Caviar with crispy leeks, cured egg yolk, and crème fraiche
    Nicole N.

This restaurant was one of our favorites on the entire trip to Napa. We were able to find parking with no problem on the street and got seated for our reservation right away. We started with drinks and it was one of the best martinis we have had in a long time. The caviar dish was so special because the crispy leeks really helped the caviar shine. Second favorite was the scallop dish. They were so tender and cooked beautifully. Our entree wasn't quite right because the cut we had was too tough to cut. But, the staff made it right and fired us up a new one that was much better. 10/10 service!

A great dinner option for Mon-Wed in Healdsburg! We had a nice dinner at Valette in April '26 on a Tuesday evening, when tourism hasn't picked-up yet, and Healdsburg is mostly a ghost town in the evenings. The restaurant, one of a few owned by the same family/company, prides itself on highlighting local ingredients. As can be seen on the attached photo of my pork entree, the ingredients don't disappoint. Just take a look at the two adorable turnips; possibly the cutest vegetable I've even been served. The proteins were tasty (pork, sole, duck), although my pork was a little overdone. Entree sides were pretty good and healthy, although pairings weren't perfect. Possibly because of rotating local produce. For example, my pork was said to be served with charred cabbage, and I was expecting some crunch / seasoning. Valette excelled at sweet sides and deserts, all of which were delicious. They had a vegan entree option and a great selection of starters and apps. We had the charcuterie which was excellent. Service was good, although our server seemed always rushed. It's admirable that Valette offers benefits to its employees, as listed on the menu. The ambiance on the patio was very nice; possibly the nicest parklette I've eaten in. Overall Valette is a good option for New California / Stakehouse fare, and is located right off the park in downtown; perfect location for walking or window shopping.

We came here on our honeymoon and it truly made the night feel so special. They even printed a custom menu for us with "Congratulations" at the top, which was such a thoughtful touch. They were incredibly accommodating with my vegan diet and allium allergy, creating a special cauliflower steak and vegetable dish just for me. Everything felt so attentive and personalized--such a wonderful experience!

Celebrating the start of January. Jacob, our attentive server, welcomed us and provided wonderful service throughout the evening. We sat outside on the cozy beautiful patio. The atmosphere was charming and inviting--perfect for a relaxed yet refined meal. Loved the menu. Every dish we ordered showcased incredible attention to detail. The flavors, presentation, and quality truly exceeded our expectations. I was personally impressed with the way my steak was prepared. It was perfect. We will be back. Thank you for a special dining experience.

Burratta and focaccia. Bread had a grocery store feeling.

Ok.....we wanted to try this restaurant because it had great reviews/stars. However, the food was very disappointing. But, first....the ambiance was trendy, chic country, and on point. The gentleman that seated us was nice and even opened the door when we left. The service was good and friendly, but could have stepped it up a little. The food.....the flavors were horrible and bland. We each had the same salad. The dressing was a smeared sour cream (sure it was called something else) on the bottom with goddess dressing droplets on the side. The salad was pretty, but dressing had no taste. The burratta and focaccia was tangy and bland. The focaccia was white bread from a grocery store that was barely toasted. The lamb ribs were ok, but greasy and the sauce had no flavor. The Japanese sweet potatoes were a pile of fried potatoes with another bland creamy sauce. The wine was excellent.

I felt it was a 5 star experience from my end but my moms duck was very tough. We had a lovely server, on pinpoint and friendly. The atmosphere is lively and in the small space not too loud. Ordered cocktails which everyone was happy with and a few glasses of wine. My salad was very nice, fresh veg and a creamy dressing. Also had a steak tartare which I loved. My partner had the "best mussels he's ever had". The scallops and steak were also delish and a fun presentation on the scallop. Duck breast - tough, mom couldn't cut it, I tried to help thinking smaller pieces would help but unfortunately it just wasn't good. Definitely pricey but if I'm back in Healdsburg for an occasion I definitely go again.

