When you arrive onto the property, the nearby valet attendance greet you with a smile and offer to assist you with which direction to head over to. Upon entering the establishment, the hosts greets you (and your party) with a smile. The waiters and waitresses are all very much attentive here. I appreciate the menu is heavy on the vegetables and presentation of the food is very aesthetically pleasing. At first, when I saw the pricing, I was a little bit iffy, however, the more that I ate the more that it started to make sense to me. Details, matter here, all the way down to the table napkins. Each plate is carefully crafted; each of your taste buds will thank you later which each bite that you take. Everything on this menu down to the drinks - both alcoholic and mocktails were superb. I was super excited when I discovered that my favorite Chicago restaurant opened its sister location here in Sunnyvale and I've already been back a couple of times. The space itself is gorgeous! Filled with plants, warm lighting, and a vibrant, modern feel. My favorite dishes so far are the crispy quinoa + tuna poke salad. I love the crispy quinoa so much that I'm seriously tempted to learn how to make it myself (it's that good). I also tried several other dishes: the empanadas, scones, matcha tres leches, and the potato crepe (available only during weekend brunch) that one was deliciously crispy and full of flavor. That said, I will note that the portions tend to be on the smaller side, so if you're going with a group or want to leave feeling truly full, it's good to plan for multiple dishes. Opening week lunch reservation took my cousin, brother, and me to Stephanie Izard's gorgeous new restaurant in Sunnyvale, but I procrastinated on this review. Really enjoyed her Chicago concepts, so was looking forward to the same level of cook and execution here. Chef Izard did come out and greet fans at the tables, which was very gracious of her. We ordered several appetizers and mains to share. The goat empanadas and chickpea fritters were excellent, and I also enjoyed the desserts. All the other dishes, from the spicy hand roll dip to the salmon bowl to the pork belly noodles to the three-sauce chicken were good, but not packing any wow factor. Many of the fusion flavor profiles were also similar for different dishes, and I wanted a wider range. Perhaps my expectations were too high, although I do hear that the brunch and dinner menus feature more standout items. It's just at this price point, and celebrity reputation, I expected more. This place came highly hyped thanks to its critically acclaimed chef, and as a fan of one of their restaurants in Chicago, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food here. While the ambiance is very pretty and welcoming, the food just didn't deliver. The location feels somewhat isolated, situated in the middle of nowhere surrounded by Google campus buildings. It's also on hotel property, which makes parking confusing with separate Google, hotel, and restaurant parking areas. Out of everything I tried, I think the potatoes were the best thing on the menu. It's tucked away in a quieter part of Sunnyvale (about 10 mins from downtown) but feels up-and-coming. We ordered 2 apps (avocado dip + disco fries) and 1 pork shank wrap to share and it was plenty. Everything tasted really good. The pork was delicious. We also got drinks (3 alcoholic, 1 non-alc) and ended with 3 "gelatos." Total came out to $200+, which felt a little steep for what we ordered. The only small hiccup... the "gelato" was more like ice cream (honestly tasted like Tillamook), and our desserts took a little adventure before finding our table. We watched them pass us a few times and by the time they arrived, they were slightly melted. Funny, but not ideal. Service overall was attentive. Waters were refilled and staff checked in often. They did rapid-fire the menu the second we sat down which was a lot to process, but they were friendly throughout. It's part of a hotel and even the reception area is adorable. The service here was AMAZING and the food was just as amazing! The servers were attentive and friendly and consistently checked to see whether we were enjoying the food/had enough water. The menu is small but everything on it looked so appetizing and unique -- we went with the disco fries and avocado dip as appetizers then the salmon and poke for mains. The disco fries were so perfectly seasoned and sauced, and the pickled onions were such a nice touch. The salmon was also perfectly crispy with a wonderful bed of Brussels sprouts! The interior is stunning with greenery and there's a beer garden out back. The goat empanadas were pretty good; a little dry. The eggplant and pork shank were amazing. You scoop out the eggplant and eat it on the bread they give you. The guacamole with plantains were ok. After looking at the dessert menu nothing really drew me but for one reason or another we ended up with 3 desserts. The sticky toffee plantain cake was better than expected and reminded me of carrot cake. The Matcha Tres Leches and