Great brunch spot! I loved the interior, the food, and the overall vibe. It's located next to hotel, so there's plenty to do around the area. There's a great outdoor space with benches to relax on and even some outdoor games. I'd give the food . Everything we ordered was so unique. The empanadas are a must try. I honestly can't even describe how good they were. I wish I had more room to try more items on the menu, but even the potato crepe was filling enough for two people. Having been to Girl & the Goat in LA a few times, I feel like the sticky pork shank was significantly more dry at this location. Flavors were good though for everything else. This was my third time at Valley Goat. My first visit was incredible and set the bar really high. My second visit was disappointing, so I wasn't sure what to expect coming back. Thankfully, this third visit reminded me why I loved this place in the first place. This time, we basically ordered almost the entire menu, and overall the food was excellent. My favorite dish of the night was the Spicy Handroll Dip. It's the one item I look forward to every visit and I'd recommend it to anyone dining here. The Hamachi Poke with goat butter was another standout and remains one of the most unique and memorable dishes on the menu. The salmon was good, but so many of the other dishes were so creative and elevated that it ended up being overshadowed. That's more of a testament to how strong the rest of the menu is. They had unfortunately run out of the goat empanadas, so we ordered the vegetable empanadas instead. To our surprise, they were just as good. The buttery aroma coming off the puff pastry when they hit the table was absolutely mouthwatering, and the flavor lived up to the smell. One question for Valley Goat though: why was the tempura nori replaced with crackers for the Spicy Handroll Dip? The dip is still amazing, but the tempura nori chips took it to another level. The crunch and texture paired perfectly with the dip, and I'd love to see it make a comeback. The atmosphere was lively, the presentation was beautiful, and the service was excellent. A special thank you to Jake for taking such great care of us all night. He was attentive, friendly, and helped make the evening memorable. We have reservations at 4:15 pm, got there and the bar was very busy, but we have to wait for about 10 minutes before getting seated. The service was good, got our water and the servers when over the menu. We ordered the Disco fries to start, the coconut caramel with pickles jalapeno & red onions are perfect match on the fries. Next we got the Sticky Pork Shank, the shank is big and sticky, match with the pluot salad (peach, pickle onion, cucumber), add the hoisin mayo just great, lettuce could do without, maybe add jasmine rice work better than lettuce. I definitely want to come back for food, so this review is solely for their bar. First thing, the bar has a great selection of tequilas, whiskeys, and gin. The place is decorated with beautiful plants and gives off a modern feel. It's cozy and an excellent place for a good vibe with friends or coworkers. The bartenders are attentive and there's a good amount waiting to make drinks and serve which is a plus. You don't have to fight your way for a drink; there will be someone who will help. Me and my friend enjoyed their Goat espresso martini which had vodka, kumquat and their house-made espresso beans. The kumquat was an excellent mix which made the drink pop. The martini is originally supposed to have vsop cognac but unfortunately, they didn't have any in stock which is a bummer. I want to come back again for bites and try a few more cocktails. I've now been back and it's still great - and seems to still be pretty busy on random evenings. It's funny to see the crowd which is a mix of those who dress for a restaurant of its caliber and Sweatpants Billionaires. Everything was solid, but some things were a bit different than expected. Notes! - The Goat Fashioned and End of Valley are excellent cocktails. - The Olive Focaccia included cheese with a bit more funk than amateurs will be ready for. - The quinoa tuna was a winner, with the avocado being key. - To my surprise, the Disco Fries were so acid forward that they were hard to work through - though the sweet sauce helped. - The CandyCane Sundae was a surprise in a good way. It was a mishmash of items all of which were delicious, especially the part reminiscent of "magic shell" ice cream topping from decades ago. Located by the treehouse hotel, plenty of parking but lot can get busy at times. When we made a reservation there was no specification of indoor or outdoor seating. Unfortunately we were seated outdoor and it was quite windy and chilly despite the heat lamps. We tried the goat empanadas which were good the spicy salmon dip which was delicious. The wood fired cauliflower was just ok. For the main we had the short rib which was pretty large and the pickled salad accompaniment was spot on. I made a reservation for a party of 4 on a Monday evening