    Birthday celebration

If you ever find yourself in Healdsburg, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Valette -- this place is truly a five-star experience every single time. I've been a few times, but my most recent visit back in August for my birthday was on a whole different level. From the moment we sat down, everything felt so thoughtfully curated. They surprised me with a personalized menu that had a birthday message printed on it -- such a small detail, but it made the whole evening feel extra special, like the experience was crafted just for us. And the food... wow. Saying the chef did their thing is honestly an understatement. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and just absolutely phenomenal. The cocktails, appetizers, entrées -- everything was perfectly on point. Since they knew it was our birthday celebration, they brought out a complimentary dessert with a little candle, and the three of us had the cutest moment together. It was the sweetest touch to end an already unforgettable night. Valette never disappoints. If you're looking for incredible food, top-tier service, and an elevated dining experience that still feels warm and personal -- this is the place to go in Healdsburg. Highly, highly recommend.

From the moment we arrived, Valette had us. The restaurant is stunning -- a beautifully designed interior that flows seamlessly into a gorgeous outdoor dining area. We knew immediately this was going to be a special night. We went all in with the chef's prix fixe menu, and it delivered from the very first bite. Warm, homemade dinner rolls -- fragrant with thyme, garlic, and chili flakes, served alongside pillowy whipped butter -- set the tone perfectly. We loved them so much we asked for a second basket without a moment's hesitation. The Sonoma County Organic Salad that followed was nothing short of a revelation: crisp Little Gem lettuce, Pioneer Micro Herbs and edible flowers, beautifully shaved vegetables, whipped fromage blanc, and a Green Goddess dressing that tied it all together with effortless elegance. Perfection is the only word for it. For our entrées, the Petrale Sole Meunière was a masterclass in refined, soulful cooking -- the Costeaux sourdough croutons, potato fondant, haricot verts, and caper beurre noisette working in perfect harmony. And the pork porchetta with nduja? Cooked flawlessly, bold, deeply satisfying, and utterly memorable. We paired the meal with the Valette Rosé of Pinot Noir, which has instantly earned a place among the finest rosés we've ever tasted -- vibrant, nuanced, and a dream with every course. Dessert brought the ItsNotA 'Snickers Bar' and the Almond Frangipane, both executed brilliantly and the ideal sweet finale to an extraordinary meal. Valette isn't just a great restaurant -- it's our new favorite dining destination, full stop. We'll be back, again and again.

Valette Walked into a beautiful restaurant with sleek style and cool ambiance. I had the restaurant staff have 2 glasses of champagne reserve brut something Monthuy's Reserve Brut set up for when we arrived and it was good & Toasty Brioche and citrus notes champagne which was perfect way to start the event. And there was a birthday card for Mike on the table which was sweet! Isaac came over to the table and gave us the specials for the night and I was all about the chefs menu of 5 courses with wine pairings! And what was great was they let me choose all of our wines from the wine list because I'm an advanced certified sommelier!. But this definitely had me excited so for the dinner that awaited us. And the 5 course menu cost $135 X 2 = $270.00 Plus reserve wines pairing. $75 X 2 = $150.00 Plus. 2 glasses of the reserve Champagne $46.00 = $466.00 + 14+ for the staff added + 479 + 46 for tax = 525.80 + 150 cash tip. 1st course we had the Oeaetra Caviar - with cured egg, smoked white sturgeon, and buttermilk brioche toast and I chose the Sancerre for Mike and the Matanzas Creek Dry Chenin Blanc for myself and the wines paired beautifully with the caviar. 2nd Course - Scallop encroute- Squid Ink - Melted Leek & Fennel Caviar Beurre Blanc and I paired the David Ramey Chardonnay for Valette with this and the nuanced tropical fruit and apple flavors into the brioche notes of buttered toast with oak! 3rd Course- Porchetta' Tortellini en Brodo: Prosciutto - Parmesan, Crispy Pork Skin. Paired with Pinot Noirs, mine was the savory styled Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley named Chev for $35/glass and wow it was exquisite along with the prosciutto in tortellinis made for plate presentation and lightly delicate with soul and vigor at the same time! Mike had the Lando Pinot Noir which is from Sonoma Coast and is a more juicy styled Pinot Noir 4th Course- Brown Butter Poached Filet Braised Short Rib - Sauce Bordelaise Heirloom Carrot Puree - Cipollini onion and wow the entree was rich, dense and full of flavor which went spectacularly with the Aperture Cabernet Sauvignon at. $36/ glass and drinking really well that evening and paired well to the big rich filet mignon and short ribs 5th Course- Smoked Volo Chocolate Pave Mousse Cake - Graham Cracker Crumbles Toasted Meringue - Oven Roasted Cherries was delicious and was paired with a Juracon dessert wine and I had a 10 year old Malmsey Madeira and it was a great meal- one of the best all time!! Meals on this Earth!!!

