Vast is a steak house located on the 49th floor of Oklahoma's tallest buildings. they are known for their Steaks and seafood dishes but most importantly their desserts! OMG!! They have one of the best pastry chefs in the state and he is just wonderful. They also have a wonderful lunch buffet that is very affordable. It has been a long time since I last went to VAST. Everytime I went, I really enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and service. One of my favorite aspects of VAST, is how there can be special occasions, business meetings, happy hour, friends meeting friends etc...all happening at the same time with plenty of space. The view is amazing, the food was perfect, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I mentioned at the beginning of the evening that my boyfriend is seriously allergic to shellfish and they took it so seriously that they did not serve him the potato dumpling that came with the meal because it was cooked in the same oil as shellfish. The ricotta gnudi was sooo good and my steak was as rare as I was hoping it would be. This is probably the first restaurant that was able to comprehend and execute a blue rare steak. My boyfriend and I are very heavily tattooed and mostly face a lot of judgement from places like this but the staff treated us like anyone else. I made a reservation a few days ahead of time and they put us in a corner with privacy and a magnificent view of the city and partial sunset. Visited for a rep-dinner for work. Service was nice and friendly. The two wine choices were neither very good, about average. The appetizers were good. The entrees were average, definitely doesn't measure up to The Ranch or Mahoganey's. For the travel and hassle of parking, definitely wasn't impressed. I have been wanting to check out Vast for the longest time, but didn't think I'd want to dish out so much money for what many have deemed average. But then I heard they had a $20 lunch buffet and I had to stop by. Reservations aren't necessarily required but are definitely recommended. My two friends and I made one for around 11:30 or 12 since this buffet is only available from 11am-1:30pm. Finding parking downtown wasn't too bad but still, nobody likes parking downtown. I've been to the Devon Tower one other time a long time ago, so just getting to see some of the inside of it again was nice. They have a nice infinity pool, fountain looking thing which was pretty neat. Anyways, we took the elevator to the top floor which didn't take as long as we were expecting. We were immediately greeted and taken to our table as we got out of the elevator. The website says to dress somewhat professional but we all forgot and wore pretty casual clothing. I was also asked to remove my hat before going into the main dining area. I don't mind or anything but just something to note. At least they're not too strict on dress code. I was expecting a fairly large buffet, but it's pretty small with the intended focus being attention to detail. It's more than enough for a plate of different kinds of food, but you definitely need to try everything on the buffet line to get your money's worth. I was really hoping for some kind of fish entrée but I heard the menu changes for different days of the week. I went on a Wednesday and they had vegetable pasta, crawfish jambalaya, sautéed potatoes, and some kind of lentil soup. For the meats, they had pork slices, fried chicken, and roast beef. All cut and served by the chefs with an assortment of sauces to try. They also had a cold food bar available next to the dessert area. Other than the dessert, nothing was really mind blowing. The experience of being high in the sky and acting fancy makes the experience, not the food. None of it was bad by any means, just nothing that really made us take a moment and say "wow." The dessert station is a decent size and they had all a couple different things to choose from. Fruits, cheese cakes, other cannoli's, creme brulee, etc. I couldn't eat some of it because I don't eat chocolate, but my friends loved it. I definitely enjoyed the creme brulee though. Best I've had in awhile. I'll probably come back on a day when more seafood is offered or more of a beef/steak option is available. I don't even know if they have it, but I'll have to come back to try their food again. For $20, it's a fair deal for the quality of the food paired with the nice view. read more

My husband and I had dinner here last night. It was very spur of the moment and a late reservation set for 9 pm but we were seated extremely promptly with a window view. The view in itself is absolutely incredible. The drinks were great but a bit weak in my opinion. I had two cosmos ($13 each) and my honey had the thunder mule ($10) I believe it was called. For my entree, I had the rack of lamb which came with the sweet glaze, flash fried potato, asparagus and carrots. So delicious! I would eat it again in a heart beat. My husband ordered the Rib Eye and it cut like butter! Excellent flavor! We were given little random horsd'oeuvres throughout the course of our meal. The portion is a bit small and we're in the south so that little potato just is not sufficient enough, even though it is tasty. Our ticket with tip came to be $200. read more

Rude! You always pay good money while there. It's not cheap, food is nominal at best, but I get that! But come on! We bring family to Vast for the view. I forgive the rest. Yet there was a huge issue to be able to take pictures of the city! Isn't this why people go there? Every visit to Vast has been a treat. I've been for lunches, dinners, and just drinks. Service is always incredible, and the food, oh my. One of the best lunch buffets in town for the price of $19.95; and the lunch deserts are spectacular. Great for date nights. If they have the pork tomahawk on the dinner menu, get that (or a steak). I came here for my birthday and oh my gosh everything was amazing! The drinks were all very delicious and different. We started with shrimp appetizer, it was very small but good, we added one extra shrimp for $5 to equal 4 large shrimp. Then I had the butternut squash salad and wow so good and never would have thought the pairings would work so well together! My boyfriend got the wedge salad and said it was great as well. I ordered the chicken entree and wowza there's nothing bad I can say about it. My boyfriend ordered the surf and turf and the steak just melted In Your mouth and was cut using only the side of his fork. Dessert was a chocolate sheet cake mmmmmmmm. I love this place! My wife and I really enjoyed our time eating along with a beautiful view after 9 pm. I suggest getting the shrimp opener with the ribeye (for me) and a HUGE NY strip for my wife. Dessert was also impressive. The staff 'Arron' was very good. Will be back for sure. read more