mango sticky rice were pretty good. From the moment we walked in, the hostess, waitress, and Buser we encountered were all incredibly welcoming, friendly, and even congratulated us for our anniversary. Didn't have reservations but we were able to get bar seats immediately. Tried the goat empanadas which had flavorful meat and was tender. Spiced fries had a good texture and crunch. The pork shank was fantastic!! Crispy crust, fall off the bone! Finger licking good! The kimchi and melon it was served with were great accompaniments. We made a mistake of not having a reservation when we came, so my friend and I were told wait time would be around 2 hours for a party of two at around 5:00 p.m. on a Saturday. Disappointed, I grabbed a seat at the the bar and waited for my friend. We took a chance and decided to sign up on the wait list anyway, hoping that there would be a cancellation. Within 15 minutes, our tables were ready. This is the first time I've been here so I'm not sure how common this is but that was pretty good luck. Our waiter was amazing. He noticed all the small details, provided us with recommendations, and make sure we were comfortable and welcomed. He's definitely someone that seems to love his job. We had dined at her original place, The Girl and the Goat, in Chicago a very long time ago (around 2011 or 2012). Of course, Stephanie is a very successful chef and the winner of an iconic and memorable Top Chef season. We didn't have a reservation, but we were able to get a table pretty quickly around 5 pm on a Saturday evening. The setting for the restaurant is very weird. It is right next to some Google Cloud offices, off of the 101. There is no retail presence here. There is only a hotel and this restaurant, as far as I can tell. Everything else near it is corporate office space. The waiter told us that their guests are primarily Google people (it's probably a great place for a sales person to take a customer) and people staying at the hotel for Levi Stadium events. The menu is kind of all over the place, but it seems to concentrate around South American and Asian flavors. We had originally planned a family dinner here, but after looking at the menu, decided it wouldn't be kid-friendly enough. Now after we've eaten here, I'm certain that there is very little here that our kids would've been happy with. We started with two cocktails because we originally sat at the bar. They were both very refreshing and not overly sweet. After we sat down, we started with the Goat empanadas as an appetizer. The empanadas were well made, with very good pastry. The filling was very typical flavors, not really standing out. Actually, the best part of the dish was the lime huacatey sauce, which was tangy, spicy, sweet, and kind of everything in between. The rest of what we ordered was also mostly South American in flavors. The cauliflower was our favorite dish of the night. It had a very distinct smoky taste, along with the usual tangy, spicy, etc. flavor of the dressing. The eggplant was also good, but primarily for its sides. I particularly enjoyed the pickles and the carrot hummus. What I really like was the menu in general was very vegetable forward. Our cauliflower was incredibly filling and had an interesting flavor that didn't require a lot of meat or fat. Maybe the one slight flaw with this place is that everything had BIG BIG flavors, without a lot of nuance. This might be a flaw of how we ordered, but everything seemed to be based off the same general blend of spices (in particular, a lot of lime). Compared with the other Top Chef restaurant that we recently visited (Brooke Williamson's LA restaurant Playa Provisions), all the big flavors seemed to numb our taste buds. My conclusion is that this restaurant was worth trying, but probably not worth going back to, unless they add a whole bunch of new seasonal menu items. read more

As someone who is a long-time fan of Chef Izard's restaurants, I was excited to see that a "goat" restaurant made its way to the Bay Area! The vibe is fab - the interior blends in the Bay Area and the "goat" touches from Chef Izard's other restaurants - beautiful! The food is great and it lives up to the signature dishes we've had at Girl and the Goat - the pork shank and the green beans are lovely as always, and we loved trying dishes we haven't had yet, like the chickpea fritters. I will say I wish that we had opted for other things on the menu, as I've gone to all of her restaurants in Chicago and they were all things I was rather already familiar with - I suppose I wished that Valley Goat's signature dishes would be slightly different. Valley Goat is tucked away in a small boutique hotel but is a great spot for an amazing dinner, where you feel like you have escaped the madness of the south bay! The restaurant is beautiful inside, and has an amazing vibe. The food is spectacular, some of the top dishes are the sticky pork shank, corn, and green beans. You really can't go wrong with anything else on the menu! We've been to Girl and the Goat in Chicago so we're super excited when Valley