A serious breath of fresh air in OKC and a breath taking view! Some friends and I came in time to catch the bar menu on a Friday afternoon. We were the only people in there at the time which was a bit awkward, but either way it was great. The drink choices were unique and delicious. We had heard great things about Vast and finally had an opportunity to try it out for our anniversary . Due to covid, there was no valet parking. But the garage was open and the attendant was very helpful. We arrived in the 49th floor and we were warmly greeted and seated immediately. They put us right by the window overlooking Bricktown. Whatever you have heard about the view, it doesn't do it justice. Now for the good stuff. We got the Chef's Charcuterie and Cheese Board. Very tasty with meats, cheeses, dried cherries, pecans, sauces and grilled sourdough. My wife and I both ordered the rack of lamb, after asking our server her opinion between the ribeye and lamb. It was delicious. Cooked medium rare, the cut of meat was amazing. So flavorful and tender. It was accompanied by Asparagus, squash and Vast Potatoes mashed potatoes fried in a wonton). Very delish. Because it was our anniversary we got free desert. We settled on the gooey butter cake. Pictured. Tastes better than it looks. The service was competent and relaxed. No scripts. I hate those servers that puke up corporate scripts. She was perfect. The whole experience was first class. I feel sorry for the people who have given this place low ratings. Best meal I maybe have ever had! Came here following my engagement and the staff was so nice and brought complimentary champagne as a congratulations. The service was great. Came for our 30th wedding anniversary .... during the protests. We almost canceled because there were thousands of people out already anD it had been dangerous the last two nights. We were able to get great parking so it felt fairly safe and we went up to dinner. I really wanteD to give 5 stars, but couldn't . I really wanted risotto, but due to current circumstances they had a very limited menu . we ordered steak, a great Caesar salad and the shrimp appetizer with sweet potato polenta...which was the highlight of the meal. This restaurant has great ambiance, superb service, and a fantastic menu. The Old Fashion I had was super smooth. I believe they used an excellent Rye Whiskey ( Boss hog). The Hors d'oeuvres were tasty; the main course was perfectly cooked, and I had scallops, sometimes a hit or miss when dining out. Our server, Rusty, was attentive, fun, friendly, and superb! I would go back and ask for Rusty again as our server. The scenery was good, with a great view of the city skyline. This place was very nice. All you can eat but we were served by the chefs, cafeteria style. The garlic butter on the steak was awesome. The fruit and cheese plate was delicious, especially the smoked Gouda. The catfish taco was a little salty to me but it was still very good. The " fancy potatoes" were a whole spoon full, the vegetables hard as a rock and the steak was beyond chewy. Steak that price should melt in your mouth. There was much hype about this place, down to the dress code. The views were admittedly stunning but that's all. For the folks sitting on the window sides of the table, getting in and out was impossible without the folks on the ends having to move. Since lunch is buffet, this was rather inconvenient. The buffet area is hidden and not easy to find despite getting instructions from the server. Then, the food line starts on the opposite side from where patrons enter causing confusion. The salad/dessert island did not flow well into or out of the main courses. The food itself, not great. At $27 per person, the menu was disappointing: brisket, ribs, chicken, Mac & cheese, vegetables. Who wants to gnaw on finger foods when there's a dress code? The brisket was okay but I've definitely had better. The beet/orange soup had no flavor. The dessert was disappointing too. The s'mores krispie was tasteless and the crème brûlée mushy. When we arrived for our dinner we were seated in a cozy little spot in the corner next to the windows with a spectacular view. I say cozy, because we had a partition that made it almost feel like a room of its own. All of the customers were seated a few tables apart, spreading everyone out. The staff were all wearing masks and they had hand sanitizer readily available. We started off with the Chef's Charcuterie and Cheese board. This was a tasty selection of locally sourced cheeses, cured & smoked meats, grilled sourdough, and some unique spreads. If you enjoy exploring a variety of flavors in your meal, be sure to try this. For dinner I had the Pan Seared Rack of Lamb. This was perfected in a Sherry sun-dried tomato reduction. My mouth still waters when I think about. I now know why this is one of their most popular dishes and I completely concur. I did ask for mine to be cooked medium instead of the usual medium rare though. I'm very happy with my choice. They were still very tender and juicy. This plate also came with