Headline: An Unforgettable Birthday Celebration at a Healdsburg Gem We chose Valette for a birthday celebration, and it was, hands down, the best decision we could have made. From the moment we sat down at the best seats in the house, the personal touches were everywhere--even the menu was personalized with the birthday girl's name. The service was impeccable. Our server, Jacob, was a delight; his deep knowledge of the menu helped us navigate our choices, and his expertise in decanting our 2006 Hewitt Cabernet was much appreciated. We started with the only French Champagne offered by the glass, which paired beautifully with the Tsar Nicoulai Osetra Caviar. While the bowl's design made the caviar slightly hard to reach, the flavors were so stunning we found ourselves pining for more. For entrees, the Liberty Farms Duck Breast was a standout--perfectly medium-rare and easily some of the best duck I've ever had. The Prime New York Strip was equally impressive; the meat was so flavorful on its own that the side of sauce Raifort wasn't even necessary. We finished with two delicate cakes and a lovely visit from the owner, who shared some of the restaurant's multi-generational history. We left feeling truly special.

TLDR: Lovely nighttime ambiance paired with refined and delicious food. Scallops like I've never had them before. Fantastic experience with great service -- will definitely be back. ------ FOOD: 1. Scallop (5/5) Tasty, fun, and unique. The scallop is served in a small pot covered by a beautiful puff pastry that you break through and eat with the scallop. Wish there was more than one scallop, but for an appetizer, this was probably the perfect portion. 2. Trout (5/5) Fantastic trout dish with well-seasoned, buttery layers. Not dry. 3. Salad (4.5/5) Great salad, would definitely order again. 4. Snickers Dessert (4/5) Essentially a homemade Snickers bar. Was delicious, but as a dessert lover, I will say that this didn't fully satisfy my sweet tooth craving. ------ SERVICE: * No notes, I thought it was a lovely experience and the waiters checked in on us consistently throughout the night without feeling overbearing. They were very kind to us ------ AMBIANCE / ENVIRONMENT: * Loved the ambiance here. Dark, romantic, cozy. Perfect for a date night!

Does this place have a bar with seatings?

Yes, at least as of March 2025!

Does the tasting menu include a dessert?

    Yes!

How is outdoor seating for Winter?

They have heaters out there so it's not a problem.

Do they have a gluten free menu?

Do they have outdoor dining still?

Park let is still there for outdoor, request upon reserving. Reservations required and they are very booked. Recommend calling to ask for open reservations.

Cost of corkage seems to change with their mood; October 2021 was $25. Worthwhile if you take a bottle you know you'll enjoy and save all the time needed to peruse an impossible list of offers. It's specially worth it if you've been wine tasting and…

