I had my husband go in to order my usual, and he was told there would now be an extra charge for the meat substitution and cheeze, which is totally fine, no problem there. But then he was told, "if you don't like it, that's on you since you're changing the recipe." That kind of comment completely killed the vibe, and he ended up not ordering. I figured maybe it was just a misunderstanding, so I went in myself the next day to order. Everything was going smoothly until a woman came out of the kitchen to provide that same warning, again emphasizing that if I didn't like it, it would be on me. I understand the upcharge and I completely get that modifications are final sale, that's pretty standard. I've never returned food or had an issue like that before. That said, the repeated warning just felt unnecessary and honestly a bit off-putting. It took away from the overall experience at a place I've always enjoyed. I still got my burrito (and it was great as usual), but just a heads up, if you make any modifications, be prepared for a very firm disclaimer. It might just catch you off guard like it did for me.

We seated ourselves at a booth since it wasn't quite busy and that just means more room for our food and drinks to spread out *teehee* The cocktails were amazing my cousin ordered the espresso martini which she loved they make the espresso fresh. I went with a gin cocktail that had coconut flavors something I would never consider with gin but if you read my reviews you know gin is my preferred spirit. It was so good! For two people we ordered three types of empanadas we probably could have gotten away with two flavors and maybe a lighter tapa or desert but really wanted to try the cheese and guava empanada and didn't want that to be a main option in case we didn't like it. Needless to say we really liked all three: picadillo, arroz con pollo and guava and cheese - the picadillo was the favorite however both for the inside flavor and the accompanying dip. Pricing is not bad I'd say the serving and size of the three empanadas for $14 is a great price.

Since then they have removed the plantain chips and still offer mashed plantains...and a very small serving. I ordered a cuban sandwich which was good but I guess I expected it to look more appealing on a plate such as with garnish. Since it was the middle of June it was already hot outside at a cool 105 degrees temperature. We were surprised to see the restaurant had the front door propped completely open letting the hot air into the restaurant. Since this is a small restaurant you really couldn't escape the heat. The heat unfortunately caused us to leave after a short while.

We met the owner, Juan, and he was such a delight! I loved his enthusiasm for great, vegan food and he provided excellent recommendations! The biscuits were so buttery and the pancakes were fluffy, while the tofu scramble really hit the spot! The fried guacamole was also super unique! This will definitely be a spot we will have to come back to! You also get two places in one, as the owners run Dark Hall next door, which is a cozy coffee shop offering the most delicious pastries! Can't wait to come back!

The patio was a bit full so we put our name on the list for a table inside. We waited about 15 minutes, but made the most of the wait by going next door for coffee. They appeared a bit short staffed, however the staff we interacted with were very friendly. The food is very yummy. Sometimes I forget that it's amazing what can be made as a vegan recipe these days. The flavors were good and things were seasoned well, and they have to be imo to make up for the lack of flavors from meat, cheese, butter, cream etc. all things I love, but the mushroom gravy on these delectable biscuits was delicious. I also really liked the black beans and quinoa filling of the chimichanga. I would definitely come back and try other items on the menu.

She recommended a fantastic vegan spot called Tacos Veganos; and it blow us away. Yes, everything is VEGAN, including the meats! We ordered three different meat tacos: pork, chicken, and beef. I opted for the taco de papo, which was an incredibly delicious combination of potatoes, cabbage, and a sauce made from cashews. It was deep-fried, which added a unique texture to the dish. The chicken taco was my favorite. It was fantastic once I dipped it into the red magic compote. The beef taco had an aftertaste, but that's just a personal preference. Ana, who's a native of Mexico, said the same thing about the tacos. I was skeptical at first, but she was right. These tacos are so good that sometimes the substitute is better than the real thing. I highly recommend trying these tacos at least once. You'll be amazed at how good they are. I'll definitely be back real soon!

I was glad we got there when we did because shortly after we put our order in there was a line almost to the door. It is counter service so you kind of need to know what you are getting and everything looks so yummy it was super hard to decide. I got the AZ burrito with birria, which is made with jackfruit. It's meant to be like pulled pork. It was huge and very messy. They tortilla was very rubbery but the filling was good and I think there were French fries in there? Maybe that is what makes it an AZ burrito? Overall the flavor was good but it needed something else like beans or guac. It just tasted very one note. Also I got the horchata. It was delicious. My mom got the surf and turf taco. Again the tortilla was tough to eat so she got a fork and a plate and tore into it. This one had the "asada" soy steak and then breaded and fried pieces of cauliflower. The fake meat was not that good. It was too salty and so was the rice. The cauliflower although tasty was so big it was hard to eat. Overall it was good but not as amazing as I had wanted it to be. I likely won't go out of my way to come back.
