredient I tasted was the cream. There was so much cream that the color was a light orange instead of a light red. As a pescatarian (the only meat I eat is from the sea) I was looking forward to trying their seafood pasta. However at 6 PM (V Pauls had been open for only 1.5 hours) they were sold out of the seafood ravioli and their seafood pasta. Whenever I order, I have a back up option just in case, but either the items were cooked with a beef broth, had meat, or they were out of the options that I wanted to try. I finally settled on the Crusted tuna appetizer with pickled onions and a tomato jam. This was the best thing I had at V Paul's. I ordered the octopus salad and while the greens were seasoned appropriately, the octopus was burnt and dried and just disgusting. Since we were celebrating my dad's birthday, I chose not to ruin the atmosphere and complain to the manager, but our waitress was very aware of my dissatisfaction. Our waitress did nothing to accommodate for the lackluster of a meal I had. My father did get free dessert since we were celebrating his birthday. While he had the caramel cheesecake, I shared the tiramisu with my brother and while I no longer visit Olive Garden like I did in high school, OG's tiramisu is definitely better. Definitely will not return. The service was atrocious; the waitress was insultingly unattentive, she could not remember a single item on the menu without reading her cheatsheet, she then charged us for the wrong meal as well as our meal because she couldn't keep this straight despite it being a slow night. The atmosphere is awful; a pianist playing what sounded like a childs rendition of Randy Newman songs at a volume so loud that you need to yell in order to have a conversation with those at your table. The food itself was awful; a meat and cheese board with very low quality ingredients and no assortment of flavors, soggy pasta, stale bread, overpriced wines. How this restaurant won best Italian food in Pensacola four years running is a bit surprising to me. The eggplant Parmesan was probably the worst I have ever had. The fried artichoke hearts were terrible as well, they were pickled artichokes not fresh! The steak and shrimp were good but nothing special. The broccolini had been cooked to mush and the roasted potatoes were still crunchy. This is the first and last time I ever eat at this restaurant. It was the worst restaurant I've eaten at in Pensacola. I was blown away by how awful it was! Our server was fabulous and so was the atmosphere. read more

The most notably difference between V Paul's and every other restaurant in town is ambience. Read silence, which brings the ability to have a quiet adult conversation with your Wife. Time and money well spent. Beginning with the lobster bisque and moving on to scallop and Caesar salads, the prelude spoke of fine dining. I had the seafood pasta and my wife had the chicken Marsala. All extremely well prepared and brought to the table fresh from the kitchen. All staff were present, polite and attentive and we left fully sated. The price tag was appropriate for fresh made Italian cooked to your specific request. No bottomless salad or bread sticks need apply. This is real Italian food. read more
