Definitely recommend coming here with a larger party so that you can share more of the tapas and try a wider variety of what Valley Goat has to offer. I'll be honest: I've been to Girl and the Goat in Chicago in the past and frankly, was underwhelmed. So when I heard all the hype about Valley Goat in the Bay Area, I was cautiously optimistic. Well, sheit...Valley Goat brought it! From chic ambiance and decor to stellar service to fantastic food. It was broughten! Our server, Socrates, explained that most people go with family style, so that's what our party of six did. He had excellent suggestions (crispy quinoa with tuna poke salad) and when we ignored him the first time, he was quick to suggest it again and double down that we would not regret it. Hard to narrow it down because each menu item was unique and delicious in its own right, but my absolute favorite were the breakfast potatoes followed by the crispy quinoa tuna poke salad. Both are must-gets! I must say my least favorite (but only by a sliver) was the potato pancake. My end portion must have been just the hashbrowns because I didn't get one nub of sausage in mine (and it was a big serving). My friend said the same, but fiancé said his has some. It was also a bit shy with the flavor, but maybe it's because every other dish was so bold, it paled in comparison? Came here for a group work lunch. The food is good. The service is ok, but it was really busy when we went so might be a little slower when they're busy. The decor is very cute! Lots of living plants. Everything we tried was good here, but the dish we wouldn't get again is the pork belly noodles. It was served cold, which was fine but very unexpected. The veggie and goat empanadas were both good. The goat was not gamey at all and had tons of flavor. The spicy hamachi appetizer was good but not my favorite. I think it had some citrus mixed in so it was more tart than my tastebuds like. But others might enjoy that! I got the tuna quinoa bowl. The quinoa was so crispy and tasty with the dressing they use. They gave a lot of tuna which was delicious and a lot of avocado. The mix of flavors was really good, and I'm not a big salad/grain bowl person usually. But I would order this again. I got a salmon skewer on the side which was too much food but the salmon was cooked perfectly, and the skin on it was crispy! It was a little fatty which is good or bad, depending on preference. On a beautiful Sunday evening, my partner and I wanted to have some dinner so we chose Valley Goat. After being seated we took in the amazing interior design and aesthetic of the whole place. We were then greeted by our server Jake before putting in our order of the disco fries, roasted asparagus and the woodfired chicken. First off, the disco fries came out with a ton of flavor and were by far the best dish we had. A ton of crispy textures, bright acidic bites, and delicious coconut sauce. Next the chicken was served which was also delicious. Great balance provided by the tzatziki sauce and cucumber salad on the side. Finally the asparagus had a nice bit of peanut richness cut by the pickles on top. However, some of the asparagus was really tough(not enough of the stem was trimmed off), and because the asparagus was barely cooked it basically tasted like eating fresh asparagus. This is definitely not my preference. The biggest gripe I had with these dishes though is the reliance of the pickled onions and peppers. Each dish alone was great, but when every single dish just has the flavor of pickled onions it gets extremely tiring. We decided to end on the pandan flan, and I am very glad we did. It was really delicious with a ton of crispiness, while also being super smooth. Overall, though it took a while to take our order, I recognize how hard Jake was working. There were far too few servers watching over the whole dining area, so he was constantly hustling around the restaurant. Would definitely come back for special occasions. My husband had been wanting to try Valley Goat after seeing reels on social media. We ordered the empanadas, the pork shank, and roasted cauliflower based on other people's reviews. The empanadas were $20 for 2, meaning each one was $10. While that felt pricey for an appetizer, the empanadas were truly delicous, perfectly flaky. Now let's also talk about the sauce served with the empanadas - delicious, don't skip it! The pork shank was definitely the star of the show and had a lot of meat to go around. It is large enough for 2 to share with a side if you're not looking to be stuffed. We had a great experience here for lunch recently! I've had this place bookmarked for awhile and haven't had the chance to try it until this past weekend. We were going to be at Backyard Cafe for a cookie decorating event and decided to grab lunch here beforehand. Upon entering, we immediately noticed how the place is beautiful decorated with so much greenery all around. We were seated right next to the little food window where servers grab the food and the corner was little cramped because they also had a big wraparound booth in that corner as well we a big family was seated. We didn't really mind much. It was more cozy than crowded. My friend and I shared plates: the focaccia, the poke salad, and the spiced apple pancakes. We also shared the brunch potatoes and she had the house made sausage patties. I also got a