This place is def for the ambiance. You're paying for the view and the atmosphere, and it feels like a place for people that are celebrating. That being said there are a few hits and a few misses for me. The good: the view can't be beat in okc, the filet I tried was really good and cooked perfectly, the drinks are top notch (my favorite was the forbidden gin something that used the wanderfolk gin made in Guthrie!), and I was very surprised by how good the red pepper bisque was (it has some spice to it, would def order again if I ever go back).The misses: the salad I ordered was good but very messy to eat and I would have preferred the mixed greens to have been cut into smaller pieces. The service was just ok, (in their defense I was with a group of 12) I dropped my fork on my first bite of my entree and asked the waiter for another but never got one-- literally finished my meal eating with my hands, super classy. The cheese plate is NOT worth it, very much felt like an after thought. I order cheese plates regularly and I had high hopes given the level of this restaurant but I was very disappointed-- skip it for sure. read more

What a great spot on a clear night overlooking the downtown lights. Service is on point too. Food was ok but the view brings my star rating up one. With all the construction it was tough finding a way to enter the building, but once you're in there's plenty of help to get you up to the top of one of the tallest buildings in the city. Me and my girlfriend went there for the first time on Friday night, the place was pretty much empty but we still had to wait for someone to come to our table for about 5 minutes. We ordered an appetizer and 2 steaks, our appetizer took about 12-15 minutes to be brought to our table which is not too bad, however our steaks took a little over an hour.... we got seated at the table at 9:40 and we didn't get our steaks until 10:45 considering that the place was empty and we were the only people in our dining room...... Stuff seemed careless for the most part, they checked on us maybe 3-4 times in an hour.... Food: We went to Mahogany steak house a couple weeks prior to that and their food was way way better then food at Vast..... our check at Vast came up to $170 before the tip and if I'm paying this much I'm expecting an excellent service and a great food which we didn't get that night... The only positive thing was the view, it was amazing! Other then the view there is no reason to go there, there are places in the same price range but with much better food. I'm giving 2 starts because the place like that should have way better service and should show more care about their customers. read more

Vast brunch is a great deal! $25 for all you can eat. The menu rotates, so I went during the time they had an Asian inspired menu. The curry chicken was really good and the veggie medley had a good kick. Pineapple rice wasn't my favorite, but my friends loved it. I loved the desserts, especially the creme brûlée. The secret to Vast is their bar. Their bar costs about as much as any other bar in the city, the drinks are great, and you still get to enjoy the fantastic view! Superb food, excellent service, and unbeatable ambience in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City. Valet parking (at The Colcord) and street parking alike available. (Bear in mind, though, that the seemingly endless construction in downtown Oklahoma City can make parking nutty at times.) We'd suffered through The Skirvin's declining service at our annual Thanksgiving Day lunch with friends from Edmond, and it was this same bunch of friends in question who discovered Vast's Thanksgiving Day buffet back in November 2015. We went last year (2016) for Thanksgiving with our friends and now -- quite honestly -- can't imagine returning to The Skirvin on the holiday. We went to Vast for Thanksgiving Day again yesterday (2017). Gorgeous views. Again, terrific ambience. Again, OUTSTANDING table service. Private dining rooms available (with reservations). I for one think it's a tad chintzy to charge three bucks for coffee when I'm already spending fifty bucks plus tax and tip per head for the buffet, but, hey, if that's the worst thing I can find to kvetch about, well, believe me when I say that Vast is doing A-OK in my book. read more

I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is a typical Oklahoma fine dining experience- nice, but not too stuffy. The food quality is excellent and everything I've had here has been very flavorful. The prices are typical for this type of restaurant. The chefs are great about special requests- I usually just ask for them to "make me anything vegan" and have never been disappointed. I've had some excellent pasta dishes and desserts as a result. If you'd like to enjoy the view without having a full dinner or breaking the bank, anyone can go up to the open seating bar and enjoy a cocktail in the lounge area. Their drinks are great and the bartenders are friendly- it's a great way to start an evening on the town. The view is great day or night- during the day, you can see most of the OKC metro area and beyond. read more

