I came here to buy some pan de sal for Christmas Eve. Their pan de sal comes out hot and is super fresh. I love that they have a selection of Filipino pastries. What a rip off. I just ate one of their steamed chicken siopao and it seemed like it was 10% chicken and 90% bread. if you read their ingredients listing on the package; it shows chicken as thee majority ingredient by weight which is impossible. Flour is not even listed on their ingredients list on the package. I have siopao from other places and it seems like the ratio is closer to 50-60% meat. I'm going to have to report this to a goverment agency for what I believe is false advertising and innacurrate ingredient by weight listing. Never again. read more

My boyfriend and I popped into Valerio's Bakery on a whim to try out some treats he grew up with in Pampanga. The pan de coco and pan de ube are graciously filled, the bread is soft, the turon is crispy and delicious, and the bibingka is to die for. Absolutely recommend! read more

I'm definitely a big fan of bakeries, a Filipino one at that. This place has a love hate relationship with me. The only reason I keep coming back is because my husband and I are addicted to their Turon, fried banana eggroll. Now the reason why this place got a 3 stars because for some time now some of their goods have not tasted well. Their cheese permiento bread that I used to love is no longer the same. The bread is hard and there was literally barely enough cheese inside. I'm talking about two tablespoons worth. They also have this 40% off section for day old bread but have come to realize that I've paid full price. So check your receipts! Last but not least I hate being rushed. I've stood their for about 5 seconds and I've been asked plenty of times if I was ready to pay. I haven't even looked around yet. Other than that, try their FRESH pandesal. Lol read more

$2.25 for a dozen Pan De Sal. The pan de sal bread tastes so very good when they are hot and fresh. Fortunately, the bread we received today was fresh from the oven! The dozen pan de sal comes in a brown bag. They also give a plastic bag so we can transfer the bread later after it cools in order to keep it fresher longer. Yeah, I'm a fan of this particular location. The place was also pretty tidy inside, and the service was good as well. I'm not a fan of everything they bake, but as long as they have that hot and fresh pan de sal....we will continue to come back. read more

My family and I have been loyal customers of Valerio's Bakery for a long time. Their pan de sals always come out hot and fresh. The bread is soft and delicious, you can dip it in coffee or put Cheez Wiz or Nutella in it. You can get a dozen pandesal for $3-$4, really cheap! I also love their cassava cakes! Thanks to my aunt, I will always have fond memories of this bakery. Before a long trip to Las Vegas one time (she's cool like that), she decided to pick up empanadas (filled with meat/potatoes), and other Filipino delicacies. This is a great place to pick up snacks/small bites if you're ever going on a long road trip, or just picking up something to munch on while watching the game or when you feel just like munching on something. Very disappointing! The mongo bread looks real good from the outside. It was ooooozing with the mongo filling! Once you bite on it, it would remind you of movie theatre sandwiches in the Philippines. The ham and cheese are all oozing out but inside it's all mayo. With this mongo bread, you could barely see an outline of the mongo filling! What a waste for your buck. read more

Please change gloves when handling bread after helping customer pay. It's unsanitary to use the same gloves when handling breads. Also, notice one of the lady cleaned the utility cart without changing her gloves and attended to another customer. Ensure your workers are washing their hands often please. read more

The coconut pie here is to DIE for. We haven't tried anything else here because we are too obsessed with that pie. It's got this gorgeous yellow custard with coconut skin (the white part) near the crust at the bottom. The coconut used is the perfect amount white the custard brings the sweetness to the pie. I haven't met anyone who doesn't like this, and I don't even like pies. They are a small bakery and they sell a lot of other Filipino desserts that I one day hope to have the courage to try! :) will post a picture next time when I get the pie again, probably this week! read more

Although there was a line at 7am to get fresh Pan De Sal, the line went really quickly. As fast as the ladies behind the counter could put the hot, freshly baked breads in a bag fast. The Pan De Sal was heavenly. Perfectly cooked, it was still steaming in the bag by the time I got them home. These are definitiely worth a trip for. However I also tried their chicken and beef empanadas. These I was not a fan of. The chicken had this weird ground up texture and the beef was a bit too sweet for my taste. read more