From the moment we arrived, the service was exquisite--from the attentive wait staff to the incredibly knowledgeable sommelier. Our table was beautifully decorated with a centerpiece with branches and flowers and berries that created such a warm and intimate atmosphere--and that was just the beginning! We enjoyed an incredible @ 9-course meal (it was more like 20 IG you count each AMAZING morsel of sashimi) featuring so many unique and exotic varieties of fish, each course beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared. As a pescatarian, I requested that my entire experience be gluten-free and cheese-free, and the team accommodated my request flawlessly. I never felt like I was missing a thing; every dish was creative, flavorful, and beautifully executed! My favorites were the corn bisque and sashimi bites as well as the complex multilayer cucumber dish! I wish I could eat that every night! It was amazingggg Then came the perfect finale After our 9 courses, we were brought upstairs to the rooftop, where we enjoyed three or four different gluten-free desserts while taking in a breathtaking sunset and beautiful views of Healdsburg. It was such a magical way to end an already unforgettable evening. From the food and wine to the service, setting, and attention to every detail, SingleThread delivered an extraordinary experience from beginning to end. Truly a special and memorable evening. For…read morecontext, our party of four had dined at The French Laundry two days earlier, which may have heightened our expectations. That dinner was exceptional and showed us what truly outstanding hospitality can feel like. By comparison, our experience at SingleThread fell far short of the standard we expected from a restaurant of this caliber. The issues began as soon as we arrived. Despite several emails exchanged beforehand and repeated references to personalizing the experience, the staff initially got my name wrong. We were then directed to look through a small kitchen window without any explanation, context, or narrative about what we were seeing. After a few minutes, a small tea drink was served through the window, but we were then left standing in a cramped entry area for roughly 20 minutes with no meaningful interaction from the three people at the desk. During that time, we watched other parties arrive and be escorted elsewhere while no one checked in with us or explained the delay. Eventually, someone from the dining room asked whether we would like to be seated. By that point, I was already frustrated. Once seated, our server quickly described several small dishes arranged on a flower-and-moss-covered faux log, then left before we had any meaningful sense of the menu, the number of courses, or the direction of the meal. When the sommelier arrived and asked us to choose wine or pairings, I felt unable to make an informed decision because I did not know what food was coming. I ultimately chose the wine pairing simply because it seemed like the safest option given the lack of information. The service throughout the evening did not reflect what I would expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant. There was little storytelling, little hospitality, and very little sense that the experience was being guided with care. A server attempted to clear my plate while my fork and knife were still in my hands. Another server bumped a member of our party with a plate. Most concerning, the staff appeared to lose track of a guest's allergy and served me her plate instead. To be clear, we caught the mistake; the staff did not. That kind of lapse is difficult to overlook. We also consistently had difficulty hearing the descriptions of the dishes as they were presented, which further diminished the sense of connection to the meal. At a restaurant centered so heavily on the progression, story, and precision of each course, that lack of clear communication mattered. The food itself showed creativity, skill, and technique. There were several good courses, a few that felt unusual or less successful, and a couple of truly strong dishes, including the best duck I have had to date. Unfortunately, it was difficult to fully appreciate the food because the service failures were so distracting and so far below expectations. The one clear positive of the evening was the sommelier. He was engaging, knowledgeable, and thoughtful in discussing each pairing and in making recommendations to other members of our party. His service stood apart from the rest of the experience. We will not return. For us, the evening did not feel personal, polished, or worthy of the reputation attached to it. It felt like highly engineered cuisine paired with service that did not meet fine-dining standards. We left The French Laundry two nights earlier talking about every detail with admiration. We left SingleThread frustrated and deeply disappointed.

It was a bit warm but we really enjoyed dining outside this time. We had a friendly and warm server named Guadalupe and she provided everything we needed to enjoy our meal. Thank you! This time we ordered the 10 Layer Lasagna with the Domenica's sauce and one with Richard's meat sauce. This is still the best lasagna I have ever ate. Love the ricotta, the goat cheese, parmesan and herbs. It just doesn't get any better than this. The Domenica's sauce stole the show though. This sauce is magic! Along with our meal, we paired a 2023 Pastori Old Vine Zinfandel. It absolutely complimented this meal. For dessert we went with the Passion Fruit Sorbet with blackberries. So refreshing and closed out our delightful lunch. I cannot recommend this place enough. Service is always top notch, food is out of this world delicious with so many homemade choices to choose from. Whether you are looking for a romantic meal for two, a family dinner, a wedding rehearsal or reception meal, you will not be disappointed with this choice.

The backyard patio is bigger than you'd expect... lots of shaded tables. Our server was easygoing, prompt, and accurate. She did a great job recommending menu items. The food was delicious. Large entree salads, pasta cooked perfectly al dente, and nice sides as well. Only thing is - you have to remember to ask for Sourdough and sun-dried tomato butter. That is only given on request. Enjoy!