at 7:45 pm, as that was the earliest option they had after 6 PM when I booked. The restaurant didn't look too busy but could also be due to the rainy weather that night. My party decided to order a cocktail each, which are about $20. The cocktails did sound unique but overall low alcohol content. It did take some time for our drinks to come out after ordering. This place is one where you share the dishes family style. We decided to get 2 appetizers, 1 plate, and 1 bigger plate to split amongst us 4: - Goat Empanadas (appetizer): For $20, you get 2 empanadas along with a green sauce to pair with it. We each had 0.5 empanadas along, which tasted good with the sauce. - Disco Fries (appetizer): For $24, you get a hefty bowl of loaded fries. These might've been my favorite to be honest. Since they are quite packed, you do find them to be quite filling compared to if you had just regular fries. - Hamachi Poke (small plate): $28. Kind of underwhelming to be honest. Did not really leave much of an impression. - Wood-Fired Mary's Chicken (bigger plate): $52 of chicken and some veggies. The chicken is quite tender. Didn't quite like that we had to do quite some work to cut the chicken off the bone but at least the meat came off quite easily and was not dry. Been here many times and the service is a hit or miss. Food is a hit every time. The hosts at the front can sometimes give a cold, snooty attitude. The servers are sometimes on top of it and sometimes they disappear for awhile and we have to flag down a randomly passing employee. Came to try brunch. I just remembered something that I had to add to how amazing the service was. Usually when I dine solo I like to watch the tvs but they were playing women's softball on every screen at the bar when I arrived. There was yet another bartender, who I never even spoke to, but I think he could sense my confusion at the women's softball and saw that I perked up when they started posting the NBA playoff statistics during a break. Shortly after the TV screen closest to me switched to the NBA playoffs! I want to thank this young psychic/empath for helping me out. I've been dying to try this spot after several coworker recommendations, and I was finally able to go for a team lunch (12 people). I get the hype-a James Beard Award-winning chef, Northern California focused ingredients and menu, all in a bright dining space filled with plants and natural elements, make it a spot that will impress friends and clients/coworkers. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation, and waited around 10 minutes to be seated. A few of our people were running late, but that gave us time to peruse the menus and order drinks. A few notes on the food and beverage before I dive into individual items: The drinks are fairly mild; which worked out well for lunch hour, but I personally wouldn't pay $20 for a drink that didn't even give me a little buzz. All of the food is served "family style" and they recommend sharing-the plates serve 2-3 at most in my opinion, so we doubled up on most appetizers to make sure our whole group got to try some of each. We probably should have ordered three of some (most). We ordered the following appetizers and I split two entrees with another person: *PITA + DIPS (carrot-tahini dip, tzatziki): the carrot-tahini dip was tasty and the pita was warm and topped with garlic which was a pleasant addition. But if this is supposed to be shareable, it would be nice if it came with more than one pita. *AVOCADO DIP (chile lime crunch, queso fresco, plantain chips): great flavor, and I enjoyed the plantain chips as a unique alternative to chips. *'SPICY HANDROLL' DIP (tuna, hamachi, chili sesame, nori chips): This was my favorite appetizer; the flavor combination was delicious and the spice level was perfect (medium hot). *GOAT EMPANADAS (limey huacatay): Don't be intimidated by the goat meat! It was super flavorful and not gamey. The empanadas were STUFFED and I was pleasantly surprised by these. The dipping sauce was a nice complement! *VEGGIE EMPANADAS (limey huacatay): I had a small bite of these, and they were good, but I preferred the goat empanadas since they were more flavorful. *SAUTÉED GREEN BEANS (fish sauce vinaigrette, cashews): WOW-these were absolutely delicious! This was a hearty portion; the sauce was mouthwatering, and the green beans were cooked perfectly (crunchy but cooked, not mushy). This is a MUST order! *THREE-SAUCE CHICKEN (chili lime crunch, soy glaze, hoisin mayo, lettuce cup): The flavor was really good, but I wish I had ordered more sauce since the chicken was a little on the dry side, and there were a lot of crispy noodles. This portion is perfect to share for 2-3. *PORK BELLY NOODLES (wood-fired pineapple, pickled veggies, chili crunch): several folks were surprised that this was a cold noodle dish and weren't fans because of that. I personally really liked the pork belly, and the noodles had a nice spice level that was balanced by the charred pineapple. I was glad I got the heads up that they were