This place had an excellent selection of wine. A lot of the wine here is from places you wouldn't normally be able to find/purchase. If you really know you're wine, I believe you would be impressed with the selection. If you don't really know your wine, that's OK! Be sure and ask a staff member for help. How cool is this wineshop! Not sure who is running V Wine Cellar but its obvious they're wine geeks with a pulse on what is hip and outside the box for your traditional wineshop. I bought a $16 bottle of Austrian wine (no corkage!) and sat down in their lounge to watch World Cup Soccer on a flatscreen - in the middle of what had to be thousands of bottles of wine from all over the world - not just California. I even was able to get a cheese and salumi plate to take the edge off while watching the game. They even have a deck and seperate patio outside if you prefer to drink your wine "al fresco" As far as the wine selections, I have limited means - so I dont usually spend over $20 bucks on a bottle. I had no problem finding values - but if you like to spend the big bucks - these guys have cult wine and old vintages from Europe and beyond going back to the 60"s! The least attentive staff of any off-sale shop of its scale, completely clueless of customer experience and lifetime experience. The culture is of egotistical, self-absorbed snobs who pay attention only to those clientele to whom they are physically attracted to. It is a nice space, and they do have some interesting wine-related gifts, but it this place is definitely set up to fleece tourists. If you live in the Bay Area, there are lots of places you can go to get a good selection and far better prices. Very nice shop, wide selection, very good salespeople...until, you go across the street to the supermarket, and find the same wine at 35% less. We went back to the store to ask why their price is so high, and maybe get a discount or some consideration for buying overpriced bottles of wine, and the answer: We can't refund you , this is a business, and ..... YOU ARE RICH! If you think that just because we walk into your store it means we are rich, and just because we may be rich, you can fleece tourists, you are in for a surprise. Nobody likes to be talked to that way. I will never go into your store again, if I ever go back to Napa. I will certainly tell everyone I know who does travel to Napa regularly, not to buy from you. There are plenty of places to buy wine, and there is no need to give our business to someone with this attitude. read more

After a walk through French Laundry's gardens, we walked toward the middle of Yountville's touristy area. In V Marketplace, there are boutiques, a restaurant, chocolaterie, and V Wine. V Wine is a very cool spot and definitely worth your checking out. Go figure that my husband and I end up in Napa during a phase in which we're more into beer than wine. So why did we go into V Wine? Well, we're in Napa and V Wine looked like a fun store. The lighting, the scent, the columns of wine, and the wine-related trinkets drew us in. Once in, hubby discovered two small refrigerators in the back corner of the store, housing a decent small selection of craft beers. We also discovered V Wine had covered outdoor seating. HALLELUJAH! C'mon y'all, it doesn't get much better than sitting outside on a sunny day in Napa Valley California, surrounded by beautiful mountains, and gettin' a buzz on from a fine beverage. V Wine I will never forget, not only because of the perfect experience, but because it is there I was introduced to Russian River Beers. V Wine Cellar has changed my life!!!! I call it Ground Zero in the Napa Valley. There is a deck and patio with tables, a lounge with comfy sofas and leather arm chairs, and several nooks and crannys where you can taste wines and cheeses with your closest friends. The right lighting and music (and company) help set the tone for some of the best wine and food pairings I have ever had! Why do I call it Ground Zero? Because when I come to Yountville, I always stop in at V Wine Cellar first, to see what is new and hot, and to get my stay started out on the right track. This is where I start my Napa Valley Journey each time, and I have to say, these guys know how to take care! With the amount of wine knowlege the staff has there, you could open a wine university. I visited V Wine Cellar this past weekend. My husband and I were meeting up with his family for dinner at Bottega. We had some time before our reservation so we decided to venture into the building. As soon as we opened the door we were invited into V Wine Cellar for a wine tasting. It was fantastic, and free. We tasted about 7 rose wines and there was even complimentary cheese and crackers in the back in front of the tv. I would have tore that cheese up if I didn't have dinner plans! The vendors and wine makers were really nice and chatty about their wines, all of them were tasty, I would have bought any of the wines I tasted. Horrible service. I have been into this place several times over the past 7 years. Each time the service was lacking, to say the least. This last (and final) experience was the worst ever. I came i with my husband to buy a special bottle of wine for our anniversary. We had hoped to speak with someone regarding a couple of their higher end wines that were locked in a case at the back of the store. I approached the counter to ask for help. The girl behind the counter (young, short hair) gave me what can only be described as a glacial glare when I tried to engage with her. This was after standing there for quite some time being ignored... She had been chatting for a good while with another young customer and she made me feel like I was trying to barge in on the middle of a personal date.. it was actually quite incredible. We browsed for a bit then left, empty handed and offended. As we were leaving, this same girl, and the guy, were sitting out on the back patio drinking glasses of wine... Thanks so much for the friendly and amazing service. We recently moved to Napa and will not be returning to this place. Ever. read more