mimosa. Every dish was really good, but I especially love the tuna salad and the brunch potatoes. I'm not sure what I was expecting with the potatoes because the price point seemed pretty expensive. Once we got the side, I realized it was a big portion and they were very delicious and crispy. I also really enjoyed the spice apple pancakes. Super fluffy and surprisingly not too sweet The pricing is a bit steep, but I understand the hotel upcharge. I also wanted to be able to charge my car, but I think they had that area closed off to valet because when I searched for the charging station, it said it was temporarily closed. Stephanie you have outdone yourself! Valley goat was everything I thought it would be! I had my hopes set pretty high, so the fact that Valley Goat met or exceeded those expectations speak volumes! The decor was just as precious, being in person I got to see so many small details with goats everywhere and it made me so happy. I love that there's a playfulness in the decor. Everything is bright and happy! The food was immaculate. Everything was bursting with flavor and I appreciate the Mediterranean twist to a lot of the dishes. The fish was p much just basic spicy tuna, but it was yummy and paired well with the crispy nori chips - goat empanadas: the goat meat was juicy and the cilantro sauce was good, but we thought the pastry could've been flakier - woodfire cauliflower: grace did not like this but i did haha. I heard good things about this place so I made a resy for 4 on a Monday night. It's a beautiful spot and there are directory for you to find it. Surprisingly it was quite busy for a Monday. We were informed that the dishes are family style aka sharable. We order quite a bit. All dishes lean towards more a sweeter side but it's a moderately sweet and savory. I'm not a sweet food person but I have to say everything was delicious. My favorite dish was the chicken skewers, shrimp salad and the skirt steak. The wine list a can be a bit better in my opinion. I unfortunately have to drop two stars. I've been back to Valley Goat several times now - during lunch - and the first time I thought it was just an oddity - but now just having gone again for lunch I think the food isn't as good as during dinner. We loved the avocado dip with Plantains - a must order as well as the Goat empanadas. My friend was concerned goat would be too "gamey" and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was!! The flaky crust and the goat with the sauce - as perfect bite with a party for the taste buds! Also we tried their pork belly with noodles - and while it was very tasty - the portion was so small. 4 pieces of pork belly with very little noodles. Hard to share - basically each person got one pork belly with a tiny bit of noodles... :( So for this visit we got their green beans which is typically my favorite but for some reason it came out soggy and salty. We had to flag down a server/staff to have it redone - a new one came out and we were assured there was less sauce. NOPE - it tasted exactly the same - and in fact - I could taste salt on one of the green beans. They salted the green beans and then added more salt within the sauce AND they were so SOGGY. Nothing like I've had in the past. If you compare my pics from my green beans from dinner to lunch - you can definitely see the difference... On a positive note - the waiter took the green beans off our tab given it truly was inedible and high blood pressure/heart attack waiting to happen. Also their salmon salad was a huge disappointment. Salmon was overcooked and too much dressing in the salad. It was tasty but a bit much for me... I think it was to have "crunchy quinoa" which with all the dressing was quite soggy :( And the nail that dropped their rating was the wait staff. We had to flag down folks who would nod at us and walk away and then FINALLY come by and we just wanted boxes or our bill. Couldn't find our server at all. The environment is beautiful but the service totally negated it... I'm so sad given I raved about Valley Goat to all my friends and now I need to back peddle :( Given the prices for the meal I think it could be a better experience with better food and service. First time at this restaurant. I had never even heard of it previously but the location is convenient to all the tech companies along 101. Loved the decor and easy parking. Food was amazing! I've dined at Valley Goat 3 times and I'm well overdue on a review. As an avid Food Network watcher, I was excited to find out Iron Chef Stephanie Izard was opening a new restaurant in Sunnyvale. As soon as I could, I made a reservation and was so impressed. The decor and vibes are stunning. Even the napkins have adorable Valley Goat branding on them. The attention to detail isn't just for the decor. The food is some of the best I've had. The goat empanadas have the most incredible flaky puff pastry, the sticky pork shank is fall-off-the-bone tender, the spicy hand roll dip was awesome, the disco fries are incredibly delicious... the list keeps going. So glad we have such a fun restaurant here in Sunnyvale. I write this review as someone who has been to the original girl and the goat and little goat many times in Chicago, since the early 2010s. When I heard chef Stephanie Izard was going to open a restaurant in the Bay Area I was so excited, but now tldr is I'm disappointed in