cold noodles so I wasn't disappointed. I think it's worth ordering if you like a cold noodle dish! Another good one to share between 2-3 people. *HOT SPRING SPRITZ (cucumber yuzu kosho, lime, pineapple, sparkling wine): Very refreshing, and was a nice beverage to balance the flavors of the food. The only nit I have is with the service-several people (including me) didn't get their drinks until most of the food was out, and we had to ask about them; there were also a few dishes that didn't arrive until we were almost finished with the entrees (one being a shrimp salad, which I wouldn't think should take so long). I do believe the slower service was due to our group being larger, but based on reviews, it could also be dependent on time of day. Overall, I enjoyed all of the dishes and think this is a good spot to hit if you're looking for an eclectic and elevated menu; however, it's a bit on the pricey side for the portions. read more

After we asked if a dish has cheese, he then made sure that we knew about the dairy products in all the other dishes that we ordered and we loved that. Highlight of the night was definitely my Desert Sunset (I asked for no spices), the Roasted Oysters, the Salmon and the Sticky Pork Shank. The drink - fruity, fresh, with blanco tequila, what's not to love? The oysters - fresh, juicy, and was the perfect bite with the cracker that came together. The salmon - melt in your mouth yumminess with the almond brittle on the bottom. The Pork Shank - we especially loved the crispy skin. The empanadas, while not bad, personally I think they are a bit overpriced. The Shrimp Salad and the Spiced Fries, we all found them to be a bit too sour. I've seen and heard great things about Valley Goat so I was super excited to try it! We booked a lunch reservation for a table of 8 about two weeks in advance. Parking here isn't the best especially if you're doing during prime time, but I believe they have valet which is nice. The aesthetic was initially why I picked this place for our holiday team lunch as I know that it's beautifully decorated inside and super picture-worthy, but the food is what won me over. A lot of the dishes that we ordered have a heavy hand with lime which I personally love, so I enjoyed almost everything! Some favorites were the Olive Raisin Focaccia, Spicy Handroll Dip, and Disco Fries. I would order those plus the Crispy Brussels Sprouts again, but I probably didn't care too I much for the Three-Sauce Chicken, Spicy Fish Tostados, and Sautéed Green Beans. The pork shank was prob the best thing we ordered. The flavor was present and the meat was definitely tender! We loved the pickled veggies that came with it. The veg itself was more similar to a tougher broccolini. The bottoms of the stems were on the woody side, but not inedible. Wished it was more tender overall, but that's on the quality of the produce itself, not the way it was cooked. **Sticky pork shank** -- Extremely decadent and SWEET. It was cooked perfectly, tender and moist on the inside with a crunchy, crispy exterior. The flavor wasn't my favorite thing since it was too sweet. I couldn't eat too much of this. The spiced melon (cantalope) on the side was weird! As much as I want to appreciate the uniqueness of that choice, I would've liked something more acidic with some bitterness, not sweet, to accompany the meat -- like daikon! **Wood-fired Whole Branzino** -- Very fresh fish, grilled and de-boned to perfection! My husband truly is picky with his seafood, and he loved this. I liked this more than the pork shank, but I wished they kept that mayo-based drizzle off. It was reminiscent of tartar sauce, which I normally like, but I felt it distracted from the Thai flavors of the dish. Watch out for the stray bone -- we got one. I've been so excited to try this restaurant since learning that Stephanie Izard was opening a branch in the bay area! as a huge fan of Girl & the Goat, I loved how they brought their iconic dishes to Valley Goat, but gave them a slight twist. Beautiful patio and outdoor decor. the interior is just as stunning: large open space, lots of plants growing from the shelves on the walls and hanging from the ceilings, with dim lighting and patterned booths and wallpaper. There were small touches of goat throughout the restaurant: a small statue near the entrance, a goat embroidered on the dinner napkin. For the dinner service, we got the following: - goat empanadas: flaky crust, the goat filling was flavorful and not gamey at all. paired very well with the limey huacatay sauce. - crispy quinoa tuna poke: the fish was fresh and cut in large chunks, with avocado, onions, and mint. the quinoa added a nice crunch but proportionately there was more quinoa than I was expecting. - pork shank: incredibly tender, with a huge portion size. the skin was a little too crispy, where it almost seemed dry. the pork was covered in a hoisin sauce that was fantastic, but very overpowering. Valley Goat has certainly made waves for the dining experience and ambience. Upon arrival, the