We had a nice view of the whole restaurant, great seats. Depending on how hungry you are, you can choose between the 3 courses or the chefs 6 course menu. We went with the 3 courses which was plenty of food. Our server was Liam and he gave us anniversary welcome drinks. Followed by bread service. We both ordered the Marinated Heirloom Tomato, Seared Alaskan Halibut, Grilled Bistro Filet, Strawberry Mousse Cake and the Ice cream sorbet. Food was plated nicely, good portions, fresh and cooked to our liking. Our desserts were bought out with little chocolate Happy Anniversary signs. It was a thoughtful touch. Every staff we interacted with was kind and helpful. One thing to note is the high vaulted sloped ceilings that mimics a wine cave. If someone was talking on the other end the sound traveled up the curve and it's like that person is speaking loudly next to you. The sound booms down. A little startled but depending on where you sit or stand, be aware of your conversation which can travel.

The smoked salmon gougeres sounded tempting, but turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. Gougeres are usually served warm, but this one was cold and tasted like a salmon-flavored cream puff. I had the gem lettuce salad next and I liked the addition of strawberries. However, the salad was so drenched in miso vinaigrette that was all you could taste. Overdressed like wearing a tuxedo to a hoedown. I then had "Mary's" version of cordon bleu rolled with chicken and ham on a bed of polenta with spinach and oyster mushrooms with a Dijon jus. It sounded wonderful on the menu, but it was a letdown, oddly flavorless. As I was eating it a local regular next to me said I should have ordered something else - it was not his favorite. How I wish he'd sat down before I ordered!

It took a good 15-20 minutes for the food to come out but it was good! Great place for big groups. This little downtown area is so cute and quaint. Brisket: 4/5 the soft pieces were tasty and then there were some tough pieces which weren't as good. Overall good flavor. Pork shoulder pulled pork: 3/5 very fatty and not as much flavor as the brisket. Chicken: 3/5 a bit too dry for me but others in my party enjoyed it. Pork belly burnt ends: 4/5 good but fatty and sweet. Horseradish slaw: 4/5 could use more horseradish flavor but refreshing as is. Cornbread: 5/5 excellent! And that side butter was sooo good! Fries: 4/5 good Sweet potato tater tots: 5/5 these were better than the fries.

The chicken sandwich, which comes with fries (substitutes allowed), was big - so big that I had half, plus some salad via my wife (who didn't finish what was left, so - yes, large), plus broccolini (the side for my friend). Service was excellent. Lots of outdoor seating, and we were given (as asked for) a well-shaded table. The biggest negative (first-world problem) is with valet parking, which is free (I did tip). If an event is ending at the same time that you finish a meal, there can be a bit of a wait (about 10 minutes, in our case) before your vehicle is brought to the building entrance. So - do the texting for the car a couple minutes before you go outside to wait. (Also, my friend's Xfinity cell phone got zero bars; you can also hand your ticket to a valet, if one is around.)

We cannot recommend Boon enough for anyone who may be traveling in or even locals who are looking for a locally owned restaurant. Not only were staple long-term vegetarian dishes removed from the menu (polenta lasagna), those that remained were absolutely butchered. The vegan bowl used to be fresh produce from the garden with an incredible sauce that had depth, now it is a tasteless $28 vermicelli bowl that a child could throw together in under 5 min.. Extremely over-fried tofu, no sesame ginger sauce to be found and just a dollop of chili oil on 1/10th of the noodles. The cauliflower appetizer was completely bland and it was very unclear whether it was supposed to be raw or cooked.. We come here (often bringing friends with us excited to share the spot), because it's always been consistently amazing and a good balance of meat and veg options, but it doesn't feel like the new chef is concerned with pleasing the veg customers (though even the presentation on the meat/fish dishes we saw looked messy and unappetizing compared to the past). We gave feedback (out of care/concern, not as "karens") to those who know us there and are hopeful that they'll be heard. We're going to give boon another chance in a few weeks, but i'm not feeling too hopeful after being told we aren't the only regulars feeling the effects of the kitchen changes.