asparagus, squash and the famous Vast potato. I'm in love with this potato. The crispy outside that meshes with the creamy potato-chive inside is superb. My husband had the New York Strip Steak that was reverse-smoked. Of course, I had to try. Amazing flavor and smokiness locked in. This also came with the same veggies and that delectable Vast potato. For dessert, we ended with a small variety: creme brûlée, chocolate pudding w/cream & strawberry shortcake. My favorite of the three was the chocolate pudding as it had a certain richness to it. The creme brûlée & strawberry shortcake were excellent as well though. Management came by to check on us and our waitress and servers were topnotch, quickly taking care of our needs and answering all of our questions. Glorious, is how I'd describe this experience. I came here a couple of times. I sat at the bar and at a table, and the service was pretty much the same. The drinks are very good. The meats are very good. I am not a fan of the whole no sides thing. They have a vast potato, which is mashed potatoes in a dumpling wrapper, and it had way too much pepper in it. They only serve asparagus, but if they have it in-house, then you can get brocollini. I just think it's a lot more enjoyable to be able to pick your sides and Mix Match. I won't be returning simply because I'm tired of the same side dishes. read more

I had an evening reservation for a date. Overall, I'd say you're paying for the view and the atmosphere. O-Bar has a great view for half the price of Vast and I'd argue the food is better at O-Bar. The food was good at Vast, but not exceptional and certainly not for the price we paid. The best thing we ordered was the butterscotch crème brûlée. That was worth it. The wine selection is extensive, so if you're into wines then it's a good choice. Unfortunately, you cannot request a table by the window when making reservations. I was told it's a "first come first serve" basis for window seating, which defeats the purpose of reserving and was severely disappointing considering I was making plans for a date. Black Walnut is another upscale place (cheaper than Vast) and they will accommodate window seating for date nights. Vast is perhaps better for lunch dates. For evening dates, I'd personally recommend O-Bar or Black Walnut. read more

View: The View is amazing from up here, and if this review was only for the view of OKC and its sprawling metropolis this would be 4.5-5 stars. Food: Upon being seated we were given drink menus and the menu. Friend asked for a vegetarian menu given he is trying a "new diet". I ultimately ordered the regular 3 course meal (Shrimp Bisque with 6 oz filet and cheesecake) and he ordered the 3 course vegetarian meal (Apple Onion Bisque, Beet Steak, and some dessert). My other friend ordered an Apple Onion Bisque, the 6 oz Filet, and a Drink (sidecar). They brought us some bread to nibble on and our 1st course came relatively quickly. I enjoyed the Shrimp bisque (although did not taste much shrimp) however the Apple Onion Bisque wasn't as good. This is when things went wayyy downhill. Somehow between our 1st course and 2nd course something went wrong in the kitchen and we waited and waited and waited....around 30 minutes into the wait for our second course our waiter came around and offered us strawberry sorbet (Dessert?!?!?!?!?!) and apologized for the wait and noted that the kitchen was very busy. Note, at this time other tables who had been seated after us had already gotten their main dishes. Around another 10-15 minutes after the dessert sorbet arrived, we finally received our main dish. the beet steak my friend received was average at best and the steak was definitely over salted. The cheesecake at the end was good. Service: Waiter and manager were definitely apologetic about the extremely long wait we experienced and they offered a discount on the bill. Servicewise they did their best to keep us from getting hangrier than we already were. I commend their efforts! Overall I may or may not give this place another try. The long wait between the 1st course and 2nd course as well as the oversalted filet and the average food (the beet steak which i tried was probably the worst) is the reason for the stars and review. I can see now why this restaurant is only 3.5 stars on yelp and there are some diners and other restaurants rated above them even with the stunning view they had. read more