hostesses did not show any welcoming hospitality, and gave more of a look that I don't belong there. Had a table reserved for 5pm but waited about 15 minutes for a table (now I saw another reviewer experienced this today), but as there were plenty of open tables and others that arrived after us were seated instantly-- that left me baffled and craving for a cocktail. And that's just what we did. The server was great and provided excellent recommendations. I got the End of the Valley and Kosho Jacuzzi. Both were recommend by the server-- kudos on well done cocktails. I liked both but preferred the Kosho more for the tart flavor profile and salt rimmed glass. My friend got the Blush Spritz, which was on the sweeter side and spot on. Now for the food. The good: huge portion size and everything was cooked just right. A lot of options featuring local and fresh ingredients, farm to table style. Ambience is perfect, decor has got to be top 10 in the South Bay. Clearly, this is an important restaurant for the food scene in the South Bay area. The bad: the flavor profile of some dishes was an attempt on Southeast Asian fusion. As a Southeast Asian, some of the flavor combinations were confusing to me. One example is the branzino. The presentation was like a Filipino bangus dish. The Branzino itself was charred and tender, cooked just perfectly. However, the toppings were a strange mix. There were pickled red onions, fried garlic crisps, and cilantro, but then there was a ton of creamy sauce (maybe something with mayo?) which I was not a fan of. It seemed like the same sauce on the disco fries. I equate it to ordering a vinaigrette salad and then someone throws on a slab of kewpie mayo. This is just my suggestion to put less creamy sauce with a branzino or maybe on the side. The pork shank meat itself was also cooked perfectly. The meat fell off the bone and it was amazingly tender, but the flavor profile of the glaze was the kind used for Thai chili wings. The glaze felt too sweet for a roasted pork shank. Would've nailed it for me if it was more balanced with balanced salty/sweet taste than favoring a sweeter glaze flavor profile. The pork shank was favored over the branzino for us. TL, DR: good vibes and ambience, excellent cocktails. Hostesses could try a bit harder. We all had a long day, but waiting that long when there's empty seats and seeing others seated instantly is the opposite of welcoming and makes you feel ignored. The whole experience changes with how you are treated as a good paying customer. Great attentive servers, who give good recs. Flavor profile is the attempt of Southeast Asian fusion, which I can be critical of, and I was not fond of this particular combination of toppings on the branzino. I still think it's an important gem in the Bay Area food scene, especially in the South Bay. I would come back (not soon) for the cocktails and small plates, but not the mains. read more

Before 4 PM, the afternoon tea service is only available at the bar counter, with an exclusive snack menu provided. The restaurant has a spacious parking lot with plenty of parking spaces. Lush green plants fill the courtyard, creating a serene little oasis. There is also a greenhouse where guests can stroll around after their meal if they are not in a hurry, which is such a delightful experience. The dipping sauces paired with the snacks are the restaurant's signature, each with a distinct flavor. We ordered three varieties in total. Two of them are spicy, while the avocado sauce is an absolute must-try and highly recommended. The pastry crust is perfectly crispy, and I will definitely order this again next time. read more

GENTLEMEN, BOOKMARK THIS SPOT TO SURPRISE YOUR DATE FOR DATE NIGHT! The ambiance and theming absolutely blew me away and it made for a perfect date night restaurant. The restaurant is housed in the back area of a vibey hotel called Treehouse. It was slightly confusing where to go from the parking lot but I also attribute it to the dark. Lots of spots for parking as well. We ordered the goat empanadas, spicy hand roll dip, crispy brussel sprouts, sticky pork shank and tropic pop. Overall, the food was good but not mindblowingly great. My favorite was the goat empanadas which I would give an 8/10 with the other dishes averaging a 7/10. I wish there was a dish that truly blew me out of the water or was unique. The price point is definitely on the higher end so be prepared to pay a pretty penny as most dishes are shareable/smaller portion sizes, meaning you'll have to buy more. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and would come once in a while. I also hope to try other dishes and perhaps their seasonal special next time. read more

An experience was to be had at valley goat! Really fun to go with a group to order different plates to try. I loved the hummus, sticky pork shank, and the mango sticky rice! Their empanadas are yummy too. I thought the veggie was a little bit better. The interior is also filled with lots of plants! Even up on the ceiling.