Goat opened. We ordered the empanadas, roasted oysters, brussel sprouts, and sticky pork shank. The sticky pork shanks was the winner of the day but everything was delicious! The pork shanks had great flavor and just melted right off the bone. All the accoutrements paired really well but we especially loved the pear with it. The oysters were our second favorite, the biscuit/cracker was the perfect texture and crunch to pair with the oysters. I o lychee wish that there were more. This treehouse campus is such an oasis in the middle of Sunnyvale! I was completely surprised to see such well thought, attention to detail campus, with earthy vibes. The ambiance was just amazing, with lights everywhere, lots and lots of greenery, beautiful walking paths, small nooks and corners to hang around and overall very refreshing vibe! We made a reservation and were promptly seated. The menu is simple- appetizers and plates. We loved everything we ordered! It's located next to a hotel that just opened last year, so the grounds that the restaurant is on is nice and well-maintained. We came right when it opened at 11 AM on a weekend and were surprised to find out that all the tables had reservations, with the exception of the bar and high top seating. We didn't mind this, but if you're coming in with a large group or planning to order a lot of dishes, I'd recommend making a reservation. We ordered the goat empanadas, crispy brussel sprouts, yolk-onomiyaki, and potato crepe. For drinks, we got the hot spring spritz. All the dishes were fine, but flavor-wise, they were all a bit under-whelming with the price and portion-size taken into consideration. The empanadas were flaky, but there wasn't much filling in it. I was surprised by how little filling there was given that it's $18 for 2 empanadas. The worker described it having raisins, and we didn't taste any. The sauce also didn't really add much to the flavor. The brussel sprouts were fine. The yolk-onomiyaki was probably the most disappointing out of the 4 dishes we ordered. It was merely an omelette with toppings on top of it, and the flavor profile didn't wow us. We enjoyed the potato crepe the most. It felt like the restaurant's take on banh xeo, a Vietnamese crepe. The potato was crispy and the red onions help cut down on the grease. We weren't sure whether or not we should use our hands and make lettuce wraps with the crepe like how you do for banh xeo, or use our utensils, but we ended up using our utensils since a good majority of the lettuce was sitting on top of sauce, and we didn't want sauce dripping all over our hands. I came here with my siblings and a couple of young children for an intimate birthday dinner. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated. We were seated with a view of the kitchen, which was cool to see and amazing to smell . We ordered a good variety of dishes from the menu and they were all very tasty. Their cocktails looked and sounded good, but were a bit watered down for my preference. They were accommodating for kids, as they had kid-friendly menus and crayons for coloring. Parking was plentiful, as the restaurant is part of Treehouse Hotel Silicon Valley. My husband and I have been to a couple of Stephanie Izard's other restaurants (Girl and the Goat, Duck Duck Goat, and Little Goat Diner), and have enjoyed our experience at every single one of them. Chill and refined California Napa vibe in the dining room and the volume of echos in the dining room allows you to talk at normal volume even when the dining room is full (thank god) The food is definitely worth a visit - the dishes were created with balance and creativity in mind, not your run of the mill items that you could get anywhere. Was never a fan of empanadas and yet had the best goat empanadas here... disco fries is a must get item. 4.5 The food was really good. I've had girl and the goat in La and Chicago so I'm def aware of the cuisine and how good it is. Food came out quickly even tho we were a party of 9. Service was great. The reason I'm pulling down a star is just cause the drinks were so mid =[[. We tried quite a few and didn't really love any of em. Food: Must get(ranked in order of taste)- Sticky pork shank, branzino, skirt steak, skuna bay salmon Good- Heirloom tomato salad and disco fries Meh- Really didn't like the sauteed green beans. Made a reservation to celebrate my friend's birthday - the 4 of us both ordered disco fries, one of our favorite dishes that we ordered. Would rate it a 9/10. My husband and I ordered chicken skewers and skirt steak as well, both were good. My friend and his wife ordered the sticky pork shank and they gave us a little piece and it was good, fell off the bone and had a lot of flavor. For dessert we got the matcha tres leches and sticky toffee plantain pudding - both were delicious, we enjoyed both desserts - more so with the sticky pudding. Service is great, our waiter was patient with us and kept filling our water which was great and checked on us frequently. There is ample parking - it shares it with a hotel as well. read more