Nothing brings more happiness than smelling fresh baked bread on a cold morning during the weekends. To be honest, since I've been a kid, their fresh baked pan de sal is all I've gotten. I've never had any of their other goods nor had any problems with the service there. Though you can get a dozen, I've mostly opt to get half a dozen. Less than two bucks. And you can take home six of their lovely rolls packed in a paper bag all nice and hot. Makes the inside of your car smell so good... if, that is, you don't devour it all by the time you get home. 2014 YELP 365 CHALLENGE - 292/365 Came here for the other night with my roommate. I've never been to Valerio's before but apparently it's a popular Filipino bakery that is often associated with Seafood City. They had a large variety of baked goods, most of which which different types of breads. We purchased the ube pan de sal. They had a bunch of others but those were the only ones I was interested in getting. They also had a refrigerator that had some beverages, and cold desserts like cassava cake, etc. At the counter that had other sweeter items. I ended up purchasing the sapin sapin. They also had egg pie, which I was tempted to get, but ended up not getting. I was kinda disappointed by the selection. Maybe this is just how they are, but I was expecting a larger assortment of desserts. It was mostly just bready items. Also, the woman working there was annoying me. As soon as she walked in, she talked to us and asked if we were ready to pay. Um, I literally just walked into the store 10 seconds ago, so no, I'm not ready to pay. Impatient, much? Then when we were paying, she insisted we buy some of their siopao, but I didn't want one... She asked us like 3 or 4 times. In addition, she also asked some personal questions to my roommate and I thought it was kinda rude. Overall, ok bakery. I haven't tried the items we bought yet but I'm sure they will be good. I arrived here in the "states" from Philippines when I was 6 years old. And ever since then I had NOT and I say NOT had any type of Filipino food, pastries, deserts etc. My dad and step mother were VERY and I say VERY Americanized. Hell, they didn't even speak Tagalog in our house nor watched TFC... So sad.... After receiving my driver's license and my new whip at the age of 16 I went to Valerio Bakery which was recommended by a fellow Pinoy. I arrived and oh man, it smelled like back home.. And when I say back home I mean the P.I. baby. I felt like I was back in my grandma's house again waiting for her to cook some of her fresh empanadas, puto, and other goods. Velerio does a great job bringing traditional baked eats in the community. Make sure you come here with cash or if you plan on buying $10+ worth to charge debit/credit! Came in to buy a bag of pandesal for the week, & was not looking for buying too much since it spoils whenever my family & I don't finish it. The bag I wanted was only $4, but $10 minimum, I asked one of the ladies behind the counter where's the nearest ATM, she said I wouldn't find one in the plaza so I should just buy more of their bread/pies, etc! I explained to her I was not interested since my family is diabetic, I told her I'd be back as I looked where to get cash (not one ATM in this Woodman plaza, or no cash back even at Seafood City!). When I came back in to see what else I could buy to fit $10, the same lady talked trash about me in Tagalog saying I was dumb for not listening to her when she tried selling me other products. Just because I was spoke English it was very suplada (ignorant) and bastos (rude) of her since she did not know that I actually understand FULL Tagalog! These ladies who work there should learn better customer service & understand that it's not necessary to spend more money if you're not going to eat it anyway! What a waste! They also need to be taught to not chismiss about their customers right in front of them!!! read more

Masungit yung kahera!!! The cashier to the right if you are facing the counter was so rude. She wouldn't honor my receipt although that was the proof that I paid for the dozen pandesal. She said that since I ordered my pandesal from the other cashier that I should get my pandesal from that other cashier. It is as if they were two different stores. Can she not help her other co-employee? That wasn't the first time. The previous time, I paid for mongo hopia and she did not even place it in my bag. I got home without the hopia. Arghhh! One more. The woman cleaning the glass panes got mad (really angry) at the customers who made fun of the buko pie that they bought from Valerio. The customers said it looked like creme brulee. This place used to have the best hot pandesal around (for $1). This all changed a couple years ago and quality has went down. The bread is lukewarm at best and I rarely visit this place anymore. You can't go wrong with pan de sal. Ever. Especially from here where it's baked fresh throughout the day. For $2 a bag (it used to be $1... but inflation!), it's a cheap delicious eat. And it's not your typical dinner roll either. It has a sweeter taste without being overwhelming and is a perfect blend of slightly crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. You don't even need to put anything on it. It's that good. I've been going here ever since I was a kid. Some of my other fave staples are pan de ube and spanish rolls (although I don't know how coconut makes it spanish.. but i eat them anyway). For the Filipino natives and honorary Filipinos out there, this bakery is the place to go when you want pan de sal. At all times of the day, they have hot pan de sal available. For those that don't know what that is, it's Filipino bread. It comes out nice and warm and you can't help, but take a bite right away. A dozen hot pan de sal costs $2.50, such a steal! I also love the cheese rolls. It's a sweet roll with cheese inside. I don't know what kind of cheese, but it's a really delicious treat. I also like the pan de sal filled with ube. I love when they have turon. If you go late at night, it's usually sold out. Also, the bola bola! Sometimes I get lucky and they still have it available, but both those items are usually gone by 6 or 7 when I get there. This is an authentic Filipino bakery and it's all very cheap! read more