the misjudged flavor levels and really wish I had a better experience. The overall hotel had cozy good vibes, and the interior of the restaurant felt like a verdant, living Anthropologie (in a good way) What we ordered: goat empanadas, focaccia, avocado dip, beef skewer salad, crispy quinoa with poke salad, green beans The good: quinoa was incredibly crispy and satisfying, wish I knew how they got that texture. Focaccia was warm, crispy, pillowy and perfect. Empanada crust was flaky and beautifully break apart - essentially the theme is.. the carbs were well done. The disappointing: While I appreciate big flavors, love cilantro (they use it abundantly), and am not a stranger to fish sauce/lime/pickling, I felt that everything was a little too much: too salty, too limey, too tangy, to the point of distraction and even fatigue. TL;DR Great food, really disappointing service. Valley Goat is a lovely spot in Sunnyvale, with food that beautifully marries what I love about Stephanie Izard's Chicago food (flavorful, interesting, bold but approachable), with the freshness of California's amazing farms and farmers. Maybe we had lunch on an off day, but my dish came out thirty minutes (not joking) before my guests dish. If I'm making a generous guess, the server maybe didn't have the kitchen fire all dishes at once and coursed my guest's dish for a "second course." But all this is avoidable, and made for a very long and uncomfortable meal. To top it off, we spent ten minutes trying to track down our server to get the bill because -- after a two hour lunch of only three small plates -- my guest was now late to her next appointment. We came here for their Tail Goat event presented by Capital One during Super Bowl weekend and arrived right at the start. They offered complimentary valet parking, which was a great touch. Upon arrival, guests were greeted with a welcome cocktail and bubbly. Their cocktail, wine, and beer selection was extensive, and I appreciated that they also had two non-alcoholic cocktails on the menu. At first, I noticed they only had pre-made cocktails available on the bar for grab-and-go. I was disappointed that there weren't any mocktails ready, and when I asked, the bartender mentioned they weren't making them just yet, only the one cocktail at the moment. That meant I couldn't grab a drink and join my group right away, so I did feel left out while everyone else had a drink. However, after seeing me re-join my group w/no drink, maybe he felt bad and called me over, and kindly made me a mocktail, which I really appreciated. The space itself is beautiful, including the outdoor area. There were food stations set up throughout the venue featuring renowned chefs and friends of Stephanie Izard. The food was top quality. I was craving seafood but wasn't sure if everything at the station was raw, so I asked one of the staff members standing nearby who seemed to be in charge of the station if it was all raw. He responded with a rude "yes" and immediately turned away. I didn't grab anything and walked away. Later on, someone in my group had cocktail shrimp, so I realized there were cooked seafood options available there that I did not see, that he did not communicate to me. I did end up trying some, but the initial interaction was a little off-putting. The various ceviches and raw seafood offerings looked all beautifully done. I didn't try any but my group enjoyed it. Everything we tried was excellent. We even took a photo with Chef Stephanie Izard! One of the highlights was the jersey personalization station, such a fun and unique touch. There was also a hot chocolate station with all the toppings (crushed peppermint, freshly ground cinnamon, nutmeg, marshmallows), and you could even add alcohol if you wanted. It felt festive and thoughtful as the evening got chilly. That was the only dessert option that you could get anytime throughout the event. I would've liked to have seen another sweet offering. The guy running the beer garden truck was such a fun presence, we loved his energy, and my husband enjoyed chatting with him. We all really enjoyed our drinks and the overall vibe of the event. I actually didn't know this restaurant existed until I saw it as a Capital One exclusive event. We love Girl & the Goat in Chicago, so we had high expectations and knew we'd likely have a good time, and we did. Came here for a work dinner. There were about 35 of us outside. All of the plates were extremely delicious. Awesome combination of textures and flavors. My only complaint was the wait time between each course. All in all a 3 hour dinner, so ending at 10PM was a little late for everyone. Probably one of my favorite places to dine as of recent. I've been here with friends and family for both brunch, lunch as well as dinner. Beautiful atmosphere, tons of greenery and open space. The patio is lovely especially with good weather and they even have a beer garden in the back. Make sure to make a reservation! Parking can be a bit tricky but doable. There is tesla charging in the self-park area of the parking lot. My favorite items from here have got to be the Crispy Quinoa + Tuna Poke Salad, Empanadas (veggie and goat) and Sticky Pork Shank. Honestly, I don't think I had a dish here that wasn't flavorful or delicious! The ones I mentioned are just stand outs but would gladly eat anything else on the menu. Also a warning