I am so glad we had saved this experience for a special occasion. Kasey surprised me with reservations for my birthday this week, and I think Chef Kurt has been there long enough that he's already started to impact the experience. We got there about 20 minutes before our reservation and started with cocktails and a view. Kasey's Manhattan and my Saint Germain cocktail were both perfect, and getting to enjoy the view is a big part of going to Vast. For a starter we shared the beet salad and the lobster ravioli. Absolutely delicious, and a small starter is about all the lobster I ever want since it is so rich. For dinner, I had the Native-Amber brined chicken breast, which was better than any non-fried chicken I've ever had, but also it may have been a little bit pan fried since the skin had a really wonderful crispness. Kasey had the pork with risotto, and it was absolutely amazing. I was glad he let me steal so many bites. We just had wine by the glass, which was fine, but we never even saw the bottle list. I was sort of surprised they don't bring that automatically. No problem, just maybe something that should be tweaked. Dessert was delicious: I had the strawberry shortcake and Kasey had the bananas foster, which was almost like a sopapilla with banana goodness on the inside. It was good enough that I hope you'll indulge me the critic inside, more about the experience than the food, just some things seem a little off-putting. I'm sure there are some finer points they are working on with staff. I keep hearing that there aren't enough properly trained servers in OKC, and I have to say, if they're not at Vast, I'm not sure where they are. Our server was perfectly fine, but not Vast caliber. Here are some irksome things: when describing specials, just say "The chicken is pan seared" instead of saying "The chicken is gonna be pan seared." The sauce is gonna be a reduction, the desert is gonna be a truffle... She probably said "gonna" about 20 times. They also probably need a little more standardization of server uniforms, hair, makeup, and jewelry (if jewelry is allowed at all.) I really feel freaked out every time you play with your watch while talking about food you're going to serve us. Finally, I wish they didn't all have to wear their badges prominently on their clothes - that's more like an airport restaurant than some of the finest dining in OKC. Props for the valet, which is a great (complimentary) set up: they must call down to the valet when they validate your parking, because our car was ready and waiting for us when we got down to the street level. Overall, I just can't wait to go back. Oh, and it wasn't much more than Rococo was when we went the week before for our anniversary, in case you're thinking it is going to be astronomically expensive. read more

Go for the views. I got to drop by Vast last week for a party and tonight for dinner with my family. The views are incredible and you should go. No reservation needed, just sit at the bar. They have only been open for 5 days, so I'm going to go easy on them. I'll try not to be harsh. We started off with salad, quail app, and soup. The salad was fresh greens and had a good dressing. The quail appetizer looked yummy, but my brother didn't rave about it. My soup was lobster and butternut squash. Don't freak out when they bring you an almost empty bowl with some foam and lobster. They will come back with the squash soup and pour it over. It was creamy, but the foam was tart and unexpected. It was very similar to the old fashion I had. The main courses we had were the salmon, strip, scallop, and fillet. The salmon was tasty and a little spicy. The scallops were flavored well, but not as fresh as those I had last week in Vegas. The strip won the night with a great coffee and chili rub with an amazing sweet potato cake. The fillet was good with a simple pepper flavoring. Ask for bread and let me know how it was, we didn't get any. Deserts were sparse, only 3 choices. We tried the banana fried pies, which were yummy. The ice cream was ginger and a little different. We also had the petite deserts, which was hard to share. The sherbet was amazing. The chocolate was good and bitter. The apple pie was yummy. The shooter wasn't great. I'll stick with the bananas. We couldn't resist the temptation of seeing the city from 49 floors in the air. That was one reason - okay, the primary reason - we decided to have drinks at Vast Saturday night. It's definitely a built-in marketing ploy, as I imagine a lot of people would chose to dine/drink here simply for the view. Thankfully, we had a good experience, so 49 floors up or not, we would definitely come back. Vast seemed to me to be a very intimate and inviting place. People were in a good mood, we were greeted with smiles starting from the hostess on floor #1 all the way to the top. I was reading some of the other reviews regarding the poor service, but we had none of that experience. Even witnessed a very busy server taking time out to take a photo of another couple nearby. We were not big spenders that night, only purchasing one glass of Chimay Blue and a Pimm's Cup Nouveau (one of their specialties with Pimms, strawberries, mint, and ginger beer - pretty tasty!) ... but I never felt like we were treated with any less respect than someone dining on $30 swordfish. Luckily, we scored a window seat and spent about half an hour taking in the lights of Oklahoma City. He looked at me and my two friends when he came around to the bar and asked who sat us. We were not dressed up to his standards so he asked around to see who seated us. The evening began with a greeting by the gatekeeper downstairs. I then rode the elevator to the 49th floor and stepped out into such a gorgeous restaurant and view. Paco and Samantha served me: I started with the quail stuffed with mushroom. I ate the leg bones as if i was at KFC because it was just that good. I did feel ashamed and I couldn't walk away. In between the courses Paco, Samantha and I had some lively conversation again. My rack of lamb, which Samantha recommended, arrived and before taking that first bite I knew I was in for a treat. Superb evening. Everything was impeccable from the service to the food. Kandace was our server and took our dining experience to the highest level. She was personable, professional, knowledgable and fun! She paced our meal PERFECTLY. Our dining experience was amazing. The appetizers were perfect. Party of 4, we shared the Seared Shrimp and Charcuterie - a wonderful array of flavors, including the incredible beets! Soup and the caesar salads were delicious. Each of our entrees was elegant and well presented. Scallops, Breast of Duck, Salmon and a 6 oz filet... Each was perfection.