This review is based on their pandesal and their karioka, both are DEEEEEEEEELICIOUS!!!!! You do need to get there early to buy the karioka, because they do sell out. But I have never had a bad pandesal or karioka. Of course the best time to have pandesal is when it is piping hot and OMG does it smell heavenly!!! Pandesal is always a good food all day everyday, I remember in the Philippines always waiting for the pandesal man on his bike and honking his horn in the morning! I'd ask my Papang to buy a few bags so that my brothers and I could dunk them in chocolate and eat them! Yuuuuum!!!! Karioka is just awesome, coconuty, rice flour, deliciousness, fried and covered in melted sugar!!!! They are a bit expensive at $2.50 a stick, which is 3 balls of karioka, so I do have to limit how many I can buy. A bag of pandesal is $9.70 or $9.60 I think. So I'm been super lazy to write a review, and my friend Marvin S. told me ,"If you don't YELP it...it didn't happen". ha ha. I thought that was hilarious. My response to him was, "If I don't have a food coma afterwards, it didn't happen". Anyhow, I promised that I would write about the next thing that really wowed me...and this was it. I was shopping at Seafood Market today to buy all the ingredients to make Arroz Caldo and Sinigang this week because I've been feeling a bit under the weather, and I knew that some home cooked filipino food would be my only cure. Robitussin just didn't cut it this time. After buying all the filipino goods, I was putting my grocery bags away in my trunk when I smelled something that was oh too familiar. It was the smell of freshly baked pan de sal. I turned around and stood there dumbfounded. You see, just the other day, my sister and I were reminiscing about the pan de sal that we used to get at Betsy's Bakery. We were so sad that it closed down because we would never get to have fresh pan de sal like that ever again...and then today happened....and my childhood flashed before my eyes. I immediately let my nose guide me towards Valerio's Bakery. Holy crap...this was the real deal. I pulled a number, stood in line, ordered my pan de sal, and was told, "Ma'am it will be a 10 minute wait". Just a few minutes ago I couldn't wait to get out of this damn Plaza, but hearing that I had to wait for 10 minutes just solidified "freshness". So I waited to the side and immediately called my sister to tell her what I found. She was so jealous. And 10 minutes later there it was...a dozen fresh baked pan de sals just waiting to be devoured. I ate one pan de sal on the way to the car, and by the time I was pulling out of that Plaza, I was already on my second one. It was GOOD....so good it steamed up my windows. =) So if there is such a thing as the highlight of my day...this was it! Thank you Valerio's Bakery. You just stole my heart. This star is based on the older woman who is usually the cashier up front at register. Now I know this spot might be highly praised by the local Filipinos and the like but I'm not sure if she takes a liking to other mixed nationalities! It's always something fucked up and something different. On a few separate occasions she tried to act like she couldn't understand me when I asked for a dozen pan de sal. Another time tried triple charging me for a dozen, ANOTHER time tried giving me only 6 pieces, and today I picked up more items and totaled $18.22 I gave her $20.22 and waited for my change. She gathered all items and took my money and helped the next customer. She seemd upset and started talking her language maybe she was mad she couldn't jack my $2. No bitch. Not this time read more

The date of the review is September 19, 2015. On that day, I stopped at the Valerio's Bakery to buy Empanadas. They had both the beef and chicken Empanadas selling at 5 for $4.25. I purchased 5 chicken Empanadas and 5 beef Empanadas. I warmed up the Empanadas in the toaster oven to remove the chill from them. Both kinds of Empanadas tasted good but I noticed the dough crust was too thick. To avoid the excess dough, I trimmed the edges leaving the center with the meat. The lady that assisted me tried to make me buy other Filipino pastry items. But since I am not familiar with Filipino food, I had to pass this time. Next time I stop at the Valerio's Bakery, I will do more research in Filipino pastries. 3-1/2 stars are awarded for Valerio's Empanadas, rounded to 4 stars. read more

I grew up in Panorama City and ate Valerio's pan de sal since I was a kid. Before they were next to Red Ribbon they used to be right next door to Good-ha. I love their fresh baked pan de sal. It melts in your mouth and you don't even need palaman (filling) to go with it. You can eat it plain and it still tastes good. Their ube bread and other baked goods are just as good. The pan de sal is the winner though. MMM ang sarap! =P read more