for those who are not a fan of herbs such as cilantro or mint, a lot of their items contain a good mix of either of the herbs. I personally love cilantro so their menu is great to me. I will say, their menu is strong but their drinks can be a bit of a miss. They do offer coffee, tea, mocktails and cocktails. I don't have any stand outs when it comes to their beverages. Service is always friendly and welcoming. I would say that the timing of food coming to the table varies. Sometimes items would come one at a time or even come before drinks. I did so promptly, shared more details about the visit, and mentioned that I was open to further conversation if it would be helpful. It has now been over two weeks with no reply. Back in 2018, I absolutely enjoyed a meal at Stephanie Izard's Girl and the Goat. So when I heard she was opening Valley Goat in the new Treehouse Hotel, I knew I wanted to go. Finally made it a couple of weekends back. Love love love that the adorable goat logo is still very prominent. The space is filled with loads of plants and goats and I wish we'd been seated at one of the circular booths. I started with a Del Cielo Brewing "Morena Mia" Amber Lager. We shared the goat empanadas, smoked salmon dip with a warm, fluffy everything pita, yolk-onomiyaki and house maple sausages. So much deliciousness! And since the Treehouse Hotel Silicon Valley is surrounded by all sorts of Google buildings, naturally some of their bikes were around. read more

My husband and and I didn't have a reservation and there was a 1 hour wait on a Friday night so we sat at the bar and that was great! The bartender was friendly and service was quick. We loved all the food we tried - goat empanadas, disco fries, and the steak. All were SO amazing with great flavors. I would order all of them again if I came back! Right when we walked in the ambience was warm and very hip. I loved all the design, color and decor. Vibes, vibes, vibes! Came here for a girls' night and it gave major LA energy. Love the indoor-outdoor setup and the decor is so cute. It's tucked away in a quieter part of Sunnyvale (about 10 mins from downtown) but feels up-and-coming. Our server recommended 2-3 plates per person since everything is shareable, but honestly, that would've been way too much. We ordered 2 apps (avocado dip + disco fries) and 1 pork shank wrap to share and it was plenty. Everything tasted really good. The pork was delicious. We also got drinks (3 alcoholic, 1 non-alc) and ended with 3 "gelatos." Total came out to $200+, which felt a little steep for what we ordered. The only small hiccup... the "gelato" was more like ice cream (honestly tasted like Tillamook), and our desserts took a little adventure before finding our table. We watched them pass us a few times and by the time they arrived, they were slightly melted. Funny, but not ideal. Service overall was attentive. Waters were refilled and staff checked in often. They did rapid-fire the menu the second we sat down which was a lot to process, but they were friendly throughout. It's part of a hotel and even the reception area is adorable. I'm so impressed with this restaurant! I saw it was connected to a hotel and next to the offices so I didn't have too high of an expectation but everything that we got was so flavorful and delicious. It was a really good mix of fusion dishes that we got. Goat empanada, chickpea fritters, three sauce chicken, pork belly noodles and the disco fries! The fries were my favorite, I think they were fried in coconut oil so it had a bit of coconut flavor so if you're not a fan of coconut, I wouldn't recommend it! Everything was so flavorful and we were so surprised by each dish that came out. There was some event going on so they had a filming notice at the front. The only one con that I have for this restaurant is that we waited over 10 mins for someone to get us seated. We went to the front and asked for 4 seats outdoors since we had the dogs (they are dog friendly btw so a plus) and we were told to wait 5 mins for them to get the table ready. I Had a chance to try Valley Goat and this was a wonderful experience. I went with the family and this is a nice spot going out with friends or even on a date night. The vibes are cozy and the interior is very cute. For food we ended up ordering: * Disco Fries - delicious with so much flavor, everyone loved this dish and kept munching on it. The zesty tangy flavor with the coconut caramel was divine * Chicken skewers - these were also delicious and very flavorful. The chicken was soft and tender, however, for the price we felt that the portion was very small * Skuna bay salmon - this was very yummy and well made and I really enjoyed the crispy brussel sprouts that it came with. They were nice and crunchy which I really liked munching on *Wood fired sprouted cauliflower - this was pretty yummy but much more on the simple side. You could tell it was wood fired which was nice and the sauce it came with was nice *Chickpea fritters - delish and unique, has a light Indian flavor but really thought this dish was really yum and would get again *sticky pork shank - this was yummy with fall of the bone pork shank in a sweet sticky sauce and came with lettuce wraps and sauce which was nice. The lettuce wraps made the dish feel lighter which was nice * branzino - our table really liked this dish as the fish was crispy