Partner and I were seeking out Italian for our date night tonight, and found this place nearby. The closest thing I can equate it to is a Joe's, if you've ever been to one. A little dingy on the inside, probably room for like 15 parties max. Cheaper than usual prices for Italian in the area. An included salad that definitely came from a bag. That type of thing. That being said, places like this definitely have their niche and Verona is no exception. I got the veal piccata, and though they truly gave me far too many capers, the sauce was good (if not a little watery and liquidy) and the veal was cooked nicely. The house dressing was nice on the included salads and the bread was good if not a little small. My bf got the eggplant parm and a side of Italian sausages and enjoyed his meal. I will say that while there, it appeared to be our servers first day and she charged us for a cannoli related to another table that I only noticed after being returned the check to sign. Thankfully, the waitstaff was amiable and apologetic and offered the chargeback, but we just shrugged it off and requested the cannoli that we paid $7 extra for. It was pretty good, albeit we didn't order it. Overall, it's not gonna be the best Italian you get, but if you want something that gets you far for less, this is a good option. read more

I placed my order via DoorDash and had it delivered. I ordered the Baked Ziti with meatballs added to it. I received something that vague resembles what baked ziti is supposed to be. It just looked like an ordinary pasta dish, not a baked one. The pasta was good, but it was very watery. The sliver of cheese that was put on top seemed like it melted due to the heat of the food, not an oven. The meatballs were undercooked and a little raw in the middle, so I opted out of trying them. The bread was pretty good and really soft. The order seemed to be prepared in a rush, considering the fact that it was handed to the delivery driver no more than 8 minutes after ordering. My wife and I were invited to dinner at Verona Italian Cafe back in October, as part of a group hosting a surprise birthday party for my wife's co-worker. We found the restaurant to have a nice ambience. For our meals, we shared the Bruschetta appetizer. It was plentiful and tasty. Since we each were definitely having a piece of birthday cake for dessert, we both opted for the Greek Salad as our entrees. To drink, we both had soft drinks. We both enjoyed the salad, but I seem to recall I was a little taken aback because the olives on the "Greek" salad were neither Kalamata nor Peloponnese, rather they were simple California Black Olives, which I found to be a letdown given the Old World interior decorating vibe being attempted by the restaurant. And, in the interest of full disclosure, that is the reason for the Three Star rating. Anyhoo... The salads were fresh and as for the drinks, there was no "slime in the ice machine" detected. So, major plus there! In the end, we did decide that we would visit Verona Italian Cafe again were we to find ourselves in the neighborhood at mealtime. As for the waitstaff, they were working hard to take care of the 20-plus people in our party and they did so quite well, considering the circumstances. For the facilities, the restaurant's bathrooms were both well stocked and clean. If asked to recommend Verona Italian Cafe or not, I would definitely recommend it. We just returned from a week long vacation in San Diego which is home to the largest Little Italy district in the US. We ate in that district three times while we were there. It was good but it didn't hold a candle to our neighborhood Italian restaurant, Verona's. We ate there tonight; our first night back. The ziti with meat sauce and the stromboli were excellent. Prior to the wedding date, Frank was very helpful advising on the menu and provided a variety of options for the appetizers and main course. On the day of the wedding, they setup the serving tables in a buffet style with 2 serving lines to expedite service. They were extremely attentive through the entire event providing help we did not expect. The guests were very complimentary on the food taste and quality. The Verona team stayed longer than we expected to make sure all our needs were met. They provided leftover containers to make it easy to transport after the reception.