A couple of times a year Vast hosts "Wine for the People" which is Hors d'oeuvre, which are amuse bouche's + a little bit more substance. Today I went again and it was awesome. I attended a business dinner in a gorgeous private dining room in October at Vast. It was a bit of a maze for us to find our way up to the room... but there were people stationed along the way to direct us. Since our meal was limited to a selection of entrees, we selected our appetizer and entree from a table on our way in. Very handy. I chose the Caesar salad and salmon. Both were delicious and well prepared. I know a few people opted for the vegan "crab" cakes and they were pleased with it as well. I'm sure the folks who had the meat dishes were happy too. Vast Event Center is wonderful! The space has floor to ceiling windows that overlooks a large section of OKC! Breathtaking views, food that is mouth-watering, hip and trendsetting! The staff is uber friendly with a look that they are genuinely having a good time! Photo booth was fun to participate in as well as watch others find new, inventive ways to pose! The wine list was formidable as well as the knowledge imparted! I wished the lines for this had not been so long or there had been wait staff to serve as each wine was discussed. Ok, first things, pinkies up and throw the iron to your nice clothes. (Please note this is not our first time at a restaurant like this and we knew what the expectations are) I just want to make sure others are aware. They offer valet parking for $10. We utilized that instead of parking elsewhere and walking over. But, when we followed the signs to valet parking there was not an attendant anywhere. So we called since our reservation was in 30 minutes to ask for some guidance. Turns out the attendant comes down 15 min prior to 5pm. We did not see that noted anywhere on social media, signage or the website. It is possible we missed something. The valet situation gave us negative thoughts already and we did not even enter the building to get to Vast. We finally got our parking situation situated and walked in the building. The moment you walk inside the Devon Tower to get in the elevator, I felt way under dressed and my wallet as well. The elevator went fairly quick to get to the 49th floor. The hostesses were kind and courteous. We were seated within 5 minutes from arriving. We were a party of 5, three adults and two kids (6 & 11). We were seated in a booth/seat table. It was slightly cramped. We also felt pushed back away from others.... did we smell? Joking, Oh my goodness joking. It was nice though to be sat back from the window and see the sunset from multiple angles. So that is a bonus to these seats. The seating was fine. But, we could hear every conversation happening between staff. At one point a male staff member (chef expediting the orders? ) yelled, "I need a cheese plate", when they were in the kitchen. Laughter ensued by those around him. Maybe it was super clear and loud because the door had opened at the time they were expediting orders. Then you had staff talking about their evening for after work and what was planned for the evening. Then two employees ran into each other going through the one door behind us. They made comments and then the one male employee said, "oh, $h@t". You pretty much get the drift on how the evening went. I will not give anymore stories. I just felt like I should be able to have a quiet dinner in a place like Vast. I should not have to hear the behind the scenes work and employees personal life. For the amount of money being paid, our expectations for a place like Vast are high. They place that on themselves, but do not live up to those expectations. The food all around had no wow factor. The caesar salad was very salty, the dressing that is. My mom said she almost coughed with one of her bites and had to take a quick sip of water. The cheese plate and items that came paired with the cheese were delicious!! But, there was no wow factor with the plating. It was as if they just placed it on the platter and called it a day. The cost for the cheese plate is $14 which is perfect for what I got. My daughter's chicken dish was delicious. She had no complaints. I also tried it. My son had the duck and he enjoyed that. He liked the flavors. I had their salmon and loved the flavors from the yogurt and Chimichurri. My husband got the surf and turf. The scallop he had was delicious, and cooked perfectly. There was half of a megalodon shrimp. He thought he was getting a full shrimp. So there may have been a miscommunication somewhere. But, he did like his meal. My mother's filet was cooked medium rare instead of medium well, like she had ordered it. So she had to wait for a new filet. The downside to it all was by the time the waiter got to us to see how the food came out I was already done my salmon and my daughter was halfway done her chicken. We waited too long for someone to check up on us after the food came out of the kitchen. I felt bad she ate her food while most of us were done. A manager (dressed nicely) came by and apologized. The food all tasted good. But, there just was no wow factor to it. We have all eaten at other fine dining establishments, but felt that Vast was vastly inferior. We were there for a celebration and they had a tray of mini desserts come out. It was nice to know they took notice on our occasion and had a nice gesture for us. Ok, bathrooms. You all know I was going to comment on those. The bathroom was nice and clean. The tissue boxes in the women's room were empty. The stalls definitely gave you nice privacy. My stall was really dark, I think the light bulb was out. Pretty much I feel like Vast did not live up to the expectations we had for them.