and soft and went really really well with the pickled veggies. The sauce on this was delicious as well *sticky toffee pumpkin spice cake - this was ok, interesting flavor but couldnt taste the pumpkin as much *Mango with sticky rice - this was absolutely delish and a must try! I came here with a girlfriend for a girl's session of food and yap. Staff is super friendly, food is portioned well, food is great, and the overall ambience is just top-notch. When you arrive onto the property, the nearby valet attendance greet you with a smile and offer to assist you with which direction to head over to. Upon entering the establishment, the hosts greets you (and your party) with a smile. The waiters and waitresses are all very much attentive here. I appreciate the menu is heavy on the vegetables and presentation of the food is very aesthetically pleasing. At first, when I saw the pricing, I was a little bit iffy, however, the more that I ate the more that it started to make sense to me. Details, matter here, all the way down to the table napkins. Each plate is carefully crafted; each of your taste buds will thank you later which each bite that you take. Everything on this menu down to the drinks - both alcoholic and mocktails were superb. I was super excited when I discovered that my favorite Chicago restaurant opened its sister location here in Sunnyvale and I've already been back a couple of times. The space itself is gorgeous! Filled with plants, warm lighting, and a vibrant, modern feel. My favorite dishes so far are the crispy quinoa + tuna poke salad. I love the crispy quinoa so much that I'm seriously tempted to learn how to make it myself (it's that good). I also tried several other dishes: the empanadas, scones, matcha tres leches, and the potato crepe (available only during weekend brunch) that one was deliciously crispy and full of flavor. That said, I will note that the portions tend to be on the smaller side, so if you're going with a group or want to leave feeling truly full, it's good to plan for multiple dishes. I will definitely come back again! Tip: don't forget to check out the floral car at the hotel lobby! it's super cute! read more

Opening week lunch reservation took my cousin, brother, and me to Stephanie Izard's gorgeous new restaurant in Sunnyvale, but I procrastinated on this review. Really enjoyed her Chicago concepts, so was looking forward to the same level of cook and execution here. Chef Izard did come out and greet fans at the tables, which was very gracious of her. We ordered several appetizers and mains to share. The goat empanadas and chickpea fritters were excellent, and I also enjoyed the desserts. All the other dishes, from the spicy hand roll dip to the salmon bowl to the pork belly noodles to the three-sauce chicken were good, but not packing any wow factor. Many of the fusion flavor profiles were also similar for different dishes, and I wanted a wider range. Perhaps my expectations were too high, although I do hear that the brunch and dinner menus feature more standout items. It's just at this price point, and celebrity reputation, I expected more. I will certainly have other chances to re-evaluate, as I'm sure many of my friends will want to return. read more

Super Delicious!! My wife and I met my friend and his wife for lunch her last Sunday. This place is a hidden in a hotel gem!! Wow! The food is just wow! So delicious! Everything we had from Savory to Sweet dishes was fantastic! We ordered so many little tapas style (food sharing) that I forgot all the names of the dishes we ordered. I did take pictures so let your eyes do the feasting for you! The service was wonderful. Very helpful server and very personable! The ambiance is quite nice! Really nice brunch experience today: - beautiful space - feels like an indoor jungle, a few monstera leaves were tapping at my back at our corner booth seat, not intrusive at all, as a plant lady myself - wonderful staff throughout the meal especially our server Christian, warm, good timing, took our specific requests and made them happen - goat empanadas, flaky and delicious - poke - so many textures and super balanced - green beans, good but too salty - cocktails are great, ask your server for suggestions, had a couple rounds of kosho jacuzzi - the manager stopped by to see how things were going and how we were enjoying things which was so nice and unexpected -bathrooms at the front by the host stand Tip: free parking is to the right of all the structures, valet is $20, they kindly pointed me to the self parking - very easy to miss, just go to your right off Mathilda Definitely would recommend and head here again. read more

This place came highly hyped thanks to its critically acclaimed chef, and as a fan of one of their restaurants in Chicago, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food here. While the ambiance is very pretty and welcoming, the food just didn't deliver. The location feels somewhat isolated, situated in the middle of nowhere surrounded by Google campus buildings. It's also on hotel property, which makes parking confusing with separate Google, hotel, and restaurant parking areas. Out of everything I tried, I think the potatoes were the best thing on the menu. This might have been an off day or maybe the brunch menu isn't their strongest--I'm considering giving the dinner menu a try